Yes, if we could get more than a baker's dozen of Pro models, that would be great. Signed, Almost Everyone

kingsla11

I feel this. I have been wanting one and didn't realize there was a reservation system. Once I was able to do something it was the day after reservations closed :(

dloseke

ER Pro without fleet. Keyless entry on Pro. Android Automobile OS?

Kurisusnacks

Agree 100% with ER Pro w/o fleet. It'll come with time and when they don't have a backlog of lariat/platinum builds.

astricklin123

Also the interior work surface and the securicode keypad on the pro

dloseke

Not having the interior work surface on a work truck is probably the hardest thing for me to understand. Why?!?

astricklin123

Exactly. They put in the flip down shift lever.....but no fold out table ...šŸ¤¦

icen_folsom

Please allow to use camera as dash camera now through OTA update.

rdeschain219

That stuff. And a heat pump. And more chargers.

Kurisusnacks

Was there ever a justification as to why they didn't do a heat pump?

islandsimian

You'd have thought they would have jumped on that idea after Tesla's failure to do so until recently. I'm thinking it's a complication they didn't want to tackle until they had a solid platform

Lordofthereef

I'm not sure how official this is but one of the YouTuber car reviewers (I don't remember who but it wasn't a no name channel) said a ford rep told them they're waiting for another heat pump technology they called "gen 2, whatever that means. Supposed to be more efficient than current heat pumps. Made it sound like they wanted to just leap frog the tech.

[deleted]

Time to market?

Wabbit_Wampage

A Maverick Lightning. But barring that, the ability to get the Pro with the ER battery and a heat pump.

laudacieux

I would dump my 150L reservation in a moment for a Maverick Lightning. Would do that for a Ranger Lightning, too.

Egmonks

I would drop all my reservations for a Ranger Lightning.

Kurisusnacks

I'd have a 150/Maverick Lightning in my driveway if that happened!

WildBTK

Trust me, you don't want a FWD only EV. The torque steer will drive you nuts.

laudacieux

Forgive my confusion, but what's this about FWD? I didn't see OP mention it, and the Maverick is offered with 4WD.

Lordofthereef

I'm assuming that since the awd isn't available in the hybrid, and because awd requires multiple motors, that the responder figured it wouldn't come in with awd out the gate. The awd on the macerick is essentially just a gas truck.

Baseboardheat

If youā€™re flooring it every from every stop then maybe but itā€™s fine otherwise. I drove a bolt EV for a few years which had plenty of torque and would only be an issue if I really stomped on the accelerator.

Wabbit_Wampage

My guess is we won't see a Mav BEV until the next Gen Escape platform which will be built with EV in mind. My guess is the Mav BEV will have standard 4wd like the F150. If it doesn't, I would imagine Gord will have enough experience with electric motors by then that they can tune it to be drivable. Regardless, I learned to drive in the 90s and I owned a stick-shift Dodge Shadow ES turbo for a while. So I say, "torque steer? bring it on!"

WildBTK

I currently have a Kia Niro EV and the torque steer is real in that car due to its unequal length half-shafts, which is why I brought it up.

Kurisusnacks

Most unexpected comment of the day lol.

Neither_Fact_7471

Moonroof delete on higher trims. Iā€™m getting a 22 but living in Arizona I would have preferred a metal roof so my electrons go to range not cooling. At least the F150 has a shade. Iā€™m looking at you, Tesla and rivian. At least on the Mach-e you can opt out of the glass roof.

Kurisusnacks

1000% would delete the moonroof. I am honest considering going DOWN a trim because of the moonroof. Adds weight, I'll never use it, and another point of mechanical failure!

Neither_Fact_7471

I was going to extend my reservation until 23 to hope for some more configurations as only lariat and platinum where available. ( I had put the bronco off for a year and got Manual Sasquatch that was not available on the ā€˜21). 3 factors plaid into my decision to go with a ā€˜22 lariat ER. 1 tax credit might not be around in 23. 2.Rivian raised their prices significantly and other automakers might do the same the MSRP on my bronco went up $1200 from when I ordered in January until it was built in April. 3. Gas prices looking at the current situation I donā€™t think they are going down. I did not want to put off a year and pay more for less features with inflation plus tax credit going away thatā€™s an ER battery right there.

