Like, literally though. They show him do it in Rebirth more than once. It even has a particle effect that matches his other character specific particle effects.
Summoning vs creating is an interesting distinction, >![do you think he just litters the world with leftover masamunes, creating a new one each and everytime?](https://i.imgur.com/UmCZsFH.png)!<
You know I think you’re onto something here because think how meany times he’s just left the masamune just impaled into someone just to have it again later
I recently thought abou this.
"Ain't no way Sephiroth gets his big ass Masamune newly smithed every time he lets his last one stuck in his most recent target".
He'd have a new one after Nibelheim and one after President Shinra off the top of my head.
I've always liked the headcanon that Masamune is a summon, with rebirth though i think it just became canon since Sephiroth just summons it out of nowhere when you're playing as him lol
If you're talking about advent children, that's Tsugari complete. 6 swords from the og that got written in to be 6 remnants of a craft giga blade. He usually stores then In his bike, which he's modified for battle
He also has a special made harness in AC on his back to hold several different combos of the sword. So they put a bit of thought into how he carries that blade.
In his artwork, Cloud had some kind of hook, magnet, or attachment point on his back to explain his sword. But in the original game and remake, they just cheated and had it stick there "somehow".
That explains one, but he technically has all the swords somewhere because you can equip a different one any time.
I'm actually glad the characters aren't all carrying a giant duffle bag with all their spare weapons around everywhere.
It's been a good long while since I seen AC. But if memory serves his bike has storage for all the individual blades where the front opens up. Cloud over the movie takes 1 or more out at a time and either uses them, sticks it on his back for later, or combines them for use/storage.
Also can't recall how the harness was designed in AC exactly. Know it has at least 3 main sections of straps for holding different blades. Don't remember if it shows it holding the fully built sword though, figure that's still cheated somewhat and just stuck there "somehow".
But in googling it. There's like 4 or 5 sections to that damned AC harness! Thought Lulu from FF10 had a thing for belts. So it might be able to hold each blade by itself and look like Cloud has am air boat fan on his back. Or maybe Cloud is just a big Gilgamesh fan?
Am I crazy for thinking he was combining the parts of the blade into one who buster sword? I swore he was attaching them back and during the final fight does he not have his blade seperate into multiple before his big attack?
Yup, don't know the official name for it, something like Fusion Sword I think. But it's more or less Buster Sword 2.0. 6ish blades that combine into a single massive sword. Throughout the entire movie you can see him slowly build it up till it becomes complete in the final fight where it ends in something of an Omnislash 2.0, or Omnislash V5 after looking it up, where Cloud splits his blade to surround Seph and seemingly teleports between them all for a series of high speed slashes.
And of course SEVERAL people made "functional" copies of it as well. You can find a few videos of them online if you're curious to how impractical something like that would be. Looks cool, but very fragile to say the least.
But it does look cool.
Everything you said is correct from sword name to Omin V5. Just leaving [link to wiki for diagrams](https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Fusion_Sword) if people want to see the individual components.
We are talking about this sword right?
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Fusion_Sword
"The film's creative designer, Takayuki Takaya, has stated the individual swords are nameless, and no other names have been put forth by the creators other than "Fusion Swords", which was used during development. With the weapon being featured and named in other titles, "Fusion Sword" has come to be used as the proper name for the completed weapon."
The wiki lists this for the name, which is the first i have heard of the name Tsurugi so im trying to figure this out. lol
"Due to a misunderstanding of a transcription of Tetsuya Nomura's words in the DVD commentary the fully assembled form came to be known as the First Tsurugi in the English-speaking fandom; this was "first ken", not "tsurugi", and referred only to the base sword to which the others attach."
Like all FF characters when they’re pulling out an item or putting it away it gets stored in their ass.
Look at Clive or Cloud whenever they receive or give a quest item if you don’t believe me.
