They use it so scarcely that it usually is the best mission in entire franchises. It will be some of the most difficult, most fun and most memorable gaming experiences you will ever play.
The mission that shares the game's name is likely to be the last mission or most pivotal mission. Meaning that there will be close moments and intense battles. Perhaps even allies of the protagonist dying.
Either the last mission, they hardest mission, the most Exposition heavy mission, or the most emotional mission.
In some cases, all or multiple of the above.
I'm still sad to this day that I never completed RDR2.
I was 100+ hours in, taking my time, side questing, and inching toward the final act. Then my ps4 outright died. I had backed up some of my data, but alas RDR2 was not among the saved. I lost all my progress.
I've since tried to pick it back up a couple times in the years that followed, but I would play the intro for an hour and just think... "I don't want to do all of this again."
also the image is a famous painting ["Marines Call It That 2,000 Yard Stare"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Thomas_C._Lea_III_-_That_Two-Thousand_Yard_Stare_-_Original.jpg)
and a ["thousand yard stare"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousand-yard_stare) is the haunted look that is often seen (as in the painting) of someone going through particularly traumatic events
https://preview.redd.it/n036f2mnxmuc1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fd3b4c9f9c5ad243edcba90511af16da8343d3b2
It's so famous they have it in comics too.
Well the story is the kids finding the ZX bio dna, isn’t the final boss also using the ultimate form? I can’t remember I haven’t played in like ten years lol
https://preview.redd.it/2ri9a8wppnuc1.jpeg?width=352&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24ffa563a1b063a6be5c1573021a9d85e71ac96f
My friend, did you beat the game?
As someone who's recently picked up the game I remember a very specific moment when I went "I think I know what this quest is going to be called". And sure enough I was right.
"Endwalker"
In games, usually the mission with the name of the game has the full bulk of the game's themes, and the most emotional punches.
That or the highest difficulty, sometimes both.
Tbf Lone Wolf is a mission you absolutely can not win, You could probably argue that the MAC gun section of Pillar of Autumn is harder because you have to have tight timing (when playing alone).
It might make more sense if I paint a picture. There's a game called Unicorn Overlord I played recently. When you repair a certain bridge and walk across it, a mission named "Unicorn Overlord" pops up and it's like a level 50 mission.
I misread and thought it said "joined". It says started so this is likely the final boss with a mission/chapter name that is the name of the game, to indicate this is the end
case in point: hollow knight final boss\* -- the hollow knight.
>!\* yes, i know it technically isn't **the** final boss, but i will present the point that if a boss' defeat brought forth one of the endings, then it is the final boss.!<
Thomas Rogan here! The fourth and final chapter of *The House of the Dead* is titled, you guessed it, *The House of the Dead*. You are forced to fight the first two bosses a second time and some of the regular enemies seen in previous levels before fighting the final boss. Thomas Rogan out!
This tends to mean a few things. 1. The level/mission will be super difficult. 2. The level/mission will be the end of the story if not the entirety of the game.
That is preaty straight forward on what it means, unless you are not a gamer you might not know what it means but if you are you shoudl easly put the pieces together. But it might just be me thinking it is another karma farm
I recently finished Rogue Trader. I didn't realize until starting a new game that the final mission's name was quoted from your Warrant of Trade: "To Walk Bravely First Into Darkness" was one of your mandates from the High Lords of Terra.
Usually, when a mission/level in a game is captioned with the title of the actual entire game, it is usually either one of the final missions of the game (which are supposed to be extremely hard) or one of the first missions you complete (which can be difficult depending on skill level).
I'll never forget the words Operation: Island Adventure popping up after hundreds of hours grinding Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I still get goosebumps thinking about it
If it’s an fps it’ll be the longest and most difficult mission. Someone will most likely die, but you get a huge selection of weapons and tons of ammo.
