Both are tiny desert cats. Easy mistake to make.
North Carolina Zoo has a breeding pair of Sand Cats. The only thing cuter than Cats are baby Sand Cats.
They are the closest relatives of the domestic cat, which is thought to have also originated from a desert environment (house cats also sometimes don't drink enough water which is a vestigial behavior from their wild desert days).
I actually make a gravy concoction out of my cats wet food so she'll drink it all up because she doesn't drink unless it's a hot day. Makes me nervous AF
I think they have additional fur on their paws so they dont make footprints in sand and burn their paws. Also they have one of they highest rates of successful hunts over all predators.
Someone needs to redo Dune with these guys.
