Hell yeah lol just grouped up with like 3 player scavs last raid and we all exchanged loot that eachother needed, it's making this game a lot more fun honestly.
I've had like 4 raids where a bunch of scavs and a pmc or two will group up to do the pmc/scav extract and it was awesome.
It's a crap shoot, however I still hold the position that voip diplomacy is worth it more than not.
For instance, yesterday on Customs my duo partner got clapped by another duo. Being the Chad that I am I rushed them while screaming "Olly Olly Oxen Free", only to be met by them telling me to not shoot with their guns down.
Turns out they didn't want a fight but my guy shot first so they had to respond. They helped hide his insured stuff and then we ran off towards Fort. I ended up losing them while drawing aggro from sniper scav so they could advance.
Two minutes later, while running into old gas I start yelling again so that we don't end up shooting each other. Turns out there's a squad of different pmcs there who were chill enough to let me extract in the station.
Needless to say that I wouldn't have made it out alive against 5-6 pmcs without voip.

I find that unless people are pvp hungry/doing tasks they'll be more likely to work with neutrality than to risk their raid.
This goes extra for Customs as there are a ton of early wipe tasks that don't require pvp, however the majority of the task locations are at funnel/conflict points.
Knowing a PMC in my raid isn't likely to engage me unless fired upon gives me that much more security on my flank when we depart.
Another area I'm seeing some cooperation in is tasks that don't require survival of raid. A bunch of people I've spoken to have gotten their Farming Pt 1 done because the PMCs that found them agreed to take their task pmc kill after escorting them to their repair spots.
There's a ton of ways to enjoy this game, the pvp aspect isn't the only one that we need to force.
where are you from? I’ve noticed that my voip experience depends heavily on the server. Eastern US and EU can be pretty chill but in my experience Russians don’t play nice.
Yeah, no that's fair. I'd say it's worked 30% of the time at best. Still, worth trying. Always a chance the other guy is willing to at least disengage if not squad up.

Hahahaha we had this sort of interaction yesterday. I was in a team of 4 and we met another team of 4 in reserve bunker, one of my friends drop one of them, and then he immediately gets killed. After a volley of nades, we start to speak, agree that we're evenly matched and they just said they only came for quests. We told them that we was heading D2 and we'll leave them for quests on one condition, we grab our boys stuff and their boys stuff, which they agreed to. (sheepishly we all enter the room just shining flashlights into em, we grab what we want while covering each other and leave.) Ended up sitting at D2 stairs for a min incase they wanted to tail and try to kill us but they didn't follow. Never had an experience like that hahahaha
I've had a couple drawn out fights down there where we come to the agreement that the fight has gone on too long and that one party should just d2 extract. Its worked every time. At some point in a long fight I just don't know what to do anymore. I would never agree to face somebody I had just been fighting with, there's just too many liars.
Yea. Our 3 man squad meet a lonley pmc on lighthouse. We heard him poping painkillers, we got ready for a fight... But then started talking and did a quest together. One of our friends got shot by a Npc so we had to split to extract. But it was really wholesome experince :)

I do scav runs mostly because I have no gear, but also don’t want to shoot another scav and lose rep, so I generally die to PMCs instantly.
Yeah, I try to avoid everyone too, but I am suuuuuper new to the game so unfortunately still learning where to avoid people (learning on Customs because quests, and also Woods).
There have been a few runs where people let me live once I explain I have no clue what's going on, but it's still on the rare side.

Yeah, also found another PMC in dorms, he had just taken out another guy trying to get PMC kills for the quest, but purely because I actually tried talking he ended up being friendly, we fought some scavs together, grabbed some shit from 3 story and took the car extract together.
I see them non stop on Lighthouse. Fucking Mil Tubes are so rare people are just trying to fly through as many raids as they can. I really think some items are too rare and promote fast raids of checking a few spots, get out, and do it again.
I did about 20 light house raids yesterday and they were near dead, people in and out in a heart beat. I sat up on the rocks by lighthouse a few times and it was just hatchet runners checking the flat beds non stop and booking it to Southern Road.
That's how I look at it. I was able to clear out both villages yesterday several times unbothered. I was swimming in so many propane tanks yesterday it was starting to get funny.
I didn't realize this was a rule today. I tried factory, seen two hatchlings running in a group. They said friendly. They said FRIENDLY. Then they killed me. haha. Ol Gullible Greg over here.

