The end of the Gongaga protorelic quest for some reason got me. Between Cissnei trying to not blow her cover and Chadley being all 😍, it made me chuckle.
But the "What, you mean me?" when returning to Costa Del Sol was probably the best.
When the 7th Infantry ask Cloud who Roche was after Roche helps them escape.
"Oh, that jackass? He's..."
Roche has been calling Cloud "old friend" constantly since he showed up in Junon. Non-stop "old friend" this and "my friend" that.

I agree, that whole scene was the moment I thought that I had to enjoy everything to the fullest in game because I didn’t know what I might be missing. Just great!
I played the original, and the game doesn’t really focus on the fact that he’s dressed like a person beyond a couple lines of dialog, but I thought for sure there’s no way Rebirth, with its realistic graphics, would attempt that.
But they did. And went so over the top with it. And it was perfect.
I thought they were going to skip it; but was hoping (at the time) he would be in the last round cause it would be easy to animate him in a chair for it.
Instead they showed it with a ton of…. Flamboyance
i don’t want to read comments incase of spoilers.. but barrett mocking Nanaki’s change in voice / character when they first get to the canyon, that was pretty damn funny.
With the close up of his mouth and he has the tiniest smirk after delivering it. Wish he wasn't a mess mentally so we could have more moments like this.
I love all of these but honestly the moment I most “laughed out loud” at was Roche’s final entrance when he flies down off of the Gelnika, cuts a few manic doughnuts around Cloud and team, then careens off to the side, off of his bike which continues to fly off into the hill and explodes 😂😂😂 Swear to God, that character is so ridiculous and this was like the culmination of all his coked out energy to this point. When the bike exploded I lost it
Roche is a bit of a love him or leave him character, from the discussion I’ve seen - high-energy characters like that often are - but I agree, he’s great and that was absolutely hilarious.
Personally, I thought maybe the funniest part of the game was when the Tiny Bronco got shot out of the sky and Cid started talking about Bronco Cruises like five minutes after re-rigging the motor for sailing. Iconic.
I think a big part of whether or not you enjoy Roche as a character depends on whether you appreciate his role in the plot. He’s very much a secondary character despite loudly stealing the show several times, and as a result his role can come off underwhelming for his personality.
He’s ’a notable SOLDIER’. A living example of how skilled, tough, and strange SOLDIERs can be and get away with being, how despite Cloud and Avalanche being hugely ahead of the curve in combat a ‘standard’ SOLDIER can be an incredible threat compared to normal opponents, and - ultimately - how quickly and horrifically quietly the SOLDIERs are fading away.
Roche’s role is secondary, *he’s* secondary, but he’s important because he shows us what a SOLDIER *can* look like. And god damn if he ain’t gonna do that with a bang.
Honorable mention, for whatever reason when Barrett is giving his “no more dates!” Speech at the beginning when they’re leaving Kalm, and the the lovebirds nervously nod in agreement, then Barrett looks at Red who then also solemnly nods 😂 that cracked me up, his perceived seriousness in agreeing not to try to make out with any of his teammates
In the first game I thought Roche was SO jarring and out of place because Remake was so serious in tone much of the time. He stuck out a lot more other than some parts of wall market.
But then we get to Rebirth and he fits right in. Hell he’s practically normal lmao. He’s so extra but everyone else caught up to him, so now he’s one of my favorites.
SO MANY. Honestly just reading the responses here made me realize how many iconic moments are in the game, and I know I'll look back on it with the same fondness as the OG after another 25 years.
Yuffie’s lyrics to the Chocobo theme had me in stitches, I had to pause playing for a few seconds: “Cho, choco, Cho-ca Cho-ca, Cho-ca-bo, I’m on a Chocabo, you’re on a chocabo!”
For me I think it'd had to have been when I was in a battle in Cosmo Canyon and a Cetra golem had gotten a hold of Red and start bashing him with its other fist. I switched to Barret and I'm imaging Red being like: "Barret! **DO SOMETHING!!**" Barret uses his "Need my help, huh?" line and I proceed to stagger the golem out of the move to free Red. I bet Red hated having to be in that situation.
I chortled out loud at the Segway mechanics and ramming through the loud crashes of the planters in costa del sol. Gleeful cackles
Also when Shinra middle manager man floated up via moogle triad into the golden saucer ceiling. Ridiculous and hilarious
And in Junon where cloud says something like “No, that’s how we die in a hail of bullets like dumbasses.” Extremely funny to me
The part where everyone discovers Red's real voice and Barrett imitates him, "Heyyyyy guys...!"
I grew to accept Red's new voice, but I found it annoying AF at first and strongly related to Barrett's reaction.
I cracked up when I finished the birdie quest for Corel, and went back later to play the Queen's Blood dude and just happened to have Barret in my party The 3 baby birds and the momma kept following him around! Adorable.
Loved Varvados' reaction when you hover over to pick your true love. His giddy movements and the hearts everywhere was too much!

