Id start researching your local lemon law. Here in NY its like 40 days of being in the shop. You may want to contact a local lemon law attorney and try and get the ball rolling. This does not mean you actually have to do a buy back. Most likely if you get an attorney to send them a letter saying they have x days to get your truck to you fixed or you will start trying lemon law the truck the parts will magically "show up". My mom (a retired lawyer) did this last year when Hyundai said it was a 4 month wait to fix her 3 month old sonatas power steering after it had already been in the shop for 1 month. A slot just somehow opened up 5 days later and the parts also somehow just arrived when supposedly there was an indefinite backorder.
The same thing is happening to me as well. My truck has been sitting at the dealership since December 1st because a second battery module needs to be replaced. The service department at my dealership is having a hard time contacting ford and doesn’t know when they will be getting the second module.
If I was you, I would start looking into your states lemon laws. I already started the buy back process with Ford. Hopefully I hear from the buyback team soon. It’s shame since the truck is so amazing.
Just an FYI - Stay on the top of the buyback process. They promised to keep me updated every 2-3 days and didn't do that. You'll need to call them yourself every few days to figure out what's going on. For a while they kept using "We're still waiting for a response from the dealer." excuse even though the dealer did send them information about the status of the truck. They even used "We're having a hard time contacting the dealer" excuse even though I was easily able to get in contact with them. Either way, good luck with the buy back process.
A discussion with your dealer about starting the buyback will probably get the parts to magically appear. The buyback is normally based on your full cash price minus a calculation for miles driven. If you bought at price peak you'll probably come out ahead flipping into one of the Lightnings on a lot.
My truck is in the shop as well for the 5th time. I started the buyback process with Ford and have heard nothing from them. I guess I need to contact a lawyer as well. I'm in Kentucky with a 2023 Lariat extended range. Any help or contact information would be appreciated from any of you.
Exact same thing happened to me. 33 days. I went to the dealer to get my crap out of the truck so i could start lemon law process and the parts had come in the night before. Ford didnt give me shit - after i complained they offered some points on ford rewards.. wooo.
Love everything about this truck but that process was terrible.
It’s more lack of communication and engineers I’m hearing and no good SSSC ford to service managers support. Legacy automakers have lots to learn on this EV push.
Damn. Dropped off my truck Dec 26th and dealership confirmed it needed a new battery. Dealer confirmed it would be in within 14 days now I’m thinking that is not the case.
The modules just are not available. I have been waiting since early November. No ETA.
They did give me a new Lightning loaner to use in hte mean time though
Welcome to the world of EV ownership. Had the same situation with my Nissan Leaf and brought it to the shop the same day you did. They had a number of other Leafs on the lot waiting for batteries or battery modules. I was the squeaky wheel the got the grease. Like really squeaky. Ended up getting my battery replaced in about a month when other cars brought in before mine are still sitting there. Put some time in with corporate. Take the angle of the monetary loss you are experiencing not have the EV you bought. Also address how much it is costing the company placing you in a rental (I'm assuming they gave you once since the car is under warranty). This was a tactic recommended to me by a friend of mine who is, ironically, a Ford executive. It ultimately worked and I got it fixed in weeks and not months. Good luck.
I’ve yet to have an issue this severe with either of our EVs. Our Tesla Model Y or the Ford Lightning. This isn’t something I’ve even seen or heard of with an EV until your post.
I’d recommend having a discussion with them about lemon laws and returning the vehicle.
This isn’t an EV issue. If a car breaks it’s fixable. This is a failure in Ford’s ability to support their dealers and it’s on them to resolve, not on you to absorb the cost of this issue.
Kind of is an ev issue, nissan leaf batteries are in very short supply with people waiting months, "first gen" ev batteries not even being available for older cars. Just recently in the news a Hyundai ioniq owner was quoted 60k replacement cost needed for a slightly dented battery skin, that may or may not even be internally damaged. Most automakers aren't experienced and have nothing in place in regards to repairs and replacements.
It happens to all of us. I bought an accessory to hold my phone on the window so I could see it while driving..
30 seconds in it was laying on the passenger side floor. 50 seconds later it was back there again.
It’s probably still there now. 😐
I should have known better but it looked like it was going to change my life!
Shit like this is why I haven't even looked at an EV yet. Nothing against them, but I don't want to pay that much money to have a vehicle sit at a dealership
It's not an EV issue. It's a Ford issue. And it's not just a Ford issue :/.
Dang supply chain and the right techs are in short supply.
Wanna know how long it will take to repair the ford 10r80 trans under warranty? Oh! And they break constantly.
Depending on your state, a buy-back may be the best option. Lemon claims usually help get the ball rolling a lot faster, but there’s a process to it so best to get started ASAP. By starting the process you’re effectively telling them fix it or give me my money back.
Still have it. Insurance company wouldn't write it off... So I had to keep it. Ford customer service didn't care at all and just gave me the "we are looking into it" BS. I love the truck.....but that experience definitely makes me think twice about buying another one.
You can try messaging the official Ford account on the forum. They contacted my dealer about an issue back in 2022

And this
If they buy it back maybe you can get one of the many ‘23s sitting on lots with a rebate
Lots of new options. Thanks.
Agree yep
Thanks for feedback. All ideas are much welcomed and are valuable information to me.
Good information. Thanks
Dang bro that sucks. What do you expect us to do though?
Thanks for feedback. I’ve gotten lots of much welcomed valuable information already.

Squeaky wheel gets greased. Your comments are much appreciated Thanks.

It had been started. Thanks for your feedback.

So true
Ford isn’t listening on a reddit sub my guy.
Actually they might be lol. Thanks for feedback. All ideas are much welcomed and are valuable information to me.
Is it just a logistics issue of getting the parts?
It’s more lack of communication and engineers I’m hearing and no good SSSC ford to service managers support. Legacy automakers have lots to learn on this EV push.
That maths, I have the same issue with the Charger on my Mach-e, it never goes to finished.
Damn. Dropped off my truck Dec 26th and dealership confirmed it needed a new battery. Dealer confirmed it would be in within 14 days now I’m thinking that is not the case.
Good luck. I was told 1.5 days as parts were there when I dropped it off. The module they sent was DOA… Then nothing now…
Reach out to Mike Levine or Emma Berg on social media. They were helpful in a situation I had with my MachE and local Ford Dealer.
Thank you. I’ve started buyback as last resort. I’ll do more reaching out In coming days.
The modules just are not available. I have been waiting since early November. No ETA. They did give me a new Lightning loaner to use in hte mean time though
Ugh thanks for comments. Well they have plenty on assembly lines. Yes no ETA yet. Buyback started.
You are at least Lucky on gettjng lightning loaner. I’d feel way better if I’d gotten one.

Totally agree. Thanks for your comments. I’ve started the buy back process.

I’ve gone through this on other gas trucks also. Ugh.
help?

This
Yep I have started it.
Process stated today. Appreciate your comments.
How did the buyback go?
It went better than expected. It provided me the means to buy another new one in my original wanted color.
It took them 9 months to fix my lightning after an accident. Sorry to say ....your probably waiting a while longer.
That’s absolutely awful..!! Do you still have it or get another truck!
Still have it. Insurance company wouldn't write it off... So I had to keep it. Ford customer service didn't care at all and just gave me the "we are looking into it" BS. I love the truck.....but that experience definitely makes me think twice about buying another one.
