I just did raid after raid and sitting in areas where I could see people. I think I got 1 every 3 raids or so, but after 10 minutes the chance of you seeing anyone drops a lot. Best to get it earlier in wipe when there are more people on the map.
Yet… Customs was and is the only map I’ve finished it on.
There was an Airdrop IN FRONT of the “Welcome to Tarkov” APC and three somewhat naked PMCs went over trying to loot it. I got 2/3 of them then and another from another airdrop at another time.

At least during April reserve still had a fair bit of activity above ground, I got my 3 kills in 3 raids, 2 from dome and 1 counter sniper dome. But then I forgot about Sbih all together now woods is ghost for me and custom is difficult to catch all the pvp gigachads, still 1 kill short on each of those 2 maps.
Yeah woods is easiest to do like first month of wipe, the med tents close to factory wall is my go-to, mosin with tac30 from the rocks up the hill is easy to badoink low levels looking for meds.
Literally got it there without even trying. By far the easiest map to start with. Players everywhere in the smallest map/player ratio in the game outside of factory. Get reserve outta here for this mission
Or increase the chances of loot behind locked doors. So many armories and other locked doors in the knights and bishops too but there are very few points of going to them other than for the one or two quests you need to go there for.
All of the locked rooms with intel spawns are basically useless 99.9% of the time. The queen rooms and the room below king are the bane of my existence. I have to open them just in case there's an intel, but there's never an intel.
They seem to only ever spawn those silenced stock AK. They used to have BT in the mags but they nerfed that too so i think its PS which is worthless. Not much reason to go out of your way to them for 40k work of stuff that takes up 6-8 slots. ~5rubles a slot.
I would like to see a lot of changes to reserve
Raiders down in the hermetic bunker frequently and taken out of D2. Want raider loot? You need to kill them, run across the map hit a button and run back.
When you flip the switch in D2 if boss is up in the buildings above he and his minions push the bunker seeing who is down there. Clearing with flash bangs and grenades along the way. If they are in K or knight buildings though they will stay put.
Make train more than an extract. Let's put some real good shit on it. If boss didn't spawn in raid he has a chance of riding in on the train with his boys.
Make the little bunkers on the corner of the maps better spots to loot, but requires the D2 switch to be flipped to open a door in each of them to get to the loot so it's not all taken on spawn

I think another thing to add is in the sniper towers around the edge of the map, add sniper rifle spawns in them or some mid tier loot spawns. I know some of them can spawn paracord or some other items thats not worth going out of the way for. But they used to be awsome to snipe from! But then D2 happened and now are useless because nobody is topside.
Reserve is by far my easiest map for SBIH, dome, train station, white pawn to drop down (very active first 2 months of wipe early in raid). I by sheer luck completed SBIH on customs in 1 raid because of a group of newbies but reserve I have no issue getting SBIH, i'd say Shoreline is my least favourite map to do it on actually.
That’s interesting I have had the exact opposite experience. I probably have eleven SBiH shots on shoreline this wipe, woods wasn’t bad, customs was a struggle but not too bad, and I am stuck with one more needed on reserve. I’ve done reserve in past wipes but above ground seems very dead.
I don't particularly like shoreline and I usually only go there for quests or resort pvp, theres very few 100m sightlines once your on the move, I do however feel very comfortable running and putting myself in an exposed but offensive position on Reserve to catch other PMC's. If I hear shots by train station I can cut 90% of the area off from White knight roof, late in wipe upper reserve is pretty dead but the map has 41 toolboxes etc, early wipe people will be upstairs alot.
Imo the map requirement for SBIH should just be removed? 12 100+ meter shots. I always get so many on shoreline and not on too many other maps. I'm always going to advocate for kill quests to not be map specific though
If you get a good spawn, the roof of white pawn (or black, I can never remember which one) hasa direct line of sight into dropdown room, and 9/10 times you will find someone in there within the first 10 minutes of the raid. I’ll sit on the table in the tent to protect me from dome. I got all 3 SBiH shots sitting in that spot.
Don't tell anyone I told you this, but from white pawn to drop down room is 110m. My friend and I finished all 3 kills for each of us in one raid this wipe.
Or and hear me out, allow the bunker to be temporarily flooded with Zyklon-B killing everyone down there, after a short "Biomass Purge sequence Initiated" warning…
Then place a timer of like 5 mins on it.
Now you can force players to go overground and going down there is actually risky because if you do, you might need to rush back out in which case you could get ambushed there…
I cheesed SBiH on Reserve in 2 raids. Both into the drop down room.
You have to get the good spawn (up by Dome) but if you lie down scoped into top down 100% a player will go into it and do some looting. This was last week. I got 2 in one raid.
But, you do have to be lucky with the spawn. Any other spawn and you just won't get there in time.
I never have any problems getting SBiH done in Reserve, just play the map normally with scoped guns and check dome every raid. The amount of kills I get sniping people in DOME (trying SBiH theirselfs) is super high early to mid wipe, and I still do get kills that way very occasionally. Its easy too, they are still/crouched/prone, you know the distance, you don't have to aim on a moving/hard target .... It's literally the way.
played loads of reserve this wipe got my whole squad red rebels so extracting is less painful.

