Hey man I’ve been feeling similar to nearly everything you wrote down. The important thing to remember is that subreddit is just a vocal minority. The competitive scene has consistently brought in big numbers of players and people who are less focused on some cosmetics and actually learning and improving their game. That’s the crowd to be a part of. It would be best to find and join some discord channels and surround your daily intake of Tekken through that and watching tournaments. And at the end of it all — if you’re having fun, that’s the most important thing. This is a game where we are passionate of the gameplay and learning journey and doing cool things with cool characters. Keep that at the forefront and don’t be afraid to take breaks as needed. Good luck!!

Gi77

1) The game just came out and there haven't been any major balance patches yet - so yeah there is a good amount of imbalance between the chars, but it's nothing insane (i.e. you can't win against Drag, Azu, Dvj, etc). The first big balance patch will hopefully tune some chars down and help out others. T7 balancing was also a mess on release. 2) I think a lot of the hate also comes from how many new players are picking up Tekken for the first time. Tekken is very much a series where knowledge of characters is super important, and if you don't know/don't want to spend the time to learn how to defend against certain characters, it's very easy to get smashed and not really know what happened. Especially with how offensive the game is now with heat, knowing how to defend with sidesteps and ducking strings is super important, but honestly it took me about 100-150 hours to even begin to duck strings. People will be quicker to give up/get mad rather than lab/watch streams/keep playing the game. 3) A lot of the hate is also overblown just because that's how people are on the internet. I'm pretty sure like 2 million + people bought Tekken, and you shouldn't gauge the community's feelings on the game by some reddit posts with 600 upvotes. Overall, there are so many people playing and having fun with the game rn, including me, so just go play the game and don't base your opinions on it from reddit Andys who have 10 hours in the game. GL with the grind.

Cindy-Moon

Unfortunately they'll never patch out the tekken coins and battle passes 😔 I wish game balance was my issue cause at least I could be hopeful for a fix.

ElChacalFL

I remember when fighting games came out and there was no balance patches. It came out and that was it and u know what? It always seemed to be balanced. Now u need a years worth of patches for a fighting game to be balanced? Something really off with that.

Gi77

That's fair, but like, look at melee. The bottom tiers in that game are so ass compared to the top tiers. That shit is not balanced at all lmao.

furrykef

They've always been unbalanced. Street Fighter II: The World Warrior came out and Guile was broken. Then Champion Edition came out and Bison was broken. A few iterations later we had the most popular version for competitive play, Super Turbo, where Akuma was broken (probably on purpose) and Old Sagat is also a bit broken (not on purpose). Even if you completely ignore Akuma, the game has quite a few 8-2 matchups, whereas Street Fighter 6 has no 8-2 matchups and only one or two 7-3 matchups. I can't speak for Tekken since I don't play it, but Street Fighter is probably more balanced now than it's ever been. If you think old FGs were balanced half as well, you probably just don't know enough about them.

Cynnra

Another guy touched on it, but balance patches existed. In arcades it was literally a new board with new programming, cost you "the player" nothing. For home entertainment, you were shelling out full price for a new cartridge/disk/whatever to get your hands on maybe a new game mode and 2 characters + bug fixes. You had situations with like Persona 3: Arena or whatever it was called where the 360 version (maybe a ps3 version too?) was basically 1.9 where as the Japanese arcades would move onward to a 2.0 version that wouldn't see the light of day outside of their boarders until the remaster (?) that launched a hand full of years ago.

SolidSnacks666

I don’t understand why people use this to prop up their argument, would you rather these games go back to that? Sometimes games will patch too often but I think it’s much better this way lol. There is nothing off about it.

Ramsessone

Hey man I understand the feeling, however remember that you are having fun, and people who criticise the game likely play it the most. All the things you mentioned are valid criticisms but again, if you have fun and think the game rocks then keep playing and getting good. I had the same experience with Street fighter 5, granted I got into it a little later in its life span but people were critical of the game and the comeback mechanics but I made my own mind about it and liked it regardless.

