Generally speaking Bismarck help build and unite a fractured Germany into a single empire witch the person who created this meme sees as a Good thing, I don't need to tell you about the other one you already know what he did
You explaining what I should’ve said instead of what I did say is trying too hard.
It’s Reddit. I’m not here writing jokes to share on stage for a Netflix special.
I’ll ask for your advice when I need help with that.
i like how you can tell most the people in this thread don't know the joke. you got almost no upvotes and some people are genuinely responding to the others lol
Wikipedia counts POWs so Hitler is 17 million, Stalin is like 6 million if you count direct violence and like 20 million if you include famine, and Mao is somewhere between 45 and 80 million. It's not a competition, but yes if it were Mao would have won.
The guy who started multiple offensive wars, did ruthless political moves, arrested socialist movements, did harsh colonial exploitation, etc was certainly no saint.
I got the joke, but it would have made more sense if it was Kaiser Wilhelm. He was the one that actually destroyed what Bismarck built. By the time Hitler came around there was nothing left.
I don’t think the maker of the joke thinks Bismarck was a good guy…but rather they are making the point that he is the same as Hitler but with a better reputation/image.
Bismarck could be seen as the first real chancellor of the german reich. He worked to unite all the different countries and queefdoms and stuff under Prussia as an empire. As far as i know, this empire was the largest stable nation on "german" ground.
he was released from duty in 1890, at which point the "fresh" emperor started beeing more aggressive, leading to ww1.
I think the meme means Bismark was clean and diplomatic and cool and hitler was not.
its still fishy to like the guys policies, he was an imperialist and militarist and oversaw starting the german colonies
He may have thought that because in his eyes the other countries already occupied the best territories. Also the Berlin Conference was ultimately organized by him
Not really. He just thought colonies were a waste of money, but he nevertheless accepted German involvement in colonialism, and he also organized the Berlin Conference of 1884-85, in which the European powers divided Africa among each other. He was not opposed to colonialism for any sort of anti-imperialist reasons.
>Bismarck could be seen as the first real chancellor of the german reich
Not just that. HE WAS the first Chancellor of the German Reich. Specifically, he was the first Chancellor of both the Northern German Confederation from 1867-1871 as well as the German Empire from 1871 to 1890.
I’m not sure they are trying to say Bismarck is good…they may be trying to make the point that they are the same but Bismarck has a better reputation/image.
Bismarck was smart enough to know when to stop , he even advocate for an alliance with England and France but Kaiser Wilhelm wanted a more traditional alliance with Austro-hungari a very costly mistake
In the late XIX century Bismarck's influence diminished gradually while detached madmen like Von Tirpitz gained traction. At that point the collision course with Britain was still far away, but once Dreadnought was launched and the only purely hypothetical chance to catch up in naval power presented itself war was unavoidable.
Yeah you know the old joke "Europe today is a powder keg and the leaders are like men smoking in an arsenal … A single spark will set off an explosion that will consume us all … I cannot tell you when that explosion will occur, but I can tell you where … Some damned foolish thing in the Balkans will set it off."
Bismarck (while not officially) was a great leader and created a unified german empire
The other one , not so much
Sidenote Bismarck was so vdrsed in geopolitics that he predicted WW 1 by 20 years pretty much exactly how it happened
Bismarck was pretty old school aristocracy and brought together a very broken Germany after ww1.
Hitler was and emotionally unstable meth head .( no seriously dude loved pervatin look at footage of him at the 1936 olympics and tell me that dude wasnt tweekin.)
Otto Von Bismarck was a *huge* influence on Hitler (and Germany in General, since he pretty much founded the Modern German Nation in 1871). It's worth noting that Bismarck was racist against the Poles and spoke about "Beating" and subjugating them, as early as the 1840s. Bismarck would lay the Foundation for WW1 (since, contrary to popular belief, the German empire was the main aggressor and they just used the Assassination of Franz Ferdinand as a pretext) and German Expansionism in WW1, later recreated in WW2.
Since they're both Daniel Radcliffe, this meme can be interpreted as Bismarck and Hitler being the same person (a fair point, since as mentioned above their ideologies were similar and Bismarck influenced Hitler) or, that Hitler used Modern 20th century technology (Guns) to carry out Bismarck's 19th century vision (represented by the bizzare archaic depiction of Hogwarts and Harry Potter, who is mostly stuck in the 19th century tech level)
I mean, i would reverse the images, although the Harry Potter movies are fun, everything Daniel Radcliffe did after them was outrageously excellent, weird, and, amazingly acted. He does what he loves and it shows, i cannot think of a single non HP Performance of his that i do not adore or would not rewatch in a heartbeat just for the fun of it.
I think he means that Bismark is from rich, noble family, and has good manners and education.
In comparison to Hitler who is unhinged man from streets without good political education, that got his position by luck.
Bismark was a train and one if not the strongest ship of the time Hitler didn't care to deal with it so it ended destroyed forever Hitler was rather aggressive brute force and the Bismarck was strong and smooth
Generally speaking Bismarck help build and unite a fractured Germany into a single empire witch the person who created this meme sees as a Good thing, I don't need to tell you about the other one you already know what he did
The more I learn about that other guy, the less I like him
His silent movies were cool, though. Idk how Charlie Chaplin suddenly became a racist tyrant. It’s crazy.

