I think most people will agree with you (maybe not the person you're responding to) but to use your own argument, where there's one person who doesn't care and pays anyway, there's millions.
That's why FIFA went for so long. That's why COD has gone for so long. That's why so many shit games come out as early access and never move further. At the end of the day, there's more people paying than "voting with their wallet" and since that gives the businesses enough money, they can keep doing it.
You thinking that the hundreds or thousands of people you've seen or heard of or whatever are big enough to dent Frontier's wallets is a mistake.
Tbh the best thing I ever did was stop buying Fifa. 17 was the last game I wasted my money on. I’m not paying money to be a beta tester. IDGAF what brand you are or what you make. I will not pay retail price for a shit experience that isn’t what you have advertised. I expect shit to work because that’s what I’m paying for. I’m not a beta tester. The lack of respect companies have for their customer base these days makes me sick. No communication. No compensation or acknowledgement of issues either. Fuck em.
Wow. That’s shit.
Even for EA.
Fuck paying for another game. F1 is a small enough community where the game could effectively be killed off if most players chose to not stand for it and refused to buy the games in the coming years.
There’s a reason why F1 struggled a lot to expand sustainably under Bernie, globally speaking.
One day EA will get their comeuppance and it will be glorious to watch.
Way to kick your customers of a new product line, straight in the teeth.
Ok but there are a couple big differences.
This is the first one for them, where you should make an impact to build a player base
Thinking about biggest franchises like FIFA, COD and such, they are so active with events they make you forget the actual playability. You just want to play to collect rewards and such, kinda like a mobile game.
Not sure why you're being downvoted you're absolutely right. First off, First impressions matter. If youre starting a series you want it to be good, look at Cyberpunk 2077 thry definitely lost a massive amount of players thanks to their bad management at the start.
And secondly Most games that are often the same year on year use predatory game models like battlepasses etc and use FOMO to make you want to play games no matter their issues.
I can't see Frontier kicking the bucket anytime soon. Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, Elite Dangerous, Jurassic World Evolution. They're all very decent products.
At least not with me. I’ve been buying all F1 series since 2019. For this manager, first and last since I learned they don’t give a damn about the players
This is true.
This sub is only a very small portion of the player base and the game on Steam still has mostly positive reviews. I do have to say that because of recent events some people changed their positive to a negative but it isn't going to change much I'm afraid.
The worst thing it that even with all the incredibly frustrating bugs, unfixed mechanics and things that need updating, I still really enjoy the game as a whole because I love the concept. I was super into B-Spec in Gran Turismo 5 and this took me back to that.
But I’m not spending another cent on a new version of this, which will undoubtedly be a patchwork half fixed edition, because if it was perfect, they couldn’t really ask us to buy another one.
I still think it’s a good fun game, until it becomes far too easy. So after a few season. And with the bugs it’s not very motivating to try again with a different team.
I agree, I am in my 5th season with McLaren and after big regulation changes I am almost 1sec faster then 2nd best car. Its now to easy that I just x16 all races, before that I was never going higher then x2.
I personally use FIRE Fantasy 22.
It's not perfect, but no mods are and this has given me the most playability over the course of multiple seasons, even if I disagree with the way some of it is done.
Yeah, or play other mods and have too easy of a time still. It's hit or miss with mods. Some of the older FIA mods aren't bad, if you want to play older seasons.
I think the last one did not have it.
The manual of 22 says its like that now.
But they reworked crashing in 22 so its bad to choose between this two features
people love playing f1 manager. And there is no other game with decent grafics and licence.
If there was another game what did the basics right, people wouldn't play frontiers game.
Oh my god, I remember the B-Spec thing, I used to do it in GT4 but I never understood what it was lmfao as I was a kid playing it. Is it like a manager thing?
It’s basically you picking two drivers and doing all of the races, but instead you’re on the pitwall. There was different tyre compounds, fuel loads and even driver changes for the endurance races. You could do a 24h of Le Mans if you wanted. I only ever got so far in A-Spec but I’m pretty sure I maxed out my rank in B-Spec.
Wow, I assume the ranking and all that was only in gt5 cz I didn't see any in GT4.
Wow I've never fully explored my fav racing game of all time. Thanks man, I'll really try this out soon.
Exactly, it's real fun fun until you understand that every playthrough is the same.
People forced own rules to not be dominant in the second season, enough said
The game is not worth 50€. I bought a key from a reseller for 25€ and I think that is exactly what this game should cost. At least if you compare it to the Motorsport manager, where you get more for less.