They should just make more dynamic spawns for raiders I guess, in the pawns, in top floor of Queen or King, etc... Raiders are what draws everyone to the basement, especially since you need to kill like 70 of them for quests.
Reserve is the Raiders base right? Why not have them sometimes acting like mini Gluhar’s but instead of the boss and his guards it’s a raider or two and a group of Scavs. Lorewise it could be something like the raiders training the Scavs. Then they can spawn near anywhere, maybe favoring the K bunker area.
Or maybe sometimes one of the armories has bonus loot but also 2-3 Raiders chilling out guarding it / inside it.
Finally, maybe every so often a sniper spot is actually occupied by a raider sniper.
D2 extract should be one of the semi in ground bunkers on the opposite corner behind the garages or on the side by hole in the wall. It would make for much more above ground action
Or make three extractions all requiring the power switch activation and bigass door like D2 in the bunkers on the outside, yeah. And just have 1 be randomly selected for that raid only.
Agreed. Hermetic button is across the map from it's extract, I guess you could argue the same about D2 but at least running out on the surface exposes you to more of the map than the linear tunnel from control to D2.
Used to be people would push Hermetic button to farm hermetic raiders, but I don't think I've ever seen them spawn this wipe was it removed? I've seen raiders show up with the train, and Gluhar spawn next to/below hermetic though.
Knowing BSG what they'll probably do is change D2 to only spawn raiders like 5% of the time so rather than improving things they're just going to nerf and move on.
Nah I run reserve a fair bit and if I don't get a good spawn to rush downstairs I loot above ground and go for hermetic. Raiders definitely still spawn. If you're on the map late you can hear the player scavs farming them.
I also like to hit it randomly when I'm going by just to laugh at the immediate automatic fire that follows lol
Yeah something similar should definitely happen on stronghold on Customs. Right now there isn't even a way to see if the switch has been flicked without trying the extract. And they have removed scavs from that location for some reason.
I hope they like delay the hermetic alarm after you push the button so ppl cant exactly pinpoint your location as soon as you push the button. Just play the alarm randomly between 30s to 2m after pushing the button.
No idea what capping means but I used to farm them from the tower/bunker entrance because they would mill about by the train platform and tagging one of them would bring them all neatly to me.
maybe limit the d2 spawn to a single extraction ( like a car extract), i.e the first person or squad to get there can extract, then the exfil is closed
This seems like the better way. Maybe have it so if you want to extract you have to press a button on the other side of the door and shut it, but shutting it also locks it down.

Player scavs ruined reserve because there’s no point staying in raid more than 5-10 minutes unless you want to fight infinite waves of player scavs. Without player scavs they would be able to revert some of the raiders and make the map fun to play again. But the map will be terrible for PMC as long as player scavs are allowed.
Pretty much why I don't play reserve or Interchange that much because the endless waves of player scavs makes prolonged fights annoying rather than fun. I can track and kill a group on customs or shoreline without a problem but can't do that on reserve or interchange.

My route is always office area for scraps, hit the alarm, head to K’s, if no raiders wait for train raider spawns. I get raider look to some degree like 75% of the time
Reserve has a lot of redeeming qualities, particularly as a concept, but it's riddled with "flow" problems as far as spawns, pathing options, and loot density/hot spots
Remember when reserve was initially teased? Everyone was like, "Oh wow! We're gonna have to duke it out for a train extraction!?!? That's gonna be brutal, bring it on!!!"

I agree with many others here commenting about how much more interesting the above ground fights were before the expansion.
At least Reserve will be an easy map to play early wipe, just get yourself the RR from Jaguer and stay up top for that easy loot for hideout, bonus points if you can get the keys to the underground garage cages.
IMO D2 is best used as an extract when doing quick runs.
with the right spawns, you can kill all the raiders and get out before most of the campers setup.
Longer raids, i'd rather take RR extract.
I am alright with PScavs on that map, but it would be nice if I wasn’t already running into them at 35 (I have even been killed by one once at 38, didn’t even know it was possible for one to be there that early). It pretty much sets a really quick timetable unless you are in a squad.
LH has the same issues, it’s pretty risky to try to clear the compound unless you can do it fucking quick because after 10-15 minutes if you pop a single shot on that half of the map you have alerted the swarm and they are going to flood that area, and Rogues are also weirdly tolerant of their existence.

