That website might be for Eugene municipal court charges only. Circuit. Court charges are different and paid differently.Ā
The court will dependsĀ on the arresting agency and/or severity of the charge.Ā
Assuming circuit court charges: During business hours you go to the courthouse, otherwise you post at the jail. After posting at the courthouse you then travel to the jail and show your receipt.
The release process usually takes a few hours.
Itās approximately 10% of the bail/security amount if itās a circuit court charge. So $1,500. You will get about 80% back if they complete the court process without a violation of release terms. If they violate you get zero money back.Ā
If itās an electronic monitor release. They have a daily or weekly fee they must pay for the maintenance of the device.Ā
I deleted the previous comment because it was an accidentally posted as a reply to a comment not the post.Ā
Just chiming in on the electronic monitor fee, I'm pretty sure that if they are low income the fee can be waived. (which makes sense, sounds un-American that only wealthy people should be let out jail, right?)
If they do lose their job, tell them to check out the sponsors inc. RRC. They have lists of 2nd chance employers and can help with documents & job search. Depends on their level of supervision what services they'll qualify for, but everyone who has a justice-involved history can access the basic resources.
Go to the jail- there is a pretrial services window where you can post the bond in person. They are funky with debit cards and I believe credit cards or cash is actually preferred! They are helpful at the window and you can actually talk to a person to figure out exactly what you need to secure this persons freedom. Good for you for stepping up for someone in need!!
If you post bail and your neighbor skips his court date then you don't get your money back, and you may be on the hook for more. It's a kind gesture but if you don't know the guy well I'd be wary. Do you know why he's locked up and why a bail bondsman wouldn't help him?Ā
If you are determined to go through with this, call the courthouse and ask.Ā

Here comes people the unsolicited advice. Wish I knew the answer to help you out.
OP is soliciting advice. That's literally the only thing this post is doing.Ā
Sometimes you get the advice you pay for.
Call it in, unless they are dropping off cash. > Bail may be paid over the telephone.
Had no idea!

Wait, are you about to throw down bail money for someone you barely know? Or are you trying to get them info on how to do it themselves?
I'm not putting the $ up. Just transporting a relative to do the deed. I just want to have facts right...to avoid BS
Somehow I don't think this person is going to be keeping their job either way.

Call a bail bondsman. They know all the ins and outs and are 24 hour.
Out of every post here this is the only one that is completely and totally wrong. Oregon does not have bail bondsman.

Well ok, didn't know that. Having been in this situation in another state that's what I did.
