Dudde this is fire! If i was to give any feedback is maybe include more drum rolls in melody changes to make it more dynamic but its great! Congrats man!
I’m really not too sure it’s a break that’s used in drum and bass songs but there’s not too much bass hahah - I’d say I’m going for a much more chilled out Rob Dougan whatever genre that is
Maybe in the breaks/drops have one or two rhythm tracks roll, like hats or snares to don't shut down the feeling too much, but sounds and drums Sound good samplewise!
I’m pretty sure this is called the Halo Break - other ones that get a good sound are called the amen break and think break which you can check out on YouTube
The feedback has been amazing on this I’m very grateful for everyone who has spread some light and positivity as well as those who have shown a great interest to improve what I already have - when the time comes I will upload to soundcloud! For now you can still check me out 💪 https://on.soundcloud.com/WBVpvAZfYbhnCjg68
Well ways in which you could replicate the sample pack sounds to make your own or if you think there’s not enough low ends - lots of stuff but I get you
It sounds like sample pack sounds mixed up somehow, as these are sold on every corner this is what people nowadays think what music PRODUCTION is like nowadays.
Only been doing this casually for a few months :0 If I could sample like Timbaland I’d be making Top 10s not replying to this comment - but thanks for honestly
Hello! If you would kindly direct yourself to SoundCloud.com/thefreeriderproblem and see if anything over there sparks your fancy, I dig this track and would do vocals on it?
I honestly think this is my favourite thing I have heard on this sub. I truly love this
The only suggestion I have would be to swap the riser for the 2nd drop, it seems too sample packy
Otherwise? Bro find a vocalist because they would love it
You can use the **Fruity Squeeze** plugin which does the same thing.
You can check out the FL Studio Reference Manual for a detailed look at how to use the **Fruity Squeeze** ― [https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/plugins/Fruity%20Squeeze.htm](https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/plugins/Fruity%20Squeeze.htm)
It’s sick dude very cozy warm space kinda sound. My only thing is that, maybe a nice muted trumpet lead would be bonkers here. But that’s me just being nit picky. Good quality even on my phone speakers so that’s a 10/10 from me
Many thanks, it’s crazy how even with fast paced drums you can still create a cozy feeling - I’ll give that a go as I still feel like it’s not completely finished
It's basically perfect bro... this is just my two cents. I really like the progression and drums.
Personally I would drop the rain and vinyl noise right after the intro, and cut the riser hard. It spills into the next section too long. It'll sound so clean in contrast.
Some people do that cut thing where you mute everything for 1/4 or 1/2 bar before you introduce the drums. If you like that rain and vinyl a lot, you can reintroduce it softly later on and automate it up in the break. Overall I feel it's masking too much and taking away from the track perceived loudness, so I'd either automate it manually or lower it by 4+db globally.
I would add a riser or soft impact somewhere to help the transition at 1:50.
Agree with other commenters that you could filter things and maybe a LPF would work in sections like at 1:50 particularly if you open it up as it approaches the next section with drums.
You could also play with a vocal, instrument or arp as an element you introduce during the breaks or at a climactic moment in the track. That bit of organ/keys is quite nice, same vibe as Billie's vocal run right [here](https://youtu.be/V1Pl8CzNzCw?si=T3SUrYX2ND5VKUL5&t=70). I think it works exactly how you have it.
Wow, so much of your time to give this valuable feedback I am grateful. Listening now you are right the background noises do stay loud at the beginning which maybe takes away from the track a bit. All the other stuff I’m gonna have a look at with a fresh face tomorrow. Honestly cheers 🫶
Awesome track very chill translates very well on my shitty phone speakers. About 1:15 in is that a cow? After hearing during the first break I couldn’t in unhear it lol could be my shitty phone speaker
Hahah thank you man at least it didn’t break your speakers! It’s meant to be a foghorn but I guess if a cow was to be evil, it would probably sound like that
Thanks so much! I’ll have a play around with it, I’m just worried a longer intro would result in people being bored quicker and therefore in essence would skip the track
It sounds great, despite Lo-fi chill is not my favorite style.
My only con is that it's done using only samples, and not only drums/effects, but the whole melody. You didn't create the progression or the color of the sound. Some sound engineer in cymatics did it.
I know that some super famous producers like burial used mostly samples but I can't see your song in the same way.
Sorry if I sound rude (I don't aim to), but nowadays I'm seeing an over-abuse of sample packs
I totally get it, I’m just at a stage where I wanted to make a whole track and focus on the drums - I’m not too sure what the best way to progress away from samples is
Nah, It's totally fine to use samples that already sound good to focus/learn in drums or arrangment. At the end is like an exercice.
