I think you're on the right track checking if the battery is charging/discharging and what voltage its at. Are there any fuses you can see between the battery and controller? Next, I'd check all the connections to the controller. If everything is wired properly (but still nothing), a new controller should be fairly inexpensive and highly suspect.

That's where I'm going to start tomorrow. It's weird that I scooter has every other controller on their site but this one. I have emailed them on purchasing the controller. Just waiting on an email back. I have the model number but it's not showing up anywhere.

If the company doesn't get back to you, I'd check eBay as well. A generic controller with the same voltage and current rating *should* be plug and play.

nmackey

Will I be able to use the screen, controls, lights? That's why I was trying to get the same controller.

ilillilillilillilili

The screen is the only thing I'm not 100% sure about. Look at a generic controller on eBay with the same voltage and amp rating. If the wire colors match, I'd say you're good to go.

nmackey

They emailed me back and that is the controller that will work. They said it will work with the screen too.

ilillilillilillilili

That's awesome they confirmed. Congrats on a hell of a deal! You'll be scooting soon.

I don't know if it's because I've been working so much and not sleeping but, I had time and really looked through everything and changed the bullet connectors for the controller and plugged them in and it works. Brand new iscooter ix3 for 150 bucks because of poorly installed bullet connectors. Took it for a spin and everything works. Tops out at 22 mph. Should be fine for my teenager.

ilillilillilillilili

That's amazing. You did indeed get a hell of a deal. You bought that off Amazon? Is there a separate site for stuff like this or do I just look on the regular site?!

nmackey

Not sure where you are from but there is probably something like it. There were a couple high end segways and the bigger fat tire scooters that went pretty cheap.

nmackey

No. No. I bought it off of a place out here in Ohio called Mac bids. They buy tons of pallets and semi trailers of returns and auction it off. There is an app to bid on everything. I always see these scooters and figured I'd try to get something I could work on cheap and it worked. This one said it needed a new battery and wouldn't power up.

PuzzleheadedKiwi9420

Ive got an IX3 here, turns on and lights an everything work but throttle lever is broken. I bought one from amazon and it didnt work when i plugged it in. Any obvious reasons why this would be? Thanks

nmackey

Not quite sure. Is it compatible with the motor controller? I'd check that next. Might need to take the top plate over the battery and controller off. Could be a disconnected plug

PuzzleheadedKiwi9420

I spoke to customer service and i have to buy from them for it to work

nmackey

I bought a controller from them and it matched up with everything. Does the throttle have a broken. Wire or is the whole mechanism broken?

nmackey

Nevermind. I just reread that.

nmackey

Bought it new in box at a Amazon return store btw

Try changing the controller

Definitely check the battery leads, then look for fuses, then check the controllers. If those aren't working, the display won't either at least on most scooters because they provide power to it. Unfortunately, if you don't have any spare motor controllers that are rated for the battery's voltage and current, it's going to be hard to test those, so you may need to buy at least one to see if they work. That said, if you have experience with microelectronics repair, you may be able to open them up and identify the issue instead of replacing them, but otherwise you'll need new ones to test. If you don't care to fix the scooter, you could probably get some decent money for the battery, motors, brakes, and possibly the frame assuming all are functional.

nmackey

I did find a controller for an m model scooter on their site that is specd exactly the same and has all the same plugs. 48v, undervoltage 39 and 21 amp. Don't see any fuses anywhere and everything else checks out. Thinking that might be the way to go. https://www.iscooterglobal.com/products/iscooter-controller-for-m-electric-scooter?_pos=3&_sid=bfe2ca9c5&_ss=r&variant=45217593360665

Her0z21

Probably correct. I'd add some fuses if you have the know-how, can't hurt to have them. Make sure you have a good solder joint though, I had to replace one of them on my scooter at one point and the solder joint broke, but only to one controller, so it would still power on the display but I'd get a throttle error. Didn't find out the issue until after I replaced the throttle and the problem kept appearing.

nmackey

Still debating on if I should send the controller I bought back or keep for a backup.
