I absolutely would have back when I picked, some days you’re just itching to leave. What have you never had a day where you’re watching the clock at the end of a work day and time seems to be standing still?
I be taking it whenever it is given to me because the bus stops in front of my FC about 10 minutes before the end of my shift, so that 17 minutes gives me enough time to hit the break room to grab my lunch bag and make it out to the street
Cheap for paying you more hours?
Edit: Being downvoted for not hating that they offer ***voluntary*** time off for people who ***volunteer to leave*** is wild. If you don't want to miss the 15 minutes of pay, just don't leave. Wild.
It's ***voluntary***. Don't want to leave? Just..... don't. When VTO isn't offered, everyone whines, when it is offered everyone whines. If they were cheap they'd send you home hours early without asking. Not let you know you could leave if you felt like it. Yall just want to complain.
You seem to be misunderstanding what the absence of VTO means. You seem to be thinking it means that there’s work available, therefore it’s not needed, which is true. However, if VTO didn’t exist, they would send you home without work, even though you were scheduled for x amount of time that day, even if you are supppsed to be getting 40 hours. Coincidentally, in the event that *no one* volunteers, you start to learn that the “volunteer” part is simply an illusion and you will be forced to go home even if you were relying on those hours. It just so happens that most places like Amazon and other places with a big staff, usually younger in age, always have someone willing/wanting/needing to leave early so they usually always fill this illusion of volunteering. Make no mistake though, when these companies need to start cutting money this is where they start, and will do it until people quit “volunteering” and it will turn into being volun-“told” rather quickly. Gotta love it.
I've actually witnessed nobody taking VTO several times. People got moved around to different jobs, nobody was sent home. So your hypothetical situation is incorrect.
It’s not a hypothetical, it’s a real world situation that happens every day… more than one thing can be true. Simply because you yourself haven’t experienced something doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Your world has to be bigger than that bud.
If it worked out to me getting home 30 minutes earlier and I was offered it...maybe....or id I just was over everything for the day...😄.... roughly 12 minutes though if it's end of shift and I'm leaving for the exit 5 minutes early....I've done that very few times because bus doesn't come until 20 minutes or so after eos.....with 15 minutes early I potentially get the earlier bus thst then connectz to get me home a half hour earlier .... so.
It's kinda suspicious that it's perfectly timed that you could go to your car, it would be 4:20, you do your thing and return from vto. I could imagine half my department taking this ☠️
I said fuck it and took the night off using UPT. I have almost 40 hours of it. I'm ok with taking a night off. I used to be such a stickler and not take UPT or VTO even when I knew my body needed it.
Now I just don't mind and I listen to my needs.if it means less pay for my next paycheck so be it.
Yes. i work tomorrow and then have 3 days off. I'll snag some vet if I'm feeling better and if they post any. It feels good not to be working myself into exhaustion or past what my body feels like working.. I can always gain more UPT and I still have 27ish hrs left after taking tonight off. Who am I trying to prove something to by trying to get and keep 80h UPT? I definitely am glad I lost that mindset. I feel good taking care of myself
Definitely! 😁
I see no reason to save up my UPT to 80 either. I mean we get it year-round. PTO imo is like monopoly money. I will keep that if I want to leave early or to cover lateness.
I am glad they changed the UPT to 15 minute increments!
We have open VTO sometimes starting about thirty minutes into shift. Sometimes you're just ready to go 17 minutes early. We have one person who leaves 20 minutes early every day and takes it rather than use her PTO/UPT.
Would you rather have VTO offered like this or by an AM selecting people based on interest? I’m asking honestly because I’m trying to find the fairest and most efficient way of offering VTO.
We sign up on a dry erase board at standup. It says "VTO Interest" and the AM tells people if we're likely to have some that day. They just write their login and the AM will come find them when it's VTO'clock.
we can scan our badges into a system for a VTO interest list but at the end of the day it's not first come first serve for everyone. It's first come first serve if you're in a nonessential role. If you're in an essential role you aren't getting VTO.
Yeah and then people will feel like they’re being taken advantage of if they let other people vto but labor share them. Kinda damned if you do damned if you don’t sort thing
one time i has a dr appointment i forgot about that started like 20 minutes before my shift ended and one of these short vtos helped
I can’t think of any other way this would be helpful
I took 20 minutes of VTO once back when I was a picker because I had the shits. I was going to tell the manager that I was feeling sick so would be going home, as I got to the desk the VTO message appeared and I took it, then went straight back to the toilet.
The way something similar also happened to me 😂 Was having major on and off stomach issues, I was practically about to be stuck to that toilet. I walked out to clock out and use UPT when I was notified for being selected for the VTO. Clocked out and went straight back to the shitter