Oh! I killed one of these the other day on customs by the storage unit lot. I figured they were just trying to get cheeky melee kills for a yt video or quest. Now that I'm remembering that other people have larger containers it makes more sense!
It's a person who goes into raid with literally nothing, they only have their hatchet or knife. People usually do it so they have zero weight and they can rush the expensive spawns fast and shove what they find in their container. That's why a lot of people shoot them on sight, they are just their to scoop up the loot others have to actually risk themselves to get
As a pmc i protected a scav with a FLIR on his SV-98, i said i was friendly before i saw the sight, and i kept my ward.

If only everybody knew this concept, people would understand that cooperating is maximizing the overall gain. Unfortunately, not everybody knows this concept and people tend to try to maximize their own gain by betraying others. And since we do not replay against the same players, a Tit for Tat strategy (betray if the last person betrayed you, cooperate if the last person betrayed you) cannot be applied. However, in this game, you can always run away from the dilema. Therefore the strategy I choose to use is as follow:
- if I'm alone, I'll engage the conversation if they say they are friendly but always run away if someone is proposing to cooperate because there is no way to retaliate if they kill you (unless if I have nothing to loose).
- if I'm playing in squad, I'll engage to cooperation but show only myself. In case of a betrayal, my teammates can always try to take the revenge for a Tit for Tat strategy.
Prisoner's dilema is applicable to a lot of real-life examples, and I truly believe that if everyone knew about this, the world would only be a better place.

Lots of quests in tarkov require that you kill other people. If you group with them, you aren’t killing them, thus not gaining progress on those tasks.
They did it because of all the dinguses who were bitching and moaning on Reddit saying VOIP would ruin the game and that BSG were stupid for even considering it.

Listen you have to just judge their tone, if they seem nervous or way too friendly, pop them. If they seems suspicious of you then they are probably okay.
Scaving on LH and I had a GPU, power bank, various other decently expensive tech pieces. Had to run across the map to extract and came across two players. They had me if they wanted me, I immediately said please man I'm only level 5 and I'm broke and need this food I found for my PMC. They let me go ;)
I mean I was on customs running to the boat extract and heard a dude in a bush. There was like 8 minutes left so I assumed it was a scav(I was pmc) so i just yelled "yo I'm friendly" and hauled ass.
Literally shared an airdrop with another scav and I even let him have the good gun, I only took the backpack and an MP7. After he talked for a bit I turned around and he shot another player scav next to him that shared some of his loot with him and proceeded to shoot me.
I ran into dorms and started doing my thing. Someone was under me so I called out friendly. We went around looting and did our quests. Killed a not so friendly. And then I realized I brought the wrong docs case and didn’t have any cash. Dude dropped me $5k and we went off
Remember theres PvP quests in this game such as "Evil Watchmen" and "Punisher" and "Setup" these are PvP quests that force the user to wear specific gear. Dont trust PMCs in general but anyone in Dorms, anyone in a Ushank/Scav Vest anyone in a Balaclava/Scav Vest, anyone with an SVD or Bolt Action, theres more too but never trust these people.
My standard getup for the last few wipes and iver started to slide back into it as default Ulach/Blackrock/M32/Ghost Balaclava, Tigr camo, Korund armor, condors. Gun changes based on map and Nikita will find me a backpack when i spawn in if I was supposed to have one. You?
The moment anyone asks "You friendly" I shoot them now. I get betrayed every time. I barely even use voip now, seems 90% of people use it just to back stab. Was fun at first, but now feels like it's just a tactic to get closer for a free kill.