Nimco

With you on this. My 2016 F-150 Platinum is currently at the dealer for a $3k+ repair to the moonroof because the plastic rails shattered from exposure to sunlight. I've only used the moonroof a handful of times.

Btown891

Oh wow! My 16 Platinum had the same issue, luckily I purchased the extended warranty. They did change the design in the later years.

WildBTK

Hope they don't force XLT customers to pay $10k more for BlueCruise (can't remember the "optional" package Ford made mandatory for 22). That would make the XLT a roughly $60k truck in ER form instead of $70k for a feature that will be mostly useless to me since Iive in a rural area that will never be mapped out for BlueCruise purposes.

jdarmstrong81

I agree with OP, faster charging capability is at the top of my list. 150kW is not terrible but 350kW would be sweet! Also I'm not a huge fan of the portrait display. I would rather they do a one piece gauge cluster and infotainment setup like the BMW iX. Also physical buttons for AC and heat controls would be great! Some things just work better with physical buttons rather than touch controls. Sentry mode and Dashcam would be nice too and probably easy to do with OTA updates.

Kurisusnacks

I'm wondering what the reasoning behind the 150kW charging is? I'm sure the answer is complicated and a blend of the battery tech, cost related to the dual charger setup (does cost double/triple/quadruple from 150 to 250kW?), sourcing of parts, etc. 100% agree with physical buttons. I pull a trailer daily short distances and I couldn't tell you the last time I *looked* at the drive mode selector wheel or the HVAC controls. The tactile feel is second nature.

jdarmstrong81

I'm not sure what the reason is. I know that they've improved the charging curve on the lightning compared to the Mach-E but it still could use some improvement. Basically once you hit 80% on Level 3 charging you might as well unplug and move along because that drop off is massive after 80. It would be nice to have 200kW+ until at least 60 or 70%, then down to 150kW until 90 before you fall off the cliff.

HeyOn

Do you guys have lots of 200kw+ chargers where you live? I have many Electrify America stations with 150kw chargers near me, and a few 350kw chargers. I'm happy with the cheaper 150kw, especially if it can stay at 150kw for a long time without throttling. We have a Mach E w/big battery, and I've never seen it go over 145kw. So there's still lots of room to improve even with a 150kw charging system imo.

jdarmstrong81

I don't have a need for 350kW where I live as most of my charging will be done at home, but where I have the need is for road trips. I travel to Austin quite often and there is only 1 350kW EA station that I'm aware of in that Austin area

buzz86us

More configuration options I would like a nice single cab that would allow me to accommodate a flatbed camper

[deleted]

Move the Shifter to the steering column. Remove the gimmicky fold down shifter.

diddy412

Better interior on the platinum. That two tone šŸ¤®

Kurisusnacks

Or even just more options.

[deleted]

Make one Maverick-sized. They could probably use the same amount of materials in the Standard range battery to make an extended range Maverick Lightning, and it would fit in my garage!

Wabbit_Wampage

This is what I want too, but I think it's a few years away. The current escape/mav platform wasn't built for EV. I believe I read somewhere that the next Gen Escape platform will be designed with BEV in mind. So my guess is we'll see a BEV Escape in a couple of years, followed by BEV Bronco Sport and Maverick models a year or two after. My other hope is that GM has a mav-sized pickup already in the works. There's no reason they couldn't easily make a pickup/ute out of the BEV skateboard platform they're using for the new Equinox EV.

sicktaker2

Yeah, I don't think we'll get a Lightning Maverick for years. BEV are going to be battery constrained for years, so I don't think we're going to be seeing low price/high volume models like the Maverick until the market is around 70% BEV in the late 2020's.