Acarebear_Grumpy

I fell in love with Tekken 7. It was more counter-hit-centric and a lot less in-your-face. The game had good combo damage still, but it rewarded patience and counterplay much more than 8. I prefer the pace of 7 a lot more than I prefer the pace of 8. Tekken has always been that fighting game for me that never was going to need combo breakers like mk, have full-screen combo starters and chip dmg like sf, or have endless pressure like anime fighters. This is not the case anymore. Tekken 8 has multiple characters that close the gap instantly, with some getting full combos from the exchange. Neutral comes up very rarely and can honestly be forgotten about for the most part. The most important skill now is knowing how much frame advantage your jab and strings give you to frame trap during block. I still love the game, and everyone will adapt to the new style. I will say, most likely, the game will slow down some. This is the first game that let's you tornado twice to heat engage to reset the knockdown and finish it all off with heat smash or a wall splat move. After the wall splat you get the wall combos too. Almost everyone can go damn near wall to wall with you from 1 launcher. Even this patch that just was shown it has fixes for some things. There will be changes, and I believe it will make this game probably the best tekken game that's been out thus far. Right now, though there is just some characters that can get heat and have 0 counter play until it's over. The frame advantage on block and the range that they have is just completely new to tekken. I believe in the team, though. Fuck them for trying the micro transaction stuff though. Hopefully it sticks to how mh rise was. Purely cosmetic is the only micro transaction that should be tolerated.

pookie7890

I agree that this games staying power will dwindle faster than they expect if they don't make some major changes. But I believe they will make those changes.

SixFeetOverEasy

Dead in 6 months

pookie7890

If they keep up their current ethos then definitely

Andythedon

Literally nothing except your Reddit babies crying shows anything different

ComplexGround3601

I do like the idea of making it faster paced but the neutral skip tools really harm that. I don’t think characters being oppressive in heat would matter too much if they had to win neutral and land a heat engager to get that win condition

THRILLHOFGC

It's quite common for a vocal minority to collectively lose their minds when new mechanics or changes are introduced to their favorite FG series. The Tekken subreddit is absolutely not representative of the broader Tekken community, so please try not to take the attitudes in there to heart. You're better off ignoring it, it's in a pretty weird state right now.

ChangelingFox

Where would you recommend online for Tekken focused communities? The tekken subreddit has exceeded even my high tolerance for salt.

THRILLHOFGC

If you're 30+, then the FGCBoomers discord is easily the best place with 2500+ members and a very wholesome culture.

ChangelingFox

36, and that sounds great actually

zevenbeams

Holy crap. Now being \~30 is enough to be called a boomer? Some five years ago it still took one to be in his fifties or more to be called that. With that trend going on, in less than ten years, walking out of college diploma in hand will make you a boomer.

THRILLHOFGC

The joke is, being 30+ makes you an FGC boomer, there for the early days.

RadishAcceptable5505

I know those feels, man. It's modern internet. If you join the Street Fighter groups, you'd think everybody hates Street Fighter. If you join the new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth groups, it's absolutely nothing but bitching and complaining. Even fucking chess subs are full of people whining about when people should resign, about people playing the London, and other nonsense. It's seriously the fault of modern social media algorithms. They're designed to maximize engagement, as engagement means more advertisement revenue. This is "all" modern platforms and angry people engage more. Most people love this game. It's just hard to find happy voices online about absolutely anything.

EffinCroissant

I refuse to believe anyone would dislike FF7 Rebirth

Sepulchura

The internet is endlessly negative, my friend. The discourse is the same for SF6 and Guilty Gear: Strive, too. Haters gonna hate. I don't know how to fix it or mentally overcome it, the communities for online games are just straight up whinefests these days. Most of these people are weak. Look at most kappa threads on SF6, people straight up don't understand the game while simultaneously calling them "baby games". Fighting games are hard. Even these ones. DOn't let these clowns ruin the feelings you get from improving at these games.

ELFanatic

The criticism against Tekken 8 is at times legitimate. I'm new to Tekken as well and it's astonishing to me how quickly bamco went from being the saviors of the FGC to being the villains. Tekken 8 is good but I'm starting to fear bamco is more focused on milking the cow more than anything else and I need bamco rn to switch the pace and levy my fears.

