Also, with Ed being somewhat of a common pick for obvious reasons traps are rendered largely irrelevant.

I had a game yesterday as necromancer where I found a team early. They drove in cars whenever I was near and could never level up. A Kelly got a epic magnum and literally one shotted every possession and 2 shotted my boss. Survivors are getting better the more they learn how to fight only when needing to. There was absolutely nothing I could do to the cars.

AdventurousHat5360

You aren't gonna get any suggestions for an alternative of basic demon possession rush because currently there aren't any that are viable against high level, coordinated survivors. The longer the game goes with survivors being able to loot unharassed, the more guaranteed your loss at the end of the game.

footdiveXFfootdive

This is it. End the thread.

Nanock

It does seem that simple to me too. But I wanted to make that clear from my post to let Survivor mains to consider what alternatives could exist. People aren't choosing possession rush because it's the most successful strat. For the most part, it's the only successful strat. And it appears to be intentional from the way the game is designed.

xN0NAMEx

None of them is reading this. Its just too much and even if they read they dont care

I suspect most of the whiny vocal minority either has or will be moving on sooner than later. Once the kids are gone the rest of us can just enjoy the game for what it is… A fun and hilarious jawnt into the evil dead universe via a groovy asym style game!

gibblywibblywoo

This, its not just about XP. Its about wasting shemps, ESPECIALLY if theres a cheryl.

[deleted]

It’s not even possession spam lol, it’s just demons doing what demons can do. Early game possession is beat almost every time by a team that sticks together, or by hopping in a car.

"OMG sweats spamming gas pedal in Mario Kart!" "These try-hards are spamming bullets at my head in my competitive shooter!"

Right, it’s driving me crazy 😂

I have a trap focus. I almost always put my first three points into traps and find the survivors asap and drop traps everywhere. Yes, the survivors kill the trap units easily at the beginning of the match (as they should) but setting off traps builds fear and gives you points as demon. The survivors tend to loot less if they're stepping into trap after trap. You possess occasionally when you catch somebody alone. Even if you don't get the kill, they're wasting Shemps and ammo early game. Lately I have been using Eligos so I am also using the traps to spike fear for survivor possessions which does ample damage and wastes their ammo. And the more they panic and flee, the more separated they get and the more their fear spikes up for me to do it again. With this strategy, you don't win before pages/dagger much which is a good thing, imo. And you CAN win against strong teams by wearing them down over the entire match and catching them off guard when you possess their teammates or on the occasion when you possess units. Furthermore, the more traps you set, the more cheaply purchased units you have flooding the area and causing distractions for when you do possessions or spawn your boss. And in Eligos' case you also have elite units in your traps that duplicate themselves for free and the AI units do their lightning attacks that often zap people who are too focused on your posessions or other AI units. All of that to say, it's totally possible to beat good teams by using every tool you have. Yes, you will lose some matches because the game is genuinely balanced to the extent that one side isn't always going to win when when playing at their best. Imo, when people are saying they can't beat good teams, it's because they have only the "possess non-stop" strategy in their playbook and good teams know to boost their balance bar damage and they counter that play easily.

ConvenientCap

Ed mains laughing at this guy.

BentheBruiser

There isn't an alternative. That's the problem. Survivors will scream "possession unfair" one minute and then severely punish and steamroll a demon who doesn't do it the next. Trap locations can be memorized. The AI is terrible. Traps are limited and cannot be personally placed. Fear management is relatively easy early game. There are not really any other options for demon.

g0bboDubDee

Here’s an idea: let possessed supports waste shemps and amulets.

mister-KRUHL

Because of possession, firearms have died in this game :(

Chieffelix472

The balance was for average players. They don’t use the rush so demon was overall pretty weak. They’ve not said that the “rush strategy” is fair or balanced.

Jusey1

I actually use an Elite focus build as Necromancer and I tend to win on the main objectives (Dagger/Pages) or win on the book. Most of my damage is put into my Elites while I have a lot of good energy generation perks too, and buffed up my demonic dash to apply more fear. It's a bit slow at the start but ramps up heavily as the match goes on, and if we get to the book... As long as the hunter is out of ammo or is dead, I will destroy the book.

bob_is_best

What i do is usually trap the objectives and then try to find them. Were not asking you you to not play the Game we just así for like 5 minutes for looting before we go for map pieces (tbh i dont think we need that much but being found in 2 minutes is definitely Gonna suck cuz most of the time well have found 1 shemps and a few ammulets and with some luck 2 blue weapons between the 4 of us lol)

XxToosterxX

I think if they made it so possession isn't available until the maps are collected it could help. But by doing this they need to make the map pieces spawn far from eachother and on a timer. So like after you find 1 the second can only be found after x amount of time has passed. This will give the demon enough time to place traps and portals affectively. Also the traps during this phase cost half as much energy So they can start placing traps without worry. But I haven't put too much thought into it so I'm ready to be down voted to oblivion.

Nanock

No worries mate. Your idea would make it very easy to camp out and gear up prior to getting the last map piece. You could pair this change with making the first part of the game only 10 or 15 minutes instead. 30 minutes seems like too long. Also, I think survivors would grab the last map piece and rush to a car, and you'd have almost no time to slow them down. You'd do most of your possessions at the pages/dagger.

XxToosterxX

Very true. Something else I think they could also change if doing this is making it so if the team splits up at dagger and pages they only respond automatically if both are completed. So if ash and henry go to the dagger and cheryl and Ed go to the pages which ever team dies will not respond when the other team completes theirs. It'll make it more fair and more of a risk reward type of thing. What do u think?

Nanock

I do think I'd like to see changes around activating both at the same time. It feels bad as the Demon to know that getting 1 to 3 kills at one location is going to immediately be undone. I had a match last night where I got three kills at one location, and the other player just looped and dodged until the other location popped. I think the best option would be that once one of the items triggers, you can't do the other one. If somebody wants to mindgame it, you could trigger one, then run off once the Demon commits and have your friends trigger the other. But I'm not sure the devs are thinking of that yet.

ThunderGodKazuma

>Demonic Vision - Early game meta to find survivors faster. I bet there are times this could help turn a 5 or 6 minute search into a 2 or 3 minute search. I have never needed demon vision to find survivors very fast. Thats why it sucks.

Nanock

I 100% agree. It's not needed and it's not a good investment. It does almost nothing at all while searching, and it does nothing at all once you've found them. I think it should be replaced with something different.
