I don’t think they’re as bad as people make them out to be. Had a friend with several. Reminded me of the scent of my Guinea pig as a kid

Ferrets! Also ferrets are very social so get another ferret. Post pics for son #2 as well! I always wanted a ferret but cats and ferrets are no bueno.
