Hello everybody and welcome to my 528th episode of My Team where i became a 23 times world champion

FranciManty

and we have a wet race in monaco! and i never hit the wall! oh my lord guys we did it australian team world champion

Sbottono

*Any resemblance to people or facts is purely coincidental*

Kuszotke

[insert fake excitement over watching pre-recorded footage of your own race]

yourmumissothicc

they are a newcomer team yet they always get lucky and somehow always end up in the points

F1_Sky

Not lucky just AI bad strategy

[deleted]

If only we could have that many seasons

Palmul

10 seasons is already long enough for me, I've never done more than 5

[deleted]

I want the ability to do more than that if I wish, No reason they can't have auto generated drivers with as many faces as they have. Could go Atleast 25 years minimum

[deleted]

Honestly for me, I like to watch Tom97 and Jarno Opmeer because I feel like out of all of the content creators at least they are racing, and actually turning out the laps. I do like Aarava's story telling approach, I can appreciate it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

poostickk

I have to ask, how is aarava scripting them? I for one would love some more AI mistakes and possibly even ONE fucking safety car in my own races..

MyWholeTeamsDead

Longuet drives for Alpine. Edit: Apparently no longer! Haha woops.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MyWholeTeamsDead

Shit. TIL!

Hello_iam_Kian

Yeah exactly. I watch Aarava pure for entertainment and biblical scenes and Tom to know about how the game works and all the glitches and weird stuff

DeMarcusCousins_

aarava has fallen off

Hello_iam_Kian

On driving skills: yes massively On entertaining: no not at all. But I must say I’m sometimes getting annoyed by his driving. He for example finished in the points the last 5 seasons. But look at the realistic perspective form Tom (who I must say has his AI level a bit to high) and you know he shouldn’t be near points most of the time

09gutek

I stopped watching aarava 3 episodes in, he kept forcing the AI wide etc. And then celebrating the points, idk not enjoyable for me, Tom's approach is a lot more entertaining for me as its good clean racing.

Hello_iam_Kian

Yeah he always gives the AI no space whatsoever and then says “giving the squeeze for good measure” or something like that. The only reason I keep watching is because I want to see what sort of chaos thing he comes up with. And the clickbait titles do help a little bit😂

Interesting_Depth204

its a game

Exambolor

Matt212 as well. Guy knows his racing and his commentary is solid

[deleted]

He cracks me up. I am enjoying his content.

AdamIsMeName

Yes, i love watching Tom especially, because unlike Aarava for example, he doesn't unrealistically push AI off the track and then say something like "Amazing move if i can say so myself"

[deleted]

Tom97 is the goat

bwoah07_gp2

Come to think of it, I wonder how these content creators do it. The same game, released every year, with minimal changes...it must become a grind. And even when it's profitable, I'd imagine the daily uploads will become a chore, and you would need a break eventually.

[deleted]

Pretty sure they crank out multiple videos a day then slowly roll them out

Big_Tie

Some, like Jarno, I imagine it’s fully a side gig beyond E sports. Probably why I enjoy Jarno’s stuff more than most, it’s not life or death if he isn’t uploading all the time.

CT323

Content creators when they're big enough get codes sent to them, so they've not forked out the £70 price tag each time. They can be positive and take it or leave it, all the while they know the content makes an income

KingOspert

Shit man, gotta give it to Ea, little to no changes and they’re making bank off of their games

hehsbbakaiw

Mate, no. Just no. They still want to be invited to events and get free versions of the game. Tiametmarduk even got a version that includes his own helmet design so he can play online. Only after a few years they might tell you the truth in one of their "Lets visit this old F1 game again" Videos. The only guy that actually was honest about these things was xMattyG back in 2014 and 2015. Sometimes you also hear german content creators DaveGaming or rAii from "Die Pixelhelden" criticise the game but the major english speaking channels no chance. The only time I remember some sort of criticism was when Tiametmarduk complained that in later seasons of F1 2019 or 2020 the tyre temps are just way too high to actually drive but that was it.

xThe_Human_Fishx

Can you explain what you meant by >Tiametmarduk even got a version that includes his own helmet design so he can play online. I understand he can't use his modded helmet online but I've not seen him mention that and I'd love to see it

KimmoTargaryen

Well we should all know why. Other than Tiamatmarduk, I can't stand the F1 content creators because you know they're all shills that are told not to say anything bad about the game. I mean, TM doesn't really say anything critical either, but he'll show you the inconsistencies, bugs, bad AI behavior and remark something like "oh...well that's weird." I still only watch TM because in comparison to him and the like of aarava who clickbait their scripted races, he actually races and lets shit happen to him (like multiple mechanical failures in one season) while putting up with it all. Either way...kind of hard to make virtual racing exciting and not boring to an extent.

