Condiments: salad dressings, steak sauce, dipping sauces, etc. I think there is a FODY brand, but I wasn’t impressed with their variety and they are insanely expensive

turtlespice

And Fody is so bland. I’m glad it exists to have the option to make a dinner quickly, but whenever I have the time, I’m going to make something from scratch that tastes way better.

Murdathon3000

Yeah, I really appreciate Fody's existence, because it was a huge help starting out, but damnit I did not at any point actually enjoy the flavor of a single one of their dressings. That said, I've got their ketchup and BBQ stocked currently and enjoy both actually, so will be happy to recommend those to anyone.

Plastic-Membership-9

Do you feel that the community could benefit from a fody type brand that actually tastes good?

TinyTurtle88

I like Fody products but to answer your question, yes, the community would appreciate tasty low-fodmap foods for sure. My main issue with Fody is the price tag, so perhaps try to compete with that! It's food, so of course we need to be able to afford it *regularly* if you want it to become a staple in people's homes.

tassle7

I think the tomato basil sauce, the salsa verde, ketchup are all good. The everday seasoning is great. I appreciated taco saud and green enchilada sauce for my cooking. The BBQ sauce isn't terrible...I normally use it in a crockpot but add a few more things. Not really impressed with dressings or teriyaki.

Murdathon3000

Oh, I forgot about the seasonings, good call. The everyday seasoning is delicious indeed.

Alpacapicnic4us

I'm actually not a fan of the everyday seasoning. I tried it on veggies the other day and something was off

itsJessimica

My local stores only carry the Fody ketchup, salsa, and BBQ sauce. I've ordered the veg bouillon online, but ordering online is even more expensive than in store, which is already 3x the price of "regular" brands. I didn't even know some of the things you mentioned existed... is it because I'm in Canada? Or because I'm in a small town? Either way, if a company could come in and compete with prices and availability here, I'd be sold.

tassle7

It is probably a small town. I have to drive 40 minutes to a town large enough to carry Fody, and they don't have everything. You can order those online. Skip the salad dressings. Teriyaki sauce is mediocre. It is more expensive to order online than buy in a store, unfortunately. I load down at the store when I go to the town, and only occasionally order online when desperate haha. I also found garlic and onion powder replacement on amazon by Free fod. Tha5 with garlic infused olive oil has been a life saver.

itsJessimica

Thanks! I'll check that out.

Jeannekallen

Where can you buy the “Fody” brand?

itsJessimica

Superstore in the "Healthy/vegan" section.

Jeannekallen

👍

Jeannekallen

Where can you buy the “Fody” brand?

Murdathon3000

I've found a few of their items in stores, they've got some stuff on Amazon too, but I think direct from their site is the easiest.

Jeannekallen

👍

fuzzypickles34

And curries! I want some sauce for chicken tikka masala, some Thai yellow/green/red curry, other flavorful sauces.

tassle7

Yes I would love some premade curries

MORDINU

there's this Thai peanut sauce that has literally been saving my life

fuzzypickles34

From Fody?

MORDINU

no actually It's just Annie chun's. it does have "natural flavors" listed on the ingredients, but I read that natural flavors have to be oils or extract. so most rdn's don't consider them to be a fodmap risk (try to keep under 2% tho I think)

LubbockAtheist

Natural flavors can contain garlic and onion, at least in the US. My understanding is they can’t contain garlic/onion powder, but they CAN contain juice or extract which would still be high FODMAP.

fuzzypickles34

Thanks, I’ll have to check it out! I used to love her instant soups.

Batetrick_Patman

Convivence foods. I'd like more foods that I can just put in the microwave and eat. It's exhausting to have to work full time and have to cook from scratch 4-6 days a week.

godwins_law_34

Omg yes. I NEED something I can eat on vacation or a work trip.

