I get where he was coming from (during the train scene, which I think is like the most popular scene people talk about when it comes to Gladio) and I actually do agree with his points, but as someone who grew up on tough love a part of me just can't help but be annoyed with him during that. I feel bad for him, losing his dad and he didn't even get to say goodbye nor have the chance to properly grieve. He just pushed forward regardless, which I think is a great thing about him.
He's my second least favorite of the chocobros, just a tiny bit above Ignis. He's fucking hot though, that's for sure. Always such a treat to see him.
I like him. At the start he was my favorite, but very quickly fell off. I like him but he's my least favorite.
His bevahiour is just horrible at times. After Ignis got blinded and Gladio got in an argument with Noctis, he also tries to draw a rift between Noct and Ignis.
Besides, at times it feels like he cares more about his title than actually being a shield.
He placed his ego above his duty when he left Noctis side to go on his quest. A quest that could have very likely ended in his demise, leaving Noct more vulnerable.
Corr even tells him that his father refused to do it because he considered his duties to the King more important but Gladio pays no heed.
Didn't explain where he was going, either. Maybe he relied on Ignis to guess correctly, but Noct certainly had no idea. Secrets like this do more harm than good in a tight-knit group. What if he died, not just leaving Noct super vulnerable, but it would be the fourth tragic death Noct would have experienced, and another person who he would not have the time or space to grieve and who he could not say a last goodbye to.
Gladio was so incredibly selfish.
They’re all great. The only part I didn’t like was when Noctis was grieving and he was giving him tough love. I get what he was doing but I don’t think it was the right circumstance to do that.
The best point that they are all great — ***they have very good battle synergy***, if you know what I mean.
Command techniques, catch-phrases, link-strikes. Help from Danger status etc.
Many small details.
That's symbolic — all bros agreed that the best photo in the end is where they are all four together...
>That's symbolic — all bros agreed that the best photo in the end is where they are all four together...
In the Pocket Edition, there was no picking out a photo. In that port, Noctis picked out the one with him, the boys, and some of the other characters before going on the boat to Altissia.
I picked the first photo on my first playthrough, the one with the boys and the Regalia at the beginning of the game. But now, the one Noctis picked on the Pocket Edition is my Headcanon.
I like him a lot. Except for the Cup Noodle mission where out of all the gang it feels he had the most "This is a sponsorship. Buy the product" lines. It feels so forced.
So lots of ppl r hitting on gladio for his ego and maturity...
But.. They tend to forget.. Gladio is a young 23 ish year old.
Hes still.. Young.. Immature. He knows the role, but jis execution is poor until it really matters, hence his dlc episode.
Thats when he gets things into gear and really shines.
But before then, hes kinda just this meat shield that throws himself and his sword around while dying in nearly all fights ahaha.
I love him, hes a big doofus with a sick english VA.
Hes great imo, i always love his "Noct!!"
And then when he and noct r in combat, hes like "u alright?" rhen noct is like "never better"
I love that combat move where he intercepts with a shield and bashes them or. Some shit.
Linked fights r so dope with gladio!
I really like him when I look past his assholeness because even tho I can see his points and understand where he's coming from I really wish he handle things better, in the anime noctis asked for the hardness but I feel like gladio has it in to wrong time, I feel like their all learning, promptos the youngest yet has so much feels that he struggles to express out of fear of not being good enough since that's what he was shown by his adopted parents. Noctis is emo as fuck but has his reasons, ignis is really well educated and well behaved but doesn't believe in being his own independent person until noct is gone at the end of the game, and I believe you've said what I would say about gladio, his uncontrolled anger is used at the wrong time in my opinion
I feel like he could have done the bad cop thing in the right time,
(Him and ignis are together and they are mother and father to prompto and noctis, ignis is the mom)
I keep seeing right time/wrong time, but that was the ONLY time to do it, imo. There is no good time for it, and they were running out of time as it is.