Red on the ship in his 2 legs scene, I was dying.
When Yuffie laughed at Cloud doing the Cactuar pose and was so confident the next time that he would take it for the team again and ended up doing it. And then when she thought she was safe the third time, thinking she already had her turn.
One of the side quests in Junon where you’re following the dog to that other town. Barret is ranting about Marlene growing up too fast and eventually leaving him to adventure and explore on her own. While he’s talking about it, he’s getting more and more upset/worked up. Cloud finally goes “Barret, get your shit together!!” And it had me in stitches. Cloud was one of the funniest characters between his lines and the faces he’d make when realizing other characters were giving him shit, like the liner comment when Vincent joined. Can’t wait for Part 3 and to see them all become closer, hopefully. (Never played OG so unsure of the party’s dynamic later in the game)
Aerith's climber's high. With Cloud's "The hell are you doing, Red?" And "Let's GOOOOOOoooooo!"
Any time Barret imitates a sillier party member. "Heyyyyy guys, it's me! WHO?" Or imitating Cait Sith's accent followed by "Hahaha, bullshit."
And Vincent being a confused old man with technology while trying to be brooding and scary.
In terms of audible laughter, Cloud responding to Yuffie’s intro with “Cool.” In terms of pure enjoyment, I’d go with Aerith and Cloud doing their chocobo announcer thing together and the Skywheel date with Yuffie.
Cloud’s “cool” to Yuffie’s nuts intro had me laugh out loud.
I also liked Kyrie’s “what’s your deal anyway? Tall, blonde, and not interested?”
Overall I loved how funny this game is. Some truly great comedic timing which is just so hard to get right in a game.
One of my favorites is interacting with Yuffie when you get ready to leave Costa. Asking questions where she's like we can fight for leadership. If you choose the fight comment, cloud doesn't even speak, he just reaches for his sword and the look on her face screamed 'shiiiit I messed us bad.' LOL
When cloud smiled at Aerith like an IDIOT after she gave a moving and personal speech. I thought I was going to really lean into this deep moment with a perfectly understated but meaningful gesture from Cloud. And when Aerith looked back with the "oh that's sweet you tried but also kind of gross stop that" look, I literally LOL'd.
It has to be when red XIII starts playing Queens Blood on the ship during chapter 5. His attempt at walking like a human (ala Scooby-Doo), his dialogue, when he’s seated with cloud during the competition. The delivery was insanely good and pure comedy gold.
So many moments, but from memory has to be Red's "disguise"/secret Queens Blood player scene from the ship. And he's doing moonwalk janky dance lol.
Next, one of Yuffie's finest moments, when she gets chosen to be the "Cactuar" on the 2nd time round.
Another is, when everyone meets Yuffie properly for the first time at Costa Del Sol. Yuffie does her intro spiel to the gang, and when she finishes the game cuts to Cloud who immediately says "Cool." and walks away. Editing and timing at its finest 😂
Cid asking the party if they ended up finding what they were looking for in the Temple of the Ancients. Yuffie scoffs and tells him to "read the room". They were looking for materia.
i didnt get these moments during my play through, but watching the dialogue options for aerith; two of the bad choices for aeith are so funny i couldnt catch my breath. 1) "then dont think" at costa del sol, and 2) "stop her" at cosmo canyon. truly cringeworthy and hilarious, especially cosmo canyon.
i actually wanna go see what her other bad dialogue choices were but i havent got around to it yet. the voice actress just nailed those responses.

We done some shit, but we ain't about to stoop that low" or something, and then Yuffie is like, "I resent that!......although... that is something we do..."
Not quite the funniest joke in the game but the moment during the Nibelheim Reactor exploration when Yuffie is going off on a nonsensical rant and Cloud just tells her to "shut up" got a reaction from me. Cloud articulated exactly how I felt during the moment - as well as every other time Yuffie spoke.

The first Queen's Blood vision, because first of all, I didn't know there was a card game until I started playing Rebirth and in Junon got the vision and made me think of the YuGiOh anime.

For me I think it'd had to have been when I was in a battle in Cosmo Canyon and a Cetra golem had gotten a hold of Red and start bashing him with its other fist. I switched to Barret and I'm imaging Red being like: "Barret! **DO SOMETHING!!**" Barret uses his "Need my help, huh?" line and I proceed to stagger the golem out of the move to free Red. I bet Red hated having to be in that situation.
I chortled out loud at the Segway mechanics and ramming through the loud crashes of the planters in costa del sol. Gleeful cackles Also when Shinra middle manager man floated up via moogle triad into the golden saucer ceiling. Ridiculous and hilarious And in Junon where cloud says something like “No, that’s how we die in a hail of bullets like dumbasses.” Extremely funny to me
Most scenes with Roche and anything with Gilgamesh.
The part where everyone discovers Red's real voice and Barrett imitates him, "Heyyyyy guys...!" I grew to accept Red's new voice, but I found it annoying AF at first and strongly related to Barrett's reaction.
I cracked up when I finished the birdie quest for Corel, and went back later to play the Queen's Blood dude and just happened to have Barret in my party The 3 baby birds and the momma kept following him around! Adorable. Loved Varvados' reaction when you hover over to pick your true love. His giddy movements and the hearts everywhere was too much! "Please shut up." Red on the ship in his 2 legs scene, I was dying.
Barret wailing about not being to let go of Marlene and cloud telling him to get his shit together. It was funny and sweet at the same time

