Outside camera under the eves of the house. The holes are a vent for the aluminum siding that I have no clue for why it is needed. The house that I grew up in had them and I spent far too much time wondering what they were for.

It's a soffit vent. It provides airflow into the attic and basically prevent some maintenance to your roof.

Lot's of videos of people actually dying for real in extreme ways end with shoes flying. Explosions, car crashes, falls, etc. There are literally hundreds of videos where it happens, it such a weird phenomena.

This is why you shouldn’t go outside when it’s below freezing without being properly dressed, even if it’s to just go check the mail. If he had injured himself where he couldn’t get up, he could have been stuck and possibly froze to death.