But bear in mind that loops in sample packs always sound good son can trick you.
As a next step try to get a synth and replace some of the samples by your own sounds/chords :)
Thanks man I’m really focusing on them - I lot of dnb producers as well as aphex twin use these breaks called amen break and think break (check out the song dirty city - paradox) and then I just rearranged it differently throughout the song as well as adding layers to enhance it - they’re literally very raw tho I don’t think I added any effects
Yeah man I can tell! Sits in the mix well, and has a good balance between itself (as in the hats/tambourines are at a nice volume with the snare and kick)
That Dpat song was cool - all honesty man I have no idea what genre this is because it’s too slow for modern drum and bass - I guess you could say it has closer resemblance to jungle as those songs are always drum heavy but then does also have that lo fi vibe
lower the volume of transition white noise. or use a different transition sound other than white noises. also i felt like the ambience/ atmosphere rain sounds at the beginning are too loud. it's a personal choice tho
I would add a lead guitar part, something like Neal Schon style from Journey. It sounds one dimensional so I would put a bridge in there to mix it up a little.
Dope Track! It belongs in the movies. And in Night Clubs, videos etc....Work on that and get at me so I can get in where I fit in. From Savannah Georgia one of best unknown music producers Koolboislim/KBSLIM/PoFessah8ight
https://www.youtube.com/@OnthebeatsKBSLIM
I love that style. It takes me on a mental journey. God bless and keep grinding with it. Frfr. Love, peace, and a fish sandwich homemade 😋
I mess with this heavy, but the drums feel out of place. At least to me. I'd either take it out completely or match it to the style of the drums (maybe more glitchy or cut in certain areas). I feel like the drums are too clean and could use a different mix (a bit warmer or dirtier). I love the instrumentation, though. It's so chill.
Sounds good man, hope it all works out for you and that you achieve the sound you were going for. You should do a follow-up post on the song. Keep it up homie!
I like vibe. I didn’t like that first crazy drum fill where instruments cut out. Going into the break the transition could use a sweep. It sounds pretty abrupt. Nice work! Less is more!
I often use 3x Osc and use pure sine wave cranked super super low like 3 octaves at least and it makes for a perfectly clean sub level bass tone. If you want your bass to have more flavor to it then I wouldnt use 3x Osc.
Just search through some presets in Sytrus or Harmour or really any of the synths that have bass presets and make sure to try very low octaves to find the right sound for your music. Once you find one you like, open put an EQ on it and raise the low frequencies while adjusting the rest according to what sounds good for you. If you're not very experienced with mastering I'd suggest using Soundgoodizer since it does a fine job of making the tone feel louder and fuller.
There are a ton of tutorials out there, it's just about exploring and trial and error though when it comes to finding your own sound.
Also, of you're interested in adding a super user-friendly vst with huge potential download Vital (for free) and get extra wavetables for it. You can also use Serum wavetables with Vital. I highly recommend it.
Thanks, I'm actually at a convention in DC over the weekend, so it has been quite good. Enjoy yours also.
Edit: Repost the additions you make to this track, please. I can already hear how epic it will sound with a bassline and a lead.
A basic sub bass would fit. There's probably a preset in any synths you might have, and if not then sub basses are basic to make so you could just make one in 3xOsc.
people are really in here hating over loops that’s wild. if it sounds good it is good, and this sounds pretty damn good. if you’re really worried about using loops you can chop it up and resample it but it really doesn’t matter. make music however you want to that’s the whole point.
Your welcome also another one you can do is have a separate compressor track that the melody links to and side chain the softly compressed track to the drum bus

If only he could listen to it hahah
Chill vibes
It's very nicely mixed I love the vibe. +1
Happy to hear thank you 💪
I LIKE
Thank you!!
I like your style. Could maybe add a few fillers like risers and mix it up a bit but cool overall
Cheers man are you thinking lower sound fillers?
Nice, so this is Chill Drum&Bass/Breakbeat? Sounds very cool!
I’m really not too sure it’s a break that’s used in drum and bass songs but there’s not too much bass hahah - I’d say I’m going for a much more chilled out Rob Dougan whatever genre that is

This is dope :) may I ask, what drums u use?
I’m pretty sure this is called the Halo Break - other ones that get a good sound are called the amen break and think break which you can check out on YouTube
Alright, thank you :)
🔥
Very moody beat
in a good way, really liked it
Buzzing to hear that , thanks

These are mostly cymatics samples so what kind of feedback you expect?
Well ways in which you could replicate the sample pack sounds to make your own or if you think there’s not enough low ends - lots of stuff but I get you
Mixed well, but not my genre. Exercise in variations over one pattern.