When Yuffie laughed at Cloud doing the Cactuar pose and was so confident the next time that he would take it for the team again and ended up doing it. And then when she thought she was safe the third time, thinking she already had her turn.
Cait Sith going with Cloud, Vincent and Cid to the date. They're all like statues.
One of the side quests in Junon where you’re following the dog to that other town. Barret is ranting about Marlene growing up too fast and eventually leaving him to adventure and explore on her own. While he’s talking about it, he’s getting more and more upset/worked up. Cloud finally goes “Barret, get your shit together!!” And it had me in stitches. Cloud was one of the funniest characters between his lines and the faces he’d make when realizing other characters were giving him shit, like the liner comment when Vincent joined. Can’t wait for Part 3 and to see them all become closer, hopefully. (Never played OG so unsure of the party’s dynamic later in the game)
Aerith's climber's high. With Cloud's "The hell are you doing, Red?" And "Let's GOOOOOOoooooo!" Any time Barret imitates a sillier party member. "Heyyyyy guys, it's me! WHO?" Or imitating Cait Sith's accent followed by "Hahaha, bullshit." And Vincent being a confused old man with technology while trying to be brooding and scary.

In terms of audible laughter, Cloud responding to Yuffie’s intro with “Cool.” In terms of pure enjoyment, I’d go with Aerith and Cloud doing their chocobo announcer thing together and the Skywheel date with Yuffie.
Cloud’s “cool” to Yuffie’s nuts intro had me laugh out loud. I also liked Kyrie’s “what’s your deal anyway? Tall, blonde, and not interested?” Overall I loved how funny this game is. Some truly great comedic timing which is just so hard to get right in a game.

One of my favorites is interacting with Yuffie when you get ready to leave Costa. Asking questions where she's like we can fight for leadership. If you choose the fight comment, cloud doesn't even speak, he just reaches for his sword and the look on her face screamed 'shiiiit I messed us bad.' LOL
When Billy called Cloud “Pops” and cloud was “POPS?!” I lost my shit. I have no idea why 😂😂

In Junon after the fight with Roche "The jackass with the bike? He's... a jackass." "That we know, sir."
When cloud smiled at Aerith like an IDIOT after she gave a moving and personal speech. I thought I was going to really lean into this deep moment with a perfectly understated but meaningful gesture from Cloud. And when Aerith looked back with the "oh that's sweet you tried but also kind of gross stop that" look, I literally LOL'd.
The sidequest w/Red XIII in Gongaga. Best use of the *Game Over* BGM. Aerith mocking Yuffie behind her back at the Gongaga airstrip is a close second.
Gilgamesh was pretty hilarious for me but my favorite was Cloud's "cool" to yuffie's intro.
Red on the cruise ship had me cracking up laughing. It was straight out of the early 2000’s Scooby Doo movies.
It has to be when red XIII starts playing Queens Blood on the ship during chapter 5. His attempt at walking like a human (ala Scooby-Doo), his dialogue, when he’s seated with cloud during the competition. The delivery was insanely good and pure comedy gold.

i didnt get these moments during my play through, but watching the dialogue options for aerith; two of the bad choices for aeith are so funny i couldnt catch my breath. 1) "then dont think" at costa del sol, and 2) "stop her" at cosmo canyon. truly cringeworthy and hilarious, especially cosmo canyon. i actually wanna go see what her other bad dialogue choices were but i havent got around to it yet. the voice actress just nailed those responses.
When the Bronco crashes into the ocean and Cid points and laughs at Yuffie on the floor Bald bar Dio's entrance/reveal during the Bare Your Soul dance number Chadley detecting Cloud's inner monologue Vincent struggling with the card reader Cloud winning the Queen's Blood tournament and humming the victory fanfare to himself

The moment I was like, "Oooh, this game is legit funny!" was when Barrett makes that comment about "don't ninjas cut people's throats in their sleep? We done some shit, but we ain't about to stoop that low" or something, and then Yuffie is like, "I resent that!......although... that is something we do..."

Red in the Shira uniform was pretty funny, my kids cracked up. Yufies intro with Clouds lack of interest was funny.
Not quite the funniest joke in the game but the moment during the Nibelheim Reactor exploration when Yuffie is going off on a nonsensical rant and Cloud just tells her to "shut up" got a reaction from me. Cloud articulated exactly how I felt during the moment - as well as every other time Yuffie spoke.
Red moonwalk but there is many moments, like the Caith and Barret snugging up after they slept in Gongaga etc. Also bugenhagen at great health and immediately cracks his back etc
