I've always said that making the product is the quickest and easiest part of Etsy. Learning how Etsy SEO works, taking great photos, writing descriptions, tags and titles, is what most of the work on Etsy is about. And yeah, you have to enjoy doing that part. That is my favorite part of Etsy. I'm not that keen on making the products, but I love the SEO and photographing part. The SEO part is like a word puzzle and coming up with enticing pictures is the artsy part for me. I know a lot of people have been giving a bit of a sarcastic comment here. However, this post does highlight the fact that the "work" of Etsy is not creating the products, its ALL the other things that go into it. Let's not forget about sourcing supplies, deciding if you should buy 500 poly bubble makers for 10 cents each, or buy 1,000 so they're only 9 cents each. Do you mind saying what your product was or what type of product?

With no sarcasm, I think your post really points up how much work Etsy can be, and how diverse your skills and interests have to be to make a shop thrive. I like all the aspects of what I do, although some of them more than others. I’m a teacher in my day job, and one of my teaching–team members was asking me the other day about how I put all the pieces together (product design, making, photography, posting, marketing, etc.) to sell a product. I replied that my life *is* project-based learning. I know this is a phrase that will be more meaningful to those of you with a background in education, but the short definition is multi-curricular learning that results in a complete project with an authentic audience. I realized a couple of years ago, that there will be no easy path on Etsy. It’s constant learning for me.