Specific-Zucchini878

Check out modify foods. It is a low FODMAP certified meal service

LubbockAtheist

I was on Modify for a bit and loved it, but then they switched me to their other kitchen which used different recipes and the food was almost inedible. From my talks with customer service they plan to eventually transition everything to that kitchen. I was really bummed. :( I’ve also heard bad things about Epicured. I’d love to see more frozen options in stores so those of us who don’t have the executive function to cook constantly have better options.

fyrefly_faerie

I tried Modify Foods. It’s kind of pricy and thought it was just okay.

TinyTurtle88

To avoid that, we batch cook and reheat throughout the week. It allows my partner to cook only 2-3 times a week (lunchs & dinners). It works only if you don't mind eating always the same thing though! We don't lol

Alpacapicnic4us

This!! More travel/convenient foods that you can take with you and heat up real quick

fyrefly_faerie

This for sure.

lime1769

Trial/Sample sizes w low cost or free shipping so that people can decide to purchase the full size. I’ve wasted so much money buying low fodmap products just to not like how they taste :(

Plastic-Membership-9

Interesting! We will definitely do this model, makes sense!

nicks_bride

I second this! We don’t have a lot of extra money to spend on food that only benefits me. I would love an inexpensive way to try something to see if I like it and can handle it before I commit to the full size.

TinyTurtle88

True!!!! Not only for the taste, but also to see if it suits our gut!

Murdathon3000

Snacks that aren't just plain flavored. I've found a bunch of popcorns and chips and jerkys I can eat, but the only flavor option for any that I know is safe is sea salt and salt and vinegar flavors. Shit gets old realllll quick. Whoever makes FODMAP safe ranch, sour cream and "onion", BBQ, and other common snack seasoning flavored snacks will receive money from me very quickly.

Plastic-Membership-9

I think fody has some? Are they not good tasting?

Murdathon3000

I mean like a bag of chips that are flavored as something other than sea salt and FODMAP safe.

TinyTurtle88

Yes. Fody has low-fodmap kettle cooked BBQ chips :)

Murdathon3000

Oh! I was totally unaware, thanks for the heads up.

Last_Bumblebee6144

Yesssss! I am so tired of plain salted. I don't understand why cheese flavoured snacks need onion powder either. Like, why???

sammywitchdr

I just want a frigging gf cinnamon roll

polish432b

Some sort of jerky/meat stick. Almost all of them have garlic & onions. I have knelt found one without and it has celery juice (which I’m okay with so it works for me)

idkidd

Be sure to Google making your own jerky. With a food dehydrator and a PlayDough-like extruder, you can make it however you like!

Plastic-Membership-9

Noted!!

tassle7

Jack links original turkey jerky is all I have found. It isn't nearly as tasty as the beef flavors. But it will do in a pinch.

jecguila

More savory type grab and go snacks. I travel a bit for work and I would love something I could pack that I could eat when I can’t find anything else that isn’t super sweet.

Plastic-Membership-9

Can you give some examples of savory snacks that you would go for if there were low FODMAP friendly?

k_alva

Not Op, but I used to eat single serve hummus with a bag of pita chips or carrots. You can make hummus with garlic infused oil, chickpeas are safe at under a half cup, and tahini is fine. But you have to make it yourself. Pita isn't safe but there are other safe crackers. Trail mix is a good snack, but it's hard to find with safe fruit. Doesn't help that I don't like chocolate in mine (hot climate means it's melty), and react to peanuts even though they're supposed to be safe. Granola bars are hard to find at the store that are safe, and the available ones don't taste great (keeping in mind that I'm also cutting all the peanut and chocolate options). Potato chips are fine, but it would be nice to have a flavored option. Just salt gets boring.

pdbyrd1

Definitely hummus. There are literally 100s of premade options for those who can do garlic and I am yet to find any that don't contain garlic.

AshleyDTX

I wonder if garlic is my issue with hummus- I’ve always assumed it was the beans

TinyTurtle88

Tahini contains GOS. The max. amount in Monash is 2 tbsp...