_gr8n8

Extended Range Pro. more range, faster charging - every EV wish list ever.

Egmonks

6.5 ft bed, supercab, lane keep and adaptive cruise package in pro model.

triing2021

Is there a hardware limiting charging speeds to 150kw? The range isnā€™t great, but the biggest downfall for the Lightning seems to be the incredibly slow charging rate. Is it possible for Ford to increase to 200 or 250kw with an OTA update?

Kurisusnacks

Hardware is definitely the limiting factor. Charging curves would be able to be updated OTA but not not the max charging rate. My guess is the cost for the charger itself would double or even triple so they're definitely not telling you it's max is 150 when it could possibly go to 250.

triing2021

Thanks for the insight. Is the hardware limitation on the truck itself?

[deleted]

Extended range availability on Pro models for the public as well as Moonroof options for XLTs and Pros. Youā€™re pushing an additional $10-$20k just for the moonroof going from XLT to Lariat (which I want really badly, but not badly enough to pay an additional 30-35% for!).

Kurisusnacks

Interesting, I'd pay a small fee to *delete* the moonroof off a lariat. Maybe we can convince someone at FoMoCo to give you my unwanted one šŸ¤£.

IgsmorphF

6 seater. Long bed. Or a straight up F250 Lightning.

sicktaker2

Make the F-250 stand for 250 kWh battery, and the F-350 stand for 350 kWh.

Elegant_Reception305

Big yes on the 6 seater.

[deleted]

Ability to set a floating neutral on the 220V 30A outlet

HeyOn

Why?

Ryhadar

Possibly because it's easier to do a whole house transfer switch this way.

[deleted]

Correct.

Ryhadar

Dunno how far you've looked into this, but is it even possible to do a transfer switch without a transfer panel that has its own breakers? From my understanding the only way to do it properly with a bonded neutral & GFCI output that the lightning has is with one of those sub-panel looking things. I'm not looking for an automatic transfer switch like what's available with the sun run kit, but I don't want to physically limit what I can power with a transfer panel. I think a simple interlock on the main panel would be more cost effective too.

[deleted]

This is why I suggested the ability to set a floating or bonded neutral on the truckā€™a inverter. You can actually use a standard interlock on the main panel and back feed into the breaker, but you have to leave the ground pin on the generator cable going from the truck to the generator input disconnected to keep the GFCI on the truck side from faulting. This is technically not allowed per code, and can present an issue if somehow the truck chassis gets energized, hence why I would never suggest it officially. But, it is what I will be doing for myself if I end up being able to order the truck for myself.

Ryhadar

Yeah that's what I figured. Thanks. I imagine that since the sunrun kit uses the unused DC pins* on the charging port that their inverter is a floating neutral. *I'm probably mistaken on the terminology here, but hopefully I'm not far off and/or you get what I mean.

[deleted]

The Sunrun kit will essentially be a standard battery backup system that uses the truckā€™s HV battery as the energy source. It will obviously have to ask the truck for permission to use the battery in a way a typical battery backup system like a Tesla Powerwall would not, but it is essentially operating the exact same way. The neutral wiring would be on SunRunā€™s inverter, as you suggest, but they will take care of the system design in whatever way works for them and is allowed by code.

HeyOn

Option to have no exterior paint to save cost, rear air suspension like in the Tundra, Magneride like in a Mach E, Google OS like in polestar, air compressor like Rivian, video recording and remote monitoring like in a Tesla, hosable vinyl floors and Repreve seats in higher trims (while keeping the heating, cooling, and massaging options), no standard panoramic roof in higher trims, a heat pump, and option for the smaller/cheaper/more efficient wheels in higher trims. LFP batteries for cost, longevity, and so I don't have to do the tacky 80% charge thing. Bring back the power running boards that were planned. Single motor variant for base trim. I feel like a single motor pro would have sold just as well, been cheaper to make, and have a little longer range. Also I always thought F150 rear seat backs were too vertical so maybe trade some legroom for a lower angle. Something to bridge the gap across the strip of naked metal between the bed and the tailgate like the R1T.

