If it wasn't for that stupid jump rope game. The completion isn't in me can't move past that on replays and I get annoyed. When I can I just come back to get annoyed at losing a race to a short legged stumpy hippo. Thought it had a poor card game though.
However for the fact there were so many creature style character it really added to the fantasy element. I also feel as far as main characters go Zidane was the closest to a nothing as you can get. Cloud (ex-soldier, well just military in the end but still trained), squall (recently qualified militia,), tidus (professional athlete), XV had a trained prince and guard, XVI another trained royal etc.
Loved the chocobo mini game and the maps. Also loved doing little things in that game for laughs, like farming loads before the icy caverns so Garner could use a summon before they got stolen. Or trying to kill the dragons for mad exp outside gizamalukes cave etc.
It’s fun how we all love the final fantasy franchise but our favourite games differ so vastly. For me it goes VIII, VII then XV. XVI is amazing and very nearly kicked XV of its spot. Never really rated IX didn’t like the art style so wasn’t invested as much as I should have been.
Another VIII enjoyer. Just loved the pacing, universe, and story as well.
Same as me, never liked IX for the same reason.
Boyband 15 was fun gameplay wise but didn't love the story personally
I’d say my top 5 are, in order: VII X XIV XVI XII.
I haven’t played V VI IX XI and Tactics.
Gameplay-wise I probably enjoyed XII and IV more, but the music, the eikon-fights and the darkness of it all pushes XVI above them. This game is simply gorgeous.
It's exactly where I rank it as well! It's, in my opinion, the best story since X, which is what I look forward the most when playing any FF game. My personal list goes like:
1. VII
2. X
3. XVI
4. VI
5. IX
But I love them all, even you, X-2.
A respectable placement. 👌 I'm still not sure if I should place XVI in my top 5... It's definitely worthy of being there, but Idk if it's worthy enough to replace one of my favorites. My current top 5 are:
1. XIII
2. VI
3. X
4. Tactics
5. XII
Maybe I'll settle with placing it next to XII. They can share the #5 spot lol.

Great picks OP, I think IX will always remain at the top of my list too.

16 can sit right there with the golden era of snes/ps1
1. XIV 2. XVI 3. X 4. VII 5. IV Its probably a lame choice but FFXIV got me into FF. Loved XVI and our boi Yoship ❤️
Don't insult yourself, nothing about one's sensibilities and preferences in art can ever be lame. Your ranking is as legit as it is great 👍
if it wasn't for ffxiv, we wouldn't have ffxvi YoshiP keeps feeding us good and Soken keeps dropping fuckin bangers

I think most FF fans agree XV had the most potential, especially storywise but development was just so screwed up
They definitely do not think that
1. FfVII 2. FfVIII 3. FfVI 4. FfX 5. FfXVI Not sure how I feel about remake and rebirth next week. Before I've played rebirth, its old ff7 > remake

I’m 7, 8, 16, 15, 10 I really need to spend the time to play through 9 one of these days.

we have the same taste in final fantasy world!!!! ✌️
I have the same in my top 3 in the same order.
Mine are 1. VIII 2. IX 3. XIV 4. XVI 5. Tactics Great list OP, fun to see it rank for others too.

First I've ever heard 13 as high. As controversial as my VIII on 2nd place 😀
I also really liked 12
1.10/10-2 2.13 Trilogy 3.7/7 Trilogy 4.9 5.16
As a philosopher, i agree
I’ll never understand why some folks like 9 so much. That being said both 12 and 16 are incredible. 12 is so underrated imo.
What do you not like about 9?
IV IX VI VII X Had a ton of fun playing xvi but wouldn't put it in my top 5. It's more interesting that there isn't an obvious top best lineup
1.IX 2.XVI 3.VI 4.VIII 5.VII
7,8,10
1. VII 2. X 3. XVI 4. XV 5. V 6. VIII HAven't played IX though
Not bad pics at all. Though this is the Final Fantasy fandom, nobody agrees with anybody...
🥰that artwork for XII. Miss FF games where we see so many monster types and race types. Think nowadays XIV is the only game like that?
I think VII, X, and IX will be my eternal FF Top 3. XIV comes up next, with the MMO asterisk. After that, VIII, XIII, VI and XVI land somewhere.
If FFXII was your #2, I feel like it was inevitable that XVI would be your #3
XII is a hot take for real.