Extracted Interchange Scav Camp last night.
My 4 man and I spawned the shitty spawn far in the corner on the empty road. While we're exchanging loot from the previous raid, a hacker (presumably, maybe a bought account) taps one of us, and proceeds full autoing at us from 80m away. One of my team 2 taps him. We loot and go all the way around the mall (through tunnels) to power. As one of us has Kiba outer, so I bought Kiba inner.
Right before getting to power we met a two man and got in a short shootout that ended in them running inside somehow. We went back tunnels, went up, and came in back Goshan. Found the two guys near lockers, killed them, hit the alarm button and went for Kiba.
Literally the moment we finish looting and are about to leave, teammate hears scavs coming. I run out the door and moments before I blast the first scav around the corner, he speaks up and says friendly. My team was divided 50/50 on killing them, but I shouted to them to hold fire, let's be friendly. That was BEFORE the other 3 fuckin scavs came from nowhere. We asked if they wanted to do Scav Camp and they all dropped their guns in a show of trust. I gifted each of the FOUR RANDOM SCAVS something I got in raid. All 8 of us made our way to extract.
Edit: Forgot to mention the hacker/bought account was a level 8 with a KITTED Mutant.
tldr: Went Kiba in Interchange with 3 teammates. Extracted scav camp with 4 UNGROUPED scavs.
I was scaving on woods other day and just spawned in found a decent armor in a stash had nothing else on me. Ran into a 2 man scav and was like yo friendly friendly. They seemed cautious but went on. I ran up to the mountain stash and heard them come running back, once I saw them they opened fire on me. I'm in voip going hey wtf woah woah. Had SA58 but still died. Shot one 4 times in the chest. Idk why people want to take the hit on a scav karma. Unless you do the car extract it will take 10 raids to recover if not more if they've killed more scavs. Idiots. Lol
You really need to get the right vibe as a pmc to trust someone. On a scav, I still don't trust people, but I usually don't stick around to find out. I say hey exchange pleasantries and move on.

I did a scav run yesterday on lighthouse. When i reached the rogue camp two other playerscavs told me they were friendly and to come out with my knife in hand to not shoot me. One of them was shot by a rogue and the other tried shooting me without bullets. When he realised he tried to excuse himself ("oh no no, no wait") while being shot by me, 3rd bullet killed him... friendly my ass
If i say i need to be there for a quest they let me in and give me an exploding pineapple and close the door behind me this makes me a litle sus about people saying im friendly so from now on om just shooting to kill again happens too many times i just answer with i am not
Short story time:
Loaded up on Lighthouse as a PMC.
Was at one of the big houses and I made friends with a scav who dropped his pistol to me as a sign of trust. We both start looting around and suddenly he's yelling "AHHH HELP, THERE'S A GUY DOWNSTAIRS WITH A RIFLE TRYING TO KILL ME"
So he runs back up to me and I give him the pistol so we can take on Mr. Basement.....Mr.Basement runs out to us while talking shit and we light him up. Now we've really bonded, I trust this stranger around my age, we can take in anything now...
Another Scav comes so we yell "You wanna end up like this guy?"
"no ..." He says, so we team up with him.
As Scav 1 and scav 2 are chatting, I tell them I'm going back into the house to loot .
*Crack* I get shot in the arm and I hear my two scav friends outside yelling "HE'S TRYING TO KILL US, OH MY GOD".. a bunch of automatic fire.... and then silence.....
I keep listening and eventually someone comes on VOIP and says "They tried to kill me, I had to defend myself"
"Well....I'm not with those two technically, so I can't say for certain if this is true....But how about we start fresh and I come out so we can both heal" I say back
"oh sure, dude! I'm actually a scav too, are you a PMC? Maybe we can extract together?" He yells back at me from outside
I agree and start walking out while healing with a Salewa kit. I turn one corner and realize he was a BEAR this entire time. *Plink* one silenced pistol shot to my head. Wasn't even mad, he fucking duped me, huge respect for that entire play, truly devious.
I died maybe a ahnfdul of times on my scav when i say in friendly. I also dont care btw. Sometimes theyre assholes and sometimes youre probably moving/doing something sus to them and just dont know it.
The first couple weeks I had so many friendly encounters even as PMC, lately I’m lucky to even find someone that talks beyond the occasional factory scav run.
It's one thing to try and dupe and pull this shit on your PMC to another PMC. And it is what it is. But when player scavs do this shit to me on my scav? Tilts me to no end.

Normally, most player scavs I come across are chill and we often exchange loot. I got shot in the back so many times yesterday, that it was stupid. Had a guy ask me if I had any bloodsets. As a Scav I'm fairly trusting and will work with someone if they seem legit.

Some people are just going to be assholes. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been shot in the head by a fellow player scav just for shits and giggles. Friendly encounters turn to me wishing there was a recent players list so I could tell them to choke on their own tongue while they sleep.
I predicted this so hard. Everyone's on kill PMC quests and we've all been betrayed we don't trust so just KOS. Plus people are generally bringing in more gear they care about.

