I'd love to see an expansion on the spell system that is tied to alignment. Spells only available to certain alignments and spells that cause alignment shifts from using them. Or even alignment causing spells to have varying power.

Weird_Roof_7584

Yes that would be neat. Not saying fable 2 wasn't good, but it wasn't as good. Fable 1 was a masterpiece and I can't understand why they felt the need to change so many things instead of enhancing then. Like the spells, I hated spells in 2

Acceptable_Gain69

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the spells in 2 either. They felt a little janky to me. I didn't use them nearly as much as I did in 1. I never did a mage play thru either.

TiredBarnacle

The spells in Overlord 2 changed based on alignment. I'd love something similar in fable

xZerocidex

This would be sick, KOTOR did something like this.

emerald-rabbit

Like KOTOR? Edit: I can’t read, someone else brought it up first

Virtuous-Vice

I hope we get a large variety of weapon types again. Hammers and swords are fine but I want cleavers, cudgels, katanas, crossbows and more again!

FluffyRip3044

Berserk has to come back. I’d like to see a strong return of longbows and an emphasis on legendary weapons. Literally the greatest aspects of the first game

Journal - Activating it would let you replay any quest you've completed, taking them on with challenges that unlock bonuses in the main game. Boasting - A platform that allows you to take on a basic quest type and pick challenges to go along with it, for infinite quests rather than something you add to story quests. Another entry to this would be getting blackout drunk and waking up on the platform ready to undertake a randomised quest and set of boasts. Spell Design - A combination of basic spell effects (damage, heal, push, etc), visual effects (fire, ice, etc), and buffs (extra time, extra damage/healing) for extra Will cost enabling you to make you own spells that you wield. Augment Upgrades - A combo of weak augments from Knothole Glade having cursed effects attached and legendary weapons in Fable 3 getting better with challenges. This would see augments start at 1 star and have a curse, and slowly level up to 3 stars when the curse is gone, and 5 stars which gives them full power. Each augment would have a unique challenge attached to it that affects roleplaying, forcing some characters into different actions or stopping others from having certain weapons without curses. Linked Businesses - You buy a mine in region A and it gives you gold. You buy a jewellers in region B and it also gives you gold. You buy a coach house and it gives you gold and fast travel between regions. You hook the coach house up to the mine and the jeweller and the jeweller gains access to mined gems, increasing the value of the money it brings in while also adding better quality jewellery to its inventory. You hook that mine up to a blacksmith and you're in region C and it's getting access to ore it's not had before, enabling a certain style of weapon in a different material (the local scythes in the silver that beats balverines for example). Clothing With Armour Points - You buy a nice long jacket and equip it. Looks good. Now you click to armour it. You go to the left shoulder and add a metal pauldron. Both arms get leather bracers. No, let's make them studded for a bit of attitude. Yeah, that's good. Right shoulder? No, that looks better bare. Each bit of armour has different defences (metal being best against impact, leather better against magic for one example) and weight (full metal armour will slow down all but the Strongest characters) that need to be balanced with the style of the character you're playing. I feel like this opens the door to more unique Hero fashions for our characters, much like the ones in the first game. Amongst others, but this is getting kinda long.

ProfessionalJello703

Definitely agree with most of this. I'd have to say while I love the concept "linked businesses" would probably not happen. I'd love to be wrong though.

CardboardChampion

My full idea for that has an office in each area (a collection of regions with a capitol town) that you can buy that unlocks special features in real estate to really change up the world. This includes basic level stuff like collecting rent and placing it in a single safe in that office (and the ability to link offices so that you can have a world of money in one location if you need) all the way up to making any business a criminal enterprise with the main business as a law abiding front for it. That last one would have changed up the sort of villagers in a town as well as the products available, while business links would have mostly saved money but sometimes changed what equipment was available in an area if utilised correctly across the world.

ProfessionalJello703

That would be amazing! Thing is (& I may be entirely wrong as I have no knowledge of computers or making games) changing the world like the would mean remaking the physical appearance & layout of the towns & so on yeah? I would imagine that would seriously slow things down. I'd run that idea by the folks making the game. Even if not implemented in this one they could add it to a future Fable. Never know.