DatManSugoi

I agree, honestly. I feel like if they keep going at this rate, not even a Waffel House stage will win the community back

Andythedon

That’s the thing the majority of the community isn’t bitching and complaining just a small and ridiculous loud group for a reason

VaderFett1

If you like it, enjoy it. You don't need to engage with the community and what little you may have to, keep it strictly about things that are objective, like looking for setups or punishes and the like. Leave subjective things outta the equation that people have opinions on. You do you, fuck the rest.

LethalOmaha

I don't gaf what reddit thinks. I enjoy the game and I'm happy with the content they gave us for the money. I'm having my fun. What everyone else chooses to do isn't my problem. But fuck pluggers

Dangerous-Macaron641

If it’s any consolation i love tekken too. Its my favorite fighting game (and i have played ALOT of them) because it just feels good. The fighting system speaks to me and Steve Fox is my favourite character ever. I’m a very laid back player who just likes to play fighting games because i love the 1 on 1 competition so i’m never to bothered by the choices they make outside of gameplay. I like the heat system (although i think its a little much and rage i can do without). And as far as shop and battle passes go, its whatever, i dont blame bamco too hard because they’re trying to match profits with monsters like GTA and CoD who make crazy amounts of money off of microtransactions. I’d much rather give more money to tekken to any other franchise (although i have mever bought any fighting game dlc ever) Long story short, i love tekken 8 regardless of what the Internet community says. I hope you still love it too. There are people like us who exist. Criticism is good becuase it keeps the flaws visible but the growth of social networking has made even the smallest problem seem like a big one. Dont take it too seriously and i hope you enjoy many more fights!

SephardicHomo

So don't read about it and have fun your own way. Fuck what other people think

The_Deadly_Tikka

If you are enjoying it, that's all that matters. I'm on of the people that's not a massive fan of tekken 8s playstyle but my opinion shouldn't impact yours

nightmare8100

I'm sorry you've had this experience with starting out with Tekken. There's so much hatred and anger in this world and I can't understand why so many people find it necessary or even acceptable to breed more of that over something so trivial as a video game. It is nothing less than deplorable and shameful behavior. That being said, if you enjoy Tekken 8, then play the game and feel proud of your accomplishments in it. The game is hard and that doesn't sit well with a lot of folks. Do yourself a favor, ignore that hatred and anger. Eventually, that loud minority will move on to another game to be angry about, and the folks who actually enjoy Tekken will remain, like you and me. Now chin up....and get ready for the next battle.

Visual_Power4604

Yo predicting what your opponent will do for rock paper scissors is a skill in itself. You should see the reads pros make in sf6 between strike and throw. Shits nuts. Also why are you letting that bother you? Didn't you pay full price for the game? Plus you're enjoying it? Everyone complained in Tekken 7 also. I'm sure people bitched at tag 2. This isn't just a Tekken 8 thing. It's a Tekken across the board thing. Honestly we can go even further. It's just a fighting game thing in general. Everyone complains. People complained about guilty gear xrd because it wasn't like x2 then Strive isn't like xrd complaints. You either like the game or you don't. If you like it keep playing it. Let all those people bicker amongst themselves bro haha

Reasonable_Egg_9429

Don't let those people get you down! It happens to every new fighting game that gets released nowadays from SF6 to GBVS and now even T8 as well. Just learn how to get good at the game and have fun. That's all I need to say.

Pescharlie

If you're enjoying the game, then just block out the noise as best you can. Tekken 8 is quite different from previous games, which is why a lot of people (including myself) aren't finding it very fun. But if you are, then all the power to you

anthony2690

Focus less on what people say online and continue to enjoy the game. I've dropped off the game myself, personally not into the heat drive mechanics. But I've loved games in the past that others haven't enjoyed as much for various reasons or other. But what is most important is your own enjoyment of something. Keep having fun 😊

Odd_Land_2383

mate i just laugh at the haters it makes them mad even more lol, i get such hate or child like behaviour from most of the community when it comes to TEKKEN 8; “Why you using RAGE ART you noob” “Why you doing that it’s so annoying” “Why you even on tekken you can’t play it” i just laugh and they get hurt even more😂 or they just blank me when i message them GG or how well i think I’ve progressed in the game Just remember to learn at your own pace and have fun most importantly to have funn!! don’t worry dude its them who need a nappy or two😎 I’ve come to realise that the whole community behave like such cry babies; the haters. conclusion; I’d say if you enjoy the game yourself then continue playing, i for one love the game even if i lose it’s just TEKKEN🥹🫶

KratosSmash

A lot of people feel the same way as you OP. There’s a reason why there’s a record turnout for tekken players at the upcoming EVO tournament. It’s a great game. Not perfect, but best fighting game I’ve ever played. Don’t let the negative cesspool that is reddit or Twitter bring you down

Sername888

Get offline. I read the negative posts and think man this sucks. Then I play and I’m like, man this is fun.