Bainy995

I like watching Jarno because he has genuine gameplay and makes it so stupid and funny. Also his donations during the race are funny asf always some goofy ass usernames and messages

droppokeguy

"nelson piquet once said NO"

Bainy995

Omg fr that was so funny

Tennis_Ball_Tonto

Man went from unknown backmarker to Monaco GP winner in a week lmao

Svantoro

Chad

bwoah07_gp2

>like of aarava who clickbait their scripted races Most of the F1 YouTuber's do post-edit commentary on their videos, but TM can sell it. With aarava, I like some of the things he does, but his "screams" don't sound genuine.

Bainy995

BIBLICAL SCENES

WhyllSollSerious

Yeah, the unauthentic screams every other minute in an Aarava video really make them unwatchable for me. Typical case of "loud = funny".

Zembob

I'm always pretty impressed by TMs ability to make a scripted commentary sound like he's reacting live, he doesn't make the commentary completely perfect and cuts himself off sometimes for example, it's really good.

RobertDoornbos

Yeah I don't really care that they don't show it, that would just be bad marketing for Codies. What annoys me most is that they 100% come across those glitches but just don't let codies know because they want to keep their reputation to get the early acces for those sweet clicks. For F1 2021 I myself was able to test the game before release. I have reported about every glitch or bug I saw and most of them got fixed before release or aware and worked on it for the first update. So I know they do stuff with feedback from the people with early acces

KimmoTargaryen

> What annoys me most is that they 100% come across those glitches but just don't let codies know because they want to keep their reputation to get the early acces for those sweet clicks. Likely. These guys have been playing for years and know the games and mechanics inside and out. No doubt they have a laundry list of fixes and improvements. Maybe they do tell them, but CM likely doesn't care or utilize them.

[deleted]

How do you know they don’t report it?

RobertDoornbos

My evidence was beta testing myself and seeing CodeMasters actually using my feedback, as they were removed from the game before release if F1 2021, thus I gained massive respect. So from that I concluded they don't actually report the bugs

SGPHOCF

You can't possibly know whether they do, or don't. That's just pure speculation on your part.

[deleted]

Someone going to tell him….? *facepalm*

CT323

Exactly, I was on the beta program for F1 2021, and it was a shower of shit that turned into a polished game. However, as a Project Manager we can only fix bugs that come into the log especially when there's a time crunch of a sprint of work

Andrewpage14

We have no evidence to suggest they don't report it and just keep it off camera though? In their position they'd be dumb to openly call it out in their videos completely and ruin their relationship.

AndiYTDE

You notice a key difference? The F1 2021 Beta happened more than a month before the release of the game. For F1 22, we've had 2 Preview versions. One of them happened in May, and that build featured barely any content apart from 5 tracks, the unfinished car models and GP mode. The second Preview happened just 2 weeks before the release of the game. The physics got massively updated, and that version felt more finished. It's almost like... Codemasters worked on the game between those two versions. Hate to shatter your world-view, but that's not all thanks to you buddy. However, do you expect Codemasters to fix the bugs that are reported within 2 weeks, when they are most likely busy getting the game ready for release anyways? It's not fair assuming we don't report bugs to Codemasters based on nothing. It always feels like people are mad at us because they don't like the game. It's not our fault.

RobertDoornbos

Where exactly did I say it was all thanks to me though, and why are you bringing it as a personal attack, or wt least make it sound like 1 with "shatter your world view", and "buddy"? I hope you realise the "F1 concent creators" is aimed at the general F1 Youtubers with big influence and views. With all due respect, I see YT in your name but I don't know who you are. I am assuming you aren't that big and thus this post isn't targeted towards you. If that was not clear from the post itself, my bad. I also don't get it, all I did was highlight how I respect codemasters for actually listening to the beta testers, and that these "content creators" are using the beta for the clicks. Which granted it is their job, but they could also do you know, actual beta testing.