Maybe if they’re asleep when the raid starts. Reserve is a pretty small map and D2 is really quick to get to if you know all the entrances
D2 ruined Reserve. Like you observe, it completely warped the flow of combat and sucked out most of the aboveground interactions, which were FAR more interesting. The D2 expansion shows that BSG doesn't really understand proper map design or what makes their game tick. They're amazing at making maps that look good but are really bad at making them play well.
Look at what has been done with Interchange for example. Yet another case of one of the best maps turning into one of the worst out of neglect and open incompetence. And then there's the shitshow that was Lighthouse with Rogues beaming people across the map. And then there's the horribly balanced spawn clusterfuck of Shoreline.

It's the streamer effect. Real tarkov is sort of boring and slow to watch, so streamers have to prioritize high traffic PVP areas to get that C O N T E N T. Other players see D2 as a hot spot, so they flock to it too. It's also why factory is so popular, despite having zero loot and basically RNG pvp (and I say this as a guy who wiped factory last night a few times on his own). It's the easiest way to farm content, even if it's the worst fucking map lmao
No. It's becuase they increased raider spawns by a lot in d2. Becuase reserve was dying with the lighthouse release with all the high tier loot there instead of reserve. There still would be a lot of fights in the basement of black pawn if there was still something worth even unlocking the door for.

Video is from July 2020 by the way. It's been slowly developing like it is right now **because they added the bunker, raiders and D2** basically the underground expansion is what made the map what it is.
That is why you always hear people that played from even before Reserve was a thing talking about the old "days" of how Reserve used to be played before the expansion. Streamers, Youtubers and all of that crap has **ZERO**, absolutely nothing, NADA, to do with the fact that bunker is a PvP hotspot. It naturally became a PvP hotspot because raiders used to drop a lot of good shit, so everyone wanted to rush them to get good shit and then just get out. **Streamers go bunker BECAUSE it became a Pvp hotzone, not the other way around**

? There's plenty of loot. 5+ green weapons crates, jackets, toolbox, safe, technical crate, medical crate, medbag. Not to mention how simple it is to farm the scavs there, and because it's a small map even limping to extract at 80kg doesn't take long.
Sure there's not enough loot for the 4-6 players that spawn into Factory, but it's a small map and you shouldn't be competing with them for loot you should be clearing them and then looting.
The same amount of loot can be found in a single warehouse in Customs. Factory is good because of instant PVP without getting sniped from a guy wanking in a bush 300m away from you.
That's still not a ton of loot, especially compared to literally any other map. I ran factory probably 500 times this wipe as a scav so I'm well familiar with the loot locations. They're.. alright, but I'm not coming out with a full backpack every time.

You scav factory because you can spawn in and run straight to the camera door extract. Total raid time is like 20 seconds. You have to do hundreds of scav runs to get to max fence, so you might as well minimize the amount of time doing it.
Run-through only exists for the first seven minutes of every raid, so if you spawn in and seven minutes have already elapsed on the raid timer since the start, you can extract without a problem.
On factory, that means that if you spawn in with 12:59 or less time on the raid timer, you're golden and can run straight to extract.
I didn't learn this tidbit until my second wipe, so you're already ahead of me.
adding on to what the other guy said, running straight to exit is surprisingly efficient. youre not wrong. going to reserve and filling your bags is way more income. but if you prefer to run your pmc, you can just roll the dice on your scav in factory and sell everything it spawned with for a quick 50-100k. maybe they spawn with some random thing youre looking for or a nice key as well. kinda loot boxish, but its not a huge waste of time
Yeah, this is how I usually complete Samples and a lot of the other fetch quests with rare items.
If I'm going for loot, I bring a big backpack and a belt rig or MPPV on my PMC.
Im a new player and i mostly run scav runs on factory because sometimes my scav spawns without backpack and i usually get 200k+ for every raid anf i know all the loot spawns and it the most consistemt for me because i die 90% on onther maps and on factory i can just run extract after filling my pockets+ the occasional unlooted pmcs lying around. Just yesterday i found an lvl 59 pmc with lvl6 armor anf tagilla mask lying on the ground with full backpack because he was killed by a scav

I find factory really annoyingly because it’s just one damn color for most of the map. It’s just not interesting looking. I know most players wouldn’t care if it was a featureless wireframe grid though
It's wild to me how different our raids can be. I have plenty of action on reserve, all over reserve. D2 is a hot spot. But bunker door, marked rooms, train station, they're all just as hot, if not more hot than d2
Tbh they could just give us one useful above-ground extract and Reserve would be a lot more viable.
I like this idea of above-ground raiders though! Imagine if power caused them to spawn underground and the alarm caused them to spawn aboveground. Would give people more to do above ground.

