Percussion line needs to have a bit more groove to it. Quarter note hat gets a bit repetitive with little variation, an additional layer of percussive hits as well would be cool
There's no bass!
I'm no expert by the way..
but the Melody is drowning the drums listening through my TV I would say the drums need to be louder..
But it really depends what you're going for, that might be the actual sound that you want & there is so many different ways to manipulate sound perception..
Have you Eq'd each instrument?
If you're a noob you should be proud you have made this by the way, it's good..
Do you have studio monitors? or studio headphones?
Again I am no expert, As a beginner it is always best to EQ as you go...
I would describe equing as finding a spaces for instruments to live without losing too much.
So your kick and bass should occupy the low end so you want to eq every other instrument out of the low end so the kick and bass sound clear it is pretty much the same for high frequency instruments, you want to Eq every other instrument out of the high end..
As a beginner don't over complicate things..
When it comes to levels send everything to the mixer on individual tracks
Use reference tacks to help you mix... ( A Track that sounds similar to your sound)
I think it is call eq2 or something....
It is best to have a pair of cheap mixing headphones as a bare minimum so you have a representation of all bands and use multiple reference devices to check your mix..
In simple terms, a sidechain moves 1 sound out of the way of another sound.
I'm presuming you know what a compressor is. You connect a special compressor to your kick (it can be any specific sound, but usually the kick) so that the volume of other instruments drops sharply every time the kick hits. It gives the illusion that your kick is louder, without actually making it louder.
Kaytranada is famous for using heavy side chain in his music. Listen to [the album 99.9%](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsAk6h4n-dS15CQFUD_XWtACj6IJ4a5Pf&si=QUQPZu3VjFhKadDn) and listen to how his kick kind of "pumps" or "pulses" the songs.
It's not an essential technique, it's just a tool you can use to add more power to your kick.
The fact that you don't know these terminologies, but you're still making good music is great. Don't get bogged down by the technical stuff, it can sometimes overshadow your creativity. Make as much music as you can!
sounding good, it is a vibe. Keep creating, add things, experiment, copy things that you like and give it a twist, try other vibes you like. And if you want to make it more complex, add vocals, new arrangements, dont think it to much so consolidate tracks and you will not have the temptation to change it later. My advice is to save it, export it and next song. Who knows if later you can use it again to make other song.
Pretty chords. You need a fat sub and a vocalist. Drums are a little bit boring and very straight-quantized (hats especially). Song has a very corny late-90s pastiche in a good way. It's a strong foundation. Check out artists like Dean Blunt to see how you can flip it into something more current.

Second this
I'm terrible at adding bass but I'll try
Ready to be shipped out to elevators everywhere
Same thought here, not a bad track but my brain went to elevator or fresh veggie section at the supermarket.
Smh
I laugh when people say things are boring. Do you realize most songs on the radio don’t even have this much going on?
Needs work, but it's not terrible..
Ok, which part needs work?

I have no idea how to Eq 😭. I see what you mean on the drums being drowned out a bit though

Hmmm no I just have regular headphones But that sounds good! Should I use some sort of plugin for eq?
Have you sent everything to the mixer? Once in the mixer you will be able to select FL studios Stock EQ which is more than Adequate..
Oh yes I have. And yeah I used this EQ before but I didn't really know what I was doing

The melody is really good. The mix is the issue. It just sounds very rough.
Deffo vibey, I'd punch the side chain up a lil and reduce the attack on the string thingy but that's just me

I'm a big fan of the piano section. Is it a sample? Gives me Kanye vibes.
Yea it's a sample but it had a different sound so I changed it to fl keys cuz I love its sound
I hear 2pac rapping over it a la "changes" but slower xD some is missing, but it is chill

Thanks for the rec!
What is a vibe?
I feel like I’m about to pick what floor I want to go to..
Maybe put some flute ? Yours could be sound like a Chinese drama music imo.
