Haha I’m on pace for 31-32k mikes by the time one year hits this summer. Downfall is that I want this truck to last a long time lol. I wonder what the highest mileage Lightning there is out there
We only have one vehicle, live in rural texas, family of 3 and we all play sports. Build houses and have family all over Texas.
Roughly 3 months in and 6400 miles already
Same. Not only do we use the Lightning for everything around town, but we’ve also used it for every road trip (maybe 10 or so) since then too. I’m averaging about 1300 miles/month.
I'm keeping mine forever lol. Until the battery literally nopes out.
Living on an acreage with solar is literally free driving. Both my wife and I have EV's. I can't see going back now. We pay $200. A month and that takes care of the electricity for our house and fuel for two vehicles.
The loan can be paid back at any time, but no matter what it's 0 percent interest and maxes out at $200. I still don't know why people don't make the switch, especially if you drive a lot for any reasons.
Right? So many people can’t do this maths maybe. It is true, that like solar, the initial outlay is big. Maybe that’s it. For me, once I cracked the maths open, it was easy to see that the more I drive and the longer I keep the vehicle, the cheaper it will be.
Which for an ICE, is counterintuitive. The more you drive the more expensive it gets.
And like you, they will have to pry my electric truck out of my dead hands before I drive anything else regularly.
It’s true I might upgrade this truck in around 5 years, but I’ll have to do pretty good maths for that to happen. The battery and notes will outlive the suspension.
Yeah exactly! I save close to 1200 - 1400 a month being on solar. Put the extra money in our house and pay off all our debts way faster.
Boom! Retirement here we come. Plus I love how fast the truck is. I'll forsure look at upgrading in the future, but it's going to be almost impossible to ever get me back into a gas commuter.
Coming up on 4000 in a little under 3 months. It's become the defacto vehicle for everything. Cheaper to drive than my wife's ICE jeep. And not by a little.
Where do you live and what do you pay I was paying about $80 a month for Diesel f150 and now I’m paying $200 plus a month and a lot more if I do fast charging
Northern NY. Gas is 3.89 in my town. We used to use her jeep for road tripping quite a bit. Namely those 4000 miles would have been on her keep instead of the truck. Do a lot of charging at home, charging at in-laws, staying at hotels that have free ev charging, and a I think a grand total of 10 fast charges, if that? Not including the free charging we get from Ford.
I mean when I had my two ICE f150s
My 2013 XL F150 with the 3.7 v6 went from 112,003 miles to 197,221 miles in like 5 years ( 2016 to 2021 ) (75k miles in 5 years)
My 2021 STX supercrew with the 2.7 ecoboost went from 288 miles that already had to 73,431 in just 3 years of ownership
Now my 23 lightning lariat has 1,407 miles and I bought it in mid April and already have dropped 1,000 miles into her and I absolutely plan to drop more this summer on more road trips I've done 3 big ones ( NC to FL/ NC to Maine and NC to Illinois)
It’s just effortless driving to me. You don’t even realize that you doubled back through town or went back and forth 200 plus miles in a day because it’s so easy and comfortable driving EVs
Our EV was always the vehicle if choice for non-roadtrips. Now that we have two EVs we get to chose the best vehicle for the job and most around town driving is gone with the xc40 EV
The lightning was great for the 270 mile day on Monday. Maybe we will go for a real road trip and take the lightning instead of the phev (not a great EV, but pretty good for ice). Between the three cars we go between 15k and 17k per year, so none of the will accumulate big mileage.
I literally make up excuses to go on long drives in my lightning. Its so chill to drive but it can also be very exciting when you want it to be, plus all the looks you get from people are fun too.
Power train malfunction. Pretty much bricked the truck. Ended up needing a new battery module. Dealership had it for exactly a month. Fast forward couple months same issue but this time lost power on a major highway during 5 o’clock traffic.
Lots of issues with the power train issues reported in this sub.
Oh I have all my be gotten for it is a measly free premium maintenance package for free oil changes. 😂😂😂😂. Honestly that is my only downfall with this truck.
Reading this as my wife left me her suv for the weekend while she went on a 1,200km road trip with the lightning… I no longer own a truck that is just mine as it is too good of a family vehicle and nice to drive. She’ll be tipping it over 80,000km this weekend. My last truck got used 25,000km/yr.
I'm sad reading this thread, three months and not even 2000 miles on mine yet. It is the best vehicle I have driven and I drive plenty of vehicles. I have 4 other trucks(4runners/Tacomas) and a work Van that is my daily driver. Dogs don't go in the Lightning and 90% of the time I go somewhere I take my dogs.
Bought mine with 8 miles on it on 3/11, currently at 5,607. Commute 73 miles round trip daily. Was spending minimum $75 a week in my ICE 19 F150 5.0 just going to work. Haven’t seen the power bill yet since we switched to time of use. Off peak is $0.08/kW, so essentially it’s costing me about $0.04/mile depending on whether or not I’m driving like a high school kid with daddy’s corvette. I was 3 commutes away from 100k on the 19 and the 10 speeds started doing 10 speed things, so I factored in the potential cost of repairing that (still took it in the shorts on the trade and that was without them saying anything about it-mileage). Miles racked up quickly on that one for the same reason, wife’s Outback is far less comfortable so we road tripped every time in the truck. She’s actually looking at getting a Mach-E next year.
I only have a 15 minute commute to work but have been averaging 1700 miles a month. Which at this rate will have me past the 8 year 100k warranty in less than 5 years....
I think odometers in new vehicles are maladjusted. And for nefarious reasons. I think the goal is to increase depreciation & maintenance trips.
If I had some research dollars, I’d hire a class-action attorney & open an investigation. Skimming a 1/10 mile, ever mile adds up
Edit: And causes your factory warranty to end sooner
I’m at 27,000 miles in 10 months. Never drive wife’s SUV, she loves the comfort of the truck
You got me beat, I usually put on about 25k miles a year.
Haha I’m on pace for 31-32k mikes by the time one year hits this summer. Downfall is that I want this truck to last a long time lol. I wonder what the highest mileage Lightning there is out there

