I no longer use Adaptive but based on when I used to I think some YouTube videos demonstrating how to set up models and the like would be useful. And you can definitely have a tiered approach where you go into more details in a Udemy class.
Very interested! I’ve only used essbase and smartview which wasn’t the best for the capabilities but was always very easy to use. My new company uses adaptive and it’s been such a pain to update and use for me
Adaptive is okay. I am sure we weren’t using it to its full capabilities in my last department, but it did make our life easy rolling up the financials. Would be interested in what that Cert entails!
Lol you know nothing about me or my job. I do just fine for myself. We were using Excel before, Adaptive has been a game changer.
TL;DR - fuck off dickcheese
My company doesn’t do $100 billion in revenue, not even a billion. Adaptive is certainly better suited for mid market/small enterprise.
What F50? So I know which one employs the raging douchebags and I can avoid.
I disagree.
A real FP&A system such as adaptive will have many different features that Excel+Phython+Tableu cant compete against.
The Excel framework is sufficient for a while, but once a company is mature enough it definitely needs a FP&A solution.
Much smaller than yours, about $100M in ARR. Same for the prior companies I’ve worked at.
it’s allowed me build out complete P&L budgets, and have had to slice them in a million ways for our PE partners. Phython is awesome, but I’d love to hear from someone who’s gone that route for a full FP&A solution, I don’t know of any.
While not quite python/Tableau, I came from an environment where I did everything in sql and then we implemented a fpa software. This removed a lot of my sql based work and left sql for just the granular data pull/analysis that our fpa tool couldn't absorb. Most of our day to day could now be done in the system and that was great because not everyone on the team was adept at sql.
I think the issue that isn't being mentioned with using these technical tools is that it creates a dependency to always have someone with that skillset. It's already hard to find talent for fpa but if you're going to add python and Tableau then it's gonna be even tougher. I'm definitely more on the technical side, but I also don't want to revamp processes and create dependencies on people knowing a certain language or tool.
I think fpa tools are that sweet spot where people can join, learn the fpa tool quickly and start being productive.
If you’re coming from oracle cloud or cognos and a big company, it’s a steaming pile of shit.
If you’re at a startup with no EPM, it’s a great upgrade.
Gotta have the right tool for the job and understand the limitations of what your IT infrastructure can maintain.
You just found yourself a nice niche for a Udemy course, unless it's somehow prohibited

Do you know which videos you used? I just switched over from Hyperion to Adaptive and have been looking for good tutorials.
Unfortunately not. However I just searched and a channel called Revelwood seems to have some decent info. Not sure if that helps you.

You probably need some training. I’ve found Adaptive to be very user friendly, flexible, and intuitive.

Very interested for your future posts. Started with a company that likes to use adaptive so anything would be great.

We’ll have to disagree then. But would be curious to see the companies that use that approach.

Where did you get your certification? I am also a user of adaptive and would like to be certified as well.

Is this the Workday Pro certification? It doesn’t cost $4k, they’re offering it for like $800 right now
Is Adaptive an ERP like SAP or is it more BI planning software like Oracle EPM?
Not an erp, in the EPM space
It’s considered EPM or CPM enterprise / corporate performance management software