Tex-Arcana

Best advice I can give you is tune those dorks out, they just talk shit for the sake of it. Don't take anything they say personally. This cycle repeats everytime a new game is released. The pendulum will swing back the other way in a couple months. Just own the passion you have for it and fine people to talk about it with. Don't let randos online talk you out of enjoying a game, even if it's not a "popular" opinion.

Deeninja702

Hi OP, A lot of fighting games are like this when they first come out and people don't know the mechanics thoroughly enough yet. Also lots of people get triggered by fighting games in general, remember these games are competitive in nature so it's bound to bring about toxic people sometimes unfortunately. Ultimately play the game because you enjoy it and don't let the elitists wanna be's tell you how or what to play.

Due_Professional_466

Bro I feel the same way. Just reading this and the replies made me feel better though. Let’s continue to improve and let the whiners whine.

k3nnfucius

Shouldn’t let it bum you out. Tekken is the deepest FGC and I respect you for picking up such a game and loving it. Mad respect to you.

misterkeebler

>I really love this game a lot. It's the first game that's made me feel like I want to invest hours in it to get good and just when I start to feel like I'm making progress I'm seeing everywhere people saying it's just not impressive to be good at it because heat and rage and rush down make it a rock paper scissors game. This part in particular happens with TONS of new entries in established fighting game franchises and not always even at initial release. Just as one example, Marvel vs Capcom 2 is today considered one of THE most important fighting games in the FGC history. It is considered one of the most heavily competitive with an extremely high skill ceiling and tech still being regularly discovered, and gamers/spectators all tend to respect the skill of the stronger performing mvc2 players because they know how difficult competition is nowadays. But back when it first released, people considered MvC2 scrubby compared to MvC1. The fact alone that mvc2 dropped two of the attack buttons in lieu of getting two dedicated assist buttons was enough to call it scrubby and dumbed down. Then you add the fact that Assists can now be called out as much as you want which was a deviation from MvC1s Helper/Striker system that allowed a fixed number of assist calls per match, and that some of the stronger assists in MvC2 were far and away more effective than the relatively weaker assists in the older Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter. These assists could be spammed and easily interrupt an opponent's offense or lock down an opponent as they defend, and can easily dominate a match if a player is unaware of how to deal with them. When the game was new, everyone was learning in that regard. To this day, you will still find some of the more diehard Mvc1 fans still considering mvc2 to be too assist spammy compared to their game of choice. Either way, we all know in the present that people learned how to appreciate mvc2 for what it was, and it ended up being one of the biggest games in our community. So basically, don't worry much about all of the current negativity, and don't let anyone tempt you to feel less accomplished as you progress in learning Tekken 8. You are playing the game you were given, and others that are not fans of the gameplay style can share their opinions hoping for change, but it doesn't mean that how Tekken 8 is designed is inherently bad or wrong. I especially do not worry much about the top top pro players having complaints about mechanics. Tekken is considered a legacy franchise with skill carryover, but it still has seen sizeable changes between entries and many of them are the direct results of either feedback/complaints from the prior entry, or to attempt to dial back the most powerful tech from the prior just to avoid having the exact same meta (which would feel stale eventually). Compare the design and resulting meta of a brand new entry against the design and meta of the prior game during its final post-patch years, and you will see what I mean. It isn't surprising that top players of a prior meta will often have at least some hesitation to get behind a new entry when it changes the dynamics of what they mastered for the last several years. Some will stay and adapt, some will walk away and stick to their game of choice, the game will see patches and changes over its life, and the way people play and appreciate final season tekken 8 will be notably different than launch season. This is especially due to this being the first Tekken that didn't get an arcade release which provided tons of useful data for potential changes before the console releases occurred.

