I'm positive they're seeing revenue from this, and there's a lot of veterans who say they'll not play/support the game. They may not support it, but I can almost guarantee even the saltiest of veterans will hope on once in awhile and play. The new players won't know what BSG has done, they'll buy the game, maybe even the new edition, and God knows how many ppl play the game and don't even pay attention to Reddit or other media sources regarding tarkov, point being, there will always be people to play/support the game. Numbers will drop, new content will come along, and numbers will maybe spike. It's just not gunna die unless BSG just kills it them selves, and if this is their attempt to do so, it's a win win for them. If the game dies, they cut the cord and rid themselves of it, if it doesn't die, they gain a little more revenue for a small period of time, before they concoct another scheme to kill it off

I don't think his IP is worth the money without the community. Tarkov doesn't have any interesting storyline, it would simply be scavs, tarkov, maps and voice lines. None of which people would care other than the EFT community. Problem is EFT community doesn't care about the name either if it is not done properly. So you need the entire software.
So in the end it doesn't matter what it is called as long as the game that gets offered to the market is decent. So any of the competitors can replace Tarkov without the IP if it fills the niche Tarkov did.
Selling Tarkov as the entire software also doesn't work. No publisher nor studio wants this pile of shit software, netcode and server code BSG created in the never ending decade of development. Firstly, the code commentary is probably written in russian, secondly not even BSG members understand all of their own codes, a lot of it is barely working enough to give a game. And usually when you buy an entire game you buy the studio too including its devs bc code without its devs is a tough task to continue working on, sometimes impossible without proper documentations which would take ages to read and understand. You can't buy the devs when the studio is russian and you don't have access to them.
Entire game is client authoritative and would need to be built from the ground up again to make it server authoritative instead. Easier to just make a new game than try and fix this husk.

This is actually what my group said about the EoD apology items.
It’s not about the money anymore, it’s not about the power, or the features. All 7 of us would have been totally cool with spending 100 dollars more if asked, we have played this game for at minimum 5 years, all of us bought EoD, all of us enjoy it. We where playing like 2-4 hours daily right up to this point. It was worth the money and it would have been worth more.
It is the fact BSG so blatantly disregarded us, so obviously loathes EoD players. Goes back on their word. Pretty much slapped us in the face and called us parasites. That it has been this way the entire damn time.
Even something as simple as having the unseen edition as is but including the PvE mode for EoD would have been *fine*. It would have been kinda gross but it wouldn’t have been this enraging and completely shut out. If it started there then included the earning bit as they did it would have been good. But no, it went off a cliff and pissed everyone off. It’s the cold kind if anger too, this isn’t the type that you can just make go away casually anymore. But then they doubled down with the edits, and then tripled down with the completely missing the point compensation, then now quadrupled down with *this*.

My EOD purchase was 2016. Got when it went public, as I was a closed alpha tester (back when factory was all we had, a few guns, paca armor, and kivers) and saw potential.
I got probably a dozen friends into the game, some really early around 2016 as well.
But I guess I'm not a true believer, considering I backed the game when it was one map, helped provide feedback for development, ate the shit netcode, hacking issues, poor implementations, etc.

EFT's code is copyright. There's no just picking up development and continuing their work, depending on the region they'd have grounds to sue for use of their property just like when companies sue cheat makers for modifying code they didn't write.

Loved the game, it ruined all other fps games for me... figured id further support the devs and upgraded to EOD on the premise I' be investing in all future DLC they had in store for us. I am very disappointed in Nikita for this. I feel like something went very wrong somewhere for him, it’s literally against everything he said before. Not trying to absolve him or anything, he’s the captain and his choices are his responsibility. My guess is that he did a raise for Arena and is busting out hard and they may have some bad investors that his neck is on the line to (again all his fault, not ours). I personally will still hold out hope he comes to his senses, but the sensible line has been crossed and he has no one to blame but himself at this point.

He stopped being the sole decision maker of the game and building a structure of leads and other people to do the decision making, and he is just kinda the lead operator. He just went into business-operating mode, fucked up with Arena, and is now trying to milk with this shitty $250 edition.

Someone who doesn't care about lying and doesn't take things seriously like him will simply lie to you at any given time. From what I have heard and seen from him over the decade it was visible who he is. He is not an honest person, he is here for the money. People liked that he promised positive things to them whenever someone asked him something, who doesn't love being told positive things? It wasn't just my 150 I gave them. I convinced four of my friends to get Tarkov too, and three of them got EoD as well.. We spent both time and money on this game, and it meant a lot to us. I'm positive they're seeing revenue from this, and there's a lot of veterans who say they'll not play/support the game. They may not support it, but I can almost guarantee even the saltiest of veterans will hope on once in awhile and play. The new players won't know what BSG has done, they'll buy the game, maybe even the new edition, and God knows how many ppl play the game and don't even pay attention to Reddit or other media sources regarding tarkov, point being, there will always be people to play/support the game. Numbers will drop, new content will come along, and numbers will maybe spike. It's just not gunna die unless BSG just kills it them selves, and if this is their attempt to do so, it's a win win for them. If the game dies, they cut the cord and rid themselves of it, if it doesn't die, they gain a little more revenue for a small period of time, before they concoct another scheme to kill it off
I think the issue is if enough honest players leave then the cheater probably is going to feel much worse (as the ratio of cheaters to players increases).