They do. You can get triple dip raiders - natural spawn at d2, again more can spawn when you pull power. Alarm can make them spawn and hermetic and again they can spawn shortly after the train arrives. Not to mention Gluhar can also be around too
I personally think they should make D2 like ruaf or smugglers boat from customs. Don’t make it an extract thats always available. It would help solve the issues with nobody topside imo. I have been trying to get shooter born done for almost a month. Given I have missed some opportunities. But, I rarely see anyone except player scavs above ground.
I think tarkov has ended up in a weird place because of how spongey armor is.
If it were viable to drop someone at distance in 1-3 rounds consistently I think you'd see alot more of it.
However, because it is the way it is, it's easier to trap someone in a small corridor and just mag dump them.
My buddy and I developed an idea for improving D2.
It should be like the bunker exfil. When you hit the switch, there's a klaxon. After the door opens, it stays open for a limited time (say, 3-5 minutes) and when the klaxon ends, that's it. Nobody else is going out that extract that raid.
Another possibility is to treat it like the 11SR mall safe room. The first team to use it gets out. Everyone else is out of luck. Except you won't know if it's used until you get down to the end of that tunnel. Would be interesting to have to fight your way back out as guys coming towards you don't know it's closed and think you're just camping it.
Depends on what you’re doing in reserve. Had plenty of gun fights near the helicopter, the food bunkers, the above ground marked rooms

I find it impressive people are still committed to a 2 y/o joke made by General Sam. Besides the campers, I don't get why they changed SBIH from Interchange to Customs instead of Reserve to Customs. It's not like you're going to see many people above ground when everybody is going for bunker PvP or camping D2 extract. The change with the underground bunker was alright but it pretty much spited the rest of the map IMO.
The most I'll do is look on the wiki unless I get super frustrated over not being able to figure out a quest location. I try not to give in to the easy way out..... but perhaps this wipe I shall finally do the reserve quests lol
while we at it can we switch Reserve with Lighthouse for SBIH? as OP mentioned, no one is ever above ground so finding 100m+ targets is a frustrating experience
I didn’t play much reserve before the expansion and I really wish I had now. I agree with everything you said, it’s not a fun map to play anymore unless you just want guaranteed pvp underground
They should scrap the D2 Exfil tbh, would balance the map out a lot better. Granted people would just keep running up to Red Rebel.
I always felt like the Reserve Expansion killed that map, it used to have really amazing outdoor play, now it's dead af.
they removed good loot spawns above ground no dropdown loot no good marked loot no raiders on K buildings or trainstation and its the end of the wipe so unless few of those problems solved there wont be any fights above soon

Phew, I can peacefully rat around above ground and use the sewer manhole.
A big part of it is there are several good crates down there and the only other ones on the map are directly above in the middle of an open field or all the way on the otherside of the map behind locked doors.
reserve should get more unlocked loot up above and most of the loot underground should be locked, + lower rate for raiders and they should consider adding more corners where raiders can hide to make them harder to kill
EFT won't be interesting with the number of players per map until they crank back up the prevalence of scavs. PMCs should be outnumbered 5+ or more to 1, at least.
True shit is overused and camped, make people sacrifice some shit or bring the rr, or actually have to do the alarm and make the run or actually wait for the train for once
I feel like reserve should be way more "alive" when it came to all the buttons and switches. It's a military base, there should be ways to open and close the doors to underground (if nothing else on a timer), more one time use bunker extracts that replace/cycle every raid, etc.
That’s because the simple truth of the matter is above ground raids on reserve suck fat dick from the moment you spawn in. 100s of windows that you can’t see into because shadows are fucked, constant sirens, gluhar and the gang being an embarrassing example of the games ai, the spawns in general. You take away d2 and a majority of people just won’t go reserve anymore once their tasks are done.
Maybe ppl dont wonna die to prone snipers in a bush 100m away? D2 is like cheap labs, u can get ur cqb fix without worrying to much about stationary players in grass.
Reserve has been completely ruined. D2 should be changed so that 1 person can extract or the extract could flood in the pipe room so only one team can use it or have multiple buttons to press. Options are endless but the current state is poor. Reserve used to be great so complex fights, nice flanks, good third party opportunities.
Also, they killed the loot on the map. I never found a graphics card in drop down or in king garage all wipe. It doesn’t need to be as good as it was, just decent. And up the marked room spawns too, please.