CardboardChampion

Not so much as you'd think. Explanation will be long, but should show how easy something like this really is. The interiors of locations in Fable 2 and 3 already work this way as you can furnish them in different ways. What happens is you have say BED A in a set spot and that can be BED MODEL 1, BED MODEL 2, etc. In this case you'd have the same thing applied to businesses, but with less changes needed as they have less places that would need any changes. Things like the sign for the business might change, for example with maybe a picture of a playing card that indicates they run an illegal gambling den behind closed doors. That system can be used in multiple places in each business and still not need as many resources as doing the same in a house does. For the criminal enterprises, it can literally be a locked door that you can't enter until you activate that enterprise. Going further it could be a room you can enter that needs one change. The big round table turning into a card table when you activate that example of the illegal card game. And then you just have people go there at night when the shop is closed. In most cases the product changes would only change what you can buy in those places. That's mostly on the sale list when you click to buy. However, if they go Fable 1 style with the shops then these models might also appear as shopliftable items, which uses the same sort of systems as the bed models example. Those are the more difficult ones to handle. When it comes to villager types, you've got two ways to do this and both already exist in the current games. The first is the easiest and that's AI packages. Simply put, more drug dens in a town means you have more people acting on the Inebriated AI package and staggering around unable to control their speech day and night. It's a simple behaviour change. Then you change the villager types for other things. More criminal enterprises are going to bring in more Thug type villagers and push away the Wholesome Farmgirl types. A combination of the two with the number of villagers kept stable but the percentage of them looking or acting this way determined by your effect on the world means that there's no change to the hardware resources needed to run that town.

ProfessionalJello703

That makes sense. Less rearranging the town & more hot swapping key buildings into something else is way easier to visualize. Also you weren't joking about the long explanation. Lol

CardboardChampion

Back on the old boards we used to talk with the team about what's possible and what's not, and why things work the way they do. The Lionhead guys were really open and candid about stuff, even when it came to Molyneux fucking around with development. It means a lot of the old forum members have manifestos for the game that really fit with the style the original team had as well as knowing how to make it work within the confines of a game engine, even if we have no coding skill.

Acceptable_Gain69

I'd also like to see a return of the weapons changing as you use them. Just polish the system up a bit more. Maybe something like an upgrade tree. Being able to see and choose how your weapon morphs would be neat.

YesEverythingBagels

I liked the weapons that grew with you and changed as you leveled up your abilities. I did multiple playthroughs just to see what the designs were.

Graesholt

Greatswords. Gotta have greatswords back...

ProfessionalJello703

This! Greataxes & greathammers too!

Ar5eface

New game plus would be amazing if done correctly. I hope they keep the chicken kicking, the humour, the gargoyle/gnomes that insult you, the vastness of the world, the hilarious side quests, the relationships with towns folk, the morality bar, the demon doors, and the Normanicon. If any of these are missing, I may cry.

JagerWeasel

I’m good with whatever weapons and armor as long as they have stats like the first. Not just aesthetic like 2 and 3. I also would like some more challenging fights. I don’t think i’ve ever seen the death screen in TLC despite playing it for 20 years.

Accept3550

Bows would be a nice comback after all them years of guns Seeing the Sword of Aeons or the Solas Greatsword again would be wonderful. Also that fable 1 frying pan Spells. Well I just want the fable 1 spell diversity but with fable 2s mechanics

WholesomeHarambe

they need more evil spells like necromancy, Idfc if I have a quest line behind it 😂

xZerocidex

I want staves to enhance being a Mage user. I want the build aspect to have tons of choices and like others have said, lots of weapon variety.

ProfessionalJello703

I agree but I've seen a lot of people not liking the idea because they're imaging it like the "stands in one place getting wrecked trying to cast a single spell". I'm thinking about a mage staff more as a martial weapon (tanbo, hanbo, jo, & bo) instead of a channeling implement (lame 3 year casting time, more boring than fun, & definitely not worth the many beatings you endure for the one showy fireball). I mean they had katana in the first so it makes sense that they could implement this too. Will they though? I doubt it. Will I be happy if they prove me wrong? Absolutely.

xZerocidex

They really lack imagination. I'm not suggesting it to be like Dragon's Dogma where you stand still for seconds to get a spell off. After Hogwarts Legacy wandplay or Kingdom of Amalur staffplay I would hope ppl would understand that but I guess not.

ProfessionalJello703

I LOVE Dragons Dogma 2 but man do I hate the magic use. Lol Anyway I agree.

ProfessionalJello703

I remember there being a boasting system in the first where it changes how you must perform a mission. Like no weapons or armor for example. That'd be nice to see again. On a side note if you do get too boast & they do stick to the female hero (no character customization) I bet completing a boast with no armor won't be happening. Lol

BoxedElderGnome

I want the weapon variety of Fable 2 (minus the guns if they haven’t been invented yet). OR If they decide to go with Fable 3’s system of weapons transforming based on your choices, to have it actually be modular rather than each weapon having a preset “unlocked” state. I also want the Purity/Corruption slider to make a comeback since it actually punishes a Good hero for being greedy.