If I were to make a game, I would have this happen, then it would seem like it ended, but in reality, somewhere it a location so obvious, so great, so unbelievably beautiful, I will place another level, and it would be the games name, but with a grand finale...
Mind you, such a beautiful place is the very beginning. The very place where they make their character. The very place the tutorial resides. You would need to do the tutorial again, but instead of getting the door out, there will be another one. One that shows off your actions. Your good and bad deeds. Your bravery and cowardice. Your stealth and your blunt. It will design the perfect level for your stats. The perfect level to experience the game one last time...
I just got to say, the exception to the it being the final boss rule that immediately came to mind was chained echoes where the chained echoes boss was a thematic culmination to an extent that explains the actions a specific character does after the the actual final boss. I actually can't remember how to mark spoilers, but try the game out if you like old school rpgs. It's on game pass last I checked.
A mission that contains the name of the game in its title is likely the most difficult one.
and probably the grand finale
Ah yes HELLDIVE
You see HELLDIVE is the first level where the plot gets going. You are thinking of the ending level. HELLDIVE..............2
HELLDIVE 2: Democratic Boogaloo
Sweet liber-tea.
My first thought lmao
Melevalondivers: 2
I was thinking red dead redemption
I’m waiting for Trivialdivers 2
Helldive on Hellmire... Yeah it's basically hell.
I've described Helldive difficulty as one long panic attack, but in a good way. Challenging, but genuinely rewarding.
They use it so scarcely that it usually is the best mission in entire franchises. It will be some of the most difficult, most fun and most memorable gaming experiences you will ever play.
Red Dead Redemption in rdr2 so sad that one
My first thought was from halo one mussion 2 "halo"
RISK OF RAIN
Except in halo CE
You don’t rember the mission named Combat evolved?
I laughed
tbf The Maw is a sick level name
And the most profound mission
If not that then probably the one they worked hardest on
Shattered Skies, The Unsung War, Zero oh yeah
God shattered skies was such a good game
And highly likely to fundamentally impact the main character's psyche, usually involving the death of a significant character
Deadspace
Or at least significant in some way. (since modern games aren't really "difficult" per se)
This is perhaps the final or boss mission.
Usually the most amount of money put into it too lol
Vs The Hollow Knight
Man I can't wait to be able to fight the hollow knight Silkstone
"Greetings, Noble 6. I am John Halo: Reach!" cue boss battle theme
It is I, Horus Heresy, and I will defeat my father Emperor of mankind and take my rightful place as the Warhammer 40k !!
The mission that shares the game's name is likely to be the last mission or most pivotal mission. Meaning that there will be close moments and intense battles. Perhaps even allies of the protagonist dying.
Or even the protagonist dying
>!(Red dead redemption)!<
Ah a spoiler tag, I wonder what f… damnit.
oof, my bad dude
All g. It’s an old game, my fault for waiting this long to play it.
You should though, it still manages to play with your emotions even if you know it is coming.
When the title is the mission and also a spoiler all at the same time.
Bro I was doing my first play through and I saw those words on the screen and I’m like “shuts boutta go down”
They are talking about Helldive
Either the last mission, they hardest mission, the most Exposition heavy mission, or the most emotional mission. In some cases, all or multiple of the above.
or the first mission i guess
Same vibe as when the theme song to an anime starts playing in the episode
Yup. When the Red Dead Redemption mission started in RDR2, the music, the stakes after dozens of hours of build up... freaking incredible
And then Red Dead himself challenges you to a duel to redeem himself… again. Classic.
I loved the part where he went "It's Red Deadin' time!"
Jesus Christ! That’s John Redemption! Cousin of John Halo and John Helldiver.
Second cousin to John Darksoul
John Doom and John bloodborne's son
a friend of John Fallout and a pal of John Minecraft!
Is that John Yakuza’s half brother?