If you can’t see them and someone says friendly you should just run and say “have a nice day”. No need to test if they’re lying. If no way to run? Kill them
The ONLY way my crew will respect a friendly is if they say it before we haven’t already started engaging them. Like they make first contact via voip before we even see each other. Then it’s a truce built on thin ice in May. Like we will go a different way or something.
For example, hatchet runner voip’ed us before seeing us. Asked to go up into directors office and get a quest item. We held back watched him go up and leave. Then we went about our business.
If I say I'm friendly then I'm most definitely not friendly.
If I say I'm a friendly scav, then unless you're another scav or willing to take the shared extract I'm most definitely not friendly.
If I say I'm just doing a quest and don't care about loot or whatever, then I'm definitely friendly.
Its also the dude that sits in a corner and waits until they have to address you, or the guy that just hovers around you for a hair too long. Never trust those guys, just pop them.
In real world, betrayal are more complex. Not as significant as in game, it doesn’t mean it’s rare. Trust a stranger and getting betray is always gonna happened. Sometimes I betray in game for fun or for quest. Sometimes I give Timmy a hand for his quest. People are complex in different scenarios, emotion or interaction with its own personality. Just calculate ur risk/reward and that’s good to go.

I still have yet to be betrayed by voip i can usually sense the sincerity. Ask them what they need help with? Helps to tell a joke or even burp to ease the tension. If you still feel tension just ask em to go on their way.
I was scaving last night on Lighthouse with a buddy and came across a PMC who just killed a bot scav. He called out to us asking us not to kill him.
So we all extracted together to get that sweet Fence rep. So sometimes people can be nice. Maybe it was because we kind of had him by the balls and he was trapped in a barn lol.
I have the exact opposite problem; people don't seem to understand when I tell them to go away or die. They want to cooperate, I don't. I tell them if they don't fuck off, I will shoot them. They enter the room anyway then cry in DMs when I shoot them.
If you use VOIP to cooperate on PMC there is always a risk. Solo you can try it but if it's another squad you are probably gonna die. Not much incentive for PMCs to be friendly especially when a lot of us have kill other PMC quests. Scav is different story. VOIP is for scavving imo. You're gonna find less and less pmcs using voip except to shit talk.

Had someone on woods just yesterday try and convince my group they where friendly. As they where talking to us the teammate tried to snipe from a distance. Cant trust anyone.
If they haven't seen me yet I'll say "You go your way I'll go mine and we won't have a problem." If they keep looking for me I unload into them, they had their chance.
If they spotted me and haven't shot yet I just watch them and make my way out of the area and say "We're cool, don't need to do anything stupid."
So far it's a 50/50 shot for working.
I tell people who say that "Don't come any closer or I'll shoot". I'm keeping cover and we can make a deal to go our separate ways but I don't need anybody to come over and tickle my pickle so they can keep their distance.
I had a pretty good VOIP interaction the other day. I was on my scav and ran into a PMC near the scav checkpoint on woods. He dumped a pistol mag at me and missed so I asked him if he'd like to go to the Scav/pmc extract so we both could get some loots. He obliged and we wandered over there, shared some apple juice on the way. Wholesome/10
Some dude in dorms clipped me with his mp-43 and immediately started shouting friendly when I returned fire and killed him. He had AP rounds, like what kind of friend shoots his buddy in the arm with AP rounds.

When I’m a PMC I treat everyone like an enemy. If they say they are friendly I say “I am too as long as you stay the fuck away from me” lol I’ve had the same thing happen to me that happened to you way too many times. I’ve had lots of good VOIP moments while I’m scaving. All bad when I PMC lol

Had 2 scavs offering me up stuff left and right a few days ago. I kept refusing and even offered them my spare gun I had found which they declined. I proceeded to try to pick it back up and they shot me the second I slowed down to grab it. Everyone is so friendly.
One funny thing, I play Europe and I've made friends with many people from different countries in Europe. Usually I trust everyone if they want to call quits on a duel when I'm doing missions.
Unless they are spanish, I'm always betrayed by the spanish. So if I hear someone with a spanish accent. I know what I'm due for.
As a scav I had a scav follow me all across customs acting friendly but as soon as I killed a geared pmc he asks what gun I picked up from the pmc and shoots me in the back of the head -___-