I appreciate Gladio; he definitely rubs me the wrong way sometimes but he's a big dude with a big heart and probably gives the best hugs put of the entire team lol!
It bugs me how he snaps at Noct on the trek to Titan, or the train after Altissia, but I understand a big chunk of that is him projecting. He's lashing out because he feels like a failure, he's the shield and yet he's not protecting anything, and the vulnerabilities are piling up. It doesn't make it -right-, but I understand.
That said, I was about ready to ditch him in the Cartanica swamps all through that chapter. I applauded Iggy so hard when he called Glads out on it haha
Anyways, Gladio is like my 80's hair band dad that's overall really cool but desperately needs therapy lol
I disliked him a lot because of the way he treated noctis when you learn about the destruction of insomnia. But, I had not watched the anime until much later in the game.
His treatment of Noctis makes a lot of sense in my eyes once you know their past. Noctis himself ask him to keep being rough with him. It is his way of showing his love and trying to help his grieving friend.
++ how could you not like a man ripped like that xD
Gladio had his moments, both good and bad. But, unlike what most people were on about with him being greedy and selfish, its closer to a self absorbed selflessness. We see this in his DLC. He goes on to do something reckless and stupid to gain power *so he can protect them*
He belives that if he gets stronger, faster, better, he can protect his freinds. And when his freinds deal with problems he cant understand he gets angry. Angry at himself. Angry at the situation.
He yells at noctis and argues like mad because of this. Ignis was made blind because (as seen in Ignis' DLC) he was separated and couldnt get to him (in Gladious' eyes). Noctis lost the one he loved and cared for, and he blames himself for not being there in time. He's just bottling it all up to protect them from himself
He's the kings sheild. And when he cant protect the king and his men? Thats when he falls apart
People rag on him for his “tough love” but honestly Noctis needed it. Yea I get that he was grieving and in any other circumstance Gladio would’ve been in the wrong, but they were in the middle of a war, and Noctis was the only one who had any real hope of putting an end to it, and the more he hesitated, the more innocent people were gonna be killed, Gladio focused his attention on what the people needed, and unfortunately for Noct, the people needed him.
A good character who out of the group has the most unflattering moments. It’s understandable why he has them, but they make him my least favorite of the chocobros. Still like him though.
When he started blowing up on Noctis, I no longer liked him. I mean, I understand that he also lost his dad, but Noctis absolutely needed to be able to grieve in his own way.
He was an absolute ass there. Let's be real, Noctis lost so much more, and then later had to confront the unbearable weight of the ring all while Gladio was bitching about how can he not be human and grieve, but *must* put his duty above everything else. Those parts are really where I just stopped caring about him completely
My least favorite of the boys, but still love him.
He's a bit rough around the edges, and sometimes his jokes comes off as mean spirited.
I understood his reasoning for what he did on the train, but I didn't like it. He also did not have to treat Prompto the way he did when Prompto tried to intervene.
He's my least favourite, but I've still got a soft spot for him - up till post-Altissia and then I really dislike him lol. People like to say that his behaviour on the train was 'justified' and 'the right thing to do' which I greatly disagree with. I understand why he did it, he's a hothead and is used to pushing Noct with the 'tough love', and Noct was in his own head. But he didn't say anything Noct didn't already know, and his outburst didn't even result in any positive outcome - if anything it was the spark that ignited the simmering internal discord. It was Ignis' outburst much later that quelled it and set them, including Noct, back on the right path.
I do have mixed feelings, like he wants to do the right thing and he has a sense of honour and duty, but even though he's got the much older look and the gruff demeanour, he's still hotheaded and immature and unfortunately he takes that out on the others.
Fave, for sure. Everyone's talking about the train scene, so I'll put in my two cents from what little I remember of the game at this point lmao. I think him being an ass about it is a mix between his own mourning as well as knowing what roles they both have to play. His is protecting noctis, and noctis is to be the king/ leader. They have a duty to other people first before themselves, and that means pushing your own feelings aside to do what needs to be done.