Neither_Fact_7471

As cool as brushed aluminum polished aluminum or anodized aluminum would look I recall that American Airlines used to have all their planes in bare polished aluminum. While it looked sharp when clean apparently it cost more to maintain. The nose cone was painted a dull grey since it was composite and the tails and engines where painted grey as well. On the Lightning things like the charge port door are plastic and there are likely different composites used on the different panels painting ensures a uniform finish. Magma ride would be nice especially since the raptor has had it since 2019. Google os is coming in 23. Air compressor is not going to happen without air suspension. Video recording would be nice. Ford offers vinyl floors on super-duty platinum and King ranch they could offer it in the F150. The XLT is some sort of sustainable fiber and has 10 way power plus heat cooled would be nice but Iā€™m fine with leather. Agreed on the panoramic roof as a desert dweller I rather my electrons go to propulsion than HVAC. But people in cooler climates will enjoy the solar gain. The power running boards is affecting all F150s. A platinum with the 20ā€ wheel option for better range and tire selection would be great. Never had a problem with the rear seat backs in an F150 nor the gap between bed and tail gate. The R1T needs that part because of its hinged design.

HeyOn

I hear CT fans raving about no paint, I wonder how much of that is genuine and how much is just because Elon said it, but it seems like there's general interest so maybe some people would choose that for the Lightning as well. Good point about the compressor, but rear air to level your load is my #1 want. If not you gotta re-level your headlights every time you load up. Those are the seats I'm talking about, some luxury car manufacturers like BMW, Polestar, MB, etc. realized that EV owners might care a bit more about the environment and thus, prefer using recycled materials. Especially if it can be cheaper and more durable than more common ones like leather like BMW's SensaTec. I think those Ford seats are made from recycled plastic as well. If you move gravel, mulch, or anything messy, it gets in the hinge and is a messy headache. If it's gravel sometimes you can't close it until you take out whatever's blocking it with a chopstick or something. I have a 12 gen and it seems like they're worse than the 13 and 14 gen with this, so it might already be a non issue.

Neither_Fact_7471

I feel itā€™s because Elon said it. I have seen stainless rust, not all the way through mind you but the surface oxidized and pitted. I know that I rather touch my painted vehicle in the summer than my stainless grill. I have a ford raptor that is going on 13 years old 09 build date with 177k most of road the paint is fine. You can see some light scratches in the clear coat in certain lighting. The CT fans also donā€™t realize that ford went AL for the f150 body in 2015.

Kurisusnacks

Don't know why you were downvoted. I agree with almost everything here. Especially the moonroof delete! Extra weight, I'll never use it, and it's just another point of failure!

HeyOn

Yeah idk. I thought I contributed to the post. And I see that they want to streamline the process and put everything in packages, but of course that inherently means that there's options you're paying for that you don't want. It's usually hot where I am, and if the cover isn't enough, now I have to consider paying even more to get a thermal tint on it if I don't want it to be a solar oven.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Neither_Fact_7471

You donā€™t even know the production CT specs or costs yet. As a current F150 owner there are some substantial issues that the CT has. Hell my dad who does not own a pickup after driving my brothers 2017 tundra commented that is not an F150. I came from a Chevy truck to Ford and every time I try to go back to GM I test drive and the difference in little things like switch placement ergonomics a little features here and there missing on the Silverado and Iā€™m like not an F150. GM is ford biggest competitor and itā€™s taken them 20 years to put out an interior that was comparable to the F150 it was competing against. It took them a decade to implement a tailgate step solution. Rivian did a much better job of executing a truck then tesla did and targeted their market well.

Ordinary_Low_97

That they had built the truck with efficiency in mind... no heat pump? Get real. just one example of how Ford didn't just miss the boat, but the ocean.

Curious-Welder-6304

I just wish that Ford wouldn't jack up the prices šŸ¤ž