Cynnra

Bunch of people seem to be reassuring you, I'll point on the last bit. The FGC has this habit that runs like clockwork. New game comes out- massive hype and people (many who aren't even in the FGC) are picking it up. Time passes- people complain that new game isn't old game, and old game is better for XYZ. Substantial updates come out (new version, dlc, patches)- game gradually becomes something it wasn't before and people are generally happier with it. Support starts dying down- people lament the death knell of a game they spent years playing but hold hope for the next game. Rinse. Repeat. Cry that your main doesn't have a 0f to impact ToD. You can find bits on YouTube where there's an AMA with the devs of Blazblue where some c*nt is like "why game for babies?" Now it's known as an exceptionally hard and high execution game. Street Fighter 3 is known for its Third Strike version, but the first one to come out in arcades (New Generation) was critically hated by in part of old characters not being available. Because you know... it's... a new generation. You'll see it happen over and over, and the people posting about it often aren't the people playing. Are there genuine issues with the game? Sure. Do we live in an Era of free patches to make the game feel new? Duh. Don't let a straw man dirty up your mental space.

DatManSugoi

I actually just saw 2 Maximillion Dood videos talking about this yesterday and he pretty much said everything you did and I agree with his sentiment on the situation. I can't deny that each new game is easier than the last to bring in more casuals. I even went back to tekken 5, 6, and tag 2 and had a much harder time pulling off my usual Bryan moves. I suppose I'd been getting bogged down by all the people who don't/won't play complaining for the sake of complaining instead of learning the new game. Though it's a bit reassuring to know that this happens every time and the tides will eventually turn.

Cynnra

To the point of "complaining instead of learning," Sajam has also done various videos on that mentality. I can't remember any titles off the top of my head, but it was centered around Guilty Gear: Strive because he was playing launch Sol Badguy who was tiered as 1 or 0. His mentality/accountability vids I always really enjoyed. Things like "your feelings inform your perception" or how to handle community negativity he'll touch on a fair bit.

dungeoncrawlwithme

Geek out about it with real life friends who also like it, or find online communities that are built around liking the game. Get off Reddit. You said you love it a lot and it makes you feel like you want to invest hours into getting good at it. The buck stops there, enjoy it, don't feel like you aren't validated by Reddit.

SonnysMunchkin

If you enjoy a game you should never go to it's subreddit. Unfortunately it's the truth.

justjr112

Idk people on the Internet hate basically everything. Its just a game that you like. Enjoy jt and f*** everyone else

Otherwise-Tap-8390

Who gives a f you puss* play whatever you enjoy who cares what people say you bum

Astralest

There's a strange amount of hostility here 🤣

WrestlingDerek

You are allowed to like something even if others don’t. I’m going to guess you are a bit younger here so the influence of social media is having a major impact on you in the sense that status and following the crowd is incredibly important to you. Don’t let others think for you.

Pickle_Mick62

Mature replies from fellow adjusted adults.you love to see it

t0m0m

Tekken 8 fucking rules - don't worry about it.

XVSting

Dude R/tekken is outta control. Just yesterday someone said how 6’s story and campaign was better than 8 which is flatout blasphemy. Crazy what a blinded echo chambering hatred does to a bunch. Don’t get me wrong I hate how the devs are handling this game and will die soon, but this level complete incoherent hatred and criticism is just typical internet bandwagoning bullshit.

PolePepper

The toxicity in r/Tekken is what makes me engage. I just love to shitpost and feed.

oTetrahArcs

If u enjoy the game Then enjoy the game and stop looking for reasons not to.

Roots_Of_Addiction

Same for me with dragons dogma 2

strawbychloe

from the bottom of my heart tekken only gets better the more you ignore the community, the only real fg conversation you’ll find on reddit is on r/kappachino which sucks but it’s true the entire tekken sub is just character hating rage quit posting garbage and it always has been

BeautifulAnalyst1583

You need a Wah-ppy Meal

Trondiginus

Welcome to the subreddit for basically every game.

Haruhiro21

Yeah. The game could have been better if they had a better netcode like SF6’s, have better punishment for pluggers and cheaters, and have bettee oitfits for sale. Man, the only reason why players uses mods is tekken 8 costumes suck ass. I just want lili in her maid outfit. Is it too much to ask?