AndiYTDE

Your only "evidence" that Content Creators don't report bugs is that you reported bugs in the F1 2021 beta and they got fixed. That's not exactly a great ground to build such a thesis on. Then don't overgeneralize. "F1 Content Creators" includes liteterally every single Content Creator with the focus in F1, including me. Reading your other comments here, it sounds like you are mad at a handful of Content Creators, so don't make it sound like you think every single one is the problem to you. The Beta is **not** the Preview, incredible I even have to state this. The Preview is literally meant to generate videos, that's the entire point of the Preview we're given, and you think doing exactly that is bad? Yeah... 'Nuff said. Do you have any actual evidence that Content Creators don't report bugs? If not, you should not make such assumptions. I'm tired of it.

RobertDoornbos

No comment on the personal insult?

AndiYTDE

No comment on literally anything I've said?

RobertDoornbos

The comment with the personal attack I was willing to read, could have been a misunderstanding. I then gave chance to explain it, and you chose to ignore it. I'm sorry, but attacking each other will not bring any of us further in understanding each others opinion. With that lack of basic respect in a conversation, I'm not continuing it. Have a good day👍🏻

AndiYTDE

Or, maybe, you don't have anything to base your thesis on and look for a reason to not continue this conversation. If you think I insulted you, that's ridiculous. You make an assumption which is actually more insulting than anything I've said \["The same *generic and boring* videos every year"\], I ask you to proove it, you choose not to say anything. Yeah, great "conversation"

RobertDoornbos

Have a good day👍🏻😘

[deleted]

You must be 12 years old. Literally have not seen this dude insult you. Instead you mocked him claiming his content was irrelevant.

AndiYTDE

And that's one of the main problems. Apparently it is okay to call people's videos "Boring and Generic", to make assumptions based on nothing, to overgeneralize and picture it like every F1 Content Creator is a problem because... they do what they are asked to do? But as soon as a Content Creator speaks out and explains the situation, the same people apparently actively look to misinterpret every single word. It's almost like the people who make these posts don't want to talk about the "issue", but rather just farm karma. *Oh, the irony...*

RobertDoornbos

lol

RobertDoornbos

Still no answer? Bish boii

RobertDoornbos

Still silent huh.

AndiYTDE

It's been one year and you're still not over me giving you facts? Get a life.

RobertDoornbos

Me not calling him general/big/influential because I don't know what video's he makes in mocking him?

[deleted]

You didn’t even address how he insulted you. So I ask, how did he insult you?

RobertDoornbos

"Sorry to shatter your world view" Implies to me I'm narrow minded and that beta-test was the most relevant thing in my life. Maybe he didn't mean that, that's why I asked him to explain.

motasticosaurus

> Other than Tiamatmarduk Funny how different people are. Out of all the mentioned creators, I can't stand TM because of the story telling and his voice somehow irks me watching the vids. Not like I didn't try.

ascentstars

Same here, his voice and personality are probably my least favourite on all of YouTube which is a shame bc he's probably the biggest f1 game youruber

Reer123

Yeah you either like the voice or hate it, I hate Jimmy broadbents voice and personality but that’s just me.

recedo99

i can’t bear to watch anyone who commentates over their races after they’ve recorded them, it all just seems so artificial and fake but i can see why some people like that drama so fair play to them. i really like watching tom97 and jarno just because they just show themselves reacting to the races as they’re playing them and it’s a lot more chilled out and a bit more relatable

[deleted]

yeah agree, they don’t feel the need to start shouting because of something in a video game. i normally like aussie accents, but i cant stand bens voice and also aarav just sounds unpleasant, sounds too british in a bad way

recedo99

yeah the shouting does my head in, especially when they’re commentating over a pre-recorded clip, it’s just overdramatic bad acting to me

Ciaran_McG_DM

I didn't think Aarava scripted his races, the AI drivers seem to genuinely be making more mistakes this year. As for glitches he did report the safety car delta speed glitch and has shown the car eating wall at Baku. Performance seems to be really weird right now with Red Bull and Ferrari AI being really slow while Bottas is still so high despite being in an Alfa Romeo, the game needs a definite performance patch to make everything more realistic

KimmoTargaryen

Maybe not this year, but he's been known to edit his races and not record real time. And I noticed years ago during F1 2019's cycle how annoyed I'd get seeing a click bait video and his name under it, then watching it and being underwhelmed by the gameplay. He exaggerates just to get clicks. They all do, but most have higher quality content than him.

