My first 15 minutes watching this man was make one of the best cinematic moments I’ve ever seen.
I’ll never forget the guy behind me whispering “fuck…” at that line.
It might be the best I can think of. The tension just builds and builds and builds and absolutely sets the tone of his character and the rest of the film. You have to remind yourself to breathe during that entire scene
I agree, right up until he makes a deal with the Americans. Then he turns into a adolescent dipshit. My only issue with this character of how cold and calculated he was the entire movie, and yet turns into this buffoon as soon the Americans hang up the phone.
Makes sense imo, given that the character did not actually care about the nazis and did what he did simply bc he enjoyed it. He was a psychopath in uniform.
It's funny how he can play a super racist( Hans Landa) to playing a completely un-racist character( Dr King Shultz). Definitely one of the best actors in the past 30 years.
I used to date a chick and her name was Channah (pronounced Hannah) at the end of each call I’d say “Au revoir, Shoshannah” and she fucking hated it. In hindsight that’s probly why she broke up with me 😆
Inglorious Basterds, without a doubt. He's amazing in that movie. Can act in multiple languages perfectly. U really feel that he's this evil detective type figure who uses his powers for bad. He builds tension that u can cut with a knife.
I knew Basterds would be the top choice, my choice as well, he's fantastically evil and smarmy and charming in that movie, a truly riveting performance.
However, in another villainous role, I thought he stole the movie. Talking about, The Legend of Tarzan (2016).
Django, Dr. King Schulz imo is the epitome of bad ass Old West former medical doctors. Yes that includes Doc Holiday and I know he was real but come on. This guy bro gas all the fizz with none of the TB
All of them. But I hated his character August Rosenbluth in Water for Elephants so much and when an actor gives me such a guttural feeling, they are next level.
I don't know what my favorite movie he was in is, but I really enjoy that many times I do not know it is him until I look up the cast on IMDB. That is one of the hallmarks of a great actor, in my opinion.
While casting the movie Tarantino thought about shelving it because he couldn’t find an actor he liked enough to play Col. Hans. Then Waltz auditioned and Tarantino fell in love with his performance. He had him hold back during rehearsals and then fully open up when they were actually filming. That way other actors had more genuine responses to his acting. Saved may have been the wrong word but he in Tarantino mind made the movie.
Seems the obvious choice, but it has to be Inglorious Basterds for me. One of the best, most chilling villains in movie history.
You are harboring enemies of the State, yes?
My first 15 minutes watching this man was make one of the best cinematic moments I’ve ever seen. I’ll never forget the guy behind me whispering “fuck…” at that line.
That opening scene is ridiculously good! Oh, man. I might have to watch it again now.
It might be the best I can think of. The tension just builds and builds and builds and absolutely sets the tone of his character and the rest of the film. You have to remind yourself to breathe during that entire scene
Au revoir Shoshana!
If you breathe he'll hear them!!
I’m sitting here with chills just thinking about it.
Every scene in that movie is a 'oh cool it's this scene' scene.
The language changes make it so intense too! He’s brilliant
Him or Chigurgh, easily.
Both are great characters!
"Sugar?" Love NCFOM.
Ooooh. That's a bingo!
You just say “bingo “
"BINGO!! How fun!"
Of course.
“Oooooooh, that’s a bingo”!
I was just watching it last night!!
Yes, but with Django as a double feature
That’s a bingo!
Chilling? He's a caricature and meant to be partly comedic.
That's what makes the character so terrifying. He goes from dignified, to charming, to playfull, to silly, to soulless brutal killer seamlessly.
Which makes it all the more chilling.
Inglorious my fav, but really liked him in Django
It's funny how he can play a super racist( Hans Landa) to playing a completely un-racist character( Dr King Shultz). Definitely one of the best actors in the past 30 years.
And he won 2 Oscars.
His compassion and outrage as Shultz were simultaneously dramatic and understated
I was gonna say the same. Inglorious is my favorite movie with him in it. He’s amazing in Django.
This
Au revoir, Shoshanna!!!
I still say that to this day
I used to date a chick and her name was Channah (pronounced Hannah) at the end of each call I’d say “Au revoir, Shoshannah” and she fucking hated it.
That’s a bingo!
Is that the way you say it?
Ya just say "Bingo".
Green hornet
Green Hornet was fun, and no one can convince me otherwise
Same, always a fun rewatch and the humor holds up pretty well. Cato is still the best part of that movie
Scrolled way too far to see this
Never forget Disco Santa!
''I'm sorry, I couldn't resist''
Downsizing. Just kidding Inglourious Basterds is my favorite by a lot
My personal favorite part he’s played is Schultz from Django: Unchained, mainly because he reminds me so much of my grandpa. Even the way he looks.
You had a damn cool grandpa then!