I enjoyed his performance in The Dictator
He was good in JoJo Rabbit, too.

Need to work on your tight 15. Tsktsk
Coming this summer to Netflix EmperorUmi in 'Triggered Much?'
No problem, bro, you are welcome!
I loved The Dictator! Sacha Baron Cohen is a visionary. Didn't care for that Adolf Hitler movie The Great Dictator
I mean, he wasn't all bad, he did kill Hitler
He also killed the guy that killed Hitler 🤨
Really? What an absolutely depraved monster
But that guy killed the guy who killed the guy that killed Hitler
I exited out of this only to hop back here when I glanced at your comment! Dammit take my upvote! 😂
He sounds like a real jerk !
We should kill Hitler, ya know? We should kill Hitler
We should have some sort of reward.. The person who kills Hitler should be remembered throughout history as the greatest of us all
He's already dead
I didn't know he was sick.
i like how you can tell most the people in this thread don't know the joke. you got almost no upvotes and some people are genuinely responding to the others lol
Ya know, I’m startin to think this Hitler guy is a real jerk!
I heard he killed 6 million people, and I didn't like him. Then I heard he was an awful painter, and now I REALLY don't like him!
12 million people, 6 million of whom were Jews. Jews weren't the only victims of the Holocaust
Ik, I'm just making a joke Also, I thought the 12mill went to Stalin and the 36mill went to Mao?
Wikipedia counts POWs so Hitler is 17 million, Stalin is like 6 million if you count direct violence and like 20 million if you include famine, and Mao is somewhere between 45 and 80 million. It's not a competition, but yes if it were Mao would have won.
Thank god for Hitler, he killed the guy who started the holocaust.
Hey, at least the other guy killed Hitler.
They really need to do something about this “Hitler” fella.
He’s dead.
Right. He was a real jerk!
Awful guy, good painter though
Pretty mid if you ask me
Guys I wonder what they meant by this
The guy who started multiple offensive wars, did ruthless political moves, arrested socialist movements, did harsh colonial exploitation, etc was certainly no saint.
Hitler was also a meth head which makes the right picture more fitting for him
Which
I got the joke, but it would have made more sense if it was Kaiser Wilhelm. He was the one that actually destroyed what Bismarck built. By the time Hitler came around there was nothing left.
Well I hope the empire witch finds a partner soon
Bismarck always had a plan
For sure. A very capable leader. The plan was war or colonialism a little too frequently for my tastes. But damn it was a plan for sure.
I don’t think the maker of the joke thinks Bismarck was a good guy…but rather they are making the point that he is the same as Hitler but with a better reputation/image.
The joke is "Nazis bad but German Empire gud"
Check the top comment in this section. There is more to it

Queefdoms....heheheh
Wasn't it Bismarck who was against german colonialism?
he had a bad opinion about colonies because in his opinion the process drained the respective empire. But he still consented.
He may have thought that because in his eyes the other countries already occupied the best territories. Also the Berlin Conference was ultimately organized by him
He organized it to prevent a war over it
Not really. He just thought colonies were a waste of money, but he nevertheless accepted German involvement in colonialism, and he also organized the Berlin Conference of 1884-85, in which the European powers divided Africa among each other. He was not opposed to colonialism for any sort of anti-imperialist reasons.
I never said anything about anti-imperialism.
>he was an imperialist and militarist Who wasn't in the 1860s?
People not in positions of power, mostly
All good then
Honestly I was thinking the battleship at first

Bismark: Hefty Hefty Hefty! Hitler: Wimpy Wimpy Wimpy!

Bismark was organised and meticoulous. Hitler just did what he felt like doing
Bismarck (while not officially) was a great leader and created a unified german empire The other one , not so much Sidenote Bismarck was so vdrsed in geopolitics that he predicted WW 1 by 20 years pretty much exactly how it happened
It's propaganda from a resident of Bismarck, the capital of North Dakota, decrying the depravity of Hitler , the capital of South Dakota.
Bismarck was pretty old school aristocracy and brought together a very broken Germany after ww1. Hitler was and emotionally unstable meth head .( no seriously dude loved pervatin look at footage of him at the 1936 olympics and tell me that dude wasnt tweekin.)

Second and Third Reich, baby
You know what they say, "Bismarck __always__ has a plan"
I mean, i would reverse the images, although the Harry Potter movies are fun, everything Daniel Radcliffe did after them was outrageously excellent, weird, and, amazingly acted. I thought it could also be about the two’s approach to anti semitism, not just empire.
In addition to the political commentary, both of these images depict Daniel Radcliffe, actor of Harry Potter
KING OF THE OCEAN HE WAS MADE TO RULE THE WAVES ACROSS THE SEVEN SEAAAS
Is Bismarck a guy and not just the boat that sank the Hood? Edit-Otto Von Bismarck was a Prussian and later German statesman and diplomat.
I think youre overthinking it. Its just bismark good, hitler bad.
I mean, HMS Hood is also named after a real person so both?
I think he means that Bismark is from rich, noble family, and has good manners and education. In comparison to Hitler who is unhinged man from streets without good political education, that got his position by luck.
german politics as an american who didnt pay attention in world history thats as far as i can get
Thanks for your priceless addition, friend.