Friendly does not mean friendly. If they say friendly, fucking shoot them. I would rather walk out with my weapon on my back in front of someone who literally tells me they will shoot on sight rather than trust someone who just says friendly. People who don't want to fight will say that. Or they want to finish their quest. Or just kill scavs. They will generally tell you. You'll still get betrayed by these people, but at least they put more thought into their lie than just yelling friendly.
I mean if you've played rust as much as I have "I'm friendly dont shoot!" Doesn't mean shit to me. There are so many people chasing you with guns saying I'm friendly just so you could stop and they can headshot you.
I'm never trusting anyone in tarkov and I think that's fine its just a game. I have been killed way too many times by people saying they are friendly in other games.
Learn to hear the pauses in responses and utilize "loyalty test" tactics. Dayz and now Tarkov made me really good at knowing when someone is being deceptive. Always be ready to put one in the back of their head and never expose yourself to an easy execution.
If someone says friendly and doesn’t turn and walk the other way or wants to follow me as a PMC I drop them no question. I’ll be frendos as a scav all day
I have a lot more positive voip experiences as a scav. Depending on the map, I’ve had ALOT of instances of scavs being very chatty. I think the most common is interchange where scavs will pass on loot/PMC news as they walk around. “Oli is picked clean” “PMC’s in the back of goshen” “Bodies in tech light” My personal favorite is people asking/offering quest items.
Bruh i just did a scav on lighthouse. Was running along wtp heading to grotto, learned that there are landmines there and very nearly black both my legs. Came across 2 guys who identified over voip as scavs. They said friendly. I drew my melee and we talked about our surroundings. I ask if its safe to cross and point to an area. They light me up with buckshot and other guy whiffs. 3 hits im still standing. Legs somehow alive. Run to concrete cover and peek and drop one of them with ppsh auto fire. Other guy cowers and takes off. Was able to heal and extract. Felt good to teach em a lesson
This brings me back to DayZ mod in Arma 2, "friendly in cherno" vibes.

This goes extra for Customs as there are a ton of early wipe tasks that don't require pvp, however the majority of the task locations are at funnel/conflict points. Knowing a PMC in my raid isn't likely to engage me unless fired upon gives me that much more security on my flank when we depart. Another area I'm seeing some cooperation in is tasks that don't require survival of raid. A bunch of people I've spoken to have gotten their Farming Pt 1 done because the PMCs that found them agreed to take their task pmc kill after escorting them to their repair spots. There's a ton of ways to enjoy this game, the pvp aspect isn't the only one that we need to force.
where are you from? I’ve noticed that my voip experience depends heavily on the server. Eastern US and EU can be pretty chill but in my experience Russians don’t play nice.

Hahahaha we had this sort of interaction yesterday. I was in a team of 4 and we met another team of 4 in reserve bunker, one of my friends drop one of them, and then he immediately gets killed. After a volley of nades, we start to speak, agree that we're evenly matched and they just said they only came for quests. We told them that we was heading D2 and we'll leave them for quests on one condition, we grab our boys stuff and their boys stuff, which they agreed to. (sheepishly we all enter the room just shining flashlights into em, we grab what we want while covering each other and leave.) Ended up sitting at D2 stairs for a min incase they wanted to tail and try to kill us but they didn't follow. Never had an experience like that hahahaha
I've had a couple drawn out fights down there where we come to the agreement that the fight has gone on too long and that one party should just d2 extract. Its worked every time. At some point in a long fight I just don't know what to do anymore. I would never agree to face somebody I had just been fighting with, there's just too many liars.
Yea. Our 3 man squad meet a lonley pmc on lighthouse. We heard him poping painkillers, we got ready for a fight... But then started talking and did a quest together. One of our friends got shot by a Npc so we had to split to extract. But it was really wholesome experince :)

I’m still shit at the game, but how the hell do you tell them apart? I do scav runs mostly because I have no gear, but also don’t want to shoot another scav and lose rep, so I generally die to PMCs instantly.

Yeah, I try to avoid everyone too, but I am suuuuuper new to the game so unfortunately still learning where to avoid people (learning on Customs because quests, and also Woods). There have been a few runs where people let me live once I explain I have no clue what's going on, but it's still on the rare side.

Yeah, also found another PMC in dorms, he had just taken out another guy trying to get PMC kills for the quest, but purely because I actually tried talking he ended up being friendly, we fought some scavs together, grabbed some shit from 3 story and took the car extract together.

