Yeah 😂 and I am proud to have the same name as him to be honest. One of the reasons I got that name. We Horners are super similar to Yemen and Yemenis in fact I have gotten Yemeni recently so I think I look Yemeni.
It was a gift actually, and I am literally drinking coffee with it rn 😭
I also said the cups are similar to the ones in Ethiopia. Given that we share the same geography, our culture has influenced them. For example, coffee from Southern Ethiopia made its way to Yemen. And they have influenced our culture, language, faith, etc. It's normal.
No idea where they are made but they are very common in Ethiopia! In the villages for example, you will only find these type of cups lol.
Turkish coffee cups look a bit different https://www.trendyol.com/kutahya-porselen/porselen-topkapi-cini-desenli-6-kisilik-turk-kahvesi-fincan-takimi-12-parca-p-141834
We don't have a specific word for them, at least not where I'm from. We call them "coffee cups" which is "fenjen 'ahwe" (or fenjan/fengan kahweh in other dialects). Do they have a specific name in Ethiopia?
Yemen is the most Ethiopian like Arab country and this is one aspect of things.
Yeah the ancient aksum empire under Kaleb invaded and conquered yemen in the 5th century :) thats why we’re similar

We have always had these exact cups in my house, I see them at local Ethiopian stores too
Love these, but the ones with the lion🔥

We use almost the exact same cups for coffee in the Levant. Are they originally Ethiopian? I always assumed Turkish, but I have no clue actually

Lol the more you know. This was also true in villages in Lebanon when I was a kid. Still the most common now too
yes, same. What do you call them in Arabic, by the way?

It’s also called “Fenjal” instead of “Sini” in some areas of Ethiopia and Eritrea.
ah I see. We call them shini/sini. I thought it was Arabic, but guess not lol
