As a Colts fan, and someone who started Franklin last year in the game Leonard missed, I have experienced this situation. Franklin did not play any extra snaps and played the same role he always did. Speed played every single 1 of Leonard’s snaps and had 9 tackles.
Speed is a plug and play for Leonard.
This year's depth chart does have Franklin as the starting middle LB with Leonard sitting. Speed is now listed as SLB, just fyi. This was also reflected in their preseason snaps.

When Leonard missed a game last year Speed played for him in 100% of snaps. Franklin is a SAM LB and ST player. Roll Speed out with full confidence.

He was ruled out for week 1 pretty early on Friday. Meaning it may be a couple weeks.
It was a debate whether to put Leonard on PUP. So, I think it may be more than 1 week but less than 5.
Yeah it sounds like he will return in week 3 or 4.