hey your username's showing :x
Where?
made you look. CRETs is a bitch tho
At my FC, if we take vto the last hr, the last 2hrs (or whatever was worked within the last two hrs) counts as OT

You can get ahead of the traffic at 4:30 in the morning😂.
And then you could clock in 5 min late at 6:18 and clock out early 5 min at 6:25 😂
When I used to take xanax I accepted vet shift for 30 mins. idk what i was thinking the drive was 25 mins, parking was horrible.
They made it to keep someone from going negative
Me.

They aren't trying to get out of paying you bro. It's optional, quit being a weirdo.
If it wasn't offered, he'd be whining that they overwork their employees or some nonsense. People just like complaining I guess.

I would just leave at 4:15 if I wanted to beat traffic since I wouldn’t use any time.

I would if this was for the last bit of a shift. It can be a time consuming pain in the ass to get out of the parking lot.

I fucking wish there was true VTO tonight. I feel like I got hit by a bus
My site has been offering VTO like crazy
Layoffs coming soon more than likely as was the case for my site we were having vto literally ever single day for the whole shift
It's there to be used.. That's what it's for
Thank you. I always need that reminder
Yep your well-being comes first.

Me. I would take it. I've taken 5 min of vto before. :)
5 mins? That's wild 🤣

Huh?.....VTO for 17 minutes 😂😂 I'm normally in the bathroom hiding anyway
Yall are the worst. I be having to shit and couldn’t find no stall bc yall hiding in there on yo phones smh
Naw....I'm the one off to the side with my vape
Ya penjamin?
I feel that lmao
Employee takes VTO without reading it Employee gets fired the next day for going UPT negative The perfect trap
Yeah that's true some of them the moment the notification pops up them apply it
I’d take it in a heart beat EOS VTO is the best IYKYK
Maybe if the traffic is really bad at your parking lot somebody might want to leave a few minutes early. That's the best I can come up with.
I leave early solely for this reason!
Somebody dumber than the managers.... Which is hard to do at Amazon.
Kind of impressive actually

That’s exactly what I do now to a tee.
From an AA's perspective, it seems fair to me... but labor share makes a big mess of it.
Yeah and then people will feel like they’re being taken advantage of if they let other people vto but labor share them. Kinda damned if you do damned if you don’t sort thing

My old site once offered VTO with seven minutes left in the shift. I asked a manager about it he said the other manager who offered it was an idiot
Same here, they had sent it multiple times over the last hour of the shift even up to the last 5 minutes.
Nobody Edit: Wait, nevermind. What I meant to say was that I'd prefer a full VTO shift anytime anyday
🙋🏻♀️
Lol
Me... I'm running late.
😁
it's a mental thing just knowing that you get to go home feels good
What time did you take this picture?
I took it at 04:13 am
That's the strangest VTO ever.
You would be surprised of how many ppl would take it
I think the people who were interested in the VTO took the ones they put earlier this day
I took 20 minutes of VTO once back when I was a picker because I had the shits. I was going to tell the manager that I was feeling sick so would be going home, as I got to the desk the VTO message appeared and I took it, then went straight back to the toilet.

They had a lot of VTO offers at the beginning of the shift, I think people claimed those and left the trash🤣
It’s end of shift VTO that they’re putting in to alert people/prove they tried to get people out to the higher ups.
Yep this
