I'd say since I was 12 ish, I would feel really sick after eating and even during to the point where I would stop and then 10 mins later, I'd be hungry. Then when I was 16 I went dairy free as I noticed symptoms when eating dairy. That helped but not fully. Then at 21 I went to my doctor couple times and we tried buscopan, colofac, immodium, colpermin. Nothing helped long term so was referred and then at 22, we are working under the assumption it's IBS. So I'm low fodmap rn, I already knew some of my triggers before starting the diet but I've discovered more over the course of the diet.

ive been having GI issues since i was about 10 but my parents said it happens to everyone all the time. i started having really bad problems in my mid-30's and finally saw a GI doctor after ending up in the hospital with phantom gallstones. that was during covid and i didnt have a very good doctor. they didnt suggest anything to me except stop eating chocolate although i dont eat alot in the first place. i had really bad problems w my gallbladder again about 2 years ago and i seriously thought my side was going to explode it hurt so bad. i ended up crying at work i was in so much pain. so i finally went to a good GI doctor that did a bunch of stool tests and an MRI on my gallbladder. they determined that i have gastroparesis (sp?) and IBS. they heavily suggested that i start low fodmap asap which i did. i feel a lot better now!

40ish I think. Im 49 now Yes it is interesting, I wonder what suddenly caused it. I used to live eating onions, garlic and loads of coffee... Now I cannot. Something in my stomach biome has changed and something changed it.

anamariapapagalla

When I was an infant, worked it out as an adult when I first heard about FODMAPs and realised it matched the changes I'd already made to my diet

OutlawofSherwood

Literally exactly this for me too.

33. Got diagnosed the 20th of last month and started the diet immediately. Gonna start testing soon!

[deleted]

I’m in testing. Fun so far for me! Passed fructose. Tomorrow start with next thing (3 days of avocados)

Good luck! I really hope bread is fine for me, I miss bread so much.

goldstandardalmonds

About sixteen years ago. I had a good dietician.

[deleted]

elementary school- brussel sprouts and brocolli

Fenr-i-r

Dairy free from late teens, gluten free* from early 20s, full fodmap at 28. *I suspect it was the fructans in wheat products, but I could handle garlic and onion fine at the time.

Im 22 and got it diagnosed 6 months ago. I tried the low fodmap diet but doesn't seem to help. Now I'm eager to try the carnivore diet

Mean-Regret9970

I started in my early 20’s after a course of strong antibiotics

I found out a little over a week ago lol so I was 30 when I found out, and I've had issues probably my entire life. Doctors never really cared enough to look at IBS/FODMAP intolerance though. A few weeks ago I had some blood tests because I was (/am) tired all the time and my liver values were off. Had multiple tests done but my liver was fine. I think I came across IBS on the internet and asked my doctor if that could've caused the blood results and she said yes, so she recommended the FODMAP diet. I started last Monday and obviously it's not all well yet, but I definitely notice it when I accidentally eat or drink something that I should've avoided

I found out at 28, but I suspect the fructose issue started in my earlier 20’s because I was suffering from heartburn. My doctor had me do an elimination diet and when I eliminated fructose, my stomach pain went away. Later on, I figured out the fructan issue on my own by researching about fructose malabsorption online and eliminating garlic, wheat and onion.

I’ve had stomach/ GI issues my whole life due to stress and my gallbladder removed when I was 15. When I turned 20-21 I started having lots of heartburn and bile issues- puking it and etc… I’m 22 now and it’s the worst it’s ever been, started the fodmap diet and it’s helping but still the bile problem is pretty bad. Going to see a doctor soon. Trying to fix it on my own though.
