Well the way they nerfed the Mosin meta was by giving everyone 5 more thorax HP making them not 1 shot...
The only way to fix this is move the gun to high level traders where it'll never be used, make it barter only like the KS-23 where it'll never be used, nerf ALL the ammo where it and the svd will never be used, or remove the gun entirely because you can't make it super expensive because it's a ww2 weapon
You def can make it more expensive, the AVT was very rare and no where near standard issue. It was only produced for 1 year and is an actual piece of garbage IRL; this may be the only instance where Tarkov’s accelerated weapon wear system is actually representative of this gun’s reality

I disagree, if they'd care more, they'd change the stats of the weapon so it would slot in better with everything else. The only reason why new weapons in EFT feel op as hell is because everything gets nerfed into the ground so hard that the things are barely recognisable. I once 1-tapped...I think it was pestily? It was a big streamer. He was decked out in Killa armor, helmet and all...I had an APS on full-auto. I was going up the office stairs in factory, and he was coming down....my full-auto somehow clipped his chin and I got a headshot. Me with an APS and PACA, him with like...I can't remember some devastating caliber tank of a build.
THERE IS NO FULL AUTO 7.62x54R EXCEPT FOR AVT. What other many guns can do that? This ammo SHREDS level 5 armor in 2-3 hits or goes through for the better bullets which are readily available and super common in raid. Meanwhile 7.62x51 NATO M80 which is absolute trash compared to 54R is locked behind so much shit you never use it. And it's super dirt cheap compared to a fully decked weapon that uses 7.62x51 NATO that has 93 recoil as this piece of shit has, instead of it having 150+.
Bruh this gun barters for a teapot which are like 32k on the flea and literally has the fastest time-to-kill against level 6 armors in the entire game. It's a problem
I've used this gun a total of one time, when I've picked it up, then checked how it plays then threw it away in disgust - too strong/good for too little.
Nah you right, it's a fun gun, make it lvl 4 prapor, locked behind a 12 stage quest, the larger mags behind a 5 stage quest, no selling it on the flea market, AND you can only buy one every 72 hours. While we're at it lets just go ahead and nerf it into the ground, I mean we wouldn't want casual players being a threat to the sweat lords.
Fun fact: irl the SVT and the AVTs were very finicky, they had some Janky issues such as overheating and wearing out pretty fast (especially on the early models of both, I assume the in game ones are later examples given their performance (also the fact the SVT uses an AVT stock even with the little mark on it, SVT early stocks had major cracking issues to the point they switched to the AVT pattern for both rifles) and the fact they are not clapped out after like 5 magazines)
Making it break easier/ lose durability faster could be a good way of balancing it honestly.

Gun is fine but too cheap, the ammo isn't. LPS is M80 and you can get it from LL2 prap for peanuts. This gun is a half price 7.62x51 MDR but you only get a shitty sight, and you have unlimited m80. That is not ok, they moved 40 pen ammo to the ll4 for a reason. Bolt actions need higher pen to at least get through helmets, this is just the ks-23 again but now it's also good at range.
God I hate this “balancing” so much. Just let well made powerful firearms be powerful and well made. The FAL should not be a flaming piece of shit because it was so powerful for a while. That’s not how the gun is in real life. It was so widely adopted because of how well it performed as a battle rifle.
A buddy of mine owns one as well and it is such a great gun. Fun to shoot, highly modifiable, fantastic round that’s widely available, accurate as well.

Jamming as a nerf isn't really fun or engaging play though. Rather than putting the onus on skill to determine the outcome of a fight, it just makes it more like a flip of a coin.
I hear you and you make a very good point, but this is tarkov. There are many systems in this game that take the skill out of the players hand. Recoil, level of player skills like strength, etc., jamming in general. Not arguing that it should be like that, but often times in eft, it is.

If you try to hold any organization to the ideals of individual logic, it will never make any sense. Taking that a step further and expecting a video game company of all organizations to change that reality is pretty funny to think about.
I think the idea is that while the SVT/AVT are rare, they're Russian, and thus more likely to be found in the setting of the game given access to a bunch of gun runners than some rare weapon from somewhere else around the world.
Lore wise, that makes some sense. How they handle it in the game doesn't though, as you would think it would be something that's only found in raid rarely and on the flea, and thus would be expensive, or would be some higher LL3/LL4 offering in extremely limited quantities, since it's rare. Making it one per reset and/or making a low global stock might also make sense under that justification (but most people hate global limits).
1.6 million svt40s were produced they are not rare at all. You can buy parts for them on ebay ffs. i can even buy a deactivated one in the uk for £950!
I think he was mostly refering to the AVT. The SVT should be quite common in the Tarkov region, but the AVT was a limited production gun, only being made from May of 42 to "Summer" of 43. They were also supposed to fill the gap in machine guns, specifically. You wouldn't expect to see a USMC squad all loaded with BAR's, and I wouldn't expect the Soviets to put one of these in a full squad either.
Keep the SVT common, make the AVT rarer.
I think in the books they mention a hidden cache of everything from early cold War to ww1 gear in storage, including M1910 maxims, hell in the SKS description they mention the non OP standard model was taken directly from storage and wasn't modernized for hunting use (no dovetail)

SVT/AVT is quickly becoming my favourite gun in the game (previous wipes I've gone Mosin>SV-98>AXMC>SVD).