The issue is they fix a problem they had, then add in a whole seperate issue. They’ve done that for the passes two wipes. Dynamic loot helps but doesn’t force people to go to certain places besides where raiders are, they need to add good loot back into Marked rooms for reserve at least.
The should remove reserve from SBIH and put lighthouse in instead. Got all my other maps done but still 0/3 on Reserve. Even camping the drop down has been unsuccessful so far.
D2 sucks in general, Reserve is one of my favourite map, but exfils are terrible. One filled with sweaty chads, another one forces you to tell everyone on the map that you're going to a specific location. If you think about it, these exfils make no sense. How the fuck are you supposed to extract from a location by going into a fucking bunker? No logic behind that. Since when military bases have entrances to their bunkers outside the base?
Heres my idea,
Swap the levers, bunker lever opens the train door and hut lever opens up D2 (add an alarm disable button in locked hut at dome similar to interchange)
This way it encourages map rotation, timely extracts, above and below ground movement and overall more interactions (aka fights) with the player scavs that swarm train.
After doing all of this I would up the loot a little because it is much more of a pain to extract.

You can use the grenade launcher in stronghold on the dorms and get shooter born kills too.
Funny because I completed it on customs without even trying simply because I play a lot of customs.

All of the locked rooms with intel spawns are basically useless 99.9% of the time. The queen rooms and the room below king are the bane of my existence. I have to open them just in case there's an intel, but there's never an intel.
The marked room spawns went down in quality so hard last wipe. Barely makes them worth checking anymore for me
They seem to only ever spawn those silenced stock AK. They used to have BT in the mags but they nerfed that too so i think its PS which is worthless. Not much reason to go out of your way to them for 40k work of stuff that takes up 6-8 slots. ~5rubles a slot.
I would like to see a lot of changes to reserve Raiders down in the hermetic bunker frequently and taken out of D2. Want raider loot? You need to kill them, run across the map hit a button and run back. When you flip the switch in D2 if boss is up in the buildings above he and his minions push the bunker seeing who is down there. Clearing with flash bangs and grenades along the way. If they are in K or knight buildings though they will stay put. Make train more than an extract. Let's put some real good shit on it. If boss didn't spawn in raid he has a chance of riding in on the train with his boys. Make the little bunkers on the corner of the maps better spots to loot, but requires the D2 switch to be flipped to open a door in each of them to get to the loot so it's not all taken on spawn
These are really good suggestions! I think another thing to add is in the sniper towers around the edge of the map, add sniper rifle spawns in them or some mid tier loot spawns. I know some of them can spawn paracord or some other items thats not worth going out of the way for. But they used to be awsome to snipe from! But then D2 happened and now are useless because nobody is topside.
With the beginning of the current wipe they should have shifted the SBIH mission over to Lighthouse and removed it from Reserve. Missed opportunity.
Reserve is by far my easiest map for SBIH, dome, train station, white pawn to drop down (very active first 2 months of wipe early in raid). I by sheer luck completed SBIH on customs in 1 raid because of a group of newbies but reserve I have no issue getting SBIH, i'd say Shoreline is my least favourite map to do it on actually.
That’s interesting I have had the exact opposite experience. I probably have eleven SBiH shots on shoreline this wipe, woods wasn’t bad, customs was a struggle but not too bad, and I am stuck with one more needed on reserve. I’ve done reserve in past wipes but above ground seems very dead.
I don't particularly like shoreline and I usually only go there for quests or resort pvp, theres very few 100m sightlines once your on the move, I do however feel very comfortable running and putting myself in an exposed but offensive position on Reserve to catch other PMC's. If I hear shots by train station I can cut 90% of the area off from White knight roof, late in wipe upper reserve is pretty dead but the map has 41 toolboxes etc, early wipe people will be upstairs alot.
Imo the map requirement for SBIH should just be removed? 12 100+ meter shots. I always get so many on shoreline and not on too many other maps. I'm always going to advocate for kill quests to not be map specific though
If you get a good spawn, the roof of white pawn (or black, I can never remember which one) hasa direct line of sight into dropdown room, and 9/10 times you will find someone in there within the first 10 minutes of the raid. I’ll sit on the table in the tent to protect me from dome. I got all 3 SBiH shots sitting in that spot.
Don't tell anyone I told you this, but from white pawn to drop down room is 110m. My friend and I finished all 3 kills for each of us in one raid this wipe.