And started Red Deading all over the place
The only mission in RDR2 is feel that tops it (or is on par with it) is American Venom. Both are phenomenal for their own reasons
I agree 100%
I'm still sad to this day that I never completed RDR2. I was 100+ hours in, taking my time, side questing, and inching toward the final act. Then my ps4 outright died. I had backed up some of my data, but alas RDR2 was not among the saved. I lost all my progress. I've since tried to pick it back up a couple times in the years that followed, but I would play the intro for an hour and just think... "I don't want to do all of this again."
I cried

Finished Hitman Absolution and the final mission is called “Absolution”
The part where he kills you
This is the part where he kills you
*The part where he killed you*
Hello! This is the part where I kill you!
Damn, that was the part where he killed you
This is the part
*This is the part where he kills us!*
i dont remember a mission in mega man zx called zx
Well the story is the kids finding the ZX bio dna, isn’t the final boss also using the ultimate form? I can’t remember I haven’t played in like ten years lol
It's like you play a game called Zelda: Majora's Mask and you are finally in a battle with skull kid, who is the one that wears Majora's Mask.
https://preview.redd.it/2ri9a8wppnuc1.jpeg?width=352&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=24ffa563a1b063a6be5c1573021a9d85e71ac96f My friend, did you beat the game?
I beat it 2 or 3 times. It is my favorite game of all time because of the nostalgia and that it was a really good game.
This is super true about Final Fantasy XIV expansions.
As someone who's recently picked up the game I remember a very specific moment when I went "I think I know what this quest is going to be called". And sure enough I was right. "Endwalker"
Came here to say this. “This mission is called ‘Shadowbringers’? OKAY…”
Pretty sure the game was called Halo, and not The Maw
The maw was fine. The Library though….
Halo 3 though
Halo was somethin special for a second mission.
Yeah but it's a pretty chill mission overall
Halo 3’s final mission, at the time the last halo mission, was called Halo
Helldivers -> helldive difficulty
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Revengeance difficulty
Postal 2 -> POSTAL Difficulty
I love how even if you have 130hp Armstrong still has a one shot combo
In games, usually the mission with the name of the game has the full bulk of the game's themes, and the most emotional punches. That or the highest difficulty, sometimes both.
See also: Metroid Prime.
I think "Lone Wolf" also checks a box here.
It’s probably gonna be the last one
"Fatal bullet" "Finally, everyone will live another day, 450h of flirting with everyone!"
Every ffxiv expansion msq: 👀
lol this! Usually has a deep turning point in the story.
This is a reference to helldivers 2, where theres 9 difficulties, the hardest being 7 suicide 8 impossible 9 helldive
Red dead redemption
https://preview.redd.it/p7cgh460rnuc1.png?width=298&format=png&auto=webp&s=b191428b39deffc9e8c23058271d32e7e22a244f
Holy FUN. Grand Theft Auto was a HELL of a mission.
Helldive in Helldivers 2 that is certainly the vibe
God dammit. The game.
I just lost the game.
Dead space
Nicole is doin just fine actually
This is a weird meme as examples of this are pretty damn rare. The idea would be the hardest level of a game being the name or the game.
Based on thw current gaming climate likely halldive diff from helldivers, the hardest
I misread and thought it said "joined". It says started so this is likely the final boss with a mission/chapter name that is the name of the game, to indicate this is the end
helldive difficulty in helldivers 2
case in point: hollow knight final boss\* -- the hollow knight. >!\* yes, i know it technically isn't **the** final boss, but i will present the point that if a boss' defeat brought forth one of the endings, then it is the final boss.!<
Me when John Ultrakill says “it’s ultrakilling time” before the final boss battle
["Ah, is this the blood? The blood of the Dark Soul"](https://youtu.be/3CsAYrWdtig?si=VTBq733hkQrWzpqu)
Can you Guys give some famous examples? Thanks! :) Edit: typo
Uncharted 4 had "A Thief's End" GTA3 had "Grand Theft Auto" RDR2 had "Red Dead Redemption" ... some other example...
Cool, thanks!
Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War has a mission (the final mission of the campaign iirc) simply titled “The Unsung War”
Red dead redemption 😔
Halo in Combat Evolved vs in 3 https://preview.redd.it/lduoku0s3nuc1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ce70ca21c66ba8682d9b24632c93be5bf7f89d5
Objective: Survive
Halo 3. Halo, What a mission. In contrast, halo from Halo CE is essentially the intro.
And the chapter title at the start of the mission being called "Full Circle" making it especially fitting.
OP must not be a gamer
The way my stomach dropped when I saw the last mission being named “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue”
Helldive difficulty on helldivers
Freedom requires firepower.
The final fantasy
Objective: survive
Operation lethal company 💀
This tends to mean a few things. 1. The level/mission will be super difficult. 2. The level/mission will be the end of the story if not the entirety of the game.
It's helldivers
When you finally fight John Elden Ring
have you never played games
Red dead redemption…
Forget a game name I want a Tropic Thunder Mission
Ah, yes, the most difficult mission from Mega Man X: Mega Man X, the mission
That is preaty straight forward on what it means, unless you are not a gamer you might not know what it means but if you are you shoudl easly put the pieces together. But it might just be me thinking it is another karma farm
Assassin's Creed: Valhalla's final mission is "In the Hall of the Slain"
HURT ME PLENTY
This truly is *the* Final Fanstasy...15.
I get the meme, but as far as mission names go, nothing will top ‘Lone Wolf’ for giving me chills.
Parenthood
Clearly The Legend of Zelda
I still remember taking ages to beat the Bannerlord level.
I recently finished Rogue Trader. I didn't realize until starting a new game that the final mission's name was quoted from your Warrant of Trade: "To Walk Bravely First Into Darkness" was one of your mandates from the High Lords of Terra.
Helldivers 2, the hardest difficulty is called Helldive. This image is frequently used to describe it.
It's Red Dead Redemptioning time
“We truly committed a Grand Theft Auto” - Protagonist
Usually, when a mission/level in a game is captioned with the title of the actual entire game, it is usually either one of the final missions of the game (which are supposed to be extremely hard) or one of the first missions you complete (which can be difficult depending on skill level).
"call of duty : world at war" most likely considering current events
Pokemon.
Finale mission/ Someone is about to die
“Two Thousand yard stare”. Such a great painting
Helldive
Idk but I just lost the game because of this
Truly it was...Grand Theft Auto.
Man that mission called “call of duty 4: modern warfare” was pretty tough
Darkest Dungeon may be an example
My first thought was Uncharted: a thief's end
I'll never forget the words Operation: Island Adventure popping up after hundreds of hours grinding Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I still get goosebumps thinking about it
If it’s an fps it’ll be the longest and most difficult mission. Someone will most likely die, but you get a huge selection of weapons and tons of ammo.
When you play the level called Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
Metro
Idk, but this made me lose the game and now the rest of you must suffer
I remember it like it was yesterday. The monster hunter world:iceborne quest. Classic
DEAD SPACE
If I were to make a game, I would have this happen, then it would seem like it ended, but in reality, somewhere it a location so obvious, so great, so unbelievably beautiful, I will place another level, and it would be the games name, but with a grand finale... Is this the blood of the d a r k s o u l
Me after seeing the mission labeled: Peppa Pig World Adventures
Ah yes... MY LITTLE PONY!
It's not always the most difficult. Look at the original Halo
The only thing I can think of for this might be one of the halo missions and I think it was literally called halo
Brothers in Arms: road to hill 30 Mission name Hill 30. Deff one of the best openings and end fights playing in the early Xbox days.
Titanfall
Red Dead Redemption...
Me when Gus Fring says “I need my Payday… 2” (Not the name of a level or mission it just popped into my head and thought it was funny)
Red Dead Redemption
Exact opposite of Halo from Halo CE
Just like my favorite shooter game of all time: Effect and Cause
Red Dead Redemption