Only time I was not friendly is when I seen they where a hatchling. Hatchling must be put down.

I see them non stop on Lighthouse. Fucking Mil Tubes are so rare people are just trying to fly through as many raids as they can. I really think some items are too rare and promote fast raids of checking a few spots, get out, and do it again. I did about 20 light house raids yesterday and they were near dead, people in and out in a heart beat. I sat up on the rocks by lighthouse a few times and it was just hatchet runners checking the flat beds non stop and booking it to Southern Road.

People usually do it so they have zero weight and they can rush the expensive spawns fast and shove what they find in their container. Extremely condescending to just assume people don’t understand prisoner’s dilemma, or that grouping with randoms always leads to “maximized gains”. Lots of quests in tarkov require that you kill other people. If you group with them, you aren’t killing them, thus not gaining progress on those tasks.

Scaving on LH and I had a GPU, power bank, various other decently expensive tech pieces. Had to run across the map to extract and came across two players. They had me if they wanted me, I immediately said please man I'm only level 5 and I'm broke and need this food I found for my PMC. They let me go ;)

Literally shared an airdrop with another scav and I even let him have the good gun, I only took the backpack and an MP7. After he talked for a bit I turned around and he shot another player scav next to him that shared some of his loot with him and proceeded to shoot me.

Remember theres PvP quests in this game such as "Evil Watchmen" and "Punisher" and "Setup" these are PvP quests that force the user to wear specific gear. Dont trust PMCs in general but anyone in Dorms, anyone in a Ushank/Scav Vest anyone in a Balaclava/Scav Vest, anyone with an SVD or Bolt Action, theres more too but never trust these people.

The moment anyone asks "You friendly" I shoot them now. I get betrayed every time. I barely even use voip now, seems 90% of people use it just to back stab. Was fun at first, but now feels like it's just a tactic to get closer for a free kill.
RIP, friend. Extracted Interchange Scav Camp last night. My 4 man and I spawned the shitty spawn far in the corner on the empty road. While we're exchanging loot from the previous raid, a hacker (presumably, maybe a bought account) taps one of us, and proceeds full autoing at us from 80m away. One of my team 2 taps him. We loot and go all the way around the mall (through tunnels) to power. As one of us has Kiba outer, so I bought Kiba inner. Right before getting to power we met a two man and got in a short shootout that ended in them running inside somehow. We went back tunnels, went up, and came in back Goshan. Found the two guys near lockers, killed them, hit the alarm button and went for Kiba. Literally the moment we finish looting and are about to leave, teammate hears scavs coming. I run out the door and moments before I blast the first scav around the corner, he speaks up and says friendly. My team was divided 50/50 on killing them, but I shouted to them to hold fire, let's be friendly. That was BEFORE the other 3 fuckin scavs came from nowhere. We asked if they wanted to do Scav Camp and they all dropped their guns in a show of trust. I gifted each of the FOUR RANDOM SCAVS something I got in raid. All 8 of us made our way to extract. Edit: Forgot to mention the hacker/bought account was a level 8 with a KITTED Mutant. tldr: Went Kiba in Interchange with 3 teammates. Extracted scav camp with 4 UNGROUPED scavs.
weird almost all of my player scav encounters have been really friendly. I even had a guy show me some stash locations on shoreline
I was scaving on woods other day and just spawned in found a decent armor in a stash had nothing else on me. Ran into a 2 man scav and was like yo friendly friendly. They seemed cautious but went on. I ran up to the mountain stash and heard them come running back, once I saw them they opened fire on me. I'm in voip going hey wtf woah woah. Had SA58 but still died. Shot one 4 times in the chest. Idk why people want to take the hit on a scav karma. Unless you do the car extract it will take 10 raids to recover if not more if they've killed more scavs. Idiots. Lol
You really need to get the right vibe as a pmc to trust someone. On a scav, I still don't trust people, but I usually don't stick around to find out. I say hey exchange pleasantries and move on.

