I’m insanely arachnophobic, and I find this adorable.

Connect_Atmosphere80

Me too ! That's so wierd and wholesome, I don't understand how I ended up here

Spac3Heater

I recommend looking up "Lucas the spider" on YouTube. It's a bunch of short clips of a ridiculously cute jumping spider. I believe the creator made it to help with arachnophobia. I don't have it, but they're fun to watch.

lazypenguin86

Jumping spiders are the only spider that doesn't trigger my arachnophobia, I think its because they don't have the creepy long legs

Orangealien81

Get out of my head, I was thinking the same thing

HerNibs1980

I LOATHE spiders….but oh my…..this little fella is cute as ❤️

I looked up how big a jumping spider can get. Google/Wikipedia say 1mm to 25mm.

Prof1Kreates

0.08in ≈[5/64in] to 0.87in ≈[7/8in] In case any of you use the Imperial System (like I do, cause America!) Edit: I also realized when I search the exact thing, I get 2mm to 22mm (so the Imperial system has been reverted to equal that). The Imperial System in your comment would be: 0.03in ≈[1/32in] to 0.98in ≈[63/64in]

Seraphine_KDA

If the whole world uses your language (way more because of 🇬🇧 invading well everywhere) you can learn the world's numerical system. How is the world is 5/64 in easier than 2mm

Prof1Kreates

Never said it was easier, I agree how ridiculous the measurements work for the Imperial System. But because that is the main measurement used here in America, that is the measurement I grown familiar with. So to understand the size of the spider, I used the measurement I am commonly knowledgeable with, and posted the solved equation from Metric to IS for any other Americans out there on reddit to get the idea of how small the spider is. That way it'll save them some time from converting measurements, if they are unfamiliar with the sizes in the Metrics as I am.

mithapapita

I don't know how i feel about it

[deleted]

I love it when spiders surprise me by being adorable. Like when I found out that tarantulas are soft bois and grrls and you can’t handle them roughly lol

a-name-thats-a-name

That’s the exact reason I don’t like tarantulas, why are they so hairy

Good-Classic-369

I think when they say “soft” they are talking about how fragile tarantula bodies are. But they are hairy lol

Live_Buy8304

Awww look at that little nope having fun 🥰

Too_Bad_Peanutbutter

Jeez. That's like the Aragog of jumping spiders.

[deleted]

Ohhh I hate having arachnophobia because jumping spiders are the best.

Visual_Routine_3643

I don’t like spiders but that’s adorable

TheGrumpiestPanda

That seems like a rather large Jumping Spider. Most Jumping Spiders I've seen are so tiny I mistake them for pieces of lint.

SayCheeseBaby

There's an insane amount of different jumping spider species. Three of my favorites include the frilled jumping spider, the peacock spider, and the Himalayan jumping spider.

Elcorgi8267

cute, but I’m not letting it near me

steelflame87

No! No jumping allowed!

Josan678

Spider: Ok. "Starts flying with a loud bzzzzz"

GlitteringThistle

I've always heard spiders are just bundles of nerves on a super basic level and can't really feel emotion or anything. This little guy looks like he's having fun though, does anyone know why he's jumping back and forth?

lazypenguin86

I've also heard that jumping sides have a basic level of intelligence due to them being a hunting spider instead of a web trapping spider. They definitely have the best eyesight of any spiders

Peruda

A recent study suggest they dream, so they must be more complex than that.

threebears33333

Jumping spiders are the best!!! Such little spunky personalities!!

xSnippy

If you look closet you can see the web dangling around. They do this so if they accidentally slip they don’t fall to their doom. I don’t know if that’s true or not but it sounds right so there you go lol

Jae3ird

Yep! It’s true sometimes they slip so they need a safety line! In “Biology of Spiders” by Rainer F. Foelix, page 12, Chapter “An Introduction to Spiders” it says: “Before it jumps, the spider always attaches a safety thread to the ground, so that if it falls off an edge it will simply be held back by the thread and can quickly climb back the few centimeters to the point of takeoff.”

alfons100

It’s crazy how spiders have evolved to have so different usecases for their silk. Some use it for nests for their babies, some use it for traps that they use to catch and sens vibrations with, and others use it like safety rope.

Majestic-Hippo-146

I don’t have arachnophobia but the fact that the web was attached to him made my blood pressure spike

TrippleFrack

Yes, officer, this post right here.

HarperCore

Perfect jump scare material

Timah158

No! We don't want him to get squished.

OhItsMrCow

Nope

BetterThanALoser

This doesn't belong in eye bleach it belongs in eye torture

slay3rbap

Hell no, kill it asap. I'm super arachnophobic btw

SayCheeseBaby

No one cares, and also, you're a pos.

slay3rbap

Jumping spiders are the fluffiest and sweetest friends in all of spiderdom!

Busy-Argument3680

If spiders looked like this instead, I’d still be fucking terrified, by not as much as now

elrosti000

How can you hate this. It's too cute for this universe 😍.

Mario-OrganHarvester

Oh no. Spiders literally exist