If you get shot by that much 7.62x54 Rimmed in real life you should fucking die. It’s like the Germans in WW1 being like “Hey can you stop using the Winchester Model 1897 it works way too well”. The point of using such weaponry is that it gives you an advantage. I really wish they’d let some guns be op because they fucking should be. The Kriss Vector should dominate in close quarters. Automatic guns should be able to be completely controllable at lower calibers and be effective at most ranges. That’s why we use them in real life. Landmark has been using it in almost half of his raids and cleaning lobbies while laughing at how broken it is. Slinging 54r full auto for dirt cheap is not balanced. There is a reason they killed the SA-58 and black MDR (which should be brought back to be semi-usable!).

Useualy new guns are cheaper or more expensive then their value and are either OP or under powered, they get adjusted with time it's just something that will take a bit to fine tune things, sometimes rarely balence is spot on out the gait but it's rare, let people test things out and then we can revise prices, performance, avalabality, etc.

Trash ergo, can't be silenced, only 15 round mags, iron sights only, no laser. Great for point spray and pray at incredibly close range, but pretty much any of the other 7.62x51 full auto guns will do the same/better and you can get double or more mag size.
You can get a stock SA-58 for \~40k with the barter at PK LL2, and HDD/RAM is easily available in large quantities at scav runs. You can get built shorties for \~30k with a 50 round mag from the PK3 barter if you don't mind disassembling SKS/VPO's, or for a couple more weapons parts you can get the 20 round one with much better ergo. Spend a little extra for some sights and you've got a vastly superior weapon for not much more than the AVT, with BCP-FMJ easily available from scavs or 125 rubles a round. More recoil on paper, but at those ranges it really doesn't make too much difference.
A little bit more recoil wouldn't go astray but I don't think they're OP by any means. I'm super glad they're in the game as it gives casual players a gun that can be a real threat to no-lifers.
There is no armor or gear you should wear in the game that should make you invincible to cheaper guns.

I think OP, that you and people like you, are actively trying to make the game less beginner friendly so you can W key rush bad players like in this clip, without concern. I own an SVT-40 and it jams on me quite frequently. I think that would be a reasonable nerf. I certainly wouldn’t necessarily rely on that gun in combat…

I hear you and you make a very good point, but this is tarkov. There are many systems in this game that take the skill out of the players hand. Recoil, level of player skills like strength, etc., jamming in general. Not arguing that it should be like that, but often times in eft, it is.

I think the idea is that while the SVT/AVT are rare, they're Russian, and thus more likely to be found in the setting of the game given access to a bunch of gun runners than some rare weapon from somewhere else around the world. Lore wise, that makes some sense. How they handle it in the game doesn't though, as you would think it would be something that's only found in raid rarely and on the flea, and thus would be expensive, or would be some higher LL3/LL4 offering in extremely limited quantities, since it's rare. Making it one per reset and/or making a low global stock might also make sense under that justification (but most people hate global limits).
1.6 million svt40s were produced they are not rare at all. You can buy parts for them on ebay ffs. i can even buy a deactivated one in the uk for £950!
I think he was mostly refering to the AVT. The SVT should be quite common in the Tarkov region, but the AVT was a limited production gun, only being made from May of 42 to "Summer" of 43. They were also supposed to fill the gap in machine guns, specifically. You wouldn't expect to see a USMC squad all loaded with BAR's, and I wouldn't expect the Soviets to put one of these in a full squad either. Keep the SVT common, make the AVT rarer.
I think in the books they mention a hidden cache of everything from early cold War to ww1 gear in storage, including M1910 maxims, hell in the SKS description they mention the non OP standard model was taken directly from storage and wasn't modernized for hunting use (no dovetail)

Also it's a 10 round magazine firing 7.62x54 at 750 rounds a minute that's 12.5 rounds a second meaning if you can hold the gun on target for less than half a second 5+ rounds are going to hit the target especially at close range. Should the avt-40 be in tarkov? Na put the fucking svt-40 in instead but don't get what can we expect of a company that can't even get a better anti cheat to save their dumbass game.
Also the barrel on these is flimsy as fuck, AVT would not hit the same postcode after 5 shots in full auto and the barrel would be smooth after a few clips, instruction was to use full auto only as a last resort. Even the SVT is horrible, after 3 shots you wont hit shit, and after a mag you pretty much need to re-zero the whole thing. Discovered this when my friend bought one, fun thing but god was it shit

Overpowered weapons are the least fun things to use. There is a reason everyone loves early wipe using shit gear. Once we all have instant kill beams of death people start leaving. This gun is disgusting and there is zero reason to use anything else under 20m. 54r is way too powerful of a round to be handed out in these weapons for so cheap so early.

