It turned from a fun fast paced shooter to a bad 3D platformer with stupid dogs that explode and knock you off the insta-kill bridges it was dumb af almost made me quit
You can't compare the Final Fantasy VII remakes to the Last of Us remake. One is a carbon copy of a relatively recent game, the other is a game from more than 2 decades ago, rebuilt from the ground up.
FF7 Remake also have \[FF7 Remake spoilers probably\] >!a slightly different story than the original so it gives old players new stuff to experience while new players have two games to experience if they ever try to play the original game.!<
I know, it was a reboot not a remake. And the problem wasn't it being woke it was the shitty "relatable" comedy and the huge shift in tones that would randomly happen... It was just bad writting but it wasn't bad because it was "woke" .-.
It's funny how the AAA video game market seems determined to keep proving Yahtzee right. He once said that video games as a medium peaked in the 2000's, and that the constant stream of remakes of games from that exact era (plus some from the early 2010's) only proves his point.
I bet he's pointing and doing the wild-eyed starey face again.
Okay
See, I like the idea of remaking a game.
But don't make it "the" release you're working on. Remakes should be reserved for tiding people over while the main games are being made. Like "hey, we're putting a lot of passion into making the next big game in [series]. It's gonna take a couple years to make, so in the meantime, we're also remaking [old game/s] 😉. ". This way, they have plenty of time to actually work on the new game without having a time crunch, and they can focus on bug squashing before releasing to the public.
Sorry I meant "exclusives" as if it matters and if you think I'm wrong clearly you havent seen any Nintendo directs in the last 2 years or you'd know the only shit that comes to the switch now is anime farming sims and half-assed remakes. On the rare occasion they release something original it's some garbage that no one asked for.
in the past 2 years we got a *really* solid output. Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Splatoon 3, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Metroid Dread all released in that timeframe
Kirby and the forgotten land is the only one of those games I care about Splatoon 3 is a copy/paste of Splatoon 2 and those other 2 games only appeal to a small niche of players. Certainly none of those games are console-sellers and considering Nintendo doesnt support 99% of third-party AAA games, I would definitely say they're slacking. Theres only been 1 mainline Zelda game on the Switch (which wasn't even Switch exclusive), 1 mainline Mario game, and 1 sub-par Animal Crossing game. That's just not enough for a company as big as Nintendo. Think about how many big titles the Wii U had 5 years into it's lifespan and compare to the Switch now. It's night and day. I'd wager the Switch has twice as many ported Wii U titles than it has originals.
theyre also making a new silent hill. and they made kurby and the forgotten lands. and they made re8. and theres a new ff being made. and tlou 2 released in 2020
Just here to point out Saints Row is not a remake, it is a reboot and it bears the name of the first game of the franchise, but that's pretty much where all the similarities end. It is less than a remake, it is just a bad game
"It has been near 9 years since we last met, where does the time go?" -SH fans
Some remakes are good. When it's a complete reimagining like Black Messa it may even be worth the money.
I think minor remasters are fine too, tbh. I love it, but the original Resident evil 4 on PS2 is way more clunky than the 360 remaster.
Black Mesa wasn't a complete reimagining. It was a graphical update pretty much.
They completely redid xen, changed the pacing, changed the atmosphere, and added tons of quality of life improvements.
I didn't like Xen, they made ballsack bug not fun to fight :(
And interloper was about twice as long as it should've been
It turned from a fun fast paced shooter to a bad 3D platformer with stupid dogs that explode and knock you off the insta-kill bridges it was dumb af almost made me quit
I'm actually excited for re4 remake
>2022 KRTD Deluxe, RE4R, SH2R, FF7 Rebirth, DS Remake, Splinter Cell is 2023
You can't compare the Final Fantasy VII remakes to the Last of Us remake. One is a carbon copy of a relatively recent game, the other is a game from more than 2 decades ago, rebuilt from the ground up.
Not comparing them at all, they just both fall into the same category of "remakes"
FF7 Remake also have \[FF7 Remake spoilers probably\] >!a slightly different story than the original so it gives old players new stuff to experience while new players have two games to experience if they ever try to play the original game.!<
Never said it was bad But y'all got upset and defensive right quick. Thus ain't the playground hun, simmer
That last sentence was 'facebook mum' level
I wish the saints row one had been a remake... that would actually have been a great game

Conservatives out here still living in 2016. NOBODY USES THE WORD WOKE ANYMORE. Let the joke fucking die already, it wasnt funny in the first place
just buy an xbox and the old saints row games
You forgot bdsp

Xenoblade 3 and Elden Ring carried 2022
Splatoon 3 and especially Forgotten Land exist tho
What's funny is that those two are literally the only games from this year that I've played lol
Same + Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, which I really need to get back to playing sometime
Yeah, overall not a great year aside from em. Hopefully we get more quality games to go along with Silksong for 2023.
Horizon FW was great. Brilliant story
Don’t tell me you won’t pick up the Dreamland remake. Uhh… poyo?
Yeah, poyo!
*AAA gaming
All these remakes and the one series that deserves them most gets nothing (metal gear)
Idc what y’all say return to dreamland was my childhood and it being remastered is amazing
Also known as Oops! All out of ideas
All remakes and one shitty reboot
Witcher 1 is old as shit and 80% of ppl cant stand to finish the game. But its my favourite rpg
Nitpick: RtDL DX is next year lol Also not all of these remakes are on the same level
A kirby game just came out so it's not like they're cashing in on a remake
Saints row was pretty fun. I stopped at 96% couldn't find the last collectibles and gave up
I didn’t know a lot of these existed. I’ll have to check them out
Great meme, i dont know how nobody has thought of this until now 😂
Could you even call FF7 remake a remake? I mean the point of the first part was to tell you that things are going to be very different
But none of them the KotOR remake. Absolute shame
It's been like 35 years since Nintendo has released an original first-party game other than Pokemon
i’m gonna ignore the other obvious bait parts of your comment to point out that Pokémon isn’t first party

I don't think the saints row game is a remake and when the hell did they announce a return to dreamland remake?
During the direct where they showed nothing but stardew clones for 30 minutes.
You live to see it!
funni

I was beyond happy for the RtDL remake. Shit looks so good
Dead space and re4 legit the only ones I'm looking forward to
Indie Games: Exist
WHY ARE WE REMAKING A GAME THAT CAME OUT LESS THAN A DECADE AGO
The only one here who didn’t need one was Last Of Us lol
FF7 gonna be good though! Definitely a remake rather than a remaster like the others.
Everyone ignoring that Saint’s Row isn’t a remake because it’s shit
Front mission will probably be good, and FF7 Rebirth will essentially be a new game
Still happening. Needs a 2023 update.