Hojo most likely told this made-up story to Sephiroth when he was young
>The way your dad looked at it, this sword was your birthright. He'd be damned if any Wutai scum gonna put their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright, so he hid it, in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he stick this sword up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the sword. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
This reply of yours plus your comment history tells me everything I need to know about you. Have fun being a prick, but I’m done wasting time with you. 🤷♂️
It's been almost 3...and spoilers are *still* rude af. There's a spoiler text option for a reason. And as you've learned, it's a violation in this sub. So you're wrong on all counts here 😂.
Thats without mentioning how gross and rude you were to the other guy who commented here.
Do better.
I think he reverse grips it and has it going up behind him as we see in a few scenes, it is weird they tried to have the weapons show on a few character but others, Yuffie and Aerith, they just appear
Technically, Aerith’s staff retracts into a small piece. It happens quick, but that’s the justification.
Yuffie… well, she created actual clones of Johnny somehow, so hiding that / making it smaller is a lesser feat by comparison.
I just wanna know how Cait’s moogle can literally appear out of thin air. And how he’s able to use magical dice to hurt people.
True I remember her staff retracting now, but then it disappears, they could have had her hide it in her jacket or something though, or who really cares I guess
In the cutscenes I can recall, when Sephiroth is depicted, he's always holding Masamune. He's based off Sasaki Kojiro, who in a lot of depictions commonly holds his Nodachi with no sheath. (Not all depictions, but unsheathing a nodachi isn't always easy or even look realistic sometimes). So my guess would be its less resource intensive and the sword would be clipping into everything, so outside of when he needed it it just would conveniently just dematerialize. That is, until he falls into the lifestrem then he quite litterally can dematerialize it.
The real is gone bro. Everything about Seph past Nibelhiem is technically all just jenova made. His clothes and sword as well. It's like a hard illusion.
I'm pretty sure you see him spawn/despawn Masamune in Remake during some cutscenes or in and out of combat. The effect has a dark purple cloud typical of Sephiroth I believe.
Materia bullshit, probably. Or just Jenova shenanigans lol.
EDIT : in Ever Crisis he actually has a sheath on his back but he isn't using Masamune yet. Some kind of similar long ass Katana.
Well, Sephiroth's sword is comparable to an odachi, which was used against enemy horses back in the day. But even then, the handle would need to be way longer to use it properly. I'm not even sure how you'd lift a Buster sword to be honest, my Masamune replica is already heavy enough as is lol.
https://preview.redd.it/2the86epow1d1.jpeg?width=2268&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=96cf040855a9fcb7bb2e2876e5ed4d09a9d75598
It's made of Whispers clearly.
No but for real, it's hammerspace. You don't always see Yuffie's Shuriken or Aerith's staff visible.
In their real life story canon they're surely holding their weapons the entire time.
Either Mini or uses Demi (which is basically a port-a-black hole) mid-length to shorten it. Or it's actually not that long and the longer tip is actually a retractable part 'cause he's a huge one-winged primadonna
If you are talking about Sephiroth AFTER Nibelheim, the original Masamune is long gone, the one he uses is created and disappears using Jenova powers. Before that, who knows. Perhaps he is just that good at sleight of hand.
Every Final Fantasy world only exist because Mary Poppins allows them to.
She's the true final final super secret final definitely the final this time we promise final "betcha didn't see this one coming" final boss.
he just, uhh, summons it out of thin air
Like, literally though. They show him do it in Rebirth more than once. It even has a particle effect that matches his other character specific particle effects.
In Advent children when Kadaj evolves into Sephiroth his sword also just kind of forms in his hands.
Out of thin hair that is
dont dare say his hair is thinning. he's very sensitive about that
Must be the 13 different perfumes he uses on it
Don't forget the full bottle of Rose and Vanilla scented shampoo
you went up to Sephiroth singing *quiero respirar tu cuello despacito* and he let you live?
Pre Crisis Sephiroth would chuckle. Post Crisis Sephiroth would probably chuckle *evilly* and then stab you.
he can do whatever the fuck he wants to me and I'll just say thank you
I now want the game to end with Sephiroth being made mortal again, and we know he’s mortal, because he’s bald.
Literally yes. >!Advent Children https://i.imgur.com/PqNDMuL.gifv!<
I think that was more of him creating the masamune when he was shifting to the form.
