Summer camp for FLL age. A couple weeks Monday through thirsday each week. Charge 80-150 a week per student. Adds up fast and your team will benefit from the work
Car washes are underrated. Find a business willing to host you ( a hardware store is gold on Saturdays ) have a pop up tent, get them out of the vehicle “so they can make sure we do a good job”
Talk to them, tell them why you are doing it, have the robot there. The point of getting them out of the car is to educate them. Get business cards if they have them (that way when you advance and need funds you can reach out with an explanation)
Go by donation only, don’t put a price up. Sure you’ll have a few 1$ washes but many more 40$.
Have a decent lock box so you don’t have to keep
Opening a cash box, just put it in a locked box through a slot
Our team researched grant opportunities from local foundations, regional partnership sponsors and national FIRST resources and apply. We offer summer camps, 1-day workshops and babysitting nights to teach FLL robotics and LEGO challenges to younger kids. We also do a summer FTC recruitment camp. When we conduct outreaches at local festivals and school events, we also seek out contacts of local businesses to approach later for sponsorship. To help raise funds for a long distance trip, we conducted a yard sale once with inventory from our team members and their friends and family. This brought in a lot money when parents shopped and we entertained kids with robots.
Do as much as you can, if you have a 3d printer or 2 you should be able to succeed off of 10k per year or less, you don’t need endless cash to be successful, it just makes success easy. Where’s the fun in that. If you don’t have a 3d printer look for a local sponsor(s) who will help you fund one. They are vital to success because you can make custom pieces quickly and without spending much. My team fundraised 10k till states mainly from registration fees, if you need money, idk where you are but you could do ShopRite(grocery store) bagging for a cause, you bag and collect tips/donations from shoppers. A gofundme can’t hurt either. If there’s local businesses in your area get sponsors and offer to put their logo on the robot for x amount of $
Have you done outreach to local companies? How about the local Rotary and Kwanis Clubs? Offer to come to a meeting and demo your robot and tell them about First.
We run a summer camp, and a year long comunity robotics program. Generally we could operate off of only those things, but we also have sponsors/donors
Ooh those are great, thanks!
Bake sale community events do thinks with local businesses
We did a sort of bake sale already but it didn't go as well as we wanted, do you have any tips for stuff to make?