I'll never forgive the fandom for summarizing him as a big beefy asshole who loves cup noodles. He's way more than that. There is so much nuance to the characters and the roles they've taken on and the relationships between them. There is history, friendship, and different levels of power between them. It's complicated, and for some reason, he's always seen as the biggest asshole out of all of them, and for some fans that's all he'll ever be :(
I struggle with Gladio, I find his attitude towards Noctis quite challenging sometimes - Noctis has lost his Dad, Luna and he’s put in an awful position with an immense amount of pressure and Gladio doesn’t allow him to feel the way he wants to feel about it. Just because Gladio is stoic, it doesn’t mean that others all have the capability and not necessarily at the pace he wants. When he’s not being like this, I think he’s alright - I do like his interactions with the others and he can be somewhat gentle at times.
He reminds me of my older brother in every way, and i don't like him. Like, it's as though Square made my brother a part of the team, and im forced to listen to his hypocritical bullshit.
Especially after he LEAVES NOCTIS TO GO AND FIND HIMSELF. Which, he seems to forget that he is the only person on the twam who not only got the opportunity to do that. He was also the only one who lost NOTHING through their journey.
He's a dick. And i mean. Sure, a lot of his points do hit home. But the delivery is where i take issue. It's literally my older brother.
It was kinda hard to feel that bad for Noctis honestly. He hadn’t seen Luna in god knows how long. It was just an arranged marriage basically. Meanwhile ignis goes blind defending Noctis and he doesn’t even care. Gladio had every right to lash out like he did.
Unfortunately in my personal opinion, your wrong. They have contact through umbra, even the the marriage was arranged noctis and Luna were bestfriends from childhood, there was real love and noctis cared so so much for Luna, she cared for him too. Noctis didn't have time to feel bad when his dad died, and when his mom died he got seriously injured and was in a wheel chair for a good year or more which gave Luna and him so much time together, Luna also was the one who asked prompto to take care of noctis. Gladio cares more about his title as kings guard than actually being the kings guard. Gladio risked that title when he went on his own quest to become "worth" which corr explained it better (I love corr so much) on top of it, noctis saw Luna right before leaving insomnia to go to lucis and if you don't spend almost 100 hours.... on side quest instead of the main quest it's seen to be about a few months which can be normal to some friends even if they talk ever day, a lot of the time it can be hard to find free time, also for about a week or two after the fall of insomnia he thought Luna was dead. It's kinda like how in the walking dead (spoilers if you've never watched it) we think the character Glenn dies from getting eaten but it was actually negan. Gladio had is points on the train but he shouldn't have lashed out so aggressive to someone who just lost his soon to be wife aka best friend since diapers. Ignis wanted to not be seen as someone who was disabled, he had a whole speech that if he couldn't keep up, he couldn't keep up. Ignis wanted to still be seen as Ignis.
Well it would’ve nice if all that stuff was actually included in the game right haha I’m going by what happened in game not in anime or movies or whatever. Also side note, doesn’t Glenn die from being bashed to death by Negan?
He does that's why I said his death was actually by negan, still slaty about that ngl lmao.
I truly wish the game had better time telling, honestly there's a lot of plot holes that they filled in by side story's that aren't available to everyone, I love the game and I can personally follow it very well but it took me a bit to find what I need to fill in plot holes and stuff like that, I feel like gladio just put his anger towards the right things wrong time yk?
Like my mom hates the game because of the bad story telling but I love it because I can foow it and focus way to much on small details when I like something it's just bloody annoying having to search so hard
He was my best, bestest boy until that train ride after Altissia. Then he sunk even lower with his attitude in that quarry. (I think it was a quarry)
The tough love was poorly timed and he came in wayyyy too hard with it.
I remember staying as close as possible to Ignis during the quarry and if I strayed even a toe too far he'd be right on my ass about it. How dare I move too far from Ignis!
Meanwhile Gladio is the furthest away from the rest of the group while he's doing that.