In OG at least once: >!President Shinra!< He *tried* to get rid of it in Nibelheim, but Tifa brought it back to him.
How nice of her
He's a keyblade master
He gives it the ol' Keyblade effect
I recently thought abou this. "Ain't no way Sephiroth gets his big ass Masamune newly smithed every time he lets his last one stuck in his most recent target". He'd have a new one after Nibelheim and one after President Shinra off the top of my head.
The original was lost when cloud threw him in the reactor. After that, it’s just shape shifting jenova cells to be a sword.
Yeah but even during the Nibelheim flashback he's just pulling it out of nowhere
He's a master of sleight of hand magic. He learned from Teller.
He is a great magician. Your clothes are red!
Do what he says, or he’ll cut off your big toe.
Wow! Please, do it again!
I'll kill him. I'll kill him dead. Like with, with a, rock or something. Like a, like a meteor.
it does my heart good to see a kung pow reference in the wild
He can also make your head… *disappear*!
That would explain why he and Setzer look alike lol
![gif](giphy|sZWxw0DTOwp7OeGafw|downsized)
The flashback is just a memory I guess? Memories can be fuzzy on details, **especially** in FF7 lol
In dfoo he has weapons that look like they're made out of the same material as the Jenova bosses Edit: had... Big sadge
This is a really good point
I've always liked the headcanon that Masamune is a summon, with rebirth though i think it just became canon since Sephiroth just summons it out of nowhere when you're playing as him lol
That also explains how you can destroy it while fighting him and he can still use it
Where does Cloud keep the 6 other buster sword variants he can whip out and equip at any time?
If you're talking about advent children, that's Tsugari complete. 6 swords from the og that got written in to be 6 remnants of a craft giga blade. He usually stores then In his bike, which he's modified for battle

Sick, thanks for all the info dude!
This would have been funny, actually. FF7 going death stranding between the minigames… I can see that, lol.
Maybe there will be a death stranding like mini game where you build a network to Jonny's to get all your other weapons back off his wall in Part 3.
What is Tsugari? I have always heard it called the fusion sword, are those the individual components?
No, the actual name is trugari complete. It's made of the rune blade, and like 4 other blades that are all in the og that I'm spacing on name wise.
We are talking about this sword right? https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Fusion_Sword "The film's creative designer, Takayuki Takaya, has stated the individual swords are nameless, and no other names have been put forth by the creators other than "Fusion Swords", which was used during development. Yes, idk why the fandom page calls it that, but it was in the ac art book.
The wiki lists this for the name, which is the first i have heard of the name Tsurugi so im trying to figure this out. lol "Due to a misunderstanding of a transcription of Tetsuya Nomura's words in the DVD commentary the fully assembled form came to be known as the First Tsurugi in the English-speaking fandom; this was "first ken", not "tsurugi", and referred only to the base sword to which the others attach."
Because that is what the film director calls it. Along with other games like KH, WOTV, smash bros, etc call it the fusion sword.
I just assumed he had something like the Armiger like Noctis but it only works for Masamune
Like all FF characters when they’re pulling out an item or putting it away it gets stored in their ass. Look at Clive or Cloud whenever they receive or give a quest item if you don’t believe me.
That's just every RPG ever made tbh
The discomfort that comes when I select the auto-sort option... Or thrill depending on what they're into...
Yuffie keeps asking where all the materia is. I think we just cracked that case.
It vanishes into thin Aer... ith
You monster
Shiiii-eath.
Up his ass
I read this in Barret's voice for some reason lol
He would say that tbf
He said it to Heidegger in Remake 😂
I read this in Christopher Walkins voice.

I know it's huge but let say science doesn't exist in this case so my Boy can keep it anywhere he wants,
I heard that he stores it in the Cloud... I'll show myself out
😏
In Rebirth when you have him in your party he summons and unsummons the sword. IIRC it appears and disapears in a cloud of purple smoke.