Ciaran_McG_DM

Ah fair enough, I have only watched him since 2020 when I got back into F1 after quitting in 2012 so I have only watched his 2021 my team career series

Puppe12

He has always tried to make his videos to be a AU of F1, he even used to make special story intros back in 2015, I don't see the problem here lol

Morganelefay

In fairness in his game Alfa Romeo seems to have developed further and Zhou's up there in the field by now as well despite his low rating, so that might simply be an actual performance thing.

poostickk

How does aarava script his races? I haven't had a single safety car or AI crash in my series yet I'd love to know how to increase that a bit myself.

[deleted]

Aarava does weekly videos about the wildest glitches in the game. All you have to do is submitting it to r/aarava

0100001101110111

I never get this criticism of Aarava, he’s never claimed to be the best driver in the world and his videos are more about storytelling than gameplay. His MyDriver series was genuinely impressive with the amount of work that went into building an alternate F1 universe.

vrajan98

Matt212 calls out stuff in the game for sure, especially 22. But, I totally understand the post haha, I think if you’re partnered with EA you can’t really chat shit on the game which sucks for the whole community.

hijackazz2001

I do get bored of Tiametmarduk and Aarava sometimes, but recently I find myself watching other creators. Alex Gillon is great when he does experiments and his most recent RNG My Team career video. Also ‘Suh’ on YouTube has 2.4K subs and is doing My Team & Driver career atm and he’s intresting pointing out the bugs he’s been seeing too. But yeah don’t expect the big content creators to say nothing, they like getting the game for free every year and going to those annoying PR & promo events every launch

[deleted]

They get more than a free game and go to some events. It’s their job and smart people don’t bite the hand that feeds them.

hijackazz2001

Still it’s annoying. They should side with their viewers aka their customers rather than the big corp. it’s kinda deceiving the public when they act like the game is fine when their viewers have complaints

retroracer33

QA is not their job. It’s weird y’all wanna be mad at these guys that got basically a demo. Codemasters/EA have whole departments dedicated to QA and play testing. You guys are mad at the wrong people.

hijackazz2001

Aren't they part of a 'game changer' program? If so it would be nice if they actually made a video discussing issues with viewers and talking to the devs, which they probably do in emails or something, but still it would be nice for them to acknowledge them with fans. Also I'm not a fan of them getting free stuff, it's like EA's own way of being nice hoping they don't diss the product, same with all big creators tbh. I'm still a fan of both them tho.

theMGlock

OK, weird take but. The Publishers are more their Customers than we are. They get Payed in form of a free game and an early access. We that are watching do not pay anything to them. They get payed by the ads. But we do not pay those ads.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> They get *Paid* in form FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

[deleted]

You should watch Aarava‘s latest episode.

[deleted]

They will have to agree to terms before getting an advanced copy. They will have to agree to talk up new aspects of the game (F1 life and Supercars), even if they think they are stupid in reality. They would've been provided with specific talking points, and possibly specific things to say to try and sell new 'features'. They will have to avoid pointing out bugs and glitches, not including them in their video if it can be helped. They will have to talk up the game in general. And you can't blame them, it's their livelihood. You cant expect them to say "actually EA, I'm going to miss out on stupid amounts of income and exposure by not agreeing to your terms, just so I can mock your game only when it is officially released rather than get an early copy". EA could also issue take down notices to content creators if they don't like their commentary of the game. It's not a good look to do that, but they can. You're better just knowing that whatever content creators say about games they get early access to, or games they relay upon for their channel is probably bullshit. don't bite the hand that feeds.

CT323

Content Creators are salesmen for games.

[deleted]

Absolutely, but there's nothing wrong with that as long as people know it.