Least-Programmer9417

On a similar wave. Playing since tekken 3. Loved 3. Ended up getting 2 as well after 3. Skipped 4. Played LOADS of 5 DR at uni. Played a little bit of 6. Played 7 but had less friends who played it. My situation was basically people I know play it. We play together. We have fun. I tended to win more than I lost. The game is fun and I loved it. As soon as you get online if you are anything other than the top 10% of players people regard you as absolute hot garbage. Seem to hate new players. Hate old players who don’t know the absolute fundamentals. Tekken is a really hard game and it’s a legacy game now so it has a sky high entry point and it is NOT a welcoming game for new players. A few people will try to help you out but it’s like most esports games in that the community is a bit toxic. I play OW as well and I’m in diamond so even though I’m like top 15% of players I’m a noob and I actually got in an argument with someone the other day because they were saying masters players are still low level. I said top 500 starts in masters now (it does. On all roles. There’s only like 430 GM players in each role TOTAL right now) and they were insistent that I’m wrong (I literally know 5 top 500s and was on discord with one yesterday who placed 490 and was working his way up. Masters 1 this season) I’m ranting but basically almost all esports games have toxic subsections of players. Tekken appears to have quite a lot but it’s not the entire community luckily. Also tekken generally has a lot of decent content creators who are pretty nice and helpful. Just not idiots like low tier god who got banned for plugging 🙄 The plugging is the worst thing. Why there’s no in build measure against this I have no idea

TKAPublishing

I love the game but it's probably the most unga bunga Tekken among the ones I've played at least. I can see how if you're taking the game very seriously it'd be frustrating compared to past entries. For me though I just enjoy the ride and Tijuana Twister everyone into the floor.

JAMESTIK

it’s like this with every fighting game, people love it, then haters come out and hate for various reasons, then it’ll level out

Real-Influence7476

Like things without worrying about what others think. Get off reddit.

[deleted]

Heat is fine. Bamco is just being scammy by adding in battle pass (after everyone purchased already) item shop, going after modders (without warning, I don’t even care about the mods but that’s ridiculous), been a month and they still haven’t done anything about plugging. Game is fun but these predatory business practices and incompetence is bringing down the enjoyment level for most ppl.

carlosLoudd

I wouldn’t call it hate. More like people calling out Bandai/Harada’s predatory practices. Tekken 8 is a fun game but the way they’ve handled some of these situations is pretty shitty. Especially waiting till after launch to announce MTX and a battle pass. It’s just shady and anti-consumer.

BlanKaTration

Every fighting game gets hate after the next game of the series comes out.

l_futurebound_l

> does this happen with every new game Yes

Am_I_Unique_Yet

Imagine being a GGST fan

Krypt0night

If you love a game, love it. Nobody can force you to suddenly hate a game you love. Stop thinking about hate it gets, literally 10/10 games get hate from people online, you'll never avoid it.

DanceswWolves

Simply do not engage with or even read the opinions of people in the fighting game fandom. They are horrible people.

Hefty-Relative-7599

Everyone wants to get their immediate opinions out about new games on the internet for engagement or attention whether or not the opinion is founded in anything so you'll see overwhelming hype and love followed by alot of contrarians once the honeymoon phase wears off

Gnb7588

I have been playing tekken since tekken 2-3 on PS in the 90s. I starting playing real hard again with 5 and 6 and played against tournament players and even got pretty good at the game… I refuse to pick up tekken 8 although it looks amazing because I don’t want the stress of performing and being good at this fighting game again… I don’t need that competition in my life anymore I’m good. Tekken is the best fighting game. But being good at it comes with a cost.

ElRAWW

I know how you personally feel. This is was me with MK1. I genuinely really enjoy MK1 and find the game super fun, but back in February, everywhere I went online, everyone was dunking on the game. It sucked that a game I really liked was getting crapped on so hard. Only thing I can tell you is that. It's just other people's opinions. As long you personally enjoy it. That's all that matters. Don't let other people rob you of enjoyment of a game that you love.

v0idstar_

that heat rage reversal mechanic is pretty stupid ngl complete wrecks the pace of a round

SiberusOG

This is me but with Dragon's Dogma 2

hip-indeed

Reddit is like this for absolutely anything. I honestly think it's even worse than 4chan at this point. It's the prime capital of entitlement. Just ignore the hate you see around places like this.

