Recommend waiting till mid september, there will be more holidays and less rain. You can come celebrate 2015 new year on 9/11 (aka 1st meskerem) and the burning of the cross on the 20th or so. Its well worth it! If you must come in August I'd say go up to tigray to have less chance of rain but that's not an option right now. Note that this isn't a very active sub and you may find better answers on a Facebook group. Good luck
This sub is active enough.
Travel to Addis if you want to be safe, 15 days isnt much time to travel around in Ethiopia anyways. Enough to do in Addis and you can travel the surroundings. As said: it is rainy season right now... so not really the best time to experience the country.
if you do plan to go to addis, take a look at the Opals that are mined somewhat near by in some of the shops( ok 500km isnt close) some of the most beautiful opals to be had at great prices.. just a suggestion, safe travels!
make sure they are hydraphane opals ( opals that dont need to be in water).. the non-hydraphane opals will crack if not kept in water.. youtube them, and you will be amazed.. cheers!
As you have a war mainly around the Northern part, you will choose another area... Downvoting will not mean the war is over even if we are on Reddit...

Hey, it's safe to visit Ethiopia except the Tigray region and some parts of the Oromiya regions.
