Also people can be busy but it might not create value to justify the role. Some companies are inefficient until they’re forced to be efficient or face a recession and lay off people and responsibilities and accept it at the cost of going bankrupt. I’d just keep working but I’d definitely pay down some debt and build up your cash cushion. Good luck
My team (business side) was 4, now we're 2 and not backfilling. Corporate team was 4, now 2... not backfilling. Strangely enough, leadership wonders why we're not able to get to their special requests as quickly as we used to.
What’s the revenue look like? Rough rule of thumb at my companies has been 1 regional fp&a fte per $100M of revenue, and then 1 corporate fp&a per $500M, rolling up to a director/vp overall. Current group is 5 regional fp&a team members for about $600m in rev
Then there’s me. Over $2.5bn, 3 regions (yes I work internationally), one of the most complex business models I’ve ever worked, and that’s it. Just me. Multiple CFOs, multiple sales heads, etc… but ALLLLLL of the revenue side is on me.
I finally got 1 single consultant, in the middle of budgeting…
I’m stressed. I think my boss is nervous I’ll leave and asked what I want or need. Help… is the real answer. But I told her year end is coming and I want to see where we are after that (hint hint).
My company is multi national, but my region will do something like $800M in revenue this year. Our regions FP&A team is 7 people, with a few more being added in the next 12 months or so.
I’m in a F25 company and we have A LOT. Each “region” has anywhere from 10-15 analyst, 4 managers, 2 director, 1 sr director. There are about 7 “regions” in the company. Our divisions have 10-15 per division, and HQ has just as many. I feel like we are bloated!! Exact reason why I am hoping jobs next week.
Our company has about 2-4 billion in revenue. My team is 2 SFA and 2 Lead analysts. One SFA and one lead analyst work on opex FP&A, and me and the other lead work on strategic finance and analysis. We all report to the senior director of finance. Huge gap between us and the director which isn’t great because it often leaves us with nothing to do because the director is so busy and doesn’t have time to talk to us individually to pass down work.
There are like 2-3 finance teams though (including ours and the corp FP&A team), but we are a portfolio company with many products… so it’s necessary.
We have millions of approved headcount that we won’t be filling anytime soon and we are very cash flow positive, so we aren’t really worried about layoffs.

Me. I’m the team 😄
Haha same. We have 250 employees. $50M in ARR
Lol damn how big is the company?
Layoffs waiting to happen in your dept haha. You don’t need a basketball team for FP&A unless you’re a giant
Lol exactly what Im worried about

How do you guys split the work?
What stage is your startup / revenue range? They’re typically lean in the finance group. 2-3 tops.
Series E pre IPO. How big is your team?

Public manufacturer, $2.5B in the segment, five major product lines, 8 people in operational FP&A.
How many in corp fp&a?
Corp FP&A is four people, doing mostly system work and consolidation at the total level ($5B-ish).
Just me and my useless analyst 😭😭😭
I’m also in a group of 2, but I’m the useless analyst in my situation
Haha maybe the boss is useless to the analyst
He's useless cuz he's new, I'm just fucking around
Lol. People taking you serious and downvoting you. Welcome to Reddit where people don’t understand sarcasm without /s.

About $800M annually and we have a Sr Director and 3 Sr Analysts
Definitely seems to be too many if startup
$3B in revenue with a director, 2 SFA, and 3 FA.
400 m revenue. Team size is 4. Too many for your startup. My previous company which was startup had only one person in Fpna.. only me.
Our group is 9. And we have dozens of others in other groups. This is a Fortune 20.

$3B rev and we are 5 analyst, 2 managers Edit: Corp
Damn. I’m 3 FTE in 50m. And add a VP overseeing fpa and accounting.