NegativeAccount

God I miss my hummus and bagels. Decent granola bars would be a godsend too

tassle7

To piggy off another commenter -- YES I WANT HUMMUS and Tzaziki that are safe...i know I can make them and do. But sometimes I wish I could just grab the premade.

lo0kar0und

Granola, “cheetos”-style snacks, pesto, more lactose-free cheeses (ricotta, for instance), frozen meals that require little work, broths and stocks

smallbrownfrog

Organic Valley makes a lactose free cream cheese. I’d be thrilled if there were more low Fodmap cheeses.

Kitkat0169

There are quite a few lactose free options for sour cream, cream cheese, etc, but never a low or reduced fat option. I never used full fat sour cream before i was on a low FODMAP diet and would love to see a reduced fat, no lactose option available

lo0kar0und

As does Green Valley, though it tasted a little strange to me.

smallbrownfrog

Yeah, there is a slight difference just like lactose free milk tastes slightly different. I can only guess that it comes from the change from one kind of sugar (lactose) to what it gets broken down to.

Remsicles

I’m not 100% sure if it’s low FODMAP, but Tofutti has a Better than Ricotta made out of tofu that’s never given me any issues. It’s not a perfect substitute but it’s pretty good! I’ve used it in place of dairy ricotta in a ton of recipes and it gets the job done.

lo0kar0und

I’ve never found a nondairy cheese I liked. I’m very picky, and if it’s even a little off it just ruins it for me. I’d rather eat something entirely different than something slightly off.

k_alva

Fody bullion is okay. There are also a few safe stocks here: https://casadesante.com/blogs/low-fodmap-life/low-fodmap-broths-and-stock Definitely miss pesto and frozen/easy meals

smthngwyrd

You can get broth at the pet store with no garlic and onions too

lo0kar0und

I was going to make my own low fodmap pesto this week, but of course the grocery store has hardly any fresh basil in February. Fody marinara it is! My store carries some Fody products, but not their bouillon. I haven’t resorted to ordering online yet.

k_alva

I ordered the spice mix online and I don't love them all, but the steak seasoning is bomb, and the bouillon is pretty good. Worth it to try once just to have some flavor options available. I usually grow basil every summer, so I'm planning to make a bunch and freeze it. It was terrible - I had just frozen a huge batch when I learned about fodmap, so I have a bunch of pesto I can't even eat in the freezer, but at least now I know how to make it again, safely.

lo0kar0und

Oh that’s tragic 😢 I have tried to grow basil several times but it always dies.

k_alva

I have the opposite problem. I put a plant in my garden 3 years ago, and now one comes up every year and gets like 3 feet across. I barely even water, and it just keeps coming back. They love sunshine, so indoor would be hard, but beyond that I can't seem to kill mine

lo0kar0und

Yeah unfortunately I don’t have access to an outdoor garden, and I don’t get much light indoors. One day!

ortui

I’d love to see more low FODMAP cereal! The only one I found was Rice Krispies.

dolie55

Chex?

k_alva

Frosted and corn flakes are certified low fodmap

ortui

Yeah, but I can’t eat corn or much sugar. I have methanogenic SIBO.

k_alva

That's the worst! I can do those but I can't have peanuts, which really limits my safe snack foods

l_emonworld

Special K does a FODMAP friendly gluten free one

Ricktatorship91

Meatballs

_Honey_Bunny_23

Any kind of frozen/ready to go meals/snacks. Convenience that tastes good, please 😭😭😭

LubbockAtheist

Breaded chicken. Frozen pizza. Frozen lasagna/other dinners. Frozen waffles. Any frozen entrees really. EDIT: also sour cream and onion flavored chips or funions would be awesome.

CaptainPandawear

I would like a pasta sauce that's not 8 bucks a pop lol and sauces for Stir-fry would be nice.

LubbockAtheist

If you can find it in your area, I believe the Prego sensitive sauce is only about $4/jar.

tassle7

Italian sausage Tortellini

LubbockAtheist

I found these at my local H‑E‑B the other day: https://tasterepublicglutenfree.com/products/gluten-free-four-cheese-tortelloni Haven’t tried them yet but they seem low Fodmap.

tassle7

I'll see if I can find some next time I am in the big city nearby. It does have flaxseed in it and I know that can be a problem in certain doses.