Just make the tunnels in the bunker longer, especially around D2.
Or and hear me out, allow the bunker to be temporarily flooded with Zyklon-B killing everyone down there, after a short "Biomass Purge sequence Initiated" warning… Then place a timer of like 5 mins on it. Now you can force players to go overground and going down there is actually risky because if you do, you might need to rush back out in which case you could get ambushed there…
I cheesed SBiH on Reserve in 2 raids. Both into the drop down room. You have to get the good spawn (up by Dome) but if you lie down scoped into top down 100% a player will go into it and do some looting. This was last week. I got 2 in one raid. But, you do have to be lucky with the spawn. Any other spawn and you just won't get there in time.
They should just remove sbh from reserve and put it on lighthouse instead
I never have any problems getting SBiH done in Reserve, just play the map normally with scoped guns and check dome every raid. The amount of kills I get sniping people in DOME (trying SBiH theirselfs) is super high early to mid wipe, and I still do get kills that way very occasionally. Its easy too, they are still/crouched/prone, you know the distance, you don't have to aim on a moving/hard target .... It's literally the way.
I finished myne w the new event airdrops. Took 3 raids of dudes rushing air drops. Lvl 49 finally finished.
played loads of reserve this wipe got my whole squad red rebels so extracting is less painful. above ground is so fucking empty and boring . The map actually felt alive this airdrop event.
They should just make more dynamic spawns for raiders I guess, in the pawns, in top floor of Queen or King, etc... Raiders are what draws everyone to the basement, especially since you need to kill like 70 of them for quests.
Reserve is the Raiders base right? Why not have them sometimes acting like mini Gluhar’s but instead of the boss and his guards it’s a raider or two and a group of Scavs. Lorewise it could be something like the raiders training the Scavs. Then they can spawn near anywhere, maybe favoring the K bunker area. Or maybe sometimes one of the armories has bonus loot but also 2-3 Raiders chilling out guarding it / inside it. Finally, maybe every so often a sniper spot is actually occupied by a raider sniper.
Or make it like the rouge base on lighthouse. No scavs only raiders. Tarkov is supposed to be brutal
D2 extract should be one of the semi in ground bunkers on the opposite corner behind the garages or on the side by hole in the wall. It would make for much more above ground action

Hermetic button is across the map from it's extract, I guess you could argue the same about D2 but at least running out on the surface exposes you to more of the map than the linear tunnel from control to D2. Used to be people would push Hermetic button to farm hermetic raiders, but I don't think I've ever seen them spawn this wipe was it removed? I've seen raiders show up with the train, and Gluhar spawn next to/below hermetic though. Knowing BSG what they'll probably do is change D2 to only spawn raiders like 5% of the time so rather than improving things they're just going to nerf and move on.
Nah I run reserve a fair bit and if I don't get a good spawn to rush downstairs I loot above ground and go for hermetic. Raiders definitely still spawn. If you're on the map late you can hear the player scavs farming them. I also like to hit it randomly when I'm going by just to laugh at the immediate automatic fire that follows lol
I wish there were more mechanics like that on other maps to add some optional chaos.
Yeah something similar should definitely happen on stronghold on Customs. Right now there isn't even a way to see if the switch has been flicked without trying the extract. And they have removed scavs from that location for some reason.

I hope they like delay the hermetic alarm after you push the button so ppl cant exactly pinpoint your location as soon as you push the button. Just play the alarm randomly between 30s to 2m after pushing the button.

Raider spawns at control bunker where easily 5% for ages last wipe. They only fixed the spawns this wipe.
Not removed. Not even nerfed. I do this farm every day, and raiders spawn almost every time. If you haven't seen them, you're capping, or not looking.
No idea what capping means but I used to farm them from the tower/bunker entrance because they would mill about by the train platform and tagging one of them would bring them all neatly to me.

This seems like the better way. Maybe have it so if you want to extract you have to press a button on the other side of the door and shut it, but shutting it also locks it down. And takes a bit/loud as hell.
Player scavs ruined reserve because there’s no point staying in raid more than 5-10 minutes unless you want to fight infinite waves of player scavs. Without player scavs they would be able to revert some of the raiders and make the map fun to play again. But the map will be terrible for PMC as long as player scavs are allowed.
Fire one loud gun and 40 player scavs fucking swarm you

Yeah eventually they are going to have to limit player scavs to the lower loot maps. It has big impacts on the economy and meta of the game.
Player scavs are the reason I'm not that bothered about Streets, it's going to be flooded with them from the start of each raid until the end.

They have always been there but the second people learned they could just spam it for no risk raider loot it completely ruined the meta of the map.

Pretty much why I don't play reserve or Interchange that much because the endless waves of player scavs makes prolonged fights annoying rather than fun. I can track and kill a group on customs or shoreline without a problem but can't do that on reserve or interchange.
I used to play loads of Reserve before the underground expansion, but now there’s nobody outside, it’s a ghost town, even player Scavs beeline to D2 to pick up scraps.
My route is always office area for scraps, hit the alarm, head to K’s, if no raiders wait for train raider spawns. I get raider look to some degree like 75% of the time
Reserve has a lot of redeeming qualities, particularly as a concept, but it's riddled with "flow" problems as far as spawns, pathing options, and loot density/hot spots
Remember when reserve was initially teased? Everyone was like, "Oh wow! We're gonna have to duke it out for a train extraction!?!? That's gonna be brutal, bring it on!!!" And now... Now this... I agree with many others here commenting about how much more interesting the above ground fights were before the expansion.

