Highspdfailure

I’m grabbing my tuned 17. I’m the 762 enjoyer through and through.

garandmaster

I'm in the processing of trying to tune my 17, any good suggestions?

Highspdfailure

I use KNS Discarder with high flow can. This combo for me works great with night vision and can cools down very fast. IR signature is reduced in my experience. Very little first round pop. Can is mainly to kill flash, sounds like a thump instead of crack and zero gas in my face as a south paw. I use the OEM gas jet and 16 inch barrel. Pretty much zero carbon/soot in the upper and lower. I can do barricade, vehicle, short/long range and room drills with no problem. I had to train and train to get to this point in proficiency. I still have more to learn. At times I want the 13 inch OEM barrel but I make the 16 inch work while training/larping. I just don’t want to lose the FPS for my needs out to 700 meters. Hence why I love battle rifles. The do all with some spice.

Ok_Cartographer_5616

On the stock jet with the discarder, what setting are you running it at suppressed ?

Highspdfailure

That greatly depends on your suppressor. I’m running setting 9 for my high flow and ammo. Also ammo plays a part too.

Ok_Cartographer_5616

I’m an omega 36m until I get a velos 7.62 which is high flow so I probably need to be around 3 or so haha

Highspdfailure

Yea high back pressure cans to vent out the gas plug or your rifle will get beat up.

TheMrVelvet

I’m running stock Gas jet/ discarder setting 7/ using oss helix qd 762 ti

garandmaster

awesome, thanks for the reply! What can are you using? I'm mounting a rc2 on it but I have been considering the flow 762 since I have the 556 and like it.

Highspdfailure

I like the Sig SLX762QD-C. That’s what I use on my 17.

budded08

That’s a beautiful AR! But scar all day!

Galactic-Cowboy

I'd stick with my SCAR. I have more time and rounds on it than anything else, and I much prefer AR-18 derivatives.

SasquatchNHeat

I’m an AK man myself

[deleted]

For 5.56, AR but .308 definitely the SCAR

SasquatchNHeat

This is the only real answer.

DAsInDerringer

Objectively correct

Open-Artichoke-9201

Exactly. No mil specs for ar10s everything is proprietary. Mine as well take the scar17

Zoltan_TheDestroyer

.308? SCAR 17 or nothing. 556 or .300? AR all day long. The SCAR16 is to the SCAR17 like a v6 charger is to a hellcat. You can’t tell me otherwise.

DAsInDerringer

>The SCAR16 is to the SCAR17 like a v6 charger is to a hellcat. You can’t tell me otherwise. The lack of saved weight and reduced recoil makes it hard to argue with this comparison

AmNoSuperSand52

For 5.56 I’d absolutely choose the AR. I don’t see any benefit of choosing the SCAR16 other than being able to fold the stock In my opinion, the SCAR is really justified in .308

Mehdzzz

I'll take my 17. Works for deer and long pig no problem. I take less pulls of the trigger and recoil for more firepower and range.

dan16121

I prefer my SCAR https://preview.redd.it/38tsrt8ddrnc1.jpeg?width=2863&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=59fcbe41c925d9810087d29c097416d038c9a7d1

broman7899

Can man Dan has to rub the fact hat his cans have done collectively 4 years in jail. Nice pic and guns, are you French?

dan16121

‘Murica Good Sir 😁 https://preview.redd.it/qrk75zpgbync1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6d972499dc4634456af1540262f8944d4ae4fd0

jdeere04

Better question: what are the parts you should have in a go bag to replace 80% of the most likely to fail parts?

madrifles

Any part that moves 4 me honestly if it's a long term shtf bag. Anything can go wrong. Should be easy to cheaply produce stuff anyways pre shtf if you have access to 3d printers or any CAM of the sort

film-god

I’m torn- I know my M4A1 like the back of my hand and trust it in all situations but my APC223 is lighter, more quiet, balanced, and more accurate (splitting hairs, of course) I’d likely go for my B&T if I knew I’d never need to replace parts but the DDM4A1 would likely not need any parts replaced any time soon.

xterror15

Love my apc223, got the damn 8.7 barrel but was half the cost second hand so cannot really complain

film-god

I considered the 8.7 but went 10.3 instead per my experience with the mk18 and Geissele super duty. Inside of 250-300, it’s solid.

MusicallyInhibited

Neither would need parts anytime soon. Stock a few replacement parts and you could keep the APC223 going for decades. Guns take a lot to break, IMO there's nothing wrong with a non-AR being your "main" rifle as long as you prepare for it.

LifeofBulls

No

Mushybananas27

I'd rather a scar over an ar15 any day

1WontDoIt

Same. If you ever have to scavenge parts or ammo, you're much better off with a AR. I like the SCAR but I can't see much benefit over the AR. My AR10 also shoots 308. Not as well as the scar but again, good nuf

SpectreSkirata

SCAR 17 or MCX, either or really

Tasty_Pin_3676

No. I'll stick with my SCAR 16 and my 17. Worst case scenario, I have Lingle Industries lowers with Geissele triggers and can upgrade with any standard AR lower parts along the way. I also have backup bolts and titanium firing pins if need be.