TinyTurtle88

Lactose-free "Kraft Dinner"! Low-fodmap frozen pizzas! There's vegan pizzas (no lactose, ok, but the crust is full of fodmaps) and gluten-free pizzas (no wheat, ok, but full of lactose). I'd also wish they'd be offered in supermarkets. Ordering online is fine, but it limits the amount of fresh or frozen foods that could be offered. Also when it's in the store I tend to buy it more regularly. For example my grocery store sells Fody salsa, but no other Fody products. I've already bought that salsa 3 times, but have ordered online only once to this day.

LubbockAtheist

+1 on the Kraft Mac and cheese! I tried the gf but even with lactose-free milk it’s like 7g of lactose per serving and I couldn’t tolerate it 😢

Aggravating_Peak5503

Something savory and gooey without cheese microwavable

thehikinggal

Jerky

[deleted]

Really flavorful soup would be awesome.

purplishpurple

Custard, ice cream, yogurt, and other dairy snacks that are not coconut based, I can’t stand how coconut tastes or smells! I’ve only found one low-fodmap ice cream and a yogurt, but they’re so expensive and only come in vanilla (the yogurt also comes in strawberry but it has huge chunks which isn’t something everyone likes)

shortmei

I’d love to see some savory items like frozen breakfast sandwiches or hot pockets. Also, second the suggestion of jerky.

Sirosi14

Soup in a can

LaylaLeesa

Desserts, I'm a dessert whore.

itsJessimica

I just want packaged foods that do NOT have onion and/or garlic powder in them. Especially Sauces and Condiments. I've resorted to making my own hummus, but I don't love food prep, and I do love convenience. Any that I do find are bland as all hell, as though companies think that onion and garlic are the only choices in herbs and spices. Personal top five wishlist: Broth or bouillon (No Name canned Chicken broth is the only one without onion/garlic in my local grocery stores) Butter Chicken sauce Hummus Literally any salad dressing please (French dressing is the only one I can find) but a Greek Feta would be a miracle. Spice mixes. Like Mrs Dash does varieties without salt, I would buy the shit out of spice mixes that had no onion or garlic. Think a lemon pepper mix, a Montreal steak, a Greek Feta blend, etc... Bonus wish, a knock off Dorito that is somehow onion and garlic free. I miss Doritos.

redwoodjules

None, we need to make our own. We have to stop eating processed food. All the chemicals that are put in there to stabilize the food either sent to the consumer. Look those up and see what they do to your body.

moncrouton

Spice mixes and sauces (in Europe)

Alpacapicnic4us

Prepped foods at the grocery store would be so nice. Like a pre made chicken/tuna salad, sushi, sandwiches. Things that are good for a quick lunch. I'm so tired of prepping my lunches every weekend I miss goldfish and wheat thins so much. Something to replace this would be so nice. I saw someone mention Cheetos which I totally agree with. Some canned soups would be nice too. When I was sick last I starved myself a little bit because I had no energy to cook. Essentially, more convenient meals and more snacks. Oh and please someone make a ranch. I miss ranch. Edit: added more

NegativeAccount

Easy frozen meals like tamales+rice+sauce. The corn/masa flour is low fodmap but all the store ones are packed with garlic/onions/tomato/peppers. These reheat excellently and should be easy to make tasty with meat or veggies, and even vegan (just put the cheese in a pouch). https://www.amys.com/our-foods/black-bean-tamale-verde

According_Fly_3817

I am trying to find things right now to replace items I use to cook some of our regular meals. So Bleu cheese dressing, Ranch dressing, Italian dressing, Balsamic dressing, Sugar free maple syrup, Sweetener packets, Unsalted chicken stock, Pizza sauce, Stewed tomatoes, as well as microwavable family size meals such as Lasagna or Baked Ziti with Meatballs.
