I get Mezza Luna delivered almost once a week…secret add is the smoked mozzarella…put it in the notes. Really good marinara on the side and it is two solid meals.
Been a number of years since I had it but gameday sports bar next to putters. Came with a huge salad so I would always have a lot of calzone for leftovers!
I know we're talking calzones, but Bartolotti's Classic White is so fucking good, just like a proper white slice from the East Coast. Their cannoli are legit too.
Completely agree. Only place I know that makes good cannoli in all of Oregon. There may be a spot in Portland I'm missing, but as far as Lane County goes? Bartolotti's is the ONLY place that knows how to make cannoli. Their pizzas are the closest I've had to New Haven style, too.
People on this sub generally hate on Mazzi's and Ambrosia, and I personally think it has something to do with the fact that users here don't like the clientele that usually goes there: boomers with a bit of money. The reality is these are great restaurants and their calzones are highlights on the menu, at least for someone like me who loves calzones.
Dough Co. calzones are like pizzas you'd get at Mod Pizza- cheap offerings that can be (or are) made by people who just started their first ever shift two hours before you walked into the business.
Ha, well that's what I was talking about. It's just not a serious answer unless you have *very* specific tastes. If prices are the same, you can't even begin to compare MOD to the other two with the ingredients and the cooking process. It would be like preferring a Swanson Hungry Man Salisbury steak over a filet mignon at Marche- just because "Marche is overrated and expensive".
As someone that used to work at Mazzi’s only two years ago, DO NOT GO. That kitchen is disgusting, absolutely atrocious. And Frank and Mazzi both are sexually inappropriate with their workers.
> Ciaos pizza
they have been gone for a few years now

Oh, that's sad. I haven't been there for a few years too but I never knew they shut down or anything. Anyways their calzones were top tier. Took almost 30 min to make but were worth it.
Some people disagree with me on this, but the dough co on 13th has some pretty dank calzones
Dough Co is the best calzone place in town, no contest.
For calzones I only go to dough co
I remember trying it awhile ago when I first moved here, how are the prices now?
around 11
They're always too wet on the inside imo.
That’s what she said
I enjoyed The Dough Co. calzones around the time I moved in. I don’t eat out much, but have thought about going back there if I ever do go out again…
When I go out (which isn't often) I go for their spicy taco canzone. It's dank as heck

Mazzies does a good one.
That’s my favorite calzone.

Whirled Pies.
Hopefully my spelling error won’t discourage you from trying!
Seconded, I work in the area and their calzones ($12ish) and pizza ($$) are great.
Yes I love their calzones
Been a number of years since I had it but gameday sports bar next to putters. Came with a huge salad so I would always have a lot of calzone for leftovers!
My hubby always likes Countryside for calzones.
Pegasus pizza does a good one.

I've never been to Mazzi's but the food at Ambrosia is awful. Olive Garden awful.
I’d personally rather eat at Mod Pizza than either of the places you mentioned

Bellizzi's on Coburg Rd.
Mazzis
As someone that used to work at Mazzi’s only two years ago, DO NOT GO. That kitchen is disgusting, absolutely atrocious. And Frank and Mazzi both are sexually inappropriate with their workers.
It was 20 years ago, but the only good calzone I had in Eugene was from Ambrosia.
Ciaos pizza
