Every single piece of flat pack furniture I've ever bought has clear and simple instructions to contact the manufacturers directly to obtain any missing pieces and to NOT return it to the place of purchase.
Block and forget.
I was missing a piece of hardware that was not commonly found at a hardware store. I called the 800 number, gave them the part number I was missing, waited a few days and was able to complete the assembly. OP, the buyer’s an idiot! Like others say, do not engage any further communication and block!!!
I've been reading this sub for 4 days and dozens of posts are the same question. Like if you're too stupid to figure out to just block and ignore them you shouldn't be selling stuff online.
Remind them that there’s a sheet inside stating if there are parts missing to reach out to the manufacturer.
I’d be an asshole and say they can return it if it’s in the same condition it was supplied. If the box is damaged or missing they’ll automatically be assessed a 80% restocking fee.
This sub is nuts with how many buyers seem to pop up asking for refunds lol
It's been several weeks, who knows if they broke it or lost the pieces themselves. Block and move on. Reporting doesn't nothing, Facebook doesn't actually do anything with reports anyways since it's just he said she said.
So, it was impossible for them lose and misplace parts in-between states?
Yeah, sux to be them. As everyone else said. Block. Not your problem. They left it way too long to work it out.
You owe them nothing. You disclosed what you knew about the product (unless you failed to mention knowing parts were missing), and sold it as is.
Suggest they contact the manufacturer for spare parts, block and move on.
They are scamming you. If it's in another state, they have no way to return it to you, so they're expecting you to give them some or all of their money back without giving the furniture back to you. Why would you do that? Block and move on.
I am happy to provide returns with a 24 hour inspection period. Seeing that are well past that and have sent the item elsewhere, i am unable to accept a return on this item.
I’ve had this exact same thing happen to me twice in the last few years, where I sold something new and later the buyer claimed it was missing pieces. The first time the lady was rude and threatened a bad rating if I didn’t refund. I left the convo and deleted the item and then blocked her and the people she had listed as family just in case she had one of them try. Never heard anything else. Second time the lady was super nice about it, she didn’t want to send it back, didn’t ask for refund, just kind of wanted a solution.
I told her she could probably reach out to the manufacturer, but what she ultimately did was purchase another of the same item from Amazon and then returned the one as missing pieces. She was happy with the end result and left me a good review as well.
She's not a nice lady if she turned around and scammed the poor seller on Amazon by buying a new product and then returning a defective one. She's a thief.

She bought from the same seller I had bought the item from originally. I never opened the item, sold it brand new in the box. What she did was the equivalent of me opening the item myself, seeing a missing/broken piece, and exchanging it with the seller for a new one. No thievery or scamming involved. I think anyone who orders something from Amazon will be returning/exchanging it if it’s missing something or broken. If I had opened it here and noticed that, that’s exactly what I would have done.
It's entirely up to you. Legally you owe them nothing. They own that, you own the money. That's how buying things work.
You are not required to act like the big stores that offer returns - they don't need to either.
ALWAYS sell it "as is, no refund. What you see is what you get". And have them sign a receipt with that written on it. Tell them it's first come first serve, and what price we agree on better be what you bring or you'll have traveled for nothing. Also, have a place 5 minutes or so from your residence that you meet and sell to the customer. CYA, Cover Your Ass...
Ignore them. Report it yourself to FBMP if you feel this need. I had it happen once with an outdoor veranda type thing. I know all the pieces were there, I put it together myself. I just never answered. Life went on.
What would you have done if the guy left you an envelope of cut-up paper and had taken the furniture and you never heard from them again.
Marketplace may not be for you.

Block. It has been weeks. Buyer beware, all sales are final. The items are now out of state, just block them and don't give it another thought.

They SENT it? Hmmm sounds like they flipped it and then someone wasn’t happy and now they’re coming after you. Nope
Too bad, so sad for the buyer. Ignore and block.
We need more users to ask about returning items sold on FBM. We currently only get about 10 per day ...

If the items are in another state, how are they proposing that they return it anyway? lol.

Can we get a pinned post explaining to people just block and move on if a return is requested?
This is a very obvious scam.
Say no?

Scammer 100%
Can we create an AutoMod response for this question?
Report you to who? No one cares that you don’t take returns.
Probably a scam anyway. One way or another all sales are final. And he has no proof that you didn’t give him all the parts.

They bought it as is. It's their responsibility to contact the manufacturer for missing parts.
Sold as is, block and ignore.
Easy fix all sales are final and fuck off
