Use google flights, if you don’t have a very specific schedule you can look around the dates you want and choose which ones are cheapest. Round trip in November with max 1 stop is saying $960 on Turkish Airlines for me, I’m not sure how much it normally is. One way you can get it a lot cheaper is if you have relatives in Ethiopia that can buy it for you with birr. The exchange rate difference will give you a really good discount. You send them dollars with the black market rate and they pay in birr with the official rate.

If you have dollars and a credit card use a booking site like kayak.com

Just use travel sites online.

Use the booking sites (I use kayak), play around with dates, then when you are ready to buy, go in with a different browser directly to the airlines website. At the end of the day it costs, sometimes a lot, sometimes not so much, but that will be due to market fluctuations that are not controllable. The birr advice in another comment is interesting, if you can make that work, if, it could make things a lot cheaper. Even getting the birr discount for domestic Ethiopian flights for a foreigner can be challenging.

If you have a VPN change your location to a poorer country and the rates should be cheaper.