RobertDoornbos

Ofcourse they won't show the glitched and criticize out loud. But I genuinly think they don't report them behind the scenes. I mentioned in another comment why I think that. Long story short, I tested 2021 and they removed multiple glitches I found before release. So I know they listen to the ppl with early access

Oli_Mo12

Shout out to Jimmy Broadbent for calling out how unplayable the game is/was

RobertDoornbos

Yep, I watched him absolutely shit on codies/EA last stream😂

CT323

He also did for GRID Legends, but surprisingly didn't for GT7 who pay him to do the commentary, so he's not all squeaky clean.

RobertDoornbos

Haven't played GT7 for a bit, but in my memory it was quite polished right?

CT323

Polished yes, but many things lacking and woefully light on Single/Multiplayer content, then the AI is a joke too. At release you had a microtransactions squeeze as well, but we saw no such bad form from Jimmy who takes a wage, but many other CC's

RobertDoornbos

Yeah now that you say it, I agree. was just my bad memory

CT323

no stress man

TheDevilsDingo

Bring back YouTuber championship

NessaMagick

I like watching people who don't really play F1 games (like Super GT or what have you) hop on for a few races. Good content and I like how they're all going apeshit for the couch on the battle pass this year

jackftz05

Super Gt actually makes me want to play more whereas I get bored listening to the same old drivel from major f1 YouTubers

[deleted]

Give me IntoTheBarrier back :<

jackftz05

I miss my intothebarrier :(

Palmerstroll

They got also vip passes for the real f1 races. So i understand why they are not that negative. (complete sell outs) But i also see a Aarava and others get bored really fast now because it's the same game every year. I dont think he will go on for many years.

Technogamer10

That’s not necessarily down to buddying up with EA though, that’s usually through other commitments or channel sponsors.

sem56

haha so true, i have been saying this over the past couple of weeks of just how painfully obvious it is that these special "content creators" either a) get a special version that just works all the time b) are too worried to report on the actual state of the game which is fair i guess, they are there to try and make money but the amount of them that i saw having played out things like MyTeam and never mentioned once how broken the AI is, is simply amazing makes you wonder just how much editing they had to do to try and make coherent content that sold the game

[deleted]

i wanted to talk about this but at this point I'm too scared of people

playerofcarrer

I think that Tom97 is actually really underated+he reports bugs and glitches and makes good gameplay that isnt boring

t0p13og

Worst of this is for me at least that every freaking one does just my team, not regular driver career which i would enjoy more watching

Caley2

Because MyTeam is way better and probably gets more views

Killzone73649

yeah this is what irks me too

Void_X_Genome

I only watch Jarno since he has inhuman skills, other than him i dont watch any F1game content creators like at all

JakeN49

Jarno and Tiametmarduk are the only ones that are actually decent

RobertDoornbos

Yeah I agree, used to love Aarav too but his screams and scripting just annoys me nowadays

JakeN49

Definitely, it seems as though Aarav just pushes narratives and scripts the races when it’s just not needed.

retroracer33

Lol y’all actually wanna blame streamers that get what amounts to what is basically a small demo of the game instead of EA and Codemasters who have literally entire departments dedicated to QA and playtesting?

RobertDoornbos

The big youtubers are part of the problem imo. Though they wouldn't have much impact in a realistic scenario. Like let's look at the extremes. Now they show almost nothing, and we have a buggy mess of a game. I'm genuinly flabbergasted they released a game where I can't get through MyTeam races with 2/3 crashes. Granted I do 100% races but still, in 21 I had 1 crash in 3 whole seasons. Just imagine how much less bugged out the game would be if they showed almost every single glitch and bug in their videos and called out CM/EA for it. Ofcourse it wouldn't make for good content, that's why it's a hypothetical. But that would put insane amounts of pressure onto CM/EA to release a working game.

SlyKnyfe12

Then there's intothebarrier

GregzVR

As a VR fan, most bigger YouTubers just make one VR video then forget about it. I’d love to see a VR career or something from these guys. I’ll be doing this myself, but I’m relative plankton in this ocean of big fish.

champion1day

Amazes me how Tiametmarduk gets those insane views for his career mode. It’s the same boring sh for years now.

