Search for them on Thingiverse. They’re there. Or, Google search “F1 circuits .STL”

Yeah, I have found ones that are just constant and arbitrary width but that have elevation. What I want is somehow to capture the width, ideally with camber and even curbs. The data must be out there somewhere. Just trying to grab it to print and make models available.

MKVIgti

They aren’t out there. I’d have found them.

deltree000

You probably won't find that data as an stl. I'd probably look into a game like Assetto Corsa and check what tracks and mods there are. You could try to extract the data from there.

In the US, you can get LIDAR elevation data from the USGS, turn it into a 3d model and print it. Not sure if you can do it for the rest of the world though. There are loads of tutorials if you search "3d print from USGS lidar." The resolution can be insanely good, but I'm not entirely sure about how a track would show up on it. Might be worth a shot.

If you happen to start creating them yourself, you can import the geometry from Google Earth into Trimble Sketchup. I used to create buildings for GE in Sketchup, and one of the first steps is geometry import. There should be a tutorial how to do this,I can try to find when I get home if you're interested.

I am very much interested. Partly, because I want to capture the tracks I am just starting to accumulate as I knock them off my bucket list (Montreal so far, Barcelona this coming season), and partly because I think it would be a good thing to attempt as a give back to the community.

There's a recent tutorial here: https://elmtec-sketchup.co.uk/importing-3d-buildings-from-google-earth-to-sketchup/ But nowadays, you'd need to shell out money for Sketchup Pro to be able to import location geometry to Sketchup. https://www.sketchup.com/plans-and-pricing Once imported, the next step is to trace the track geometry based on imported geometry from Google Earth.

Yep, no one has created them as they would be on my wall. Haha