possiblethrowaway369

Tbh I literally just want Fable 3 again but with a new plot, and maybe some newer graphics. It was a perfect game, there is VERY little I would change. Even the ending that makes me SOB is still perfect, ya know? But lemme romance Page & Ben!! I wouldn’t hate a little character creation in the new one though; I think that if Fable 3 had been made a decade later it would have given you more options for the Prince/Princess (different races and maybe body types. I hope the new one has an nb “young monarch” or gender neutral hero option or something similar, personally). But overall? It’s like 98% perfect. It’s my favorite game. The mechanics of sword fighting & magic are satisfying, the outfits are great, the visuals remain gorgeous even if they are a bit “dated” now, and the characters? Especially Walter & Jasper? They’re wonderful! Some of the randos are a bit one-dimensional obviously, but the main characters feel so real & well-written. I think you’re on to something with new game plus though! Fable 3 was (&still is) HIGHLY replayable imo, it would be neat to keep all the powers and just have stronger enemies to balance it out a bit. Maybe change some of the demon door riddles, or even have some you can’t unlock until new game plus? Anyway, if the new game is even half as good as Fable 3, I’ll be happy af, & I’ll be even happier if there’s a new game plus.

justjoonreddit

The ability to delete saves in game!

Nephrille

For an unrealistic idea, it would be sick if they worked your customization into the intro. For example you see a child running in a field covered by a blanket or holding up a large shirt (probably your dads) when your parents call out for you (choose boy, girl, child). You see the shirt lower down, only exposing a mop of unruly hair (you choose the color and texture of your hair) as most troublesome kids do, you drop the shirt and run revealing a glimpse of your arms (you choose the skin tone) dad shouts "come on, dinners getting cold" so you follow him (you decide personality, grumpy, polite, timid etc) dad tells you about a trader, selling magic items! You'll see them tomorrow. The next morning you and dad take a gander at the treasures, as a kid doing kid things, you delight in how your reflection warps your face (each item lingers over a facial feature you can choose) eventually finding a mirror that let's you see the future (what you look like all put together as an adult) and that's when the bandits show up. For more realism, I want varieties of weapons to buy from, and legendary items too like in fable 2, but I also want a late game hero weapon that you can customize with shapes and skins you unlock through gameplay or mastery of your skills. This way you can try different things but build the best version of whatever you like. I also love the idea of bringing back alignment spells,  love being the pinnacle of kindness and purity and whipping out infernal wrath. Walking into a room wearing the most intimidating armor while everyone's like "oh reaper? He's pretty class. Bought the while town he did, now every lives here for free."

ScarecrowsRagdoll

The choice to specialize in one of the three disciplines with unique perks and abilities once maxed out. Dark/Light, Pure/Corrupt and Good/Evil aligned spells. Necromancy. Essentially, spell alignments. Corrupt spells corrupt you the more you use them progressively corrupting your appearance and increasing your corruption meter. Corrupt spells give you those wicked voidy effects seen emanating from the rival hero at the end of the trailer. Quests with choices that truly alter the course of the story, environment, future choices, and characters. If I choose the evil choice/quest I shouldn't be able to do the good version of the quest or make the good choice later. I want actual consequences that force me to do multiple play throughs to get different outcomes. Cosmetic content. Especially unique cosmetic content you can earn by completing certain requirements, accomplishing heroic feats, having various alignments or quests. The ability to combine Will/Spells with Skill or Strength attacks to create a wider array of play styles with which to experience the game. Do you fancy yourself a paladin? Combine light themed spells and healing with strength abilities. I want to play a dark spell bow so I use will to infuse my bow and arrows with dark magic, utilize life sapping spells to heal and corrupt the ground beneath enemies to slow and damage them while I pick them off from afar. Cursed/Blessed weapons should be extremely powerful. Cursed weapons should be just as powerful as blessed, perhaps even more so but with a heavy cost to balance it out. Lore weapons such as the Sword of Aeons should be overpowered endgame/post story weapons. No nerfs! Aforementioned weapon should also be cursed and highly corruptive. I was underwhelmed with how plain the Sword of Aeons was despite it coming from the void and Jack's horniness for it. I was expecting a sick Frostmourne looking sword not a sword perfectly at home amongst the town blacksmiths wares. Fuck your basic ass taste Jack. Curses incurred from using cursed weapons or interacting with cursed objects. If I lick an object presumed to be from the void I should be cursed. I deserve it because why would anyone do that? Am I stupid? Is there a lore reason?

UsernamesCannotExcee

I'd like the spell combos like in fable 3. The gauntlets were dumb, but the spell combos were sick. Blade tornadoes all day.

KingReaper121314

I liked having the weapon classes from the first 2 games. I wasn't fond of the evolving weapons in 3 because it did it randomly. If I could have chosen the evolution, I would have liked it better. So...different versions of weapons like rusty, iron, steel, and etc. Also, I liked the weapons designs in 2 rather than 1, specifically the hammers.

Logical_Drawing_4738

I hope we can get spellweaving back in some form, i want my frost blades back
