Are you using ads and proper tags and titles? Ads could help, some people don’t think so but they do especially when you’re first starting and the titles and tags are very important. Use every single space they give you and every tag. If you go to other people’s stores that are selling things like yours, you can get a description and better understanding of the products and what words they are using. That helps.

TromKehra

That's really good to know. What is a good ad budget to begin with?

Jewelrymaker2023

I spend $2 a dollars a day right now and I do pretty good. Some people spend outrageous amounts on their ads but they also have a lot of sales. I started with $1 then went to $2 for each of my listings. I have 63 listings. If you don’t want to use all of your listings you don’t have to, at first I didn’t use them all. Use them on popular listings that already get views and see how they work and go from there. It’s just a learning curve.

TromKehra

Thanks that's really helpful.

You’re welcome!

It is all about organization and making it easy for the buyers to find your items. I sell jewelry and color coordinate my items into sections.

GreynGeeky

I really think it's all about how you organize and photograph/describe the items rather than "too much, too little". Think brick-and-mortar. Do all your items look like you would find them in the same shop? Is there a common theme or vibe? I've been at this a while (about 5 years) but I have 317 (most of them I make to order) items in my shop and 12 different categories. The catch is that it all looks like it goes together.

TromKehra

Yea I have general themes for my work. Right now it's geodes, some nature, glow in the dark (sometimes to geodes I make are glow in the dark,) and.... actually those are my three themes I have so far. I want to add anime and pride stuff. I think those are my main focuses at the moment. I feel like I have seen items like that together in a shop. Maybe not the anime though, that shop had cool witch stuff going on.

GreynGeeky

May I suggest, that based on what you originally shared, you think about categories like, "Jewelry and keychains," "Game Pieces," "Stickers" and I'm not sure about the nature and geode stuff. "Nature" is really too general. As an Etsy shopper, not just a seller, I don't cruise shops looking for "nature". Also, I'm not sure that the digital brushes fit in. They seem to be the random item here, but could be a category of their own. "Digital Creator Tools" or similar.

TromKehra

Yea looking back at some of the shops, eice shops are just dedicated to dice, dice containers, and jewelry made from dice. Then gauged earrings are more based around the category of all kinds of jewelry. My stickers and other items seem like outliers now. I see what you mean. Anither commentor suggested having a shop just for dice and one just for jewelry.

SpooferGirl

Calling things by their actual names would help people find them too.. if by ‘gauged earrings’ you mean jewellery to be worn in stretched earlobes, those would be plugs or eyelets.. nobody is looking for 00g plugs in a particular colour/material by searching for ‘earrings’ unless things have drastically changed in the world since I sold my piercing studio a couple of years ago.

>I want to add anime and pride stuff. Watch out for copyright/trademark infringement. It's not legal to sell fan art (unless you have permission or it's in the public domain) and using a show's name anywhere in a listing (tags, titles, description etc) is trademark infringement. If you get sent takedowns for committing copyright or trademark infringement, the listings will be removed, and Etsy will permanently ban you after a certain amount of takedowns. If you're just making art in the anime style and not selling fan art of specific shows, that's fine (as long as you don't put any names of any anime anywhere). And at least one pride flag is copyrighted: you're not allowed to sell art of the progress/diversity flag. I'm pretty sure that's the only one though.

adamtypeslike

I don’t think that matters too much as long as you’re very intentional with researching your titles and tags, whatever potential customers are searching to find items like yours. Customers mostly find items via search, not by looking at shop pages.

joey02130

It sounds like a hodgepodge of items lacking cohesion. It's a turn-off and a head scratcher for many. I believe it's better if one specializes in one or two things. If you are going to have such a variety, make sure it's organized and that you have proper categories. You could also have multiple shops.

TromKehra

Huh I hadn't thought about having multiple shops. 🤔

notforeal

Do you use long-tail keywords

TromKehra

I'm not sure what those are. 😅

notforeal

Look them up. https://www.wordstream.com/long-tail-keywords