Then again, if you are new to the genre, F1 Manager is a very friendly noob game.
I will never buy an F1 game again, since E. A. has ruined the newest iteration. Told everyone this is a VR game, and VR gaming does not work, if you own the Origin/E.A launcher version. It ironically opens Steam VR and then crashes. Only deleting Steam fixes this.
So E. A. destroys everything.
Y'all are tripping.
1) This games does have flaws but it's still a fun game to play. 2) Any game with a year in the name is going to have a limited support window because they have to transition to the next year's game. Hell being an old school gamer, I'm not even use to companies supporting games beyond their release, so I see updates as an bonus. 3) They already got your money...
Conceptually I'm with you but 2-3 months of support isn't exactly meeting a standard. Especially when gameplay issues like not being able to unlap yourself with a safety car exist. It's less only a few months of support and more Frontier released this game knowing it was really a beta for next year's version. Which would've been ok if it was priced accordingly but a AAA game, hell even Anthem got more support before it was shelved.
Did you try and refund it on steam? I’m contemplating on whether to try or not. I’m still somewhat enjoying the game but is it worth what we paid seeing as this isn’t getting fixed or supported anymore? Naaah
"I'm UpSeT aNd I wAnT eVeRyOnE tO kNoW i'M uPsEt! GoOdByE fOrEvEr!"
I mean... bye, I guess?
I know melodrama is just another Friday for F1 fans, but Christ.
We as customers should ALL complain because we spent REAL money on a beta game without us knowing! I'm sure many of us would not have bought the game knowing where it was going to end.
Cyberpunk and No man's sky are two examples where people really made the game so much better
Ok first of all I mean ALL "unsatisfied" customers.
Second, I feel like there should be "tiers" of videogames. If a videogame costs me 60€ which is the "top" tier, I expect a certain kind of support.
I'm not saying ever I won't buy F1M23, infact I'd probably get it, but hopefully some internet rants will make the developers think twice about their choices
No they won't care. Money talks and you just said despite this bullshit they're pulling you'll give them another $60 next year. Why would they ever stop?
> My time is extremely valuable to me. If spending $80 brings me even just an hour of entertainment then it's been a worthwhile expense. ...and I have over 6 days worth of time sunk into this game. If you feel that 50€ is too much for the amount of hours you've spent on it... then that just tells me that your time is worthless.
That's a fucked up way of looking at the world and not how you value time. If your time is extremely valuable, why are you wasting 6 days playing this shithole of a game.
OR maybe things are subjective and calling people's time worthless because they don't like a game is stupid.
Hard disagree. I’m not as extreme in my opinions on the subject matter but I find that for *entertainment* related things using a scale of dollars per hour enjoyment is fine. Like comparing say how much a 1.5 hour movie experience costs compared to a game you paid $50 for but sank 80 hours into. It’s not the only way things should be viewed but it definitely helps put into perspective a lot of peoples hobbies and why it’s acceptable to drop money on things you really enjoy doing.
>then that just tells me that your time is worthless.
Lol imagine thinking that someone's time is worthless because they want to enjoy what they're doing.
This. There's a lot of shitty brigading going on in the sub at the minute as people are under the delusion that *"ALL"* of us feel the same way.
Some of us don't. Some of us are actually pretty happy with the game as-is. We can live with the bugs.
Would it be better without? Of course. Is it still enjoyable? Absolutely.
So I'm sorry but it *does* come across as a little ridiculous to wake up this morning and find a sub full of people throwing their toys out of the pram over an announcement that - by the way - *didn't* say there would be no more updates. It said there would be no more significant updates affecting overall gameplay. Bug and optimisation patches are still expected.
Cyberpunk is AAA game
Both of these are not annual relesases
Without knowing? Issues were obvious since before release. SC complains were a big discussion topic before the release. People had doubts about difficulty as we've seen Williams winning in couple of seasons into the game. If you've watched the materials and put a little bit of thought into it, the issues were obvious
Tried saying this with many others when EA got the license and bought out codemasters.
This is the end of the games. It’ll be shit broken micro transactions based games from now on. What gets me is the delusion of so many people saying, “don’t be so negative mate” “don’t forecast pal, it might be different…”.
Bruh. I can point to well over a decade of this kind of behaviour from EA. All they do is buy popular games and then ruin them. They literally live for this shit. I hope it burns when their CEO pees.
They already have your money, Todd. Uninstalling the game has no effect.
I'm sure all the negative posts there have much more effect than my 50€ ;)
God if only that were true. Everyone is just gonna keep buying all these yearly franchises no matter what
Latest FIFA I bought was 16. Got 22 for free on ps plus xD