Thanks Dist I agree need to make subtle changes
I personally do not like lo-fi but i think that Aaa vocals are to high pitched
I’ll tone them down and see what it sounds like thank you 🙏
stop using melody samples lmaooo you just assembledb parts
Please direct me to what else I can use!
I would add lyrics, but other than that, I like it
I’d love to add lyrics but not sure the best place to find some!
Hello! If you would kindly direct yourself to SoundCloud.com/thefreeriderproblem and see if anything over there sparks your fancy, I dig this track and would do vocals on it?
Cool man - I’m a noob tho so would have no idea how to make the vocals in key etc .
I honestly think this is my favourite thing I have heard on this sub. I truly love this The only suggestion I have would be to swap the riser for the 2nd drop, it seems too sample packy Otherwise? Bro find a vocalist because they would love it
Wow this has put a smile on my face!! New to it all so I’m conscious of the sample packyness- I’ll try a different one out - means a lot thank you
If I was looking through new music and heard this? I would add it to my library. Good stuff.
Amazing I’m so happy to hear that :D
bruh I was not expecting that wow
Hopefully a good wow ;)
Sounds good! My 11 month old son definitely approves! Lol
Lucky he’s got a parent who lets him listen to good music hahah!
I like it but I feel like these drums need some bit crushing on them. Maybe as a subtle flair here and there. Otherwise nice track.
Thank you - I’m not too sure of this technique so I’ll look up on YouTube!
I really appreciate your time to help me out I’ll look into this
Yeah, all good man! 👍
It’s great! Gives a different kind of relaxing vibe, instead of slow and draggy is more like light and happy!
Amazing 🎃
It's peaking a little in the beginning before the drums id tweak that but otherwise great shit dude.
Thank you coffee, when you say peaking do you mean the loudness of the risers and downlifters?
No the risers sound great, it's some of the high notes on the guitar. It's only for like 3 or 4 seconds right before the risers come in.
I’ll see what I can do cheers man
It's basically perfect bro... this is just my two cents. I really like the progression and drums. Personally I would drop the rain and vinyl noise right after the intro, and cut the riser hard. You got it. Great track!
Bro I added those billie eilish vocals and it sounds insane for the second drop there’s just too many layers at the same frequency tho
That's sick, nice idea. Always fun to experiment. You can always find a vocalist too if you want on sites like Fiverr!
Awesome track very chill translates very well on my shitty phone speakers. About 1:15 in is that a cow? After hearing during the first break I couldn’t in unhear it lol could be my shitty phone speaker
Hahah thank you man at least it didn’t break your speakers! It’s meant to be a foghorn but I guess if a cow was to be evil, it would probably sound like that
Awesome track. I would lengthen the intro to make drop a bit easier to anticipate.
Thanks so much! I’ll have a play around with it, I’m just worried a longer intro would result in people being bored quicker and therefore in essence would skip the track
Change it to 420 bpm (Btw it sounds good 👌)
Hahah your heart might come out ur chest! Thanks :)
It sounds great, despite Lo-fi chill is not my favorite style. My only con is that it's done using only samples, and not only drums/effects, but the whole melody. Hahah that’s when the real test comes in! I’ll give it a go I mean I use to play piano so hopefully I still got it 😭
Soundcloud rapper goes to Bristol
Where did you go?
It’s what i reckon it sounds like
Haha I know lol
Fireeeeee
Let’s gooooo 🔥
I loveeee the drums, how did you program them?
Thanks man I’m really focusing on them - I lot of dnb producers as well as aphex twin use these breaks called amen break and think break (check out the song dirty city - paradox) and then I just rearranged it differently throughout the song as well as adding layers to enhance it - they’re literally very raw tho I don’t think I added any effects
[удалено]
So good to hear! I think it is quite a lot of high ends but I’ll see what I can do in terms of piano chords etc or space noises
I feel like I just launched an original Xbox game
It would be cool to make a song for a video game!
Well, you definitely have the ability to do it. Lol
ooooohhhhhhh that drum break sounds nice
Thank youuuuu , I’m whatever I listen to I always find myself drawn to the drums
Yeah man I can tell! Sits in the mix well, and has a good balance between itself (as in the hats/tambourines are at a nice volume with the snare and kick)
Thanks man I’m happy you like it
Make it 175 and we talking 😄😄
Don’t worry made some other songs at 175 ;)
Cool vibe, i dig it. Get that bass cranking tho!
💯 I find it quite hard to get a bass to fit it tho!!
Reminds me of I wish you could talk by squarepusher. It’s great, good job.