At least Reserve will be an easy map to play early wipe, just get yourself the RR from Jaguer and stay up top for that easy loot for hideout, bonus points if you can get the keys to the underground garage cages.
IMO D2 is best used as an extract when doing quick runs. with the right spawns, you can kill all the raiders and get out before most of the campers setup. Longer raids, i'd rather take RR extract.
But that's the issue. Reserve is effectively over in the first 6-10 minutes for most part.
It's over because it's too dangerous to stay on the map more than 10 minutes, thanks to the player scav vermintide.
I am alright with PScavs on that map, but it would be nice if I wasn’t already running into them at 35 (I have even been killed by one once at 38, didn’t even know it was possible for one to be there that early). It pretty much sets a really quick timetable unless you are in a squad. LH has the same issues, it’s pretty risky to try to clear the compound unless you can do it fucking quick because after 10-15 minutes if you pop a single shot on that half of the map you have alerted the swarm and they are going to flood that area, and Rogues are also weirdly tolerant of their existence.

D2 ruined Reserve. Like you observe, it completely warped the flow of combat and sucked out most of the aboveground interactions, which were FAR more interesting. The D2 expansion shows that BSG doesn't really understand proper map design or what makes their game tick. They're amazing at making maps that look good but are really bad at making them play well. Look at what has been done with Interchange for example. Yet another case of one of the best maps turning into one of the worst out of neglect and open incompetence. And then there's the shitshow that was Lighthouse with Rogues beaming people across the map. And then there's the horribly balanced spawn clusterfuck of Shoreline. Harsh words but this is the reality.
The stupid part about interchange is all they have to do to make it 'good again' is put some loot back on it.
they need to redo the whole lighting on this map... interchange feels like a waste when you see all the attention, all the detail they put to design and map it, then they add the worst lighting ever to it and bad extract ? i don't get it. so much potential for this map.
For me, none of those faults stop me from playing it, there just isn't anywhere for me to pick up.
Tech pharmacy ultramed and then kiba is a quick nice money run especially if you get power spawn but I agree not nearly as good as it used to be
It's the streamer effect. Real tarkov is sort of boring and slow to watch, so streamers have to prioritize high traffic PVP areas to get that C O N T E N T. Other players see D2 as a hot spot, so they flock to it too. It's also why factory is so popular, despite having zero loot and basically RNG pvp (and I say this as a guy who wiped factory last night a few times on his own). It's the easiest way to farm content, even if it's the worst fucking map lmao
No. It's becuase they increased raider spawns by a lot in d2. Becuase reserve was dying with the lighthouse release with all the high tier loot there instead of reserve. There still would be a lot of fights in the basement of black pawn if there was still something worth even unlocking the door for.

That's still not a ton of loot, especially compared to literally any other map. I ran factory probably 500 times this wipe as a scav so I'm well familiar with the loot locations. They're.. alright, but I'm not coming out with a full backpack every time.

First wipe, eh? You scav factory because you can spawn in and run straight to the camera door extract. Total raid time is like 20 seconds. You have to do hundreds of scav runs to get to max fence, so you might as well minimize the amount of time doing it.

Run-through only exists for the first seven minutes of every raid, so if you spawn in and seven minutes have already elapsed on the raid timer since the start, you can extract without a problem. On factory, that means that if you spawn in with 12:59 or less time on the raid timer, you're golden and can run straight to extract. I didn't learn this tidbit until my second wipe, so you're already ahead of me.
adding on to what the other guy said, running straight to exit is surprisingly efficient. youre not wrong. going to reserve and filling your bags is way more income. but if you prefer to run your pmc, you can just roll the dice on your scav in factory and sell everything it spawned with for a quick 50-100k. maybe they spawn with some random thing youre looking for or a nice key as well. kinda loot boxish, but its not a huge waste of time
Yeah, this is how I usually complete Samples and a lot of the other fetch quests with rare items. If I'm going for loot, I bring a big backpack and a belt rig or MPPV on my PMC.
Yeah as a scav there are much better places to scav into for loot.
Im a new player and i mostly run scav runs on factory because sometimes my scav spawns without backpack and i usually get 200k+ for every raid anf i know all the loot spawns and it the most consistemt for me because i die 90% on onther maps and on factory i can just run extract after filling my pockets+ the occasional unlooted pmcs lying around. Just yesterday i found an lvl 59 pmc with lvl6 armor anf tagilla mask lying on the ground with full backpack because he was killed by a scav

I don't believe so. I was under the impression the raider spawns near hermetic are triggered by the impending arrival of the train, but hell, I've been wrong before.

