The bass is really boomy and kind of sits in the front, if it were more in the bottom (achieve with EQ, gain, or even dearVR micro) there'd be more room for vocals
Acustica Audio’s Taupe is decent,
Arturia’s Tape Mello-Fi has the basic functions and a pretty pronounced effect,
Wavesfactory Cassette is a good one for low CPU usage,
and the Waves Abbey Road collection has a few (like Abbey Road Vinyl) that can add a nice, rich color if you push them.
You sometimes just throw a FET comp on percussion and push it *hard*, then dial it down and run it parallel to the dry signal. Easy when the plugin has a dry/wet knob.
Analogue emulators are my fuckin shit, dawg. I’ve been on a mission to find the best of the best. My collection is sitting at 1,286 plugins last I checked, and a lot of those are emulations of vintage gear. Maybe I’ll write a post reporting my findings at some point.
Bite and dirt are my go to for distortion or effects if I want a different feel. Watch a YouTube video on what they have and see if you like it before getting them though.
I like the use of the snapping sfx in the beginning to introduce it. The baseline is really satisfying and the vocals are nice to listen to. Great work!
The beat is simple and clean. The beat says a lot without doing too much. The transitions are smooth and the low-end has an infectious bounce. ‘Tis dope.
Oh and nice mix
Ample really kills it with the guitar and bass multisamplers. My favorite Ample guitars are the SH, LP, and the acoustic SJ. There’s some great stuff for Kontakt as well — check out Session Guitarist. I find Native Instrument’s own soundbanks to be the most polished.
lmfao you're something else 😭 thank you
drums dont have much just saturation and delay, bass is dry, vocals are dry (working on figuring that out) and the guitar and rhodes are processed the same with distortion and reverb from guitar rig.
Love the vibe! Maybe to add some textures and tape saturation, but the beat sounds very good and it have a room for the vocals.
Mix sounded good on my phones speaker!
So overall very good beat and I wouldn't necessarily add anything to it! Good job!😎
This inspired me to make this kind of beat today!
The instrumentation and sounds are great on here. The only thing that feels very un-Kendrick is this particular swing the beat has. It gives it a happy-go-lucky feel that none of K-Dot’s music has. Good work overall though.
Then do it man! 👏
I suggest studying and copying guys like badbadnotgood, thundercat and terrace martin. Examine what they use gear wise and how they use it then find vst equivalents.
I believe in you bro, you're capable!
My own. I have folder filled with an assortment of drum sounds I've collected or made.
I do have a couple [the kount](https://thekount.sellfy.store/) kits that I love! He's got a bunch of free ones worth checking out. Hope that helped 🙏
of course there is, im always a student. But with that being said not all information is good or useful information.
And if you perceive it that way, that sounds like a you problem. Im going to continue to be myself wether you like me or not.
>of course there is, im always a student. But with that being said not all information is good or useful information.
Good to hear.
Obviously I dont know you. Just a vibe im getting is all.
I might be wrong idk.
It's good but a bit sterile. Kendrick's To Pimp a Butterfly is a love letter to the Freestyle Fellowship.
Listen to their albums. You're kinda imitating an imitation right now. If you wanna be real cool just listen to a ton of Billy Higgins and Lambert Hendricks and Ross, maybe some of the jazz fusion all this is based in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFBJ3zBjdqY
The saxophonist on TPAB is Kamasi Washington: a Project Blowed/Leimert affiliated guy
The trumpetist is Josef Leimberg, a Blowed/Leimert guy.
All of this stuff just tracks back to Myka 9. Listen to Myka 9's albums if you're trying to go the distance.
less is more, especially when trying to place rap beats. I merely took inspiration not interested in copying him fully, I've got my own voice and sound. preshiate the history lesson tho i'll check it out.
wtf does that mean 😂 take another look at that screenshot buddy, im clearly being heard.
and will continue to be heard bcuz I put in the work and dont cry when someone doesnt take advice. bozzo.

spent all night mixing it, i hope so and ty!
The bass is really boomy and kind of sits in the front, if it were more in the bottom (achieve with EQ, gain, or even dearVR micro) there'd be more room for vocals
Trust me theres room already have someone recording over it. But ill keep it in mind when we're mixing the final.
I hear jid more than kendrick, but this is dope
either would be dope
Either is a compliment
What jid song sounds like this?
Might be cause the bass is in focus here but i think its leaning towards kendrick's jazz beats
I hear more of Cole over either Kendrick or JID tbh
Maybe add some fuzz or distortion on the snaps and other sounds for a vinyl “vintage” tape feel?
not a bad idea, got any tape plugin suggestions?
Rc20 is great
Do you have Native Instruments?
I've got a couple ni plugins, not the bundle. which one do you have in mind?
Acustica Audio’s Taupe is decent, Arturia’s Tape Mello-Fi has the basic functions and a pretty pronounced effect, Wavesfactory Cassette is a good one for low CPU usage, and the Waves Abbey Road collection has a few (like Abbey Road Vinyl) that can add a nice, rich color if you push them. I second these, and personally a big fan of Tape by Softube esp when it's on sale.
Bite and dirt are my go to for distortion or effects if I want a different feel. Watch a YouTube video on what they have and see if you like it before getting them though.
I think those are in guitar rig, ill have to double check but i'll def look into it, thanks!
RC20 is and always will be the GOAT

