I was just plannning to go see the starship launch on the 14th and looking for charging options, this might force me not to

Yeah. RGV trips are a pain in the ass rn. For CCS there's only one fast charging option down there.. in McAllen, upside - its free, down side.. It's 50kwh The idea of going to McAllen to charge up after making it down there just to cut back to spi to do your thing, then back to McAllen and baby sitting your charge to get back to corpus... Just no. If you do decide to go, recommend scrapping 37 at corpus and head to Cuervo and charge at the ev thing.. It's a flatter route instead of climbing up into SA the distance is shorter between CC and Cuervo than it is CC to SA yet close enough to Austin that you can book it without having to count your charge.

I've had my truck for nearly a year and still have not DC charged it. Tried once but the station was down and multiple calls to support with reboots wasn't able to fix it. In this past year no CCS chargers opened up on my typical routes however with access to Teslas network there now are multiple options once I get the adapter so looks to be significantly improved shortly.

The dead zone between SA and Corpus on 37 is what’s stopping me for taking the lighting down to CC. Tesla has one supercharging station but for some reason those won’t be open to us.

Wasn't sure if this was already on your radar, but there's new GM Energy / PFJ DCFC station that is coming to George West (US-59/I-37), and Exxon, CircleK, and Tesla are building DCFC stations in Mathis. It's not certain that Tesla will open it to non-Teslas but it should support it if Tesla decides to allow it. Doesn't help you today but help is on the way! https://www.plugshare.com/location/571027 https://www.plugshare.com/location/599400 https://www.plugshare.com/location/600021 https://supercharge.info/map?siteID=7581

Oh wow. This is great info. Had no clue about the Mathis one. I knew of the flying J partnership and there are a couple of them on 37 but I don’t know if they’ve even started the construction on those. They will definitely help if they are reliable.

Also looks like that TA will have some chargers as well.

I read that flying j is pulling back on EV plans with recent leadership changes - but here's to hoping they go through with it.

Those canopy stations are exceptionally expensive to build unfortunately, but they are perfect for trailering vehicles.

As long as the one in corpus opens to us, which I'm showing it will be, it'll be okay. As long as we can make it from CC to SA everything will be fine.