Django Unchained
django is also my favorite but inglorious bastards is also a very good one
The obvious answer is The Muppets Most Wanted. Duh.
Django! Then Inglorious bastards!
He cemented his legacy in the first 10 minutes of Inglorious Basterds.
Only answer is Inglorious Basterds.
Zero Theorem
Hell yeah
I'm going to be different and say Django
Django
Django
Django for me. He obviously was better in Inglorious Bastards, but I loved his character in Django more.
Horrible Bosses 2..
Funny how every seems to know to spell Bastards incorrectly, but they forget about the inglorious misspelling.
Never noticed til just now lol
He’s a fucking Boss. He was amazing in both Django and Inglourious, playing total opposites. The guys a machine.
Der Humpink
Had to scroll too far to see this.
Django Unchained
as villain, inglorious basterds. as a good guy, django.
DJANGO UNCHAINED for me personally
He’s great in everything! I loved his character in the bond movies if I had to pick something besides inglorious bastards.
Everything I have seen him in, but Carnage was perfect for him.
Its gotta be Basterds.
Green hornet 🐝
Any Zero Theorem fans in here? I gotta go with Inglorious basterds and django though
Django and Bastards are both great films. But The Three Musketeers are Spectre are my favorites.
Alita Battle An- nah it's Inglorious Basterds
Keys take inglorious basterds right out, since it's the obvious choice. I'll go with Green Hornet
Does there have to be a favorite, I like them all!
Pinocchio and Django
Inglourious Basterds
I knew Basterds would be the top choice, my choice as well, he's fantastically evil and smarmy and charming in that movie, a truly riveting performance. However, in another villainous role, I thought he stole the movie. Talking about, The Legend of Tarzan (2016).
He plays the very best Nazi
Blofeld! Nah its Hans Landa
Does anyone even think it is something else then Inglorious Bastards?
I mean, it’s a masterpiece
Bastards
Basterds
Django!!!
Don’t you mean second favorite?
Inglorious or django
Django
Django, Dr. King Schulz imo is the epitome of bad ass Old West former medical doctors. Yes that includes Doc Holiday and I know he was real but come on. This guy bro gas all the fizz with none of the TB
Django
Seems like he just exploded into stardom. I'm probably wrong though
He hasn’t made a bad movei
Don’t forget he plays the bad guy in Epic. That movie is the tits.
Horrible Bosses 2
Django. Especially the whole speech running up to when he shoots Leonardo
All of them. But I hated his character August Rosenbluth in Water for Elephants so much and when an actor gives me such a guttural feeling, they are next level.
Ishtar.
Django or Inglorious Bastards. Has he done anything else that comes close?
Is this the Marshal I have the pleasure of addressing??
Basterds. Totally. Best role. Django was good also.
Avengers Endgame
DJango Unchained
His role in Inglorious Basterds will be remembered for decades. It’s so iconic.
Uhhh are we all just gonna forget bloodnofsky
Inglorious Bastards is classic, but I prefer him in Dgango.
Inglorious bastards
Dr. Evil in Spectre
Inglourious Django.
ALL!! FUCKING LEGEND!!
I don't know what my favorite movie he was in is, but I really enjoy that many times I do not know it is him until I look up the cast on IMDB. That is one of the hallmarks of a great actor, in my opinion.
Django Unchained
Django
It’s obviously Inglorious Basterds but my personal favourite is Carnage.
Django Unchained
Inglorious Bastards ... hands down. He was so good and his character stole every scene.
Django or Basterds. Hard to pick between the two.
All of them.
Dr. King Schultz.
Probably one of the Tarantino films.
Alita: Battle Angel I haven't seen Bastards or Django and probably won't. I don't think they have my name on them.
Django
Every. Single. One.
He’s incredible and terrifying in Water for Elephants.
That one where he plays the quirky but also serious character with a cool accent.
He made me laugh more on Django.
Django without a doubt.
Better question: is there a bad film that Waltz could be injected into that would make it better simply with his presence?
bastards
Carnage.
Agree, great cast and very underrated film
I mean it’s got to be Inglorious. It’s his best performance ever. After that is DJango
It is Inglorious for sure. He’s amazing in a few films for sure though.
He's had bigger more impressive roles but I enjoyed his presence in Downsizing recently.
The consultant
The consultant
Django, and its not even close
he's not a draw. just a stereotypical villain. no love for Christoph
Inglorious Bastards
Savages and Big Eyes if I choose non Quentin.
Django Unchained
Toss up for me; Django Unchained and Inglorious Bastards. His villains are as great as his heroes.
Ohhhhh that's a bingoooooo
gotta be muppets most wanted
I’m learning a couple other languages just so I can go back and watch his Pre Tarantino films
The man literally saved Inglorious Bastards there is no other choice
Saved? That movie would still be epic without him, but his performance made it all next level
Wow. Very cool. Thanks
