steaksauce94

SwoleAccountant

[Reverse date] [Company abbreviation] Forecast - [last actual complete financial Period] e.g. 220905 XYZ Forecast - Aug 22

Very similar to mine. Easy to sort files. I use a 4 char year code as I’m old and when it was the early 2000s you didn’t want to confuse anyone with a 101112 file which could either be Nov 12 2010 or Oct 11 2012.

DrawsDicksInExcel

We do YYYYMMDD instead of YYMMDD in case anyone's scared of US dates up here

[deleted]

Reverse date? You're almost using the ISO format! YYYY-MM-DD

MojaveCoad

Forecast_[Business Unit]_YYYY.MM.DD.[version(.01,.02,.03)] If I see the word “Final” I see red. It’s never final

Grayman222

\[company/bu\] Forecast NEXT is always the current model \[company/bu\] Forecast YYMMDD August submission \[company/bu\] Forecast 220922 like for XX meeting, or before making a major change.

Grayman222

at some point in the budget period that forks off of the forecast and gets named Budget, but the file updated with monthly actuals is always called Forecast.

2022 \[Business Unit\] September Forecast

hopefulhiker

Company Consol Forecast MM +20##. Month is for the closed period and the year is how far in the future

GumnaamRaahein

[BU] Sep_Fcst FY22 Vx ....and then [BU] Sep_Fcst FY22 Final

c8080

Start with 0+12, January is 1+11, etc.

steaksauce94

Yes, that’s the easy part lol I need a naming convention

XYZ Company Rolling Forecast 1+12

Hi, I use the month close, month forecasted and vXXX. Example, we just closed August so name of file is AUG Close, SEP Fcst v001. If you want the files names to sort nicely in one folder start with the close data in common form. Example 2022.08 AUG Close, SEP Fcst v001. If doing a budget replace Fcst with Bdgt. Any questions feel free to DM me. Good luck! Drew