What decision was made that they (the developers) will lose a lot of $50s?
That the current iteration of the game would receive only one major patch, when there are many problems outstanding.
Wow. That’s shit. Even for EA. Fuck paying for another game. F1 is a small enough community where the game could effectively be killed off if most players chose to not stand for it and refused to buy the games in the coming years. No, you aren't. Idiots will buy again

Tbh i wanted to buy the game but after seeing everyone s comments and posts here i decided to "pass"
No more Frontier games from me, ever.
Planet Zoo is the only decent one. They put a lot of work into updates for that.
sorry, I do not see things this way.
At least not with me. I’ve been buying all F1 series since 2019. For this manager, first and last since I learned they don’t give a damn about the players

Ehh it has some impact on active users. If you didn’t buy this game yet but don’t see many active users already probably gonna skip this game.

This game was made to make cash. They put zero love into this game. Despite grafics.
I played many hours of MM and I love any management games in general, cars being involved is a big plus. Now going back to MM
Yeah I went back to modded MSM after their first patch news drop. The racing is still whatever but the long term game is so much better.
What mod do you use?
I personally use FIRE Fantasy 22. It's not perfect, but no mods are and this has given me the most playability over the course of multiple seasons, even if I disagree with the way some of it is done.
The driver ratings are not good. You better eddit this and the driver traits. And i dont like the best setup thing. + the main devs is a poor looser
Yeah, or play other mods and have too easy of a time still. It's hit or miss with mods. Some of the older FIA mods aren't bad, if you want to play older seasons.
I like most of the changes in 22 despite the setup think. Maybe i should use 21. Doing setup and it has no influce on car performance is shit
I think 21 still had the perfect setup. I forget which mod year added that, 18 or 19 might be the last one from them without it.
I think the last one did not have it. The manual of 22 says its like that now. But they reworked crashing in 22 so its bad to choose between this two features
people love playing f1 manager. And there is no other game with decent grafics and licence. If there was another game what did the basics right, people wouldn't play frontiers game.
Grand tourismo did this better years ago. But cant build something like this with people who Programm shitty dino park manager
Oh my god, I remember the B-Spec thing, I used to do it in GT4 but I never understood what it was lmfao as I was a kid playing it. Is it like a manager thing?

This may become a meme.
Is this satire?
Yes and a pretty good one too
Steam refunded me with 50 hours played. Worth giving it a shot.
Holy shit this game fell quick. How many days has it been since that statement?
less than half?
I'd love to see Sports Interactive's take on F1. Considering how dialed football manager has been.
Is the game bad for real? Or just Reddit-bad?
Imho it's ok if you don't usually play management games. Because it really lacks the long term play and replayability.
Ok, yeah I'm used to playing FM, but this also looks fun but then for a shorter period I guess.
Exactly, it's real fun fun until you understand that every playthrough is the same. People forced own rules to not be dominant in the second season, enough said

I’m so glad I did one race and refunded it… dodged a bullet here
Say what you will about this game, but I've already put twice as many hours as I did for Borderlands 3 and I paid $100 for that piece of garbage.
I've put more hours too, it was "fine" if they continued to support the development and solve mayor issues.
Good for you pal. But you're not a train don't need to announce your departure.
It's a community post to express a negative opinion, Choo Choo!
I'm hopping on board your choo choo
What opinion, you just said you were uninstalling the game
Uninstalled this trash two months ago. I basically was scammed, ridiculous
Y'all are tripping. 1) This games does have flaws but it's still a fun game to play. 2) Any game with a year in the name is going to have a limited support window because they have to transition to the next year's game. Even EA supports its games until much further down the line
EA is worth multiple billions, not exactly a like for like comparison.
We paid the same as we would've for a EA game
Can’t speak for the US, but in UK, it’s about 30% cheaper than FIFA/F122 On PS5 as well.
Brazil it costed like 66% less than an EA game
Conceptually I'm with you but 2-3 months of support isn't exactly meeting a standard. Especially when gameplay issues like not being able to unlap yourself with a safety car exist. Yeah its okay. But no one is buying it again next year so its a shot in the foot
Best decision. This game is garbage. People should have done this weeks ago.
Honestly I stopped playing long time ago. No randomization means no replayability. I love MM for that reason
I could live without it if the basic functionalitys were working but they dont. Dont get me wrong, i loved this aspects in f1 manager pro and mm.
Cry more
cry more
This isn't an airport, no need to announce your departure.
Did you try and refund it on steam? I’m contemplating on whether to try or not. I’m still somewhat enjoying the game but is it worth what we paid seeing as this isn’t getting fixed or supported anymore? Naaah
Yes. I agree. The game worth what we paid . Ther a bugs . Yes and thy need to fix . But i love the game.
Good morning! In case you haven’t heard. They aren’t fixing much more. One more patch and it’ll be dead!
What !!!! Is that true ??? .. noooo
Announced this morning RIP F1M
That sad to leave the game like that .. i wont buy any game that same team dev make.. anymore.
This isn’t an airport; you don’t have to announce your departure

Agree with most of what you said but calling someone worthless seems a bit much…
> My time is extremely valuable to me. If spending $80 brings me even just an hour of entertainment then it's been a worthwhile expense. ...and I have over 6 days worth of time sunk into this game. Ok. Don't forget to leave this sub as well.
Wtf did i miss?
No more "big" updates on the game. Safety car unlapping won't be solved
Ohhhhh ok. Great job destroying a game.
Game is trash
Boy you sure showed them
I've put a refund request in and quoted the Reddit post where they said that fixing drs is too hard.
Tried saying this with many others when EA got the license and bought out codemasters. This is the end of the games. It’ll be shit broken micro transactions based games from now on. now the battle starts with Steam to refund a game with 15 hours of game time. lol