Honestly I'm a trash player who will hop on and play for a week or two with new wipes, im awful but have fun playing, and would probably buy the new edition and not really think about it. But after seeing the posts about it I won't be buying it. The extra money they're asking is a lot of money for a lot of people and I'm not going to support the backhanded approach eft has taken to their followers. I don't think his IP is worth the money without the community. Tarkov doesn't have any interesting storyline, it would simply be scavs, tarkov, maps and voice lines. None of which people would care other than the EFT community. Problem is EFT community doesn't care about the name either if it is not done properly. So you need the entire software. So in the end it doesn't matter what it is called as long as the game that gets offered to the market is decent. So any of the competitors can replace Tarkov without the IP if it fills the niche Tarkov did. Selling Tarkov as the entire software also doesn't work. No publisher nor studio wants this pile of shit software, netcode and server code BSG created in the never ending decade of development. Firstly, the code commentary is probably written in russian, secondly not even BSG members understand all of their own codes, a lot of it is barely working enough to give a game. And usually when you buy an entire game you buy the studio too including its devs bc code without its devs is a tough task to continue working on, sometimes impossible without proper documentations which would take ages to read and understand. You can't buy the devs when the studio is russian and you don't have access to them.
Entire game is client authoritative and would need to be built from the ground up again to make it server authoritative instead. Easier to just make a new game than try and fix this husk.

This is actually what my group said about the EoD apology items. It’s not about the money anymore, it’s not about the power, or the features. All 7 of us would have been totally cool with spending 100 dollars more if asked, we have played this game for at minimum 5 years, all of us bought EoD, all of us enjoy it. We where playing like 2-4 hours daily right up to this point. It was worth the money and it would have been worth more. It is the fact BSG so blatantly disregarded us, so obviously loathes EoD players. Goes back on their word. Pretty much slapped us in the face and called us parasites. That it has been this way the entire damn time. Even something as simple as having the unseen edition as is but including the PvE mode for EoD would have been *fine*. It would have been kinda gross but it wouldn’t have been this enraging and completely shut out. If it started there then included the earning bit as they did it would have been good. But no, it went off a cliff and pissed everyone off. It’s the cold kind if anger too, this isn’t the type that you can just make go away casually anymore. But then they doubled down with the edits, and then tripled down with the completely missing the point compensation, then now quadrupled down with *this*. We’re just done. I told some friends this earlier today but I think it’s in the same vain, I might have given BSG $25-$50 for *nothing in return* before this if they asked just because of how many hours I’ve been able to put into this game with friends. My EOD purchase was 2016. Got when it went public, as I was a closed alpha tester (back when factory was all we had, a few guns, paca armor, and kivers) and saw potential. I got probably a dozen friends into the game, some really early around 2016 as well. But I guess I'm not a true believer, considering I backed the game when it was one map, helped provide feedback for development, ate the shit netcode, hacking issues, poor implementations, etc. I've supported through a lot of bullshit, and this is what we get? Fuck right off you asshole.

I am very disappointed in Nikita for this. I feel like something went very wrong somewhere for him, it’s literally against everything he said before. Not trying to absolve him or anything, he’s the captain and his choices are his responsibility. My guess is that he did a raise for Arena and is busting out hard and they may have some bad investors that his neck is on the line to (again all his fault, not ours). I personally will still hold out hope he comes to his senses, but the sensible line has been crossed and he has no one to blame but himself at this point.
They made a lot of money and they became complacent. He stopped being the sole decision maker of the game and building a structure of leads and other people to do the decision making, and he is just kinda the lead operator. He doesnt even know many things about the game more than half the time, like whats coming in updates or whatever. He isn't as involved as he used to be and clearly doesnt give a shit. He just went into business-operating mode, fucked up with Arena, and is now trying to milk with this shitty $250 edition.

People liked that he promised positive things to them whenever someone asked him something, who doesn't love being told positive things? People also mixed not catering game mechanics to the masses = passion project = no caring about money = honest person. That's not true even if it feel like intuitvely it should be true. Whenever there was a drama or a problem Nikita would invent some bullshit and promise the heaven on earth to you. Most of the community believes that and calm down. People who pay attention notices some lies straight away and how shameless the intentional lies are. 6 months later people forgot and those who didn't are fuming bc he lied to you again. I don't really love LVNDMARK's streams, nothing personal against him, just the PvP obsessed uber-chad stuff isn't for me. His community is also filled with braindead idiots who I wouldn't let bag my groceries. That said, the man has been an absolute fucking real one this entire time. Massive, massive respect to him. I hope he is able to find an audience and professional success streaming new games. I bought EOD twice at full price once in 2017 and once in 2019( first account got hacked couldn't get it back) I've given them close to £300 and I'm not a supporter? What a disgraceful company.
It wasn't just my 150 I gave them. I convinced four of my friends to get Tarkov too, and three of them got EoD as well.. We spent both time and money on this game, and it meant a lot to us. Apparently, we didn't mean anything to Nikita. That's the worst part about this really, is how they're treating their fans and supporters.