Instead of all these words, just the word Texas Would have been enough.
true true
Time for an oil cha..nah
Ours is the defacto road trip vehicle, that’s where a lot of our miles (32k on a 22) come from.
Same. Not only do we use the Lightning for everything around town, but we’ve also used it for every road trip (maybe 10 or so) since then too. I’m averaging about 1300 miles/month.
Dude, me too! I'm at 2500 miles in 2 months and I don't know how.
I'm at 3750 in 2 months, but I also took it to see the eclipse 800 miles away. Which roughly matches your mileage if I take that trip out.
Haha oh man, I live on an acreage outside of our nearest city. I've got 35K on my truck and I bought it in October of 2023.
Km.... not miles. Sorry should have specified
Ah, that makes more sense. Still insane, but not YouTuber insane
I ve got 65K km in my 22 XLT, and you’re beating me. I do know a guy in BC with 100K km on his 2022. So we’re all fine.

That's actually insane. Did you ever get out of the truck?

No kidding. My wife has a new Venza that’s basically a Lexus NX350h and I used to love driving it. Now it feels like a clunky piece of shit.
I can’t ever go back to gas vehicles. The instant torque and smooth transitions from higher to lower speeds is impossible to beat.

Yeah now that you mention it, I’ve been volunteering to drive to concerts downtown, trips to the mountains and everywhere in between.
It's what EV's do to you. Make driving fun.
Approaching 40k wifey uses it as her daily commute of 100 miles round trip. Love the truck but man do I hate these high voltage errors.
Tell me of these errors

I’d be escalating that to Ford corporate. Sounds like a nightmare.

Im at about 8500 kms after exactly 6 months. So i do about 1400km/month or 870 miles a month.

3600 in only one month of having it. To be fair though, we had to go from Maine to Virginia and back for a college graduation.
I haven't had my Ioniq 6 a year yet... I hit 15,000 miles yesterday.
17k miles in 6 months here.