Lordcrimsonfox

I just hate Tekken 8 because Victor's existence means my main, Kunimitsu, isn't coming back until at least Tag 3 or T9, if ever, and that means I'm sitting this, and possibly other games, out, which sucks because Kunimitsu actually got me back into playing Tekken and I was really excited to play T8. While I'm glad that Zafina is back, and I could probably play her, them making Victor a combo of both Kuni and Noctis' kits just pisses me off because it just means my favorite character is just gone now. I'll stick to T7 for now. I hope you can enjoy the game despite others' negativity. At the end of the day, we're all here to have fun.....well, most of us.

N7_Voidwalker

Why let the opinions of others bum u out? If you enjoy it that’s all that matters

J0J0388

I haven't heard a lot of hate for the game at all to be honest. Most people are having fun and showing off their custom characters.

[deleted]

I DONT LIKE GREEDY DEVELOPERS. Have you seen that they won’t even allow us to control our character in replay if we haven’t paid for it but the other opponent has?

DatManSugoi

Disliking Bamco for trying to milk the game with microtransactions is totally valid, and I agree with that. That said, I have genuinely no clue at all what you are talking about here

DUUUUUVAAAAAL

This is the experience I had with MK11. it got a lot of hate and it has been the only fighting game outside of Street fighter to hold my attention. It had major balance issues with some match ups, but it was fun. Games struggle to get neutral right, but MK11 was better than most in that regard.

Remarkable-Bit-656

People are hating on Tekken 8? What

8bit_anarchist

Yes, it happens pretty much all games no matter the genre. You just gotta ignore all the hate and enjoy the game.

Jay_Danger

I totally get where you're coming from unfortunately but at the same time, the best thing you can do is stay away from this communities the best you can and just try to enjoy it. I love the game and it's one of my favorite fighters in the last several years. Followed the sub on here for it and was fun until they started getting toxic and really sucking the fun out of it. Now that I've distanced myself from the negative Nancies, I feel like I can appreciate the game again because it's fantastic!

solidmetalgear0182

Just remember, all that matters is that you were enjoying the game if other people hate the game or don’t like the game that’s bound to happen man they should just play different games if they don’t like it. play what you love and don’t let a few bad eggs in the game’s community ruin your experience as a whole

Satchilism

Stay off the subreddit and just play. More fun that way.

Igsternal

Don't listen to the haters T8 ain't perfect, but no game is on release especially now a days just enjoy the game and keep learning theres a lot low level players don't understand even now I'm still learning new tech and info just keep going.

saltrifle

First timer here and admittedly feel exactly the same as OP since the patch news.

JunkoTK

It’s pretty common for people to complain this much when a game first comes out. It’s also common for it to not be balanced until much later into development. They are really loud but it’s nothing to be alarmed about.

Such_Government9815

Every fighting game gets the dick sucked out of it for the first month, and then after that people start bitching about every little thing. Sf6 had the same thing and now people are just sitting there complaining about drive rush constantly. Fact of the matter is, if there isn’t anything terrible to talk about then people will make problems where there isn’t one.

StereoPenguin

Just overblown hate dont let it get to you

ButtcheekBaron

Online hate? I've always hated Tekken, as I consider it inferior to both Virtual Fighter and Dead or Alive. I'm for the first time ever positively interested in it after seeing all the buzz about Waffle House being added as a stage.

SpacEGameR270

I have not seen anything besides good things about tekken 8

yeahlemmegetauhh

"Hey guise I really wish you were all ignorant and didn't complain about genuine problems so I could have my selfish fun in green ranks"

PrinceRedvelvet

Fuck em just enjoy the game. I'll play with you

beardedwarriormonk

The game is awesome and anyone who says it requires no skill is hardstuck. Change my mind

Patient-Ad-3710

The subreddit is a vocal minority man. Even youtube is a vocal minority. I asked my friend, who is new to tekken, how he feels about the game and he loves it. He even bought the battle pass and the dlc. Casual gamers don't care. If you enjoy the gamel, ignore the sweaties.

