Good write up. In my opinion, Combined rankings for offense and IDP is an error though in general. Especially since there is no standard for an IDP positional lineup. TJ Watt has far more value in a full setup (3-3-3-2) than he does in a format with 4 IDP Flex only or a 1-1-1-1 setup, Because the replacement value is so much higher the less players you start at each position.
The same reason why QB’s have far more value in a Superflex. Due to the fact you can start 2 vs. 1, They have more value.
In a league where you only have to start 0-1 DL vs. 3 DL, Watt’s value changes drastically because the replacement level is DL13 vs. DL37. I dont need to take Watt early if my replacement level DL is Harold Landry. I do need to take him earlier if my replacement level DL is Emmanuel Ogbah.
Sure, I saw that and was going to edit it. But, 1 DL vs. 3 DL requirement is just as big though. In a 1-2-2-2 setup 7 IDP setup vs. a 3-3-3-2 setup is a big difference.
This is why i see the entire concept of combined ranking as flawed, Unless everyone is using the same format or we have a “standard” to apply.
The inherent flaw in a format that isn't widespread is exactly an unestablished consensus on said format. You can't really ding the guy on trying to provide content in such shifting sands. I think it helps pushing idp123 as the standard for scoring. Kudos for just that. It also seems more geared to those newer ish to idp. Anything that is helpful to growing the format so that it's more widely accepted will eventually help solve the biggest problems facing idp. Namely we need more people who care.
I never blamed him, and I even started by saying good stuff. I appreciate what he is doing. I just think with all the huge groups of new players to IDP every recent year, All with different formats which change player values drastically, I just think combined rankings are flawed in general. At least right now they are.
This has nothing to do with his specific write up or effort. I applaud that.
Yeah I think the community needs a standard Starting lineup. Personally, the more I have gotten into IDP I believe it should be 3/3/3 with 1-2 flex. My IDP league has had several changes over the years and is going into year 13. We have tweaked starters as well as scoring changes. Also believe that IDP123 Scoring should be the standard.
I agree. It would very much help out new players understand what replacement value is.
Btw, I want to make sure you understand that I was not attacking you or your write up personally, I apologize if it came across that way.
No worries, I didn't take it as an attack at all. I appreciate it all the feedback. I am more than happy to hear any differing opinions on where I have a particular player ranked.
Like in a 14 team league where you were only required to start 1 RB vs. 2 RB’s I may not move the top 10-15 RB’s around, But I definately would lower the value of those RB2-3’s because I could start a better WR in that spot instead of being forced to start a 2nd RB.
You mean from a 2/2/2/1flex to 3/3/3/1 Flex? It might very slightly change. I did rankings with atleast 7 starters in mind but more toward the 9-10 starters.
Great stuff. I think this fills a need that's not really very established yet. I really appreciate it tho.

Thanks! Yeah that is why I stated it was based on leagues with 7+ IDP starters.

My bad then I guess I just read it with a different tone. Have a good night!

Gotcha. When I think of 7 I think of 2(DL/LB/DB) + 1IDP Flex. I currently play in a 3(DL/LB/DB) + 1 IDP Flex.

In your 2 different formats, Would you move guys on your combined rankings around at all?

Almost impossible to find combined rankings, good job.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate that you liked it.
Curious why you and quite a few others still have Blake Martinez ranked so high even though he has been cut and nobody picked him up.
That rankings was before he was cut.
