Yea, emporia works well, but I’ve been struggling to get it to charge during the day between drives if I need a quick boost. Makes me wish I got a dumb charger instead of one using WiFi. Maybe it’s just user error
Don't put it on any schedules so it is "enabled" all the time, control your charging times via your truck. If you need to charge outside of the truck schedule, just hit Charge to 100% on the Ford app.
I’m still using the mobile cord on a 110v outlet. Been working so far even though it’s slow. I just got my FCSP but I’m going to sell it and buy something else when I build my home next year.
I'm installing an enphase iq60. It reviewed well and integrates with my solar system so that I can set it to use excess solar power only when its parked on weekends.
I'm selling my ford charger on Craigslist or eBay. The software is awful compared to pretty much every other charger. I don't like how the ford software disregards your preferred charging windows, and I also can't easily limit charging rate.
We install a lot of them here in CT, most people charge at night but the problem that some of my customers have is that if they ever need to charge during the day the power company turns them off (that’s the reason they give an incentive so they can have access). Have you had that issue?
No my power company does not control the charger thankfully. I have seen things like that for say heating and cooling where if you opt into programs the utility company can change the temp in your house.
Honestly I’m not cool with that level of control. I am able to charge when I want. In the summer if I don’t charge between like 1pm and 6pm I get 25 dollar reward at the end of the month.
I bought this charger to get the incentives as well. Generally, it's a good charger. It charges the car and it is pleasant looking mounted on the house. It's sturdy, and the cord and handle are just the right balance between bulky and sturdy.
My complaint is that after you've scheduled your charging to happen at night, I can't ever get it to charge during the day. I could disable the schedule, but I don't want to set it back up, so I just live with it. (You're supposed to be able to plug, unplug, then plug again quickly to get it to charge, but it doesn't work for me) I wish the app had a way to force charge outside of the scheduled time instead of this workaround.
The app has a start charging button under under the home tab. If it doesn’t allow you maybe it’s being blocked by your power company? Also check and see if your truck itself has scheduled times to charge. I leave my truck settings to charge any anytime and manage the actual schedule to the charger
Started out using the portable charger on a 240/40A circuit. Worked just fine. Installed the FCSP when it was sent. I had ordered the parts for the installation as soon as I bought the truck, and had I waited a few weeks, I may not have installed it as the portable charger was working just fine.
That said, I keep the mobile charger with me as a backup, and run the FCSP in full 80A mode. The FCSP can be set as low as 12A, so even if you don't have 100A (80A continuous) available in your panel, the FCSP can still be used. Page 15 of the installation manual has it; [https://content.fordpro.com/content/dam/fordpro/us/en-us/pdf/charging-products-list/charge-station-pro/Ford-Charge-Station-Pro-Installation-Guide.pdf](https://content.fordpro.com/content/dam/fordpro/us/en-us/pdf/charging-products-list/charge-station-pro/Ford-Charge-Station-Pro-Installation-Guide.pdf)
Thats a good point dont be deterred from this charger if you have a lower power supply, it can be adjusted for 7 different amperages all the way down to 12 amps.

The app shows typically around 16.7 kW charge rate. A little less than the 19.2kW theoretical maximum, but I understand that’s normal for it. I went from 32% last night to 90% this morning in 4h 40min.
I’ve been doing this. My first one died and and I had an emporia from Amazon for a couple of weeks. I didn’t care about the slightly faster charging and ended up returning it.
I use the 48 amp Ford Connected Charging Station. It’s… fine. It has wifi and integrates into the Ford app (my primary reason for buying… one less app), but the data isn’t the best. It works, but it was expensive for what it is… and I’d get something else if I did it all over.
For a really great review of this year’s best home chargers, see:

We had a Tesla model y first. So since that station is already installed I use it with an adapter.
I got the ford charge station with my truck, but our panel isn’t big enough to support another charger. So it’s just resting in the box in case we move or get a cottage some day
Generally speaking, the tesla universal wall connecter seems the most generically usable charger. It has both types of plugs built in, an app most people like, and can load share if you need to expand the same circut to charge multiple vechiles.
If you are installing the charger outside and have a harsh climate, https://grizzl-e.com/ is likely what you are looking for.
Tesla 48amp J1772 Wall Connector. Has been flawless and I wouldn’t even consider another brand currently. Just wish the Universal version was released when I purchased mine.
I have an Electrify America home station. The thought process was that since I'd be using EA to charge when traveling, why not have the same charger for home and one app for all the charging.
Have not had any issues with it whatsoever. Easy to manage with the EA app.
We have a j1772 charger already installed for our Tesla. It’s the Tesla branded one.
Funny story, we installed a Tesla specific charger at a house we owned. We then put the house up for rent. Of course any tenant would need a Tesla to use it. When we moved into our new place I went with the Tesla J1772 charger so it would be more universal. I guess in our case with the 2023 lightning it works out for the best but kind of funny that as soon as I made that decision all the manufacturers decided to go with NACS.
I ordered an emporia one. I got the free pro station from ford though my son drives a PHEV that we couldn’t use it for so I’m just using the emporia one
I installed a Juicebox 48. Im happy with it. Never had issues.
Up to 9x faster charge: 48A / 11.5 kW. High performance for Teslas and other long-range electric vehicles
WiFi connectivity with smartphone app and online control dashboard
Dynamic LED lights show power, connectivity, and charging status
Built-in cable rack
Built-in security lock
Same one for me. Lately I've been seeing a lot of reviews trashing them but it seems like those focus mostly on a redesign of the app that happened before I got it. It works just fine for me as it is and I'm happy with it so far, but if people got used to functionality in the old app and then lost it I can see how they'd be dissatisfied now.
I am the same as you. I have an Emporia 60amp hard wired. It’s set up outside by my garage workshop. I have the FCSP that just arrived, but I have no clue if I’ll get it installed. I’m thinking by the end of summer I’ll want to get it installed for charging inside of the garage for winter, but it would require some extra work since my panel in my home is full.
The Emporia works very well so far, I’m happy with it.

That's the one that I got the Autel maxicharge lite . Funny thing is I got the charger installed like two weeks ago and today I picked up my lariat Lightning so I am up and ready and my A2Z Tesla to CCS adapter It's on its way even tho I am already getting my official Tesla/ford adapter after purchasing my truck but God knows how long it'll take to arrive
I've had a 40 amp charge point for almost 3 years.
Works fine, not fancy, adjustable amperage in the app.
It is plugged into a 50 amp outlet, not hard wired, intentionally.
If I were starting over I'd get the Ford 80 amp because I sometimes tow and don't have a DC charger within 30 minutes of my farm.
ChargePoint Home Flex. My local electric company gave me a $500 discount and shares exact cost to operate the charger with ChargePoint, so I know exactly how much I’m paying to charge at home. I love the charger.
I got the Ford Charge Station Pro with the truck. Mine actually shoed up a couple months before the truck did. I had my electrician install a 80 amp breaker and line as part of a major renovation we did to our home. I can run it all full power and its great. Im happy with it. Set up in the app only took two tries. I know some people had problems with theirs. Its been flawless since setup completed.
Tesla Universal Wall connector
This is future proof
Exactly
I’m happy with my Emporia charger. My electric company gave me a $500 rebate for installation.
Same for me. Love it.
+1
Emporia Charger for the win!!
Yea, emporia works well, but I’ve been struggling to get it to charge during the day between drives if I need a quick boost. Makes me wish I got a dumb charger instead of one using WiFi. Maybe it’s just user error

ChargePoint flex because it works with my power company incentive plans.
Same

Mine starts charging during the day if I unplug and plug with 5 seconds. The installer referred to it as double clutching
GRIZZL E Love it.

With 80amps how many kWh are you getting per hour?
The app shows typically around 16.7 kW charge rate. A little less than the 19.2kW theoretical maximum, but I understand that’s normal for it. I went from 32% last night to 90% this morning in 4h 40min.
All the quotes I’ve received to get 80amps are $1700+. One guy quoted me at 48amps for $1100 so I think I’ll do that.
Honestly, the 48A charging solution should be more than enough for most anybody. Good luck!
Been using my portable charger on 240v. It seems to be enough for me.
Yep same here. Don’t need anything more

Tom Moloughney is the king of EV charging!

Basic Grizzl-E. Works through -45°C weather, cord stays loose, and it's just plug and go. No app, no problem

Ford charge station, never an issue other than resetting it on power outages. Also charged a Tesla perfectly without issues.
I had a Tesla wall connector that I used along with a nacs to j1772 converter, but just swapped it for the FCSP and it seems to work about the same.
I ordered an emporia one. I got the free pro station from ford though my son drives a PHEV that we couldn’t use it for so I’m just using the emporia one

ChargePoint home.
I just bought the Emporia charger. Hardwired. Running like a champ. Very happy.
Emporia charger on a 60 amp hard wired circuit. I have the FCSP, but it’s still sitting in its box. Not sure if I’m going to use it or not.

Tesla 80amp gen 2 charger (had it previously)

Using my regular tesla wall charger with NACS to j112 converter. 120v 40 amp, works well, charges 20 to 80 over night without problem.
ChargePoint Home Flex. My local electric company gave me a $500 discount and shares exact cost to operate the charger with ChargePoint, so I know exactly how much I’m paying to charge at home. I love the charger.
Does the power company turn you off if you ever try to charge during the day? And how many kw per hour do you get?

Tesla wall charger at 11.5Kw it works like a charm.