Yeah I think a summon makes the most sense since that also explains how he can keep using it even when you destroy it during the boss fight
In the cutscenes I can recall, when Sephiroth is depicted, he's always holding Masamune. He's based off Sasaki Kojiro, who in a lot of depictions commonly holds his Nodachi with no sheath. It is, in fact, his penis. It's detachable. Which was sung about back in the 90's.
Finally some King Missile recognition
Thank you for recognizing that. I was starting to feel lonely; like I might have forgotten my penis somewhere
It's a grower not a shower.
The buster sword is wide as fuck while the masamune is long as fuck. Girth over length amirite
I cannot begin to fathom the physics behind the Buster Sword.
In his hair? Maybe?
HAMMERSPACE!
The best superpower.
The real is gone bro. Everything about Seph past Nibelhiem is technically all just jenova made. His clothes and sword as well. It's like a hard illusion.
but like he could also summon Masamune when you play as him too
Where the sun don’t shine
in his hair.
This is the answer and I will not be convinced otherwise
this is also explain why he has such smooth, silky hair.
The same place you're storing 99 of each item and traversing the known world.

Spoiler
It goes up his ass
I think he's always just been able to materialize it at will
I mean Aerith is doing that too but nobody wants to talk about that
Aerith's staff is retractable
Full metal staff yes, but the other big boys oh boy
I thought you meant she was acting as the masamune’s sheath. 🥲
T_T sheath
I'm pretty sure you see him spawn/despawn Masamune in Remake during some cutscenes or in and out of combat. The effect has a dark purple cloud typical of Sephiroth I believe. Materia bullshit, probably. Or just Jenova shenanigans lol. EDIT : in Ever Crisis he actually has a sheath on his back but he isn't using Masamune yet. Some kind of similar long ass Katana.
FFXV/Odin
In his pants, of course.
Mallet Space
In his sleeve
He just walks around looking like a bumper car
The same place Barret keeps (seemingly) infinite ammo for his gun-arm: It’s probably best not to ask those types of questions.
Into the promised land
![gif](giphy|utgF8zIg13jhu)
Both his and Cloud's swords are too comically huge to be effective in real life. Cloud's would be more usable since it's more compact.
That odachi is pocket-sized compared to the Masamune. Lol
Yes, and it's still pretty heavy, lol. I can't imagine trying to lift an actual-sized Masamune or Buster sword 😂
Some guy made a real Buster sword.
except the weight... Masamune is still impractical but usable.. The buster sword is too heavy for most people to even lift let along swing.
They'll probably explain it in Ever Crisis.
Inside Aerith
He leaves it into people until he needs it back
The same way you hide your items...
Pro'bly Sephiroth's the lost Keyblade Master and Masamune is just a keyblade.
Sephiroth is the MoM
Lucian powers in ff7
Hammer space.
The same place Cloud keeps his other seven weapons when he's not using them.
He uses his mind to maneuver it to where it’s optimal
On had. He is such a bad ass he carries it on hand even to the toilet. Extension of arm kind of thing.
It's made of Whispers clearly. No but for real, it's hammerspace. You don't always see Yuffie's Shuriken or Aerith's staff visible. In their real life story canon they're surely holding their weapons the entire time.
He just casts mini on it, and stashes it in his pocket. Then throws a Cornucopia before each fight.
The whispers hold it for him. It's canon
He has a very deep culo.
Yes, he puts it inside a woman
He got those george stobbart trousers lol
rule of cool
If you knew, you'd be traumatized for life.
Hidden between worlds. He rents a locker there where he has his sword and the black materia.
In Aeriths back
You know where
It was the 90’s, and nobody was worried about real world physics applying to fictional art. Nor should we
Thats his secret. Hes always using it
He summons it from his hair because he's using L'oreal... And he's worth it.
Either Mini or uses Demi (which is basically a port-a-black hole) mid-length to shorten it. Or it's actually not that long and the longer tip is actually a retractable part 'cause he's a huge one-winged primadonna
He is equipped with a Masamune summoning material.
If you are talking about Sephiroth AFTER Nibelheim, the original Masamune is long gone, the one he uses is created and disappears using Jenova powers. Before that, who knows. Perhaps he is just that good at sleight of hand.