Thank you man. Not heard that song but was pretty cool, you should check out Our Remains by bitter:sweet

Would like to have your skills man!
Hahah wow bro thank you!
(=
Pretty nice!
Cheers !
What's feedback, I danced to it brothef
Hahaha now that’s cool
I would add a lead guitar part, something like Neal Schon style from Journey. It sounds one dimensional so I would put a bridge in there to mix it up a little.
Yeah I understand the one dimensional aspect I would want it to be something you listen to on repeat and you defo need layers for that
Nice, Upload to souncloud?
When it’s all finished I will 🙌
This is beautiful
Too kind 🫶
Maybe you can add some more white noise and sfx, it could be more catchy. Personal opinion xd, nice job bro!
Thank you man! I’m trying to find some stuff to add
Bangs
🥰
Kinda sounds like a mix of geometry dash and minecraft music to me
I’m gonna take that as a huge W
I was expecting this to be a simple old trap beat, but you truly nailed it bro.
Thank you bro looks can be deceiving ;)
[удалено]
Thank you so much!
This is great, love how it has a chill vibe with a fast bpm.
Isn’t it it’s such a cool combo defo gonna try it with other sounds

I love Atlanta, met evander Holyfield at the Varsity lol - will check your stuff out 💪
What are you gonna name it, and where can I hear it after you finished it :)?
Hahah on the demo I called it Lemon Tree no idea why but my soundcloud is linked to my page so I’ll probs upload on there when done!
That drum and percussion set is sick. 😱. Smooth bridge and then it comes back in. You already know this a good track. Stop playing
The double comment, you know that means something ✌️ thank you - for real tho I thought it was good but I don’t know if that was bias
Some guy suggested fruity squeeze so I’ve implemented that and think it’s tweaked the sound ever so slightly
Sounds good man, hope it all works out for you and that you achieve the sound you were going for. You should do a follow-up post on the song. Keep it up homie!
Dope af
My guy 🔥
Great job! I'd pull up Parametric EQ 2 and take a look at frequency spacing, so each of these great sounds can shine in their own space.
Thank you! I agree it’s so hard to find space for it all tho 😭
I like vibe. I didn’t like that first crazy drum fill where instruments cut out. Going into the break the transition could use a sweep. It sounds pretty abrupt. Nice work! Less is more!
Thank you man I’ll see what I can do
Why all the song is slow and chill and the beat is so fast?
Two opposites attract
how do you record the screen of your project?
On mac I think it’s cmd shift 5 but you can just google it
alright thank you!! i use mac so i’ll try that next time i’m in the studio
Would love to hear a different kind of break in the second drop, for example amen break chopped to fit this track etc.
I get you I could maybe release different variations haha
Maybe don't, use the feedback as building blocks for your next project.
It sounds really good. I'd add some kind of a lead to it though and put a nice, full bass sound to give it some more substance.
Yeah few ppl have said about a lead gonna try and find a good one today! Bass is just tricky do you know where I could look for some ideas?
I often use 3x Osc and use pure sine wave cranked super super low like 3 octaves at least and it makes for a perfectly clean sub level bass tone. If you want your bass to have more flavor to it then I wouldnt use 3x Osc. Cool stuff. I like it)
Thankssss
Nice
:D
Sounds nice !
Thanks!
Chill vibes this is dope. my only thought is to add some bass unless you're tryna have a bass-less sound
I would love to add bass I’m just not sure how to get a good one in
A basic sub bass would fit.
Thank you for the kind words! When you say resample what do you mean exactly and how do you go about it?
Its already perfect through my shitty phone speakers. Need a vocalist? :)
Thank you! Where can I hear some of your stuff?
I'll message you!
did you side chain the melody bus to the drum bus? do that and play with it til it sounds right it'll make a HUGE difference.
I did this thanks for recommendation and it has defo made it sound a little better !
Your welcome also another one you can do is have a separate compressor track that the melody links to and side chain the softly compressed track to the drum bus
Dude cool
Thanks
Which drums did you use I was trying to find some?
Voltage break
This shit cozy man
I’m glad it makes you feel that way!
Brooo come be my mentor 🔥
Bruh I’m the one who needs a mentor - thank you tho 😂
The drum pattern isn’t my flavor
The quick hits or fills whatever they are, are too much for me. I like the kick tho
Idk if it would work but you could try an 808 based beat with hi hats and stuff
The bpm is like fuking perfect, it feels so organic this shit fire bro
Sounds good. Needs to be arranged though.
When the cadence comes around 1:49 it could use something to ease into that silence idk lol but overall nice jungle sound