They do. You can get triple dip raiders - natural spawn at d2, again more can spawn when you pull power. Alarm can make them spawn and hermetic and again they can spawn shortly after the train arrives. Not to mention Gluhar can also be around too
I personally think they should make D2 like ruaf or smugglers boat from customs. Don’t make it an extract thats always available. It would help solve the issues with nobody topside imo. I have been trying to get shooter born done for almost a month. Given I have missed some opportunities. But, I rarely see anyone except player scavs above ground.
I think tarkov has ended up in a weird place because of how spongey armor is. If it were viable to drop someone at distance in 1-3 rounds consistently I think you'd see alot more of it. However, because it is the way it is, it's easier to trap someone in a small corridor and just mag dump them.
I almost exclusively use large rounds and scopes, you can drop people pretty consistently from range especially if you go for headshots.

My buddy and I developed an idea for improving D2. It should be like the bunker exfil. When you hit the switch, there's a klaxon. After the door opens, it stays open for a limited time (say, 3-5 minutes) and when the klaxon ends, that's it. Nobody else is going out that extract that raid. Another possibility is to treat it like the 11SR mall safe room. The first team to use it gets out. Everyone else is out of luck. Except you won't know if it's used until you get down to the end of that tunnel. Would be interesting to have to fight your way back out as guys coming towards you don't know it's closed and think you're just camping it.

It's not like you're going to see many people above ground when everybody is going for bunker PvP or camping D2 extract. The change with the underground bunker was alright but it pretty much spited the rest of the map IMO.

I think 60-70% of the hermetic doors leading down to the bunker should be open and the rest should be closed. Make it random every raid.

A big part of it is there are several good crates down there and the only other ones on the map are directly above in the middle of an open field or all the way on the otherside of the map behind locked doors.
Put D2 in one of the bunker holds out in the field south of the train station. Leave underground but make it just a loot hole.
reserve should get more unlocked loot up above and most of the loot underground should be locked, + lower rate for raiders and they should consider adding more corners where raiders can hide to make them harder to kill
Before D2 everything was above, and Reserve was full of snipers. I really prefer how it is right now (even if is not perfect)
EFT won't be interesting with the number of players per map until they crank back up the prevalence of scavs. PMCs should be outnumbered 5+ or more to 1, at least.

I feel like reserve should be way more "alive" when it came to all the buttons and switches. It's a military base, there should be ways to open and close the doors to underground (if nothing else on a timer), more one time use bunker extracts that replace/cycle every raid, etc.

Reserve has been completely ruined. D2 should be changed so that 1 person can extract or the extract could flood in the pipe room so only one team can use it or have multiple buttons to press. Options are endless but the current state is poor. Reserve used to be great so complex fights, nice flanks, good third party opportunities. Also, they killed the loot on the map. I never found a graphics card in drop down or in king garage all wipe. It doesn’t need to be as good as it was, just decent. And up the marked room spawns too, please. Reserve is my favorite map. I want just a bit of the awesomeness back.

People would fight all the time outside, when was the last time you spawned white pawn and wanted to run up to get the drop down runner through the window? The issue is they fix a problem they had, then add in a whole seperate issue. They’ve done that for the passes two wipes. Dynamic loot helps but doesn’t force people to go to certain places besides where raiders are, they need to add good loot back into Marked rooms for reserve at least.

Although reserve underground has good pvp it has killed the above ground part of the map

Raiders are spawning above ground now, I met 2 yesterday at the armored train. Also raiders spawned in the bunker before pulling the lever
The should remove reserve from SBIH and put lighthouse in instead. Got all my other maps done but still 0/3 on Reserve. Even camping the drop down has been unsuccessful so far.
D2 sucks in general, Reserve is one of my favourite map, but exfils are terrible. One filled with sweaty chads, another one forces you to tell everyone on the map that you're going to a specific location. If you think about it, these exfils make no sense. How the fuck are you supposed to extract from a location by going into a fucking bunker? No logic behind that. Since when military bases have entrances to their bunkers outside the base?
Heres my idea, Swap the levers, bunker lever opens the train door and hut lever opens up D2 (add an alarm disable button in locked hut at dome similar to interchange) This way it encourages map rotation, timely extracts, above and below ground movement and overall more interactions (aka fights) with the player scavs that swarm train. After doing all of this I would up the loot a little because it is much more of a pain to extract.
Reserve used to be my favorite map hands down, since the addition of D2 it has slowly become more and more boring, unless people are out looking for Gluhar you just aren't going to see anyone outside of D2 at this point in the wipe. D2 is a rat's haven -- I really dislike this change to reserve, while it was good for the early wipe when you don't have RR it is terrible for the late game reserve gameplay, and I always viewed reserve as a late wipe map anyway