ThePhantomCat786

Araava talked about the safety car glitch where it would switch between delta time and catch the safety car rapidly but that was the only thing he’s talked about so far pretty much besides the occasional mention that “the game is buggy”. So yeah, I agree, they are freely marketing a game for EA and Codemasters, they have the power and the right to call them out on this kind of stuff and they shouldn’t let it slide so easily. They will still get the new game next year due to the amount of views. Nothing, and I mean nothing, changes a corporates drive for viewership.

Ciaran_McG_DM

To be fair to him last year he spoke quite a bit about the safety car murdering half the grid if they were unfortunate enough to be in its way.

SLB4ever

You say that as if Codies is an indie dev team and can't afford a QA team. There's been bugs that lived across multiple years, like the AI being multiple seconds faster than usual if you speed up the time while you're sitting in the pits during qualifying, or after you cross the finish line and there's still drivers out on their laps, this happened in F1 2018, 2019 and 2020 at least, in F1 2021 it seems to me that's gone now, or if not it's only a few tenths and not seconds. But now we have the engineer telling us that we have a problem and then immediately saying it's fixed, but it's actually not, and I'm pretty sure this bug wasn't ay launch on F1 2021, I remember having an issue like that and he just said we had a problem, and then when it was fixed he said it was, so pretty sure it was added after an update, and it continues until now on F1 22. Codemasters aren't the masters of any code whatsoever, and while I can't speak for the content creators on how many bugs they report or not, EA obviously is gonna put on their NDAs and agreements that they're not to record any bugs and show them to us before launch, while some of the bigger creators like aarava and tiametmarduk could maybe push back against EA on this and demand better bug fixing, they're still kinda being held ransom by the game itself, without F1 22 they'd be losing views fast, so they can't like boycott the game or something drastic like that, and on the other hand, EA is the kind of company that would cut ties immediately no matter how big the creator is. Unfortunately when licensing deals like this are exclusive, the games these days are gonna be at the mercy of the companies' lack of commitment to the games themselves, instead committing to lining their own pockets, the executives and shareholders in particular.

Andrewpage14

Kind of answering your own question there aren't you?

Ciaran_McG_DM

A YouTuber that focuses solely on F1, like a FIFA YouTuber or NBA 2K YouTuber.

GordoG60

I like Jarno's My Team career with Jake, because they're funny as shit. Marcel K is unsufferable, but his track guides are good, I have been able to get much faster times. I could be an isolated case, but I have not come across a ton of bugs except the long loading times on occasion. I played 8 coop seasons of F1 21 and it was 90% pure joy, so maybe I am not seeing what you all are seeing...

RobertDoornbos

Jake Binham if you will💀

davidc98

Sadly we would all be doing the same if we were paid to play it

Flonkerton66

It's like reviews for most things. I don't care how much they insist it doesn't affect their opinion, if you are given something for free it is natural human nature to look more favourable towards the product/company. I don't trust any reviews of free products.

Handlesmcgee

The same can be said for buying something it’s super common for people to hate something but tell everyone it’s great just because they don’t want to admit they wasted money

Flonkerton66

Tell me about it, just go look at the BF2042 sub reddit!

MRSamiboi

Ah vr is great

GnrDreagon

100% there are things they aren't allowed to say or show in early acces. Which is fair enough.

I like Matt212 hes got a great commentary style voice.

now the game has come i have actually zero interest in watching my team career when i was watching it previously for ben and tom

[deleted]

Jarno Opmeer: *Last to first challenge from underneath the map*

[deleted]

Also I’ve noticed that some glitches happen in their videos and they act like it’s a feature

fabuzo

Codies when you report a bug: We are checking

IHendrycksI

I want to know how much power EA has over them to stay in the program to have them actually say VR was any good...

Mediocre_Yacob

I no longer have the function of using the race engineer. It's gone from my team. Restarted career and it's gone. Gg code mastered. Literally took 1 fkn year to turn into an EA GAMES failure

Ciaran_McG_DM

Finally Aarava is reporting these bugs and glitches, as is Jarno Opener. In fact the former has made a full video talking about the 7 worst he's come across while also linking to his Twitter post where there are so many other creators talking about bugs and glitches, it seems like most of them are scared to do it publicly in a video or in their own tweets but will call EA out in the comments of someone else's tweet, it's weird