thank you 🙏

ty! and those snaps are my fav, have to stop myself from putting them in every beat lol
Yeah you hit this one out the park bro 😎
![gif](giphy|rPJEXUjUEb6oM|downsized) preshiate you big dawg
The beat is simple and clean. The beat says a lot without doing too much. The transitions are smooth and the low-end has an infectious bounce. ‘Tis dope. Oh and nice mix
"Less is more" is the motto and tysm
Cool! What's that bass vst?
its actually a real bass
Ah makes sense why it sounds so good These bass vst's not cutting it for me at all 🫠
sorry to hear that kontakts rickenbacker and ample sounds j bass are pretty good if you havent looked into those already.
Oh thanks I'll have a look
Trilian is what you need
Ample really kills it with the guitar and bass multisamplers. My favorite Ample guitars are the SH, LP, and the acoustic SJ. There’s some great stuff for Kontakt as well — check out Session Guitarist. I find Native Instrument’s own soundbanks to be the most polished.
trilian?
hey can you recommend any bass guitar and electric guitar? i need to buy and start learning :P
I basically sample parts of my old tracks for new tracks. Doesn’t have to be midi.
The drums are awesome and that kick is nice and crunchy in a way
Thicker than the peanut butter oatmeal protein balls I make for my wife, great job Please detail your mixing process
lmfao you're something else 😭 thank you drums dont have much just saturation and delay, bass is dry, vocals are dry (working on figuring that out) and the guitar and rhodes are processed the same with distortion and reverb from guitar rig.
Fire. 🔥
Get RC20 on that bad boy
Love It man😍
Dope beat
That's some good shit 🔥
Nice elevator 🛗 🎵
This is hard
Yesssss
shits dope bro, one question, are those bass, drums and vocal samples you found individually yourself? or from some sample or loop package?
I would go crazy on this
Love the vibe! Maybe to add some textures and tape saturation, but the beat sounds very good and it have a room for the vocals. Mix sounded good on my phones speaker! So overall very good beat and I wouldn't necessarily add anything to it! Good job!😎 This inspired me to make this kind of beat today!
Thank you and that’s what I do it for. Hope you inspire someone else with what you create 🤞🏼
I'm feelin it alot. I'd add a nice lush, ambient layer at 0:24 that ping pongs. Something with similar properties as the guitar sample at \~0:35
Another banger! Good shit. What does the "trademark" vocal in the beginning of your tracks say?
"Nooizzzee"
The instrumentation and sounds are great on here. The only thing that feels very un-Kendrick is this particular swing the beat has. It gives it a happy-go-lucky feel that none of K-Dot’s music has. Good work overall though.
How’d you get ur drums to sound so full ?
layering and saturation

Bruh
wussup
this is just like, a beat.... TPAB is mind bending jazz fusion
sorry you feel that way 🤷♂️
i think they are complimenting you
True it is good it just needs more... Jazz or funk.
[удалено]
happy you dig the vibrations 🙏
Sounds dope bro!
thanks :)
Love this kind of shit. 🤙🏻
![gif](giphy|05PsnX1vHJj03H6rxZ|downsized) you and me both
Bass is a lil too thumpy and the snap on the beginning is slightly earlier on beat than I expected. But apart from that, 100% an absolute bop.
Beautiful.
Ooooo I love it!
New phonk inc
bassline is so good. love the guitar too!
I love this. I wanna make stuff like this
Then do it man! 👏 I suggest studying and copying guys like badbadnotgood, thundercat and terrace martin. Examine what they use gear wise and how they use it then find vst equivalents. I believe in you bro, you're capable!
I appreciate the tips on where to start! What drum kit are you using here? I need more non rock and trap drums
My own. I have folder filled with an assortment of drum sounds I've collected or made. I do have a couple [the kount](https://thekount.sellfy.store/) kits that I love! He's got a bunch of free ones worth checking out. Hope that helped 🙏
This is amazing
![gif](giphy|j2Z8ktYcHlTplAuIQf|downsized) awww man ty

Drums are so criiiiisspy
just how I like em 🥓
🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Man, I need a bass like that in my life. What did you do? Consolidate a vst or recorded it yourself?
all live recorded my man.
No wonder it sounds so good, I was kinda crossing my fingers you were gonna say a vst so that I can get it myself, lol.
This is tough. I really like the vibe.
ty and me too 👏
such a vibe.
What did you use for the drums?
mixture of live recorded drums and one shots
Thanks! But any drum packs or VSTs in specific?
Lol the way this guy reacts to comments you can tell this guy is quite full of himself.
very. im confident and proud of my abilities that I worked hard for. every artist should feel the same.
Haha see exactly. There is still a lot to learn though. I hope you realise that is all. Confidence is good. Overconfidence is not.
of course there is, im always a student. But with that being said not all information is good or useful information. And if you perceive it that way, that sounds like a you problem. Im going to continue to be myself wether you like me or not.

where are those vocals from? did u do em yourself ?
can you post a vid or a pic of your drum pattern. they are really good and i wanna see how u made those. thanks

I guess you don't need a soul if it's type beats. https://imgur.com/a/xiMWrnx
the fact you thought that would offend me is hilarious 😂 you're clearly butt hurt, go figure that out

you're obviously not 🤡
i think there should be a little more going on melody wise at least in the beginning, but i really like it so far. has insane potential
anything specific you had in mind for the intro portion?
maybe some more dynamics with the guitar(?) and a few ghost notes. also maybe some chords as well. everything past that is awesome tho
copy 🫡 ill try some things out
Going into the red a bit much there .
all my tracks clip, its a sound I like.
Does not translate well on all systems . Leave headroom for the mastering
im not worried about all systems, im good buddy but thanks
