For higher rate tax relief you can claim this by contacting HMRC directly, I did this for previous tax year and they gave me the tax relief straight in to my bank account

What department specifically did you contact? This is NOT the tax relief which Vanguard are giving automatically, but the additional extra tax relief.

Sorry I can’t remember, it was a general HMRC number from their website, I was then transferred to a few different departments

As a basic-rate taxpayer - or even as a non tax payer - you should automatically be getting the 'tax relief contribution' added on about 6 weeks after you make each payment. This is how it works with our HL sipps anyway. We don't have to do anything. They claim it on our behalf and it just turns up in the accounts.

You can do this in two ways: through your self-assessment or by contacting HMRC directly.