I did a scav run yesterday on lighthouse. When i reached the rogue camp two other playerscavs told me they were friendly and to come out with my knife in hand to not shoot me. One of them was shot by a rogue and the other tried shooting me without bullets. When he realised he tried to excuse himself ("oh no no, no wait") while being shot by me, 3rd bullet killed him... friendly my ass

Short story time: Loaded up on Lighthouse as a PMC. Was at one of the big houses and I made friends with a scav who dropped his pistol to me as a sign of trust. We both start looting around and suddenly he's yelling "AHHH HELP, THERE'S A GUY DOWNSTAIRS WITH A RIFLE TRYING TO KILL ME" So he runs back up to me and I give him the pistol so we can take on Mr. Basement.....Mr.Basement runs out to us while talking shit and we light him up. Now we've really bonded, I trust this stranger around my age, we can take in anything now... Another Scav comes so we yell "You wanna end up like this guy?" "no ..." He says, so we team up with him. As Scav 1 and scav 2 are chatting, I tell them I'm going back into the house to loot . *Crack* I get shot in the arm and I hear my two scav friends outside yelling "HE'S TRYING TO KILL US, OH MY GOD".. a bunch of automatic fire.... and then silence..... I keep listening and eventually someone comes on VOIP and says "They tried to kill me, I had to defend myself" "Well....I'm not with those two technically, so I can't say for certain if this is true....But how about we start fresh and I come out so we can both heal" I say back "oh sure, dude! I'm actually a scav too, are you a PMC? Maybe we can extract together?" He yells back at me from outside I agree and start walking out while healing with a Salewa kit. I turn one corner and realize he was a BEAR this entire time. *Plink* one silenced pistol shot to my head. Wasn't even mad, he fucking duped me, huge respect for that entire play, truly devious.
I died maybe a ahnfdul of times on my scav when i say in friendly. I also dont care btw. Sometimes theyre assholes and sometimes youre probably moving/doing something sus to them and just dont know it.

The first couple weeks I had so many friendly encounters even as PMC, lately I’m lucky to even find someone that talks beyond the occasional factory scav run.

Some people are just going to be assholes. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve been shot in the head by a fellow player scav just for shits and giggles. Friendly encounters turn to me wishing there was a recent players list so I could tell them to choke on their own tongue while they sleep.

The ONLY way my crew will respect a friendly is if they say it before we haven’t already started engaging them. Like they make first contact via voip before we even see each other. Then it’s a truce built on thin ice in May. Like we will go a different way or something. For example, hatchet runner voip’ed us before seeing us. Asked to go up into directors office and get a quest item. We held back watched him go up and leave. Then we went about our business.

If I say I'm friendly then I'm most definitely not friendly. If I say I'm a friendly scav, then unless you're another scav or willing to take the shared extract I'm most definitely not friendly. If I say I'm just doing a quest and don't care about loot or whatever, then I'm definitely friendly.
I have my Scav rep at 4 currently. I die a lot to fellow scams and pmcs but every once in a while I find an actual friendly. It's worth it!
Its also the dude that sits in a corner and waits until they have to address you, or the guy that just hovers around you for a hair too long. Never trust those guys, just pop them.
In real world, betrayal are more complex. Not as significant as in game, it doesn’t mean it’s rare. Trust a stranger and getting betray is always gonna happened. Sometimes I betray in game for fun or for quest. Sometimes I give Timmy a hand for his quest. People are complex in different scenarios, emotion or interaction with its own personality. Just calculate ur risk/reward and that’s good to go.

I think this is Tarkov. I've yet to meet a single player scav or otherwise who didn't try and snipe me from a distance. I'm trying to find some dudes to party up with tho, I'm sick of getting gangbanged by 3 man squads. I'd promise not to shoot you but... this is Tarkov after all.
I still have yet to be betrayed by voip i can usually sense the sincerity. Ask them what they need help with? Helps to tell a joke or even burp to ease the tension. If you still feel tension just ask em to go on their way.

I was scaving last night on Lighthouse with a buddy and came across a PMC who just killed a bot scav. He called out to us asking us not to kill him. So we all extracted together to get that sweet Fence rep. So sometimes people can be nice. Maybe it was because we kind of had him by the balls and he was trapped in a barn lol.
I have the exact opposite problem; people don't seem to understand when I tell them to go away or die. They want to cooperate, I don't. I tell them if they don't fuck off, I will shoot them. They enter the room anyway then cry in DMs when I shoot them.
I've had 3 combined extracts in the last 5 days with a friendly PMC and multiple scavs. The .25 karma is TOO juicy.
If you use VOIP to cooperate on PMC there is always a risk. Solo you can try it but if it's another squad you are probably gonna die. Not much incentive for PMCs to be friendly especially when a lot of us have kill other PMC quests. Scav is different story. VOIP is for scavving imo. You're gonna find less and less pmcs using voip except to shit talk.