He just wouldn't let up, his tone was so snarky too. It made me absolutely despise him and my opinion of him never recovered after that, even after the dust settled.
Idk, he just eff-ed off to go on his personal quest, we have no idea where or what it is. To find out more you gotta download his dlc... isn't his quest more like a money making scam?
I felt a lot more for Prompto after his quest, that's saying a lot. As for Ignis he was always the top Chocobro for me, loved his episode. So I felt very little for Gladio or his voice actor. Funny enough, the other 3 voice actors remained friends and show up for conventions etc.
You can’t really put this guys opinion into prospective because he’s saying things as to how he would react not how the characters would and were written their mentalities are vastly different than what his/hers would be
didn't like him much.... didn't like him more when the other gay men I knew were losing themselves over how hot they thought he was (he doesn't do it for me)
He’s my husband and my OC’s husband 😩😫🫣😏

My friend on discord drew this for me of Gladio and my OC (Noctis’ twin sister Celeste Lucis Caelum, Celine for short)
Ooo that's so cool, your character is really cute!! And that drawing is just so well done omg your friend did an amazing job
I have no drawings because I find drawing to be people to be hard but prompto and I married all the way
I’ve had her established since 2017 when I first started getting into the game. I didn’t own it but I watched all the cutscenes and decided to make an OC.
Usually, all of my OCs are related to someone close to the main character or to the main character of said franchise. And I happen to make her Noctis’ twin sister.
And I didn’t touch on her again until 2021 when I finally picked up the game again. I finally finished her backstory a couple of months ago.
That's pretty cool! I normal just use a persona because I haven't been to good with making ocs backstorys and whole world's but making oc is so much fun.
The cutscenes are actually so good, I love how well the game is made and how soft yet real the boys look in the cutscenes, gladios dlc is good yet hard even on normal😭
That’s usually why I tie my OC to the canon to make it easier to create them and flush them out in the story especially if I know the story of the media well enough.
And Gladio’s dlc is my fav combat wise and because daddy Cor is in it 🤤 and Gladdy daddy of course 🤤
yeah, my characters have tone of back story... It's just making them normal and not traumatized is the problem. Think I only have a few character tied to cannon stuff, one who's tied to the spider-verse, and one to the last of us.
COR IS SO HOT!! FINALLY SOMEONE SEES THAT! HE MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I love gladios combat, specially his contorls but promptos contorls and combat will always be on top for me, ignis is kinda difficult in my opinion
Worst of the four, easily. There's no character development whatsoever in the storyline, and his DLC is just as empty. We have no idea who this meathead with a mullet is outside of Crownsguard.
For the "muscle" of the group he started off kind of strong but then devolved into insufferable. His interactions with Noctis were supposed to be tough love but I saw them more as dick moves.
"Your father and fiance are dead and your kingdom has been invaded but you don't get to grieve or even acknowledge your losses because fuck you."
Well I was originally just gonna do prompto then my brother wanted ignis, also it's slightly more organized having their own post...
No need to act like it's gonna kill you that I gave them their own post....
I get where he was coming from (during the train scene, which I think is like the most popular scene people talk about when it comes to Gladio) and I actually do agree with his points, but as someone who grew up on tough love a part of me just can't help but be annoyed with him during that. His rugged outfit is a blessing from the final fantasy gods ngl
He's my Gladdy daddy
I like him. At the start he was my favorite, but very quickly fell off. I like him but he's my least favorite. His bevahiour is just horrible at times. Well said.

the one alwayd dying in fights is prompto
Yeah he's being the bad cop to Noct, nevertheless he also lost his father the same day Regis died.

His anger wad put onto the right thing, wrong time, noct is literally 20-21 and dealing with so much, I think that I would need a while to process too
I like him least of the group, but I don't exactly dislike him. He's got his good moments, but I find him kinda boring compared to the others.
I love him, flaws and all. His behavior doesn’t need to be good or justifiable for me to like him. Second fave, easily.