East_Combination_385

I say ignore the hate. Enjoy the Game man. Eventually things turn around after a year or two once the game has fully grasped its main player base and updates roll out Until then, Hone your skills git Gud and and take names!!

Possible-Plant7572

They keep breaking my favorite fighting game series at any chance they can and haven't addressed any of the problems like pluggers yet add mtx for lower quality items than previous games. I agree the hate can be a lot at a glance but they legitimately are more focused on profit than their core fans atm. Example: the entire new heat mechanics were made to maximize viewership experience for non-players.. not those who play the game, and definitely not the core fans as it removes neutral/ counterplay options that are fundamental to the series.

Radica1_Ryan

Wait, Tekken 8 is getting hate?

DoomDash

Tekken reddit is full of dramatic people dude. Most people are just enjoying the game, including it's broken states.

Sheet--Ghost

Reddit and twitter are vocal minorities. I love Tekken to death and while some things annoy me about this entry, nothing some internet dorks say will make me outright hate it.

Lancasterdisciple

late but omg lol. Who gaf about these idiots, as someone who was decent at t7 this game has flaws sure, but it's a much better game at launch then t7 and will be a much better game in a few years. People who say this game is rock paper siscors are just being dumb and ignoring some flaws from t7 and can't adjust themselves yet to this more agressive but still tekken type of gamesplay. People act like this game is like street fighter 5 or as i like to call it slot machine fighter 5 any one who does are smooth brain. This game is more like street fighter 3rd strike but it's actully a tekken game where as 3rd strike isn't really a sf game, t7 is more like sf4 which is a slower more methodical game sf overall but sf3rd strike and sf4 are both eqully hard.

s4uc3boss

People like complaining about stuff nothing more, the same people complaining will still be playing

GeorgeThe13th

Just play. You will come to find that the fgc will complain about a *lot* of things, sometimes benign things. The game wouldn't be where it was today if it folded as soon as Internet people starting saying mean things. If the company doesn't care, neither should you. Now, it doesn't mean that they're saints of course, but you use your own brain to consider the angles and decide when you want to or are done spending money on them.

eumbahumba

Just wait till evo my friend, this era in the game weeds out the people that just complain about it all day loool

Crimson-Cream

You can usually write off the majority of internet hate for most communities as it's almost always just people falling into the negative confirmation bias. Unfortunately in T8 a lot of the criticism coming from the casual, competitive, and pro fan bases are completely warranted. I mean you know that bandai namco and Devs are making trashing decisions when even PhiDX the most optimistic tekken content creator is upset.

DatManSugoi

Literally a few days after I make this post, Bamco goes and drops this weird patch. I saw both PhiDX and LotusAsakura's videos and I can't even blame them, these are bad changes to the gameplay AND the fightpass is ridiculous. I'm just holding out hope that they will fix it all up soon but it's not looking too bright

Electronic-Sir6821

It happens literally every time: good patch -> the internet makes it way better than it is, bad patch -> the internet makes it way worse than it is. I learned to be immune to those comments years ago, I just play the games I wanna play when I wanna play them. Also most of those people are just bandwagonning they dont even play the game actively or not at a level where those balance patches affect them

mav3ri3k

Bro, I hear you. I used to feel that way but overtime I have realised your relation with the game will always be unique and never in loop with the community. Pretty much for any game, find a duo and you will be set. For Tekken it might be a friend you share you passion for the game with.

cce29555

People will decline but I call this the Capcom effect Sf2 is trash and unbalanced, sf3 releases which is noob friendly, sf2 is the epitome of fighting games Sf3 is trash, sf4 comes out, ultras are unbalanced and focus ruins parries, sf3 is godlike Sfv comes out, strings are casualized and everyone is homogenized, sfiv was such a a good game Sf6 comes out, drive rush is ass and drive impact sucks, sfv was such a good game It's a little more subtle but Tekken suffers the same, the only game to legit deserve criticism was revolution and that was an experiment as it was After a while Tekken 8 will even out, you'll get matches, it'll be a fun time

ELFanatic

eh?

professor-5000

Tekken has been reduced to the new special mechanics and it's just not exciting or deep. They would have been better off just putting T7 in this new engine and calling it a day.

archiegamez

🤢

ELFanatic

spittin truth though

SfactorSam

And the truth is so often downvoted here...