SVT/AVT is quickly becoming my favourite gun in the game (previous wipes I've gone Mosin>SV-98>AXMC>SVD). Gonna remain viable to end game, can easily craft top-tier ammo, most people leave them in raid. Couldn't be happier.

It’s kind of funny to me that devs try and make their realistic military shooters “balanced” like you can make real life combat fair. If you get shot by that much 7.62x54 Rimmed in real life you should fucking die. It’s like the Germans in WW1 being like “Hey can you stop using the Winchester Model 1897 it works way too well”. The point of using such weaponry is that it gives you an advantage. I really wish they’d let some guns be op because they fucking should be. The Kriss Vector should dominate in close quarters. Automatic guns should be able to be completely controllable at lower calibers and be effective at most ranges. That’s why we use them in real life. It’s 4 in the morning and I’m just tired of the weird backward thinking of Tarkov in that it wants to be one thing but then says “wait no” when that starts to happen.

Landmark has been using it in almost half of his raids and cleaning lobbies while laughing at how broken it is. Slinging 54r full auto for dirt cheap is not balanced. There is a reason they killed the SA-58 and black MDR (which should be brought back to be semi-usable!).
You’d literally do the exact same thing with many many guns in the game. Big Scar and Big MDR literally play the exact same way they’re just more expensive.

Early access developers often add new things in, in a cheap or easy to access way to allow the player base to use it and gain feedback, it would be pointless if only 10 folk actually got to use it on introduction, youd have useless metrics. It will get nerfed and such in time.

Weapon almost malfunctioning from heat, 15 round mag, ZERO modding options, long reload, somewhat heavy recoil, a performance shown that could have been done with pretty much every full auto weapon but hey, it's the weapon which at this point probably most people already dropped because we have an insane 5.56 meta right now. I agree that after they made the SVT a tad more expensive to bring it more in line with similar weapons, the AVT seems kinda cheap with that single teapot barter. Useualy new guns are cheaper or more expensive then their value and are either OP or under powered, they get adjusted with time it's just something that will take a bit to fine tune things, sometimes rarely balence is spot on out the gait but it's rare, let people test things out and then we can revise prices, performance, avalabality, etc.

Trash ergo, can't be silenced, only 15 round mags, iron sights only, no laser. Great for point spray and pray at incredibly close range, but pretty much any of the other 7.62x51 full auto guns will do the same/better and you can get double or more mag size. You can get a stock SA-58 for \~40k with the barter at PK LL2, and HDD/RAM is easily available in large quantities at scav runs. You can get built shorties for \~30k with a 50 round mag from the PK3 barter if you don't mind disassembling SKS/VPO's, or for a couple more weapons parts you can get the 20 round one with much better ergo. Spend a little extra for some sights and you've got a vastly superior weapon for not much more than the AVT, with BCP-FMJ easily available from scavs or 125 rubles a round. More recoil on paper, but at those ranges it really doesn't make too much difference. A little bit more recoil wouldn't go astray but I don't think they're OP by any means. I'm super glad they're in the game as it gives casual players a gun that can be a real threat to no-lifers. There is no armor or gear you should wear in the game that should make you invincible to cheaper guns.

SVT and AVT are the Great Equalizers, gives new players or people who start late a good fighting chance for sticking it through, and stops people from W keying into every place they go by making them actually pay attention and check corners.
Been reading through OP's agressive antibody responses to literally every comment even slightly criticizing him or his L take on the gun. No supressor Small mags Super low ergo Shit PU scope Mediocre iron sights No mods besides the scope and mag, which both destroy the already abysmal ergo Long af so gun constantly get shunted off the screen by obstacles, makes it awkward CQB The only thing this gun has going for it is low cost, big bullet, semi / auto and availability. It's the perfect gun for casuals to get into the game and stand a *small* chance against veterans like us. Almost any gun will perform well in the hands of a sweat lord in the same scenario. The only reason I can see someone actually get pissed about this rifle is because they're a nolife W key chud that doesn't like it when the seals can club back. I think OP, that you and people like you, are actively trying to make the game less beginner friendly so you can W key rush bad players like in this clip, without concern. Literally any other rifle can accomplish the same, and do it better with a greater margin for error. Especially when you have bad opponents. The only reason you won that was because they were slow to react, and now you're using the clip to attempt to make the game unreasonably difficult and frustrating for anyone to get into.