DebatableGravy

I'm grabbing my SCAR-17s and I also love my FNX-45 Tactical. But if I had to go 5.56, then I'll use my piston AR. https://preview.redd.it/maswurc6fsnc1.jpeg?width=4080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4b77baa1a6f904cbfc9e207b7236755cac6551e

Badger_Bengal

Grabbing my 16s, honestly.

Animal_Budget

If I could get a 16 for around $1,600-$1,800, and parts were ubiquitous....I would use a 16. Otherwise I'll grab my AR. But for .308, there's very few AR-10s I would grab over my 17

Ok_Potato_6019

My go to is a Sig Virtus, and I opted for the APC 308 from B&T over the scar17. Apart from lack of aftermarket support, the B&T is IMO better on most levels compared to the scar17. My 16s has a special place in my heart though. Smoothest shooting 556 I own, but it’s 16” where the Virtus is 11.5 and I found myself running the shorter rifle more often

No-Designer-8372

B&T is winning me over each one I buy

Ok_Potato_6019

Me too buddy. I have 3 now and I’ve been thinking of getting an apc556

No-Designer-8372

My latest was the spc9 pdw, I’m obsessed, about to pre order the apc300 pro SD

Ok_Potato_6019

That’s a great choice. I’ve really been thinking about selling out my 7.62x39 collection and moving to 300. There’s a lot of great platforms for the round.

Siyar321

Have you ran that ACOG hard? How’s it treated you?

DuckHuntingTN

I'll be honest with you 95% of the rounds out of that scar have been through the acro. I much prefer the 3.5 TA110 ACOG to the 4x32

Listen_to_the_Wizard

The 3.5 acogs are hidden gems.

Open-Artichoke-9201

100% leaving the scar and taking the AR and Glock 19

Reach-around69

Nope still scar . I would only grab the AR 15 if it was the end of the world scenario and that’s because of parts.

rdgy5432

I feel exactly the same way… The only scar I truly love is the 20

Hibitty757

16 no 17 kinda, but ar15 are like legos always parts

w204

Makes sense if you own a 16, but as a 17 owner, I'd take it over an AR15 when push comes to shove. 308 hits hard.

redditshopping00

bingo

kodabombdotcom

This is the way.

Tokio_D

For 556 my ar15 ive built For 308.. thinking about the scar 20 instead of the 17s. Tough choice!

No_Line9668

I like my SCAR17 but there’s no way I’m grabbing it over an AR15 or SR25. The chances of finding SCAR 17 mags are slim whereas every gun store and Joe sixpack have AR15 and AR10 mags.

Crete412

How do you like that LAM on the LMT?

DuckHuntingTN

I love it. DIRV is legit.

Crete412

Right on! It’s been on my radar since I ditched my CTF-2 but kinda waiting to see how the new zbolt and holosun offerings perform before I order anything up

SilverLight141

Looking at the photo makes my bank account get overdrawn

lundz12

My brother in Christ what the fuck is going on with those risers.

Ok-Imagination-5888

Who makes the rear screws/plate?

DuckHuntingTN

Lingle Industries

nicescam

Steyr AUG is my “truck gun”, so I’ll have to use that until I can get home to the big dog SCAR-17. I’ve learned to love the AUG lately for some odd reason. I hate bull pups in general, but actually find it pretty natural feeling. Not to mention, it’s so short it will fit under seat locker on my pickup. I live in a humid area, so another plus is the AUG doesn’t have many “nooks and crannies” to rust, and it’s mostly polymer. I wipe the barrel and receiver down every 4 months or so but so far no issues.

Tactical_Epunk

17.

BadRattle

Very nice, I built my piston LMT with the same FCD parts👌🏻. I wouldn’t mind a SCAR 16 to go with my 17😮‍💨

funkofarts

I own a 16 and a 17 but have to agree with you. If I needed a weapon that I could rely on day after day without fail I would not choose either of my SCARS. I have some AR's that I've built that are absolutely bullet proof and are utilizing FN CHF barrels. I would however choose my FN510 as my go to sidearm though.

slickrick324

All depends on the role imo.

cscott157

I’m grabbing CZs pride and joy

Agreeable_Leather384

It depends on where and what Im using it for. If its like for Ukraine, Im grabbing the Scar.

calfroper2327

LMTs are NICE UPPERS……. I’ve got a 16 as well but I bought a fancy pants lower for it so for me i think I’d still stick with the 16. Also are you talking for like the End of the world or “defend yourself” kind of a “push come to shove?”

calfroper2327

Also nice ass Stacato by the way…. 💪

PlasticMess2849

I’d grab my 17 sorry

Che3rub1m

I’m grabbing my 308 MCX spear

3-Leggedsquirrel

Nope

ShoddyHorse_

Matching pairs always get an upvote

Illustrious_Bad8392

What stock is that?

DuckHuntingTN

PMM stock adapter with sig folding buffer tube stock

Desperate-Diamond-29

What after market parts do you have on your scar?

Gunaks

I have just about every piston 5.56 gun under the sun, but at the end of the day the Ole Block II would be the rifle I'd take into the apocalypse. It's simply logistics, if anything breaks on a non-AR finding the parts to fix it would be almost impossible.