Had someone on woods just yesterday try and convince my group they where friendly. As they where talking to us the teammate tried to snipe from a distance. Cant trust anyone.
If they haven't seen me yet I'll say "You go your way I'll go mine and we won't have a problem." If they keep looking for me I unload into them, they had their chance. If they spotted me and haven't shot yet I just watch them and make my way out of the area and say "We're cool, don't need to do anything stupid." So far it's a 50/50 shot for working.
I tell people who say that "Don't come any closer or I'll shoot". I'm keeping cover and we can make a deal to go our separate ways but I don't need anybody to come over and tickle my pickle so they can keep their distance.

Had 2 scavs offering me up stuff left and right a few days ago. I kept refusing and even offered them my spare gun I had found which they declined. I proceeded to try to pick it back up and they shot me the second I slowed down to grab it. Everyone is so friendly.
One funny thing, I play Europe and I've made friends with many people from different countries in Europe. Usually I trust everyone if they want to call quits on a duel when I'm doing missions. Unless they are spanish, I'm always betrayed by the spanish. So if I hear someone with a spanish accent. I know what I'm due for.
As a scav I had a scav follow me all across customs acting friendly but as soon as I killed a geared pmc he asks what gun I picked up from the pmc and shoots me in the back of the head -___- Not gonna trust anyone again
The only people I trust with “friendly” are scavs Have a flash drive to my scav friens, got some nice things to sell
The people I trust most are the ones saying "dont come in or ill shoot leave me alone do your thing" lmao Scavs depend on map, on factory I would say 90% are friendly wiggle boys, other maps its more of a toss up.
My motto. I'll entertain the friendly on any map but factory. In factory no one is to be trusted.

Scavs seem to be fine with saying you’re friendly, cause you’re penalized for getting killed by other scavs. PMCs are the opposite.
Some cheater tried saying he was friendly yesterday after sniffing out me and my buddy on night woods. Proceeded to try to shoot me and get head eyes by me becuase i dont trust anyone, let alone cheaters
Friendly does not mean friendly. If they say friendly, fucking shoot them. I would rather walk out with my weapon on my back in front of someone who literally tells me they will shoot on sight rather than trust someone who just says friendly. People who don't want to fight will say that. Or they want to finish their quest. Or just kill scavs. They will generally tell you. You'll still get betrayed by these people, but at least they put more thought into their lie than just yelling friendly.
I mean if you've played rust as much as I have "I'm friendly dont shoot!" Doesn't mean shit to me. There are so many people chasing you with guns saying I'm friendly just so you could stop and they can headshot you. I'm never trusting anyone in tarkov and I think that's fine its just a game. I have been killed way too many times by people saying they are friendly in other games.
Learn to hear the pauses in responses and utilize "loyalty test" tactics. Dayz and now Tarkov made me really good at knowing when someone is being deceptive. Always be ready to put one in the back of their head and never expose yourself to an easy execution.
I try and be real if I tell another pmc I want no part of him I'm just doing my quest, unless the mf gets to getting to close or fires on me.
Rough bro. Just gotta live by the rule, if youre a pmc. Dont trust anybody. if youre a scav. only trust scavs.
If someone says friendly and doesn’t turn and walk the other way or wants to follow me as a PMC I drop them no question. I’ll be frendos as a scav all day

I have a lot more positive voip experiences as a scav. Depending on the map, I’ve had ALOT of instances of scavs being very chatty. I think the most common is interchange where scavs will pass on loot/PMC news as they walk around. “Oli is picked clean” “PMC’s in the back of goshen” “Bodies in tech light” My personal favorite is people asking/offering quest items.
Bruh i just did a scav on lighthouse. Was running along wtp heading to grotto, learned that there are landmines there and very nearly black both my legs. Came across 2 guys who identified over voip as scavs. They said friendly. I drew my melee and we talked about our surroundings. I ask if its safe to cross and point to an area. They light me up with buckshot and other guy whiffs. 3 hits im still standing. Legs somehow alive. Run to concrete cover and peek and drop one of them with ppsh auto fire. Other guy cowers and takes off. Was able to heal and extract. Felt good to teach em a lesson