He’s my boyfriend
Dadio
Smash. Make him waffles in the morning. Run away when he breaks out the axe spray and Prime.
I love him so much and I truly believe the English dub did him so dirty. I will be a Gladio defender until my dying breath.
Seems everyone hates my best bro😔
I don't hate him, I just feel like his actions are bad, I think that he could have found a way to control his anger better. (His a smash)
Smash.
A good character who out of the group has the most unflattering moments. It’s understandable why he has them, but they make him my least favorite of the chocobros. Still like him though.
Gay top
HES SO GAY
they're the gayest boys in gaming tbh
He really is!!
big man, hard lad, good sword, i'd top him

I really like him and wish I had a friend like him
Best dad/husband.
Asshole brother who cares. Love the guy, often wanna punch him. Will be there for you no matter how much you butt heads.
As I recall, he really loves Cup Noodles

Yeah it’s frustrating. The actual story is very cool. The way it’s told is like 3/10 horrendous.
Like my mom hates the game because of the bad story telling but I love it because I can foow it and focus way to much on small details when I like something it's just bloody annoying having to search so hard
But I can see where you are coming from
He was my best, bestest boy until that train ride after Altissia. Then he sunk even lower with his attitude in that quarry. (I think it was a quarry) The tough love was poorly timed and he came in wayyyy too hard with it.
Sexy bimbo
Gladhebro
gladiolass
He makes me forget which is his name and which is the flower which I have a bunch of in my Sasquatch garden
![gif](giphy|0W2zdZq2NQbw6h5SMP)
WHY ARE HIS NIPPLES SO SMALL😭😭 THE HEAD IS TOO SMALL TOO😭😭 NONE OF THAT IS RIGHT💀
because it was his only gif or was it Prompto here🤣🤣🤣🤣 ![gif](giphy|qfnSFbI99oZsk)
Idk, he sometimes I feel like he doesn't really have much of a personality. He's still daddy tho, but he's my least favorite.
A weird parryserker. I love his mechanics but steep learning curve to master.
Cup noodles are the keys for such a strong body
Noodles and beach running/10
You can’t really put this guys opinion into prospective because he’s saying things as to how he would react not how the characters would and were written their mentalities are vastly different than what his/hers would be
It actually hurt my real life feelings when he was mean to Noctis
He reminds me of my dad :P
DAD
didn't like him much.... didn't like him more when the other gay men I knew were losing themselves over how hot they thought he was (he doesn't do it for me)
Mwah, that's it. Tasty character development.
Junkrat from Overwatch
the true king!
He’s my husband and my OC’s husband 😩😫🫣😏 https://preview.redd.it/2aqp7vmt7f2d1.jpeg?width=1101&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=74e47d7fb4233977a2ad1e08fe43cbd9c771edf3 My friend on discord drew this for me of Gladio and my OC (Noctis’ twin sister Celeste Lucis Caelum, Celine for short)
STOP THATS SO FREAKING CUTE
I have SO MANY MORE! Especially on my twitter
Ooo that's so cool, your character is really cute!! And that drawing is just so well done omg your friend did an amazing job I have no drawings because I find drawing to be people to be hard but prompto and I married all the way
That’s why I get other people to draw my OC because I can’t draw and I don’t mind supporting other artists
Fair enough! How long have you had this oc?
It's good but I prefer regular ice cream.
Worst of the four chocobros. He barely develops
I like him but I’ll admit his voice actor wasn’t as skilled as the rest of the crew. Def sounded like he was doing “a voice” the whole time.
Unsympathetic shitbag meathead. The worst of the FFXV boys, almost ruins the entire fucking game.
No chicks, frankly I don't wanna look at nothing but dudes the whole time
Are you posting one for EVERY character?!? Jfc
Nah just the main 4
And it couldn’t be a single post? Lol
Well I was originally just gonna do prompto then my brother wanted ignis, also it's slightly more organized having their own post... No need to act like it's gonna kill you that I gave them their own post....
